Where to stay in Cradle Mountain
Cradle Mountain hotels & accommodations
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge and used it as a base to climb Cradle Mountain. The cabins are quite simple but spacious and warm. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well located with little meandering paths everywhere. The hotel left complimentary port and cookies in our room which was almost as nice a surprise as the...
We had a spa cottage. Lots of privacy and surrounded by nature. Bring your own bubble bath:) We spotted wallabies and echidnas near our cottage. Meals are generally costly in cradle mountain area. We felt that the Hellyer's restaurant at cradle mountain wilderness village served wonderful meals for lunch n dinner. We paid about $30-$40 per pax. However, it was too co...
Clean, well equipped and very cosy cabin perfect for our pre-Overland Track hike. Delicious (massive!) breakfast basket available on request, very helpful and friendly staff. Literally 2 minutes walk to the Cradle Mountain Visitors Centre and an easy 15-20 minute stroll to the Cradle Mountain Bistro&Bar for dinner, with plenty of wombats and pademelons to see en route...
Gorgeous hotel in the middle of Cradle mountain-lake st clair national park. House may look simple outside but its very nice inside. Well stocked kitchenette with the necessary pots, pans , knives, bowls and cutlery. The peeler in our room was not sharp and we gave up peeling the potatoes we bought. We enjoyed standing outside our house under the gorgeous starlit sky. ...
It's a good experience to spend a few nights in Cradle Mountain, we saw Aurora lights! The resorts park provided different kinds of accommodations and I was in the dormitory. Kitchen was spacious and very useful. Hot water, shower.. nothing to complain. Wifi at the reception only but that's enough. Groceries weren't very expensive. Eg: Postcards A$1 Devondale 1L ...
I dunno why you are considering this accommodation, but I booked this because it was just 800m from Tasmazia. And less than an hour from Cradle Mountain. We got the Loft Studio which is very spacious (can sleep 5), and has a gas fireplace, which the proprietor was nice enough to start up for us before our arrival to warm up the place. Lovely! And my wife ALWAYS loves...
The 2 bedroom farm cottage was an excellent choice for a peaceful retreat for our family. It is a good place to relax and a good location to stay for your visit to Cradle Mountain and surrounding attractions. Beautiful scenery around the farm, helpful staff resulting in a wonderful stay. We were given a free animal night tour and it was excellent. John was so knowledge...
We booked very late so we couldn't get the place right in the Cradle mountain so we decided to stay at Cradle Alpine Retreat which turned out to be very good. The host was very generous. We checked in quite late around 9 PM but it was very smooth. The room is very cozy and there was a heated mattress which helped a lot during the cold night. There also cable TV. Breakf...
After a full day's walk in Cradle Mountain, it is great to know that a good dinner will be ready when you return to Cradle Lodge. The chef may ask you what you might wish to have for dinner the next day, and the dessert will always be something familiar, but with a twist.
From the moment we walked into the reception we were greeted with a cold face. This is the only time around Tassie where we have to leave our credit card details on our checkin form. We asked a few questions around the area although we got our answers, they were accompanied with a few cynical laugh. The accommodation though is of very high standard, all the facilities ...
Michelle’s place was really great with everything that we required provided for. She also made us dinner of roast chicken and homemade green tea ice cream with poached pear which was delicious! Location is great provided you have a car and the place was really quiet with nice surrounding scenery. Night sky was full of stars too!

it is really amazing if you like living in nature. You can see the tasmania devil in the center and also there are many animals all around.
booked a night tour to view wildlife. it was actually seated on the bus and shone in search of animals around.
We spent only one night at the Cradle Mountain and did the safari to see the animals but you might find it boring as there was not much species you could see.
Great walks and sceneries. If you need communications to the outside world, make sure you are on Telstra mobile network.
Cradle Mountain isn't a city, it is a large national park in the middle of Tasmania. If you like nature, it is definitely worth going.
Go in the summertime. However the weather can be quite different during different times of day, so bring warm clothing.
