Great hotel, Great staff and Great location!”

i was really worried about finding a good hotel based on reviews of hotels in general in singapore. it seemed you either had to pay a fortune or live with an out of date small room. i stumbled across the scarlet hotel in a travel book and i am so glad that i did! the scarlet was exactly what i was looking for. it was quaint but had great accommodations, the friendliest staff and the locale could not have been better for our purpose. we booked a balcony room which i highly recommend. the views aren't great from the balcony but it is a nice place to sit and enjoy some coffee in the morning or a drink at night. the hotel is close to the subway and chinatown. there is also a great food pavilion down and across the street that has numerous stands of local food for great prices. we also found chinatown to be a much more affordable part of town (bottle of beer for $5.90 singapore vs. $15 we paid in clark and boat quay). there is a great rooftop bar and restaurant at the hotel as well as an outdoor hot tub. my fiance thought the mattress was a bit hard but he is finicky in that regards and i had no issue with the bed. i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in singapore!

The Scarlet”

The Scarlet is a lovely, true Boutique Hotel in one of the most lively and interesting areas of Singapore - Chinatown. We stayed for in a Premium room - slightly smaller than expected. The room was clean, cozy and excellently appointed - the bed was large and comfortable, excellent standard of TV and free WiFi and quality furniture. Cozy and quirky would be our main thoughts. I would say that a paint job and perhaps a new carpet would be due sometime soon in our particular room but all hotels rooms need this attention eventually and Im sure this will be forthcoming in a hotel where attention to detail is so evident. Our welcome was excellent, with (despite the last review) bags being whipped out of the taxi practically before it had stopped and cold flannels and a warm welcome waiting at reception. Breakfast was a highlight. The service exceptional and both the buffet and ala carte options of high quality and more than adequate range and proportion. The downstairs bar and restaurant (although not used for eating) again presented comfortable and stylish surroundings with the usual attentive service. Didnt try the rooftop bar and restaurant but will look forward to that and our next visit (hopefully!!) All in all, a hotel that was difficult to leave, although the staff even made this special with tea & coffee being brought to our room for a very early wake up call and even an offer of breakfast at 3.30am!! Not something that you would get at many hotels. Thank you to the Scarlet and her staff for an excellent stay - highly recommended!

Excellent hotel and location”

The Scarlet Singapore Hotel is notable due to service and location. The staff is superb, helpful, professional, and personable - each and every one of them. Our room was equipped with a device called Handy that is a phone and sort of electronic concierge. We researched places to visit and restaurants. We booked tickets at much lower prices than other sites. It was so helpful to have this free device, which also included free international and local phone calls. Amazing. The hotel has a prime location. It is across the street from Maxwell Food Court with dozens of food stands, including one for the best Hainanese Chicken stalls in Singapore. The hotel is one block from Chinatown and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, three blocks form the Sri Mariamman Temple, etc. The hotel itself is small with a cozy lobby. Our room access was down a long sloping and twisting hallway. The room was on the small side, but well appointed and beautifully decorated.

A little slice of loveliness in a busy city!”

the scarlet hotel was recommended to me by a friend, and i am so glad they did. i have spent many years in the travel industry and have pretty high standards, which the scarlet fulfilled. upon check-in i was treated with courtesy by all the staff, even given a choice to look at two different rooms to see if i had a preference. it was also the first time i have ever seen a hotel pay close attention to requests given at the time of booking (for example, i wanted a room on a higher floor). i also needed to print out a boarding pass, this they immediately offered to do and did it for free- some touches like this make a big difference. the location is excellent, in a quiet-ish street, but only moments walk from the eart of chinatown and some chic boutiques around ann siang rd. obviously the rooms are not big, this is standard in singapore, but they are sympathetically designed and have a definite charm to them. people who like their hotels with a bit of character (the hotel is converted from a row of chophouses) will adore this place, people who want bland generic uniformity will not. i will happily stay there again, and recommend the scarlet to others.

my stay in scarlet hotel was probably the nicest stay ever in a hotel. the 3 stars made me feel more like 5 stars, just, that the rooms was a little bit tiny.all in all i can recommend this hotel for everybody who counts on a lovely, nice and verry clean place. all the staff is as friendly as human can be. for my next trip to singapore i will stay in the same hotel, or not visit singapore at all. in many 5 star hotel i have been, i did not feel as good as i felt in scarlet. It is in deed a little bit expensive, but what i got, was in value of each spended cent. both restaurants was so nice and foods so delicious, that i went there for all meals, from breakfast till dinner. even for just a mid-afternoon snack i was surprised, how lovely and inspired they present their plates and foods

An unique and exotic hotel”

My stay in Scarlet hotel was really enjoyable, the staffs are extremely friendly and helpful. They even gave me an compliment cake because it was my partner's birthday. The staff also explained the room details upon checking-in and told us the location of the jacuzzi pool and dining cafe. I am really grateful and appreciate their thoughts and effort. The hotel is pretty exotic to me as their design are rare and magnificent. You can see that their lighting and sofa are all very luxury and nice. The room are also well designed and clean. They paid much attention to the small items like the table lamp, toilet mirror and the cabinet. It is unlike the usual design that typically a hotel will have. Scarlet hotel is one of the hotel that have the best design that unique that stands out from the rest. The hotel is also near to many nice cafes that offers nice brunch and coffee/teas. Not only that, it is near to the nightlife where all the bars and clubs. You will definitely by spoilt with choices! Besides that, it is just 3 mins walk to the maxwell market that offers a lot of local delicious food that are cheap and affordable. However, my room air-con have some problem, it seem like it is not cold enough at times and we actually feel quite hot. But after awhile, the temperature seem to drop and cooling again and this actually happened a few times. Overall, I have an enjoyable stay in Scarlet hotel and will definitely visit there again. It seems like their suite are all very big and well designed!!!

Scarlet Review”

Great stay. From the moment of arrival to the end, all the staff were helpful and friendly. The Scarlet is not like most hotels, it has an atmosphere and guests are more inclined to say hello, or to have a chat at the bar than guests in a big hotel. The Scarlet is 2 minutes walk from China Town and 5 minutes from the MRT, so getting around is easy, and there is plenty of food choice in China Town and the price of a beer is reasonable and shopping for gifts of souvenirs is easy, The hotel food is also good and both food and drink is not at the top end of the market price range for Singapore, and if you like cocktails and wine it is priced better than the beer.

Absolutely wonderful”

The staff were delightful, attentive and welcoming. The Scarlet is not a pretentious hotel and seeks to make you feel at home. We had a staycation, and most of the time was spent in the hotel, because we simply kept falling asleep on the bed, which is soooo comfortable! The sound-proofing of the room seems adequate, as we did not hear much noise except for people passing by the corridor, which was faint as well. By the way, near the hotel is a cafe called K.Ki cafe, the cakes are expensive at $9 average a piece, but it is absolutely worth the price and is a must try! Ask the concierge for detail. There are many restaurants in the area, tried Jerry's BBQ for lunch, and honestly it is only so-so. I would trade the restaurant food for nearby hawker food such as that of Maxwell centre, Chinatown Complex and People's Park Complex Food Centre. Don't bother trying those restaurants lining Chinatown.

Great location, cool design”

We enjoyed our brief stay at the Scarlet. The location is great - just next to the Maxwell rd Hawkers & around the corner from the bars & restaurants of Club st. The staff at the hotel were terrific - check in & out were both quick & friendly. The room was not big, but well laid out, internet was quick. The hotel even has a small gym which was fine. Perhaps the only criticism is the price of breakfast - SG$26 ++ per person, but perhaps this just a reminder of how expensive Singapore has become. Then again, the Hawkers next door offers great options for food, cheap and good quality. We would stay here again.

Lovely boutique hotel 10/10”

Lovely Boutique hotel, pretty in pictures and actually prettier in real life. Partner complained hotels never have any colour, this boutique hotel had colour and class while still keeping to modern furniture taste. Lobby looks so glamorous, crystal chandelier, water feature, large blue luxury seat, red velvet couches, we took many photos here. Staff were impeccable in service and dress. We stayed at other hotels including noveltel and scarlet staff really offered a next level of service. Deluxe Room was extremely well appointed, very clean and quiet. We had ground floor room, room 102, so window was permanently blocked, no natural daylight, but I think if you ask for rooms above ground floor you have open windows and even balcony options if you pay more. We opted for no breakfast as Chinatown hawker centre was 2min walk away and we wanted to eat local food. No pool but a jacuzzi upstairs, jacuzzi is great for 2 (too small to share with too many strangers bare in mind) outdoors and great view over the Chinatown rooftops. Hotel gives you complimentary mobile with local sim... which we forgot to use the first 2 days... Just something extra that makes for a more comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend this place and would dream of staying again.

Another lovely stay”

This was my second stay at the Scarlet, both short stopovers on my way home from Europe. A small, unique hotel located right next door to Chinatown, the Scarlet has a wonderful staff who are very welcoming. The rooms are not overly large, but that's what you expect from hotels in large cities these days. While small though, both rooms I have stayed in were well appointed with comfy beds and nice furniture, bedding and bathroom amenities. I love the location, a short walk from the interesting streets of Chinatown with it's interesting and inexpensive souvenir shopping and food stalls, and the Chinatown MTR station. There is another MTR station nearby but I always went to the Chinatown one because I liked the walk. Another nice touch at the Scarlet is the offer of a shower before a late night airport departure... much appreciated! I look forward to more stays at the Scarlet.

A fabulous accommodation option in Chinatown”

My hubby and I were so happy that we chose the Scarlet Hotel for our one week holiday to Singapore. The location in the heart of Chinatown and opposite Maxwell Hawker Centre is ideal, the rooms are luxurious and serviced daily and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, whilst still respectfull of your privacy. In contrast to much larger hotels, the Scarlet provides excellent value for money. We will definitely be staying at the Scarlet on our next trip to Singapore.

Great hotel, great location”

we stayed at the scarlet hotel for 3 night and had a great stay. it is a block from chinatown, we were able to walk to the river to enjoy the restaurants and bars along the river and we took the hop on hop off bus (bus stop a block away) the first day to get orientated with the city. the room was a little small but who stays in the room. the bathroom was a good size and the shower was great. most important the hotel was very clean. don't miss the roof top bar, very nice to sit up there after a day of sight seeing and relax. my only complaint is breakfast is over priced for what you get (we only did it once), i know it's expensive in singapore but this was too much. other than that we loved the place and will be back.

Quaint, Warm & Comfortable”

The Scarlet is a great little boutique hotel tucked away very close to Club Street around China Town. I've stayed there before & will do so the next time I visit Singapore. I loved it then, I loved it even on my last trip. The rooms are small but then it's Singapore & everything is small & expensive unless you want to pay a lot more & get bigger rooms. The room is really comfortable, quiet & beautiful. The staff knows what they are talking & are very courteous. It's a great spot I don't know what more to say about this quaint but swank & stylish hotel that doesn't make you feel that you are in Singapore, the feeling is that this could be anywhere in Europe.

Lavish and trendy stay!”

We booked a standard room and got the surprise to be upgraded to the Opulent suite(a friend's christmas surprise!). It was fabulous and we had the best time in Singapore. Comfort, luxury,fabulous service. The room comes with a bathtub as well a separate shower and the private living room makes the stay even more enjoyable. We liked it so much that we decided to stay another four nights in the executive room. This room is smaller but yet nice and well furnished, the only problem is that it is facing the Maxwell food court and the main road so it gets a little loud early in the morning. We adore the Scarlet and have stayed here 4 times already, we love the trendy and luxurious aspect of this unique Boutique hotel where everything is perfect and made for you to have the most memorable stay in Singapore.

Great style and Location”

I stayed at The Scarlet Singapore Hotel for 5 nights while attending a conference and I'll stay there again next time I'm in Singapore. The style of the hotel is unique and fresh and the location is great too. There are lots of Bars and Restaurants with plenty of night life just around the corner. I was able to walk most places that I needed to go. The staff are very helpful.

Better than a 5* establishment”

Stayed in Scarlet Hotel for around 10days++, from check in to check out everything was smooth and easy. Rooms were a little small but they were very cosy and homely. Very impressed with the ladies at the front desk, for putting in an effort in remembering my name and was greeted everyday by name. Very central location with a lot of cabs around the hotel vicinity. Definitely will be returning to this hotel on my next trip down to Singapore, unfortunately they will be closed for renovation until the 1st of December. Good job scarlet hotel and team.

We've now stayed at the Scarlet 3 times and each time we have been very, very happy. Good location, very historic and interesting building, rooms are a good size and quiet, bathroom is lovely (though small), interior decoration of the whole hotel is wonderful, helpful staff, restaurant and bar are good, right behind a street of restaurants. It really is value for money with a deluxe room - good price in comparison to other hotels of similar quality in Singapore. We will stay again and again, we love it, it's quirky and interesting, but professional.
