Hotel Monterey Le Frere Osaka
Umeda,Osaka - View on map
"Japan is tough for hotels...they are very expensive and the rooms are usually TINY, especially in Tokyo and Kyoto. This hotel was different. It wasn't cheap, but it was much less expensive than the hotels we booked in other cities, but the room was GREAT. The bed was the most comfy we had all trip. The view was excellent. The AC worked great. The bed wasn't in a corner--two bedside tables! And the lighting was thoughtfully done and not harsh. Water pressure was not quite as good as the other hotels we stayed in. The location is in a hotel zone in the north of Osaka, near the main station. It was a decent location. There is a whole maze of underground pathways/shopping areas that lead you to the various stations nearby, so it was always fun walking through those to hit the metro or JR lines. We walked a LOT though. So if you're not into that, maybe stay more central or closer to a station. But it was raining in Osaka and we spent half the time underground which worked out great!"

Hotel Shin Imamiya
Namba,Osaka - View on map
"The place is really clean i saw cleaners cleaning all the common area and they change bedsheets and clean room as per request. The location is very strategic as its near JR shinimamiya and subway shinimamiya and Dobutsuen mae subway station. Nearby 24 hrs grocery store ,family mart, daiso, don quijote and Tsutenkaku tower and osaka zoo. Staff is very friendly. i have stayed in many guesthouse in this area and i would say this is the best. For those saying the place is dangerous that is not true!!!! There might be some homeless people here but they are very old people which are not even capable of doing any harm to you. This is japan hahaha (not a 3rd world country) so it is safe everywhere i even walk late night here and its very safe in general in all parts of japan. Newly renovated lobby and small restaurant and takoyaki and ice cream shop has recently opened within the building. This place is best for budget and solo traveler. P.S. be aware there are some inconsiderate guests that will bang there room door even during sleeping hours (Koreans and Chinese are the most inconsiderate guests."

Hotel Universal Port Vita
Bay Area,Osaka - View on map
"It was our first time in Osaka & in Japan. Miss Kawahira made sure that we were treated well & that we had the best experience at Hotel Universal Port Vita. She personally wrote us a card to wish us a Happy 28th Wedding Anniversary. Miss Kawahira has excellent work ethics, is dedicated to her job and has a welcoming & caring personality. She went out of her way by providing us with clear instructions on how to get from Yokohama to Hotel Universal Port Vita by the Shinkansen train & then to Lake Biwa by the JR train. She recommended us to some areas of interest & even walked us to the pier to catch our boat ride to the Port of Osaka. I hope her manager will recognize Miss Kawahira for a job well done & make sure that she receives the employee of the month award for her outstanding service. Thank you, Hotel Universal Port Vita, for having such an exemplary employee work for you. Because of people like Miss Kawahira, we will stay at your hotel again. Mr. & Mrs. T. USA"

Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka
Namba,Osaka - View on map
"monterey grasmere osaka hotel is the recommended and best accommodation in osaka. i walked from jr namba station and could reached in 3 minutes. it was very convenience to access many places by public transportation. in addition, if you would like to hang out or go shopping at night in dotonburi or shinsaibashi walking street, you can access there by walking in 8 minutes. i could save the money for transportation and save my time to move other places. for accommodations, room was so clean and new. my family really liked bathroom at the hotel. and we could see downtown at night from our room which located in 31st floor. if compared with price, and quality i do recommend tourists stay at monterey grasmere hotel in osaka because there are many japanese staffs who can speak very well in english and chinese, including some korean language. Hotel Universal Port
Bay Area,Osaka - View on map
"this hotel is definitely the best option if you're going to universal studios in osaka. the price is incredibly reasonable and the rooms are the best in town. everything is clean and well maintained. i also found the rooms to be very spacious and a little more "western like". it's not for the downtown experience but a great addition to your trip if you're planning to spend a week or so in osaka. taking out money is a bit tricky as the lawson doesn't allow international visas. there is a 7-11 about a 10 minute walk from the hotel where you can take out funds. in fact, try to know where all of the 7-11's are in japan wherever you're staying as they are a great place for not only taking out money but also pigging out on snacks. happy travels. "Stylish and modern in a great location. what more could you ask for. The room was very spacious, bay window seat was a nice touch you dont often find in hotels these days. Amazing shower and products. Love this hotel. Slightly noisy (Saturday night) with sirens I presume from dotonburi area but only once or twice, not all night. Definatly coming back to stay again. "

Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka Yotsubashi
Shinsaibashi,Osaka - View on map
"Price was so good! I stayed 3 nights only $290 something CAD! And the room was big enough for one or two persons, especially there was some space for your big luggage. Even though it's a little far from Shinsaibashi shopping street, but actually only around 13 min walking distance. And there's a Family Mart and a coffee shop nearby. And the staffs were so friendly and helpful. They helped me book a Kobe beef restaurant in Kobe by phone. And the room I stayed was non-smoking, even though I didn't request specially. And it was quiet at night. I will stay in this hotel next time when I visit Osaka again."

Daiwa Roynet Hotel Osaka-Kitahama
Umeda,Osaka - View on map
"I stayed for 6 nights at this hotel. I stayed 4 nights first, then I left for 3 nights in Kyoto, and came back again to stay here for 2 nights. They provide luggage storage for free. The staff was genuinely help me when I checked in at night (23.00-24.00). Many thanks for Mr, Yahata. You are one of best hotel staff I meet. Location is superb. The downstairs to subway (Kitahama Staion) is only 8 meters from the hotel. One of the important thing about this hotel: you can ride train by Keihan Line to Kyoto directly from Kitahama Station. It is very convenient to travel between Osaka-Kyoto. It is also convenient to travel between this Hotel and Kansai Airport. (Only one transfer at Tengachaya Station). Superb! The beds were comfort and clean. The only thing that should be improved: The Laundry room only provides 3 machines and one of them is broken. I suggest they should provide at least 5 machines."

Hotel Elsereine Osaka
Umeda,Osaka - View on map
"The good: Hotel Elsereine Osaka is directed connected to the Umeda underground streets, so it is very convenient and easily accessible through public transit (both subway and trains). The room we booked is very spacious - at one time I have 5 open suitcases (2 large , 1 medium, and 2 carry-ons) laid out on the floor at the same time around me when I did my final packing. The room was also clean and bright, and the staffs are nice. The "bad": it is at the "tip" of the underground street, so it is a good 5-10 minutes walk from JR Osaka station. The closes subway station is actually Nishi (west) Umeda, from which you can onto the Yotsubashi line to Mamba station. Bottom line: if you don't mind a bit of a walk to the "central" Umeda area (is JR Osaka station), this is a great hotel to stay in Osaka.."

Hotel Hankyu RESPIRE OSAKA
Umeda,Osaka - View on map
"The hotel is very new, only opened in late November 2019. Location wise, it is absolutely the best!!! It is connected to Osaka Station and from the overhead pedestrian walkway (easier to maneuver the huge station city) and the Osaka/Umeda Station, we could go to Lucua, Hankyu, Daimaru, Hanshin and Grand Front Osaka departmental stores! It is simply amazing. The hotel room is clean and nicely furnished. However, due to the layout, it is too cramped for four of us. I thought the room is 47m2 but we really found it hard to move around the room. There are 4 single beds in the room and only one table top right in front of the TV with a smaller lower adjacent table where the kettle and cups are placed. We couldn't find anywhere to place our three midsized luggages other than the small floor area between the wall and the beds. There is also no shelving or hooks in the bathroom, so we have to place them outside below the sink. It would be nice if the hotel could free up more space in room."

More about Osaka

Having gotten its start in the 1500s when its grand castle was built, Japan's second-largest city is still a place where locals appreciate the value of fine foods and designer goods. While Osaka can't compete with Tokyo in terms of scale, it certainly has a reputation for refined living.

Most of the hotels in Osaka are in Umeda, near the bullet train station. These include major international names set in prominent entertainment districts. These hotels are convenient choices for business travelers as well as tourists.

On the surface, Osaka looks like any other big city, but it hides a mammoth shopping arcade underground. A couple of these are among the largest malls in Japan, and they're completely out of sight. Above-ground boutiques are also located in the Namba and Shinsaibashi districts. Osaka Castle, a Universal Studios theme park, and the enormous Osaka Aquarium are some of the city’s major attractions.

Osaka's international gateway is Kansai International Airport. The main terminal is a mile long and well equipped with dining and shopping facilities as well as a rail link to the city center.

Be sure to check out the interactive map of Osaka for information on hotel locations, attractions, and must-see destinations.
