the best resort at ao nang beach ”

i stayed in a deluxe room on a 2nd floor at golden beach resort (gb) in june 2011. overall, gb is by far the best resort at ao nang beach (an). the reception area was pleasant with a small library and daily newspapers. all staff in all areas of gb were friendly but some spoke very little english. the room was spacious and clean with two large single beds joined together, plus tea and coffee facilities, dvd player, and non-digital tv with newsasia and deutsche tv in english (no bbc and one film channel with weak reception). there was a combined shower and tub in the bathroom, adequate gel and shampoo (no lotion), excellent water pressure and good towels. the room had a comfortable sitting area and a good balcony with a view through trees to the pool. deluxe rooms are in blocks labelled a and b three floors high (a-rooms have a mountain view, ground = 1st floor). there are no lifts. the pool and jacuzzi were excellent, clean and well-attended, and in pleasant surrounds. there is no sea view from the pool or any deluxe room. its 'pavilion' rooms are bigger and their bathrooms have a separate shower and tub, and a window for natural light. they also have a small bay window with settees inside and a very small and public patio outside. the 'executive pavilions' have a very attractive outdoor spa bath under a glass roof. some of these have a sea view restricted by leafy trees along the beach. a quiet and narrow, paved road separates gb from the beach. the breakfast room is small but has a seaview. breakfast is simple and adequate, not lavish, and changes a little each day. service was good. each night, a guitarist plays quiet music for the open-air restaurant overlooking the beach. gb is 200m from the an shopping area. there is no boutique shopping centre in an or krabi town (30min drive away) but there are two large department stores halfway between krabi and the airport.

I've been to Phuket before, but this was the first time in Krabi. I would highly recommend the Golden Beach Resort as a place to stay and a great location on Ao Nang Beach. It's a much better location than Phuket and just walk out to the beach and see the view, its incredible. We stayed in one of their Garden Suites. These are completely round room in a stand alone building surrounded by beautiful garden with a private balcony - an excellent place to sit for morning coffee. The resort has a fabulous pool and great restaurant which I found not to expensive for a beach front resort. The area is quiet as it sits along a small 2 lane road off the main beach road so no traffic. Good shopping and dining places are in easy walking distance. My visit was during the Songkran Holidays, even though this is a major holiday for Thailand everything went well. The resort has a tour desk but I recommend pre-booking your tours to places like the Phi Phi Islands before arriving thru Viator.com.

Nice, clean resort with good breakfast, good location”

So I checked out many reviews of hotels in this area and I can say that I am glad I did and that I choose Golden Beach Resort, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was really good and one of the highlights was a massive swimming pool, good restaurant for evening meals watching the sunset over the water. If i can pick at anything i would say that the TV's in the rooms are all running on anoluge and not good reception, so all fuzzy and not many channels. the other thing which i i would say the biggest problem i found if your an avid swimmer like myself then Ao nang beach is not a swimmers paridise because of the boat traffic it makes the water not clear to see when swimming. you have to take day trips to some of the small islands or Railey beach to get perfect swimming session in. On the plus side Ao Nang does offer a nice vibe, good place to use as a hub, and nice evening walk along the beach, the shops, food outlets, and food market offers some of the best food.

Exceptional”

We first visited Ao Nang 26 years ago, when it was a little village, stayed at the hotel next to this one. We have bee back about three times, staying in different hotels this was our first time in Golden Beach resort. Because it was low season, we could stay at one of their top rooms, right on the beach. Beuatiful room, lots of space, great terrace outside to wathch the trees and the beach, and the parade of people walking past. Easy walking distance to the centre of the town, yet secluded and not affected by traffic. I can highly recommend this. My only negative comment would be a disappointment that the Wifi/internet connection was only working sporadically. But this was our sixth hotel in Southern Thailand on this two week trip, and it had been poor connection in each of the previous ones, so maybe it was not a issue the resort could have done much about.

The best in AoNang”

Hi, So my husband and I just returned from our Thailand trip. We stayed fro two days in Krabi. I had booked the room with Golden Beach resort. We arrived at around one and within 10 mins had our room ready. We were given a free upgrade to Private suite which was overlooking the Ao Nang beach. The room was just fabulous and spacious. The staff is very courteous and helpful. in terms of cleanliness it was great. The location is great as I already mentioned, the beach is right in front of your room. the food is also great. There is a nearby market and cheap restaurants offering very good, value for money offring food. you get plenty of vegetarians options as well. All in all a five star to this place.

We Loved Golden Beach Resort!”

Golden Beach Resort is the best location in Ao Nang, right across from a beautiful beach. What we loved the most was the amazing staff. We have never had staff be so accommodating and helpful in any place we have stayed. They escorted us to our upgraded room and made sure we were comfortable. They asked if they could call our tour when our pickup was late. They took care of our luggage and let us use the pool after checkout. They came and found us when our airport transportation arrived. We very much enjoyed the beautiful room and grounds, the good breakfast and everything about our stay at Golden Beach Resort.

The Best of Ao Nang”

Golden Beach is an excellent hotel for its class. Its location is the best feature as it is located within metres of the beach, the beach massage tables and the town of Ao Nang where shopping and restaurants are in abundance. Ao Nang is the access point for many attractive islands and snorkling, using speed boat or long tails which park at the beach. It is also located adjacent to magnificent limestone cliffs and is very picturesque. Yes it id a tourist town and there are hawkers on the beach and in the streets, but they are not aggressive and a polite no worked every time. I paid for a deluxe (standard) room and was upgraded to a pavilion suite, which was very impressive in its meideval like design. Noise was minimal in the rooms and they were enormous and functional with quite glamorous bathrooms. The pool is large and is a comfortable space adjacent to the reception area. Minor issues were the ocean and the pool were very warm - a bit too much like a bath. The breakfast was adequate but no great variety and the bacon was like leather straps - although the eggs were excellently cooked. Internet service was contankerous and there was little support from staff. The room safe was at floor level and with a tiled floor my 60 year old knees were not appreciative. We didnt try the restaurant for dinner as the town had plenty of cheap places - cost for two around $30 including beer. We got a direct flight from Sydney to Phuket and return so we got a taxi back from Ao Nang to Phuket - about 180km - at a cost of $80 for two. We will definitely go back to Golden Beach and next time a little more exploring outside of the town activities.

Best location on Ao Nang”

We loved this location: still on Ao Nang boulevard, but not on the road side anymore where the cars are, but more towards the rock that is connected to Railay Beach. So, at night very quiet. Furthermore the breakfast in this hotel is great, big variety of foods and they also change them day by day. The bungalow we had was setup very great in a circle, so the space and acoustic inside was fantastic. You are at walking distance from the taxi-boat service that take you to the island trips, Railay Beach, Chicken- and Phoda island and there is space in front of reception to park your car for free. We will definitely try to come back to Golden Beach resort again in the future when we visit Krabi again.

Amazing holiday resort”

We had a 13 nights stay at Golden Beach over the New Year 2015 celebration. We enjoyed it a lot. This hotel has very beautiful, spacious bungalow style rooms. We stayed first in P125 with a seaview and later on in P110. They were both in very good condition and comfortable. Extra points I want to give for the superwide bed which allowed our small son to sleep near to us. The pool area is beautiful and there were always sunbeds available. The pool is big enough for adults and the childrens' pool is good for the small kids. Breakfast offering was good with a wide selection of warm meals. Golden Beach is situated perfectly on the beach and very near to the Ao Nang dining and shopping opportunities. I say that it is not a real 4 star hotel in all measurable areas, but a nice 3+. For the new bungalow P125 as such I could give 4 stars. I recommend this hotel strongly, and we will go back there, for sure.

Decent stay & great location at Ao Nang”

I booked two rooms and stayed at the hotel from June 2 - 5 with my wife and three kids. The hotel is about 30 mins from Krabi airport and just next to Ao Nang beach and within 5 minutes walk to restaurants, souvenir shops, money changer and ATM. I paid per room/night including breakfast which I think is a good deal from Agoda. The rooms are clean, bathrooms and aircons all working perfectly and they also have TV / DVD player and a safe in the room. The bed is a little stiff for my liking other than that not too much complaints. Breakfast is very decent for the price and they even throw in a free breakfast for my 6 year old, they only provide breakfast for 2 guests per room. My kids love the pool but my only complaint is on the finishing on the edge of the pool. Currently is low season, we did massage in the hotel overlooking the beach which is awesome and they even offer 50% off during happy hour. Happy to stay here again.

Golden Beach Resort”

The Golden Beach Resort is right on Ao Nang beach. The beach is quiet and clean (you can visit the monkeys at the east end of the beach). We stayed in an ocean view Pavilion which was wonderful. The staff are very attentive and seem genuinely pleased to assist us. The resort is well maintained with lovely gardens that ensure privacy of the Pavilions. The restaurant is great, with a full buffet breakfast daily, and great seafood. Highly recommended.

Perfect oasis to unwind”

We stayed for 5 nights after backpacking through Thailand with our teenaged kids. Location is right on the beach. Fantastic pool and views. Ao Nang beach is not the prettiest in terms of white sand and turquoise water, but it is a great location. Check google maps and the road and pictures will give you a great idea of the location. Hotel much prettier than some of the pictures shown on TripAdvisor. Lots of choices for shopping and eating- all steps away from the hotel. We took a day trip to some of the other nearby islands - well worthwhile even though all of the beaches and coves were teeming with other tourists. If we had to do it again, we'd still choose Golden Beach as a base but choose smaller places to visit by day trip boats. We really enjoyed our stay and

Stayed in the pavilion suite for three days and found the location of the hotel to be heavenly. The place is very peaceful, soothing and relaxing. Its right on the beach and is the last hotel before the cliffs which makes teh location even more amazing. The hotel is a around a hundred meters from the main shopping area in ao nang. Basically, everything about the location was amazing. The pavilion suite i stayed in was very good too. The room was spacious and with all necessary amenities, clean bathroom and all. The thai thai restaurant with its sitting area next to the beach and the thai thai massage parlour again next to the beach were both as good as it gets. The quality of the food for lunch/dinner was one of the best i had in thailand. The tour service at the hotel lobby was very reasonable cost wise and the service was good too. Would use them again. The only downside about the hotel was the breakfast. I think it needs to improve alot. In short, a highly recommended hotel and one i would love to stay in again if I'm heading to Krabi/Aonang.

Golden View”

Golden Beach Resort offers a perfect position directly opposite the beach and adjacent to one of the areas soaring limestone cliffs. We stayed in the older building of the resort. Our rooms, while dated, were well provided with all we needed although the beds were extra hard and the linen, while fresh every day, could do with updating. We were very happy with the location of our rooms, on the ground floor just near the pool.The pool was fine during our rainy season stay, but I think it would be quite crowded if the resort were full. There are newer, larger Pavilions spread through the extensive grounds of the resort. We found the staff very accommodating and friendly especially Sompong the food and beverage manager. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast time. We loved Ao Nang and enjoyed our stay at Golden Beach Resort

Resort Right Next to the Beach”

This resort could be one of the best located beach front resort in the Ao Nang beach area. The beach, although it is a public beach, is right in front of the resort. Dinning, shopping, convenience stores, land and sea transportation facilities, taxi and public bus are all within walking distance from the resort. My family of three stayed 4 nights in a garden view family suite. The room is big, clean and comfortable, and it provides the needed privacy. The breakfast buffet spread is reasonably good, with both local and western breakfast available. The swimming pool is clean but it needed some maintenance to replace the loose tiles. The staff are helpful though some of them have limited English vocab. However, Wifi in the room is intermittent with connection unavailable sometimes. Anyway, Wifi is always available at the resort lobby and restaurant. My family enjoyed our stay and will stay here again on a return visit.

Don't tell anyone about this place!”

It really is right on the beach front - a one minute walk from my room to golden sand is all it took. Good pool, about 30m in length but the noisy fountains don't really need to be on from 0800,do they?? Everyone will want to come here once they find out about it...5 minutes walk along the beach road and you're in the middle of Ao Nang - rather quiet in mid September as it's low season and rainy season. Be prepared for the rain-you can buy a poncho for about £1 in one of the many convenience stores and look into undercover stuff if it does pour down. I booked a Thai cookery school for about £25 on the day....far cheaper than if you book before you go and they send a minibus to pick you up in good time. I'll be looking to use the same resort again 😊

Great position”

We were only in Krabi/Ao Nang for a short time and have a toddler, so we wanted to be close to the beach as possible. Golden Beach is just across a small service road from the main beach and long tail boat 'station' to Railay, so it was perfect. A few minutes' walk to the main strip and lots of restaurant options. Easy to get anywhere. The hotel itself had a big pool and kids' pool (which was 60cm, so a bit too deep for a toddler), plus volleyballs and fountains and lots of sun loungers. The room was larger than expected (R120- circular first floor). No clear ocean view, but the sitting nook opened up to a green view of the garden and a sliver of sea in the background between bungalows. Shower at 5am took a good 10 minutes to heat up, but stayed steady. Deep bathtub. Wide not-hard beds. Plenty of storage space. TV and DVD player. No complimentary internet in the rooms, only in the lobby. Buffet b'fast 350 baht, which is the going rate. Car to airport more expensive, so book elsewhere.

Great Location, lovely hotel, great food.”

We stayed in the Pavilion Suite for 3 nights, and it was a wonderful stay. The rooms provide absolute privacy, spacious room area, bathroom with separate shower area and bath tub area. All the basic amenities required on a beach holiday (separate towels for beach, umbrellas, a carry bag) were provided. Our room provided a beautiful view of the sea. Also, the hotel is located close to all good restaurants and the market place. Staff was pleasant, polite and helpful at all times. Overall we had a great time at Golden Beach Resort, Krabi. (we missed a microwave oven's presence in our room)

Golden Beach Resort in June”

I was very surprised that the weather was so nice in June in Krabi, it didn't rain once. With the hotel basically on the beach you get a constant breeze which is very pleasant and non-existent minute you get 2 blocks away from shore. Called hotel to arrange for airport transfer and they recommended taxi desk at airport which was in fact cheaper (600THB). There are restaurants, shopping, plenty of massages and excursions available nearby. Make sure to negotiate for better rates in slower seasons. Pool area was nice and well cared for and food/drink prices were not more than other local spots. Room was generally comfortable and clean w a modern bathroom, nice tub, little fridge and HBO. Cute little balcony w chairs but bed was v hard and both my friends and I ended up w sore backs during stay as a result- happily there are cheap and cheerful massages available everywhere but still was painful. Krabi is a great place to relax and explore the beautiful islands and sites nearby (really enjoyed the half-day cooking class for 1000 THB and full day island speed boat tour for 900THB!) but not for big clubbing/wild nights out thankfully. Great spot for long weekend getaway from BKK and will consider staying at Golden Beach again as it was good value and very convenient for all that Ao Nang has to offer.

Absolutely fantastic!”

Hi - I stayed at Golden Beach for 7 nights and it was amazing. The resort is in the best location and the staff are amazingly sweet and so helpful. The pool is lots of fun and the rooms are cleaned nice and early, so you can come back and relax! Location to the beach is superb, right opposite and the Ao Nang shops and boats to the islands are right at your door step! Definitely come back here!
