Furama Chiang Mai (SHA Plus+)
Huay Kaew,Chiang Mai - View on map
"This big hotel has 17 floors and it is quite modern and luxurious. The rooms are way bigger than is normal in hotels in Chiang Mai. Our room on the 16th floor had a great view, and was just one floor below the rooftop where there is also a pool. There is another pool and a small gym on the 5th floor. There are some restaurants in the hotel, and two on the rooftop, of which one has a live band playing most nights. The cocktails that are served are also not bad. It is not located in the old centre of Chiang Mai but more close to the hipper and newer Niman neighborhood. A lot of restaurants, bars and shops can be found here. It is also on the way to Doi Suthep. All in all, I was very satisfied and I did not expect to have such a great time at a big chain hotel."

Panviman Chiangmai Spa Resort (SHA Extra Plus)
Mae Rim,Chiang Mai - View on map
"we arrived late at night to panviman and we regret that we only had 12 hours of stay in this extremely beautiful hotel. first, our room, even though we had to walk up 4 floors, we were happy and was amazed by the room and its facilities. however the best comes in the morning when we took a walk around. the breakfast was great and the outdoor workout facility is very nice. we tried to book for the spa however it was fully booked as we were too late. however we were able to go around the spa area and it was very beautiful. the swimming pool was amazing and the meditation cave was one of a kind. i simply say: panviman is one of the best 5 stars hotel in chiang mai."

Centara Riverside Hotel Chiang Mai

"simply the right choice to be based and explore chiang mai, or to relax at the gym and swimming pool / sun roof. wonderfully attentive staff. the concierge was so friendly and caring. he suggested what activities we could do and asked us what we preferred. when i told him that hiring a scooter would be our first choice he called the motor rent. within 15 minutes 3 scooters were delivered at the hotel for baht a day. far lower rates than elsewhere. yes, the hotel shows it age. during my first stay it was a westin, than sheraton and now holliday inn. i still remember when it was grand and one of the top places on the river bank on the out skirts of chiang mai. now it is a efficient place, great service and good vale for money. for 6 days we had 2 executive river view including a very good breakfast buffet, free wifi internet and 2 free laundry items a day. executive river view means spacious rooms with breathtaking views from the top floors. the best to explore and understand the lay out of the city and its surroundings. there is no best location in chiang mai. if located in the old city it is as for to the night market as from the holliday inn. staying in the night market area it is not so close to china town and its markets. doi suthep, ban tawai or sankamphaeng is out of the city any way and hiring scooters solves the hassle of finding tuk-tuks or taxis. despite of the free hotel shuttle to the night market. i will remember the holliday inn chiang mai as the right choice that contributed to a great stay in the north of thailand. Stay with Nimman Chiang Mai (SHA Plus+)
Nimmanhemin,Chiang Mai - View on map
"Stay with Nimman was the best hotel we stayed at throughout our travels around Thailand. The price was amazing for such a great quality place. Everything in our room, from the sheets to the bathroom, was spotless. And free minibar and waters? Yes! It is a bit of a walk to old town, but it is easy to take one of those red trucks. Also, there is a lot to do around Stay with Nimman as it is a more modern growing location. A must try in Chiang Mai is khao soi noodles!"

Siripanna Villa Resort & Spa Chiangmai (SHA Extra Plus)
Charoenmueng,Chiang Mai - View on map
"Luxury hotel with all the due comfort, perfectly clean and with a staff that is excellent in making your stay unforgettable. The pool is just gorgeous, the breakfast with a lot of choice between thai and occidental food. They did their best in organising trips for us - exactly what we wanted, without trying to sell us other "options". Our sun was ill and they organised fos us the hospital transfert. Their recommendation for the hospital and the medical care were at the most high standards - belive me I'm a doctor in Geneva - and the price was insignificant. Really I give a first class appreciation to the medical care our son received in Chiang Mai and an excellent appreciation to the way the hotel staff guided us in this matter. By the way, we've been in august - which is considered the rainy season - what I must say is that it rains a lot less that in Geneva august high season. Other good point about the "rainy season" is that all the rice fields are in water, all Thailand is green ans you have at least 20 types of fruits at each meal, most of them delicious and completely unknown for the european I am till now. Concerning the location, is a bit excentric from the downtown but this is quite an advantage because is quiet and the price of tuk-tuk taxi is very low. If you go there by car a good GPS combined with the map the hotel provides you on the web, will get you there witout problem. I can only recomment this hotel for people that are visiting Chiang Mai."

Eurasia Chiang Mai Hotel (SHA Extra Plus)

"Elegance of yesteryear, a little tired but still lots of lovely touches. Great room, lovely pool area and grounds. Yok on corner for staples like milk etc, BIG C 15 mins walk across highway though, Central Festival 25 mins walk, lovely centre with awesome food park but tuk tuk and songthaews run frequently. Turn left out of hotel, 6 mins walk, down tree lined lane to lovely cafe, The Loft. Free shuttle to Old City between 10am-10.30pm. The staff were lovely, helpful and kind. Will stay there again when next in Chiang Mai."

Top North Hotel
Old City,Chiang Mai - View on map
"This is about the 8th time we have stayed at Top North, why? Because it is inexpensive, central to everything, clean and generally quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast whilst not lavish is suitable and sufficient for the general traveller. One not of caution, this time we were allocated room 407, which was roomy, clean and comfortable and provided a quiet nights rest. However for the infirm or elderly the shower/bath may be an issue as it stands approximately 70 cm - 2'4" inches high making access difficult for the elderly or anyone with hip or back problems. Our friend was allocated room 400, which had a lower shower/bath access. The owners have over the years slowly improved all the facilities in the hotel and it is now (for me) one of the best 'value for money', location wise hotels in Chiang Mai, with its large pool, pool bar and in-house massage facilities."

U Nimman Chiang Mai (SHA Plus+)

"It was hard to find a hotel which accommodate 4 people before going chiang mai. U Nimma Chiang Mai was only one options I can choice and it has been found that it is the best hotel in chiang mai since gool locations and reasonable price ( considering facilites) and kind staffs as well. but if you have plan to enjoy swimming pool you will be a bit disappointed due to size of it. Despite of this, we will be satisfactory with swimming pool owing to cleaness and view showing the main city and road. by the way, if you guys have plan to go chiang mai and still looking for hotel. you' d better to book here now. believe me. More about Chiang Mai

Located in the north of Thailand, Chiang Mai is the country’s second largest and second oldest city. As such, it provides an excellent base from which to discover the culture of Thailand. Hundreds of temples are scattered throughout, and anywhere visitors go, they are sure to see pagodas peeking up over the tree line. Visible from all over the city, Doi Suthep Mountain features the most dignified temple of the area on the fringe of the city center.

Shopping is certainly an option here, especially for those looking for handicrafts, delicate carvings, silk, and original artwork. Other than the typical tourist finds of shopping and popular sites, guests can also really immerse themselves in the city by enrolling in cooking, language, yoga, or massage classes. Guided meditation retreats to mountain monasteries, trips to conservation projects such as the Elephant Nature Park, and homestays in remote hill-tribe villages are also very popular for visitors of Chiang Mai.

In the evenings, international restaurants and nightclubs can be found throughout the town. Riverside clubs, the hostess bars of Loy Kroh, and the ultra-chic lounges on Nimmanhemin Road all provide fantastic opportunities to celebrate the memorable experiences gained while in Chiang Mai.

Those traveling to Chiang Mai will be served by Chiang Mai International Airport.
