"We had 8 nights in a two room hillside room- the rooms were well appointed with a huge terrace with jacuzzis ( best to run any external jacuzzi to "clean" out the system - it may not have been used for sometime). The grounds, landscape and the animals make for a stunning setting. Fantail doves, rabbits, chickens, tortoise and goats along with some of the best orchids and other exotic flowers add to the overall impression. There is cable car to these rooms which we found nice and relaxing- it makes you slow down and relax. The location is not that far from Patong and the main shopping and nightlife. We would have given it 5 stars but one of the in-rooms safes never worked and they couldn't fix it- they did offer a move but as we had one safe which was working we stayed put, but it would be a big issue if we only had one room. The view from the terrace and the rooms was fantastic. The food and drinks are high for Thailand- but we had a tremendous dinner on the beach. The free form pool is huge and we had breakfast poolside every morning( Big selection) They run a free shuttle to Patong but the timings make it not convenient for a dinner in town but we had a hire car. This was our second visit to Phuket and we drove up to Phang Nga park and hired a longtail at a pier for a private tour around James Bond island etc. I must give a mention to Sunrise Divers and Jamie Monk ( check his blogs if you want to know anything about Phuket) my daughter did her Advanced Open Water with them and had a great time. We intend to return to Thavorn in the future."

"Just when I was beginning to feel jaded about Phuket, a weekend at The Naka Phuket has changed my perspective. I can only describe The Naka Phuket as simply spectacular. While many hotels in Phuket (or around the world) call themselves luxury and being a 5-star standard (almost 80% failed to live up to the standard!), The Naka Phuket, even though it is still half completed, has lived up, if not exceeded, its reputation being a truly luxury hotel. A hotel that I would ranked alongside the likes of Alila Uluwatu in Bali. Located in a secluded part of Phuket on the west coast, The Naka Phuket has its own private beach (clean, white sand), a large infinite swimming pool, a decent well-equipped gym, a beautifully constructed dining area (food was fantastic even as simple as pizzas)…last but not least - stunning and spacious pool side villas. My villa has all the state-of-the-art equipments, a balcony offering stunning view of the sea, comfortable king-size bed, full access wifi reception, indoor/outdoor shower areas, decent size villa pool. You can only wonder in awe by the architect who designed these villas. Have to mention the extremely helpful and friendly staff at the hotel (especially Komon, Ying and the restaurant staff), they were always eager to help, wearing a big smile while attending to your needs. This is what deepens the memory of a great hotel, the people. I simply cannot wait for the hotel to be completed - the Naka Phuket has simply raised the bar! P.S. there are several hotels with the name "naka" attached to it, make sure it is The Naka Phuket. "

"We travelled during low season, which meant Karon beach was relatively quiet. It was the second time I'd travelled to Phuket and we chose Karon beach as we knew it would be quieter than Patong with fewer (drunk) tourists. We were there for 6 nights (mid July) and lucked out with no rain, although I know it had poured almost constantly the week beforehand. The resort is a little dated and could do with some renovation works. Pool lovely and cleaned twice daily. We had a triple room (queen and roll away single bed) with pool access which was awesome. Free water supplied daily, as well as towels for teh beach, which is directly across the road. Beach itself is lovely and a lot nicer than Patong. Very clean and few locals trying to sell goods. Those that did pass weren't pushy at all. Sun lounges at the beach available for rent for 100 baht from memory. There are warning signs at the beach reporting strong currents...but there was always a lifeguard on duty. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was good...though you get sick of it after a few days. Had a good mixture of Asian and Western foods to choose from. Karon Plaza market (selling clothes, shoes, souvenirs etc) is right next door, as is a strip of restaurants, convenience stores and massage parlours. Some of the other resorts in Karon looked a lot fancier (the Movenpick, for example), however for the price, Woraburi is really recommended. If you're keen to go out every night, best to stay in Patong as Karon beach is a little far away (20 mins or so) and the Tuk Tuk costs add up. Woraburi provides a one way t/f to Patong twice daily. Just make sure you book in advance. Staff were great and helpful with tips about the area, including how best to get to Phuket town (massive night market where everything is a lot cheaper than in Karon and Patong...T-shirts 100 baht, Raybans 100 Baht, dressier tops 200-300 depending on the quality). We booked a few tours at a local tour agent which were great. Enjoy! "

"I chose this hotel based on reviews I read on Agoda and Trip advisor both of which were spot on. Whilst I had booked for a standard room on Agoda, I had put in an electronic request to the hotel via agoda to book me for a deluxe pool access room (the hotel has only 7 of these) and they were very responsive to my request almost immediately sending me an e-mail with confirmation and allowed me to pay for the difference upon arrival. We were a honeymoon couple and they set up petals on the bed, in the bathroom and gave us a baked treat upon arrival - of five that we stayed at, this was one of the two hotels who did this for us in Thailand. The hotel was great and I have no complaints except that the room we were given had twin beds joined together to make a double (I can understand this as they only have 7 of such rooms which are in high demand). Whilst the bed was large enough we had to get housekeeping to pad the mattress with a blanket to ensure that we did not feel the divide in the bed. Nevertheless the staff were very helpful and in fact they offered a free upgrade to a junior suite but in the end we settled for a free dinner treat (3 course meal which I must admit was fantastic and the best food we ate in Patong) as a compensation for not having a double bed as all the 7 rooms with pool access were fully booked during our stay there. I must commend one of their staff at the check in desk (her name is Patima) who was very sweet to us and went out of her way to help us in all ways. She was certainly the most professional person I came across in all the 5 hotels I stayed in Thailand and extremely helpful with a big smile on her face right through. A very accommodating and pleasant individual indeed. We lost our camera in Patong area the evening before and the next day when we checked out and they allowed us to have a late check out and also leave out luggage at the hotel until later that evening whilst we searched for our camera (which we eventually found!) thank"

"The Philipino's woman at the receptionist is so damn nice and with a great tolerance. We were rushing to find another hotel to stay due to the bed accommodation at our previous stay, instead of being fussy, she even help us in so many ways. will definitely stay here if we happen to go to Phuket again. Big room more than you can imagine, comfortable and it is so damn good with the location."

"This was our last hotel during our three week stay in Thailand. I have to say that this stay was on top of our list of best hotels in Phuket. For the money, our accomdations were excellent and we enjoyed spending time at the hotel. One of the most helpful and amicable staff members was a lady by the name of Alice. She helped us with requests and inquiries promptly and courteously. Also, Chan at the main lobby was excellent in helping us to check out effortlessly. As for the accomodation, the room was very big and full of ammenities that made for a comfortable rest and stay. One thing of note is the hotel's location. It is far from nightlife in Patong(which we really did not mind). We just wish there was at least a convenience store nearby or a few accessible restaurants that serve thai cuisine. Overall, a memorable stay in Phuket that we will not forget! "

"This place is heaven. We stayed here as the final part of our honeymoon and I wish we had booked longer. They provide free water taxi to get you on and off the resort for check in and check out. It is only 5 minute journey from mainland Phuket. To get the boat outside of the above 2 journeys it is about 100 baht each. The food is absolutely amazing. I have never been somewhere that offers such an amazing buffet - it is all as good as if you’re ordering it individually. They also offer really reasonable a la carte. It also has a more fancy restaurant ‘Koko’ at the top of the complex - food is beautiful and presented incredibly. The Koko bar is more similar to English prices. This hotel is more expensive to eat & drink at than mainland Phuket but you’d expect that at a private island resort. There is a gym which is good, 3 pools, 3 restaurants and the beach is gorgeous. The view is incredible. The staff are fantastic. It is really really clean to the point they have someone sweeping the beach repeatedly during the day. We had a garden view villa with a pool and it was incredible - really big spacious and a the pool was lovely. They have entertainment on 3 nights a week and have music playing by the bar. This place is so luxurious and I would recommended to anyone. "

"It was definitely one of te best hotel I have ever been! Just one short back is that my room is at level 3, and I brought my parents along, they have to climb the stairs up and down all the time as there is no lift which makes them tired but they themselves enjoy their stay at Phuket. I love the hotel! The breakfast are plenty of choices to choose from! The swimming pool are great too! The hotel room is big and spacious and there is a balcony that can see the seaview! The staffs are very friendly and nice! I will definitely come back to this hotel when I go back to Phuket! Well done! :)"

"Rated four stars for location only because it's on a hill. They do have a Tuktuk available to bring you to and from the main road (less than 2-minute ride) but up to 9pm only. Once on the main road, you'll find lots of restaurabts to choose from, a family mart, ATMs, massage and hair salons. Karon Beach is also one of the better beaches in Phuket. Hotel breakfast is so-so. Asian fare is ok but they could do better with the western dishes especially the bread and pastries selection. Hotel also needs to provide toilet paper with better quality."

"I stayed at the wonderful resort for 3 nights. We arrived after a long and tiring flight with Air asia , We eventually arrived at Karon Cliff Contemporary Boutique Bungalows Resort at 14.15pm, feeling tired and miserable and thinking what to do about purchasing toiletries and clothing to get us through the next 24 hours. We were welcomed by the wonderful smiling staff with a cooling towel and cold fruit juice. they would make all the enquiries on our behalf and that we should not worry. We had booked 1 studios for our stay but we were then upgraded to a deluxe suite. also provided us vouchers for a Complimentary dinner at the Hotels Italian restaurant as well as a complimentary boat trip to Coral Island. We had a lovely room that was right overlooking the ocean. Beautiful inside with very good air conditioning and a ceiling fan as well. Hotel grounds are stunning, staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The facilities are fantastic, had our kids been younger I'm sure we would have rarely left the resort. Having teenagers! The buffet breakfasts were amazing, wonderful choices available and a small wait to have your eggs cooked freshly in front of you did not seem much of a chore as I have heard others say. The location between Karon and Patong townships does mean a short taxi fare or a walk (too far to walk to Patong). We found it too hot to walk so used a taxi each time. we preferred to change our eating place for every meal as that is part of the holiday experience. Closer to the beach is best Beachfront means you are not far from pools and restaurants. Did see many apartments set back on hill which I would imagine would be quite a walk from the main area. “We were extremely lucky to get a room but any one cant imagine that Premium deluxe ocean facing rooms have large corner balconies and great view” "

More about Phuket

Being one of Thailand's most famous islands, Phuket is positioned off the southern coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea, featuring the golden sands, calm blue waters, and coconut palms associated with the perfect tropical vacation. Phuket Town is the island's main commercial area, and accommodation in the city center is cheap.

Phuket's most popular resort area is Patong. Fully redeveloped after the 2004 tsunami, Patong's main roads are lined with restaurants, shops, and countless bars and clubs. The nightlife here is legendary in Asia, and many book a hotel in Patong just to experience its lively after-hours scene.

South of Patong Beach is Karon Beach – a much quieter town with shops, restaurants, and bars that cater specifically to tourists. Kamala also offers a good range of accommodation and infrastructure with resorts becoming progressively more upscale towards Bang Thao, Surin, and Pansea beaches.

On the other side of the Phuket lay the islands of Koh Yao Yai, Koh Yao Noi, and Nakha Yai. Resorts on these islands assure secluded beaches and high levels of service.

Phuket is served by Phuket International Airport, about a 45-minute drive from Patong Beach and Phuket Town.
