A jungle wonderland”
This is my third visit here. Somkiet Buri is one of those rare gems that could pack a lot more rooms into its spacious grounds to pump a lot more income into its owners' hands. Instead there's frog ponds, meandering brooks and over 200 meters of wooden walkways traversing a jungle like garden of over fifty plant species from cocoanut palms, banana trees and bamboo to smaller species of flowers and ferns that is home to large colored carp, frogs, large lizards and squirrels. What Somkiet offers that few other hotels and resorts cannot begin to match is a feeling of "Why leave to go anywhere else" when what I'm really looking for is all here?" For instance, we never went outside the Somkiet Buri for meals feeling why should we go elsewhere in Ao Nang in order to pay higher prices for our meals at places that provide a lot less atmosphere? We will continue to explore other areas--for instance Railway, Phi Phi or Ko Lanta which we have not visited before but when it comes to Ao Nang we are always going to consider only The Somkiet Buri

Incredible tropical paradise”
My daughter and I felt completely enthralled by the lush tropical beauty surrounding Somkiet Buri! A friend who lives in Thailand suggested this resort and we were so thrilled we had used his idea to stay there. All the staff was friendly, helpful -- the only person who needs some training in customer relations is the woman who works at the reception...she was brusque and gave the impression that she was being bothered. She was efficient, but did not give a friendly attitude. The pool is beautifully taken care of and a perfect place to relax and cool off. The breakfast buffet was different every day, offering Thai specialties as well as omelets, pancakes, yogurt. The fruit was always luscious. The room was very comfortable, but did not have anywhere to place our belongings, so we had to live out of our suitcases for the whole week. We did hang up some items, but otherwise, it was strange. Also, the floors should be washed, not just dusted, every day. We loved our large deck area, and spent more time there than we'd planned because two of the days we were there, it rained continuously. All in all, Somkiet Buri is a real haven. The good part is that it is within just a couple of blocks walk to the main shopping/dining area in Ao Nang, so that was good, as well.

Best resort at Ao Nang Beach”
After just having spent my fourth visit to AO Nang Beach and having experienced three other hotels, I feel it's fair to say that all other hotels and resorts I've seen here fall far short of Somkiet Buri. I really don't think there's a bad room in the entire place which is unique in that it is a lush tropical garden filled with many varieties of plants and trees, several small ponds, a meandering stream and an extensive wooden walkway that give it a character that none of the others have. Its restaurant is an open thatched roof affair that offers numerous Thai dishes starting in the one hundred baht area (the place doesn't gouge you like so many others do). Its nicely sized swimming pool is magnificent. This place is so good that it's worth staying here even if all you do is to stay at the hotel, which is a distinct possibility considering that the Krabi area is subject to some rather extensive rainy periods.

great location”
ao nang is made up of 2 main streets. the one that somkiet buri is on is where most of the shops, stalls & restaurants are located, the other street is mainly construction. across the road from somkiet is starbucks, 7-11, and the bank. next door is a great tour booking agency, and a fantastic spa (10m away). restaurants & bars are located to the right & left & across the road. the location is fantastic! and although being in the middle of all the action, the resort is very quiet because it's surrounded by a lush garden, giving it a real tropical feel, it's not a cold concrete building. the service is good, rooms large, bed firm and comfortable, breakfasts adequate. short walking distance to beach and beachfront shops & restaurants.

Jungle paradise with exceptional service”
We loved our stay at Somkiet Buri Resort! The hotel is set away from the road in Ao Nang and in the middle of a jungle setting with wooden walkways to the rooms. The resort is small and cozy and the staff are very friendly and provide excellent customer service. The rooms are spacious and clean, with a lovely pool. Although it is a distance from the beach (about 300 meters), there are lots of shops and restaurants in the area. This was one of our favorite hotels in Thailand! Highly recommended!

Qyiet retreat in a great location”
We stayed at Somiet Buri for 10 nights and it was a perfect start to our trip. What we liked best about the hotel is the fact that you are close to everything Ao Nang has to ffer whilst being near the end of the beach which is the quietest and nicest. Somkiet Buri itself is a quiet retreat from the main town. A driveway leads down to a jungle styled quiet hotel. Each room has a balcony overlooking the pond or jungle gardens. Wooden walkways lead to each room/pool/retaurant etc. Pool was always clean and was not busy. We only ate in the restaurant for breakfast but this was good. The staff were friendly. The bathroom was clean and spacious. Beds comfy and large. Rooms were very spacious. Overall a very pleasant stay.

A very good choice at Ao Nang”
I stayed 4 days with my wife and 6 year old boy at Somkiet Buri… We had a great time… Our Pool View room was nice and spacious with a nice view on the pool. The whole hotel is surrounded by jungle like vegetation that gives some nice shadow even in the pool area. The pool is nice for kids as it is shallow one side and gets deeper to the other… The breakfast is great/ nothing fancy but everything was good. Lunch and Dinner we took several times at the hotel and I must say it’s much better than a lot other restaurants in Ao Nang/ real Thai food ;-) The hotel is just a few meters from the main street that leeds to the beach. The position is perfect . You enjoy the calme of the Hotel and you are close to everything you need… I would definitely come back to this hotel...

Nice hotel”
Somkiet Buri Resort Krabi is located few hundred meters away from Ao Nang's main street at the end of silent street. With very stunning garden it makes you feel almost lik in the middle of jungle. When we visited this hotel, it had very few quests, which was perfect for us, as we dont like anyway crowded places. Hotel staff was very helpful. However there was minor construction work in progress at the time of our stay.

Big and spacious room”
Upon check in, the staff greeted us pleasantly. it was a different experience for us, not the usual hotel/resort. it felt like we were in the wild in the forest area, with nature surrounding us. That being said, mosquitoes there were inevitable, the moment u step out of your room, you will easily be a buffet spread for them. The room Somkiet Buri is very spacious, with almost all the appliances you will require for a stay. TV with limited channels, however they provided DVD player. there wasnt much entertainment in Krabi hence we thought of utilising the DVD player. We wanted to look for CD shops that sells DVD to entertain us at night, however we were not able to find any shops selling CDs in Krabi. =( Balcony is a good place to relax in however the mosquitoes would really irritate you till you surrender and run indoors. The room we stayed in played loud music for us every night = the aircon. If you are a light sleeper, the aircon would definitely be a negative point. They even provided outdoor slippers, for you to proceed to their pool. 2 different types of colored towels. 1 for personal use in the bathroom while the other for you to bring to the pool. Bathroom slippers and robe provided as well. Breakfast Any buffet spread for me is definitely adequate. hence Somkiet provides an adequate spread of food to keep me satisfied till lunch. The negative point is that the outdoor dining area is manifested with ants. they drop from the roof and continue crawling on your table or your plate. However this really adds on to Somkiet being in the "nature" and also it isnt sheltered from your room to the dining area, so it gets a little inconveninet when it rains, however there are umbrellas provided in you room, which is what i feel they have really provided a good service by thinking though all possible "Add-ons" to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Well thought of services=) Surroundings Generally there isn't much in Krabi. hence the location of Somkiet is

Great location, a nice retreat”
We really enjoyed our time at Somkiet Buri. The setting is magnificent, with spectacular views of the cliffs from the jungle setting. The rooms are located along wooden walkways through the 'jungle', centred around a nice pool area. Also, it's set back from the main road which mean it's well sheltered from the noise of the streets. Only a quick walk to the beach and the centre of Ao Nang, and and there's plenty of shops and stalls right outside the entrance. We got our room at a great rate due to the time of year we went. I'm not sure if it would ordinarily be worth the full rate or not. We felt like we got great value for money, as this is a real oasis amongst hustle and bustle of the busy Ao Nang area, but if you were paying full rates, the rooms are a little dated now and the electrical wiring was all over the place! Sometimes we couldn't get lights to turn on at all, or turning on the TV would turn on the bathroom light instead, and so on. It was weird! The setting probably makes up for it all, though, and the rooms are still large and perfectly serviceable, with all facilities including cable TV, mini bar, separate and spacious bathroom and a beautiful balcony to sit out on and soak up the setting with a drink or two. It's probably just if you want the very latest, you may get something a bit newer for the same money. Didn't bother us at all though. With such an abundance of massage and spa places just a few metres out on the streets, I really don't know how some of these places justify their spa prices! You can get a luxury, quality treatment for at least a third of the price right outside the entrance, and if you go down to the beach area, the same treatments (though perhaps not as professional) may be a fifth or even a tenth of the price or less. Of course you expect to pay more inside a resort, but the prices at the spa are disproportionately huge and you'd have to be crazy to use it when you could go to, say, 'Let's Sea, Let's Relax'.

The Oasis of Krabi!”
Ao-Nang Muang Krabi has much to offer its guests with a very vibrant and busy town which has an Oasis in the Somkiet Buri Resort & Spa. When you have experienced some of the local charm & excitement, it is really good to reflect & relax within its peace & beauty

Ticked ALL the boxes!!!”
i chose somkiet buri after reading hundreds of reviews. the only repeated negative i could find was the frequent reference to 'mosquitoes'!! once you see the environment of fish ponds, little waterfalls, and masses of greenery you would understand why. i arrived armed with an electronic room 'device' and coils of sandalwood to repel the invaders but we never felt a bite. having said that we did not have time to spend on our pool side room balcony after dark during our 6 night stay. if you want a great room you would not do bettter than room 2012!! this resort has only 30 rooms in perhaps 2 acres of gardens!! breakfast is not award winning by any stretch of the imagination but you would be difficult to please if you could not satisfy your hunger until you hit the restaurants for lunch. you would similarly be difficult to please if you didn't think the atmosphere of the open wall restaurant wasn't one of the best you've ever experienced! we saw the occasional comment about 'unfriendly reception staff'. neither of us could remember staff more friendly and more willing to go out of their way to assist at every turn. i even add comments from a husband and wife i met at the (immaculately clean!) pool who said how great the staff had been towards them and their 2 young demanding children. (i had another word for the kids but 'demanding' will suffice for this review!!!!) the reception staff even offered to take my new pair of jeans for me to a seamstress to take up the legs. i had been quoted 600 baht in australia and the job was done professionally for 60 baht ($a2)

Superb. The Pool-View rooms were fantastic!! ”
Our stay was wonderful. It is truly a lovely resort. Staff are very unobtrusive, but are always available and very helpful if needed. Somkiet Buri's location is perfect as it's right in the centre of Ao Nang (not Krabi town actually)and there is such a lot to do if you don't want to just chill by the pool. By the way, as this resort is run by Muslims, no alcohol is served on the premises. We got around this by buying ours at the 7/11 down the street and being discreet about it. Highly recommend this place!!!!!

Serene Sanctuary”
It has been an amazing stay. The forest-like resort environment is very 'out-of-city' like, despite being in the most happening Ao Nang location, and with the construction/renovation going on outside the resort didn't deter the experience much. Sampled some of the dishes in the menu for dinner, they were very delicious, better than the local restaurant nearby from the night before. Food price is also cheaper from the restaurants outside. Staying in the most middle deluxe triple room facing the lake felt like the best room there - plus the interior and exterior deco are wonderful with the huge size! The staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall a recommended resort to stay in Ao Nang, 10 out of 10 points for affordable price!

First timers in Somkiet Buri ”
The best 3 things about this hotel were: 1) Location - it is right at the heart of town area. For just 1 minute walk heading towards the main road, you'll be seeing a lot of food places (ie. McDonalds, StarBucks, local restaurants serving Thai Foods, Western Restaurants serving pizzas/pastas/steaks/etc. In just less than 5 minutes walk, you'll see Ao Nang Beach front. There are also bars/pubs that cater mostly to tourists & even the waiters & waitresses were very hospitable & friendly. 2) Friendly Staffs - when we walked in to the reception counter to check in, we were greeted by friendly smiling staffs. Although they cannot really speak good english, but their warmth & hospitality were amazing. When our hotel room's safe box was accidentally locked, a house keeper was immediately sent over to unlock the safe efficiently & assisted us to set the password. It was efficient & friendly service overall. The front desk staff was also willing to help us to call the separate tour package that we booked online & help us to speak to them as local to local talk is easier & faster. 3) I love the rain forest resort theme. It was totally different from those typical hotels. The room was inside a "forest" where you need to walk through a wooden path leading to the room. It was surrounded & full of greeneries (plants & trees). Although the resort is kinda dark during the night as the lighting is very minimal. The pool is also surrounded by luscious greenery which makes the whole experience very different from normal hotels. The place is very relaxing & soothing - totally a 360 degrees opposite from the city life. Overall, the entire stay is 9/10. It was great. We'll come back to this resort again & recommend to friends.

Heads up on Ao Nang Beach Somkiet Buri”
I'd put Somkiet Buri on a par with the Aol Nang Centara at a fraction of the price. Sensational landscaping with scenic wooden walkways throughout a lush jungle of tropical plants with an impeccably designed swimming pool all of which is lit up at night in just the right shades and colors. Great service from the staff

It was a fantastic experience.”
It was a wonderful experience in krabi. The beach and sea view here are way better than those in Phuket. Somkiet buri is a nice resort with beautiful garden view. It takes only less than 5 minutes walk to the beach and there are many restraunts and information centers around. But there is no hot drinking water supply, so you cannot make hot coffee or tea yourself.

Nice Hotel”
We stayed there on 25-30 August ,On arrival day ..the suttle bus from Air port to Ao Nang ( THB 150/person)very slow and bus was so old no energy,so our trip from air port to Ao Nang take 1.30 Hrs!! (In face on 30 Minute) The girl at reception smiling to us since we still walking on the street down to resort and call my name and ask for Agoda Voucher. First 3 days was rain and we did not get anychange to go to The Island or beach around , But we were really enjoy staying hotel , They have nice swiming pool, good spa ,Jungle around hotel really wonderful , Silent place even just 5 minute walk to Starbuck or Mcdonal. And they have a good returances around Ao Nang Rd. Hotel staff are friendly , room is big and clean, brakfast need improvement should be International(But we understand our period is Low season). We ate here only frist day then later day we ate outside.Should have jar pot for making coffee in superior room too.Not just for a expensive room only. In fact we booked here just 2 nights but later we determine to stay 3 more day and we ask the reception woman to give us a same price with Agoda and yes she gave us for that! My boyfriend really happy to stay there. If you come to Ao Nang,Let try to stay here!

A forest-garden setting not far from the beach”
f you like plants & wild gardens, you'll love this setting. Somkiet Buri Resort is off the main road, and yet a convenient walk to beach, maybe 5 minutes. I was able to read, get plenty of sleep, and take time to myself on the beach and at the hotel. On the downside - there was a small TV, but virtually no English channels (?!) & no DVD player. I am a reader, but on those rainy evenings it's nice to have a movie option. I expected to at least see CNN or BBC. I had my computer, so was able to watch DVDs purchased on the beach. Another downside - I was able to use one of the 2 internet stations in the lobby to reconfirm my flight, and make hotel reservations for Bangkok. Unfortunately the hotel has no printer for guests, so I had to go out to the main road and look for someplace to do this. A simple laser printer would be an inexpensive investment. Internet facilities, and a TV/DVD are valuable for travelers, especially in 'green' (aka rainy) season. On the positive side: the excellent air-conditioning was quiet & adjustable; room included a mini-safe, a small fridge, a sitting area & excellent bed/bedding (unlike my Bangkok hotel) plus a high quality bathroom. A real positive is the lovely porch with great lounge chairs - protected by greenery, so a little airless sometimes. The porches are staggered, providing a level of privacy.

hideaway vacation”
It is in a good position and 5 min walking from the beach. Can find a lot of stall or shops for meals just in front of the resort. We had a pool access room which was spacious, as well as its bathroom. They decorated my room with lots of flowers because we on our honeymoon. The terrace was wonderful with a view on pool and greenery. Somkiet Buri Resort is a very beautiful resort we will recommend this accommodation to everybody. and we would come back here.
