Beautiful hotel in stunning setting”
This is my second time at the Dheva Mantra; I brought my boys to Kanchanaburi to visit their Great Uncle's grave in the Commonwealth War Cemmetry in Kanchanaburi and visit the historical sites of the railway built by the Allied POW's. They love the hotel, it's neo colonial architiecture, ivory white & dark wood. Even the standard rooms are very big (compared to many hotels in Asia), the pool and gardens are lovely with the River Kwae Noi passing gently by at the bottom of the hotel gardens. The hotel is located in the countryside less than 10 minutes from Kanchanburi and the Bridge. We arrangedransport with one of the orange tourist pick-up trucks (half the price of the hotel transport service which is expensive; I think they are missing an opportunity here..)The food is good but very expensive compared to what you can get for a fraction of the price in Kanchanaburi near the museum or bridge. Breakfast is included and was ok.

Amazing stay in a beautiful hotel”
We had an amazing stay at Dheva Mantra. The rooms were very spacious, and I absolutely loved the traditional feel to its furnishings - all that wooden furniture! The entire hotel had a colonial sort of architecture, and the lobby & common area was quite grand and beautifully done. It may not be located in the centre of Kanchanaburi, but we wanted to get out of the hustle & bustle and have a view of the River Kwai, which this hotel delivers in spades. Our room had a big balcony that looked out to the river, which made for a peaceful respite at the end of the day. The room was pretty huge and contained everything we needed. The staff was very friendly & personable, making sure our stay was just lovely and comfortable.

True Gem”
We had a wonderful stay, extending from 2 to 4 nights. After a large scale disappointment when booking (and luckily cancelling) at the resort next door, we stumbled across Dheva Mantra and couldn't believe our luck! The room was spacious and well appointed with a balcony overlooking the well manicured gardens, swimming pool and the River Kwai. The staff were very helpful and pleasant though not the strongest speakers of English. For us, the location was perfect being a little bit out from the town but only a five minute drive to the 'bridge'. It is helpful to have your own transportation while staying here. The facilities were outstanding with a spa, athletic facility (with helpful trainers) and a beautiful swimming pool. During the low season the price was incredible value for money. We plan to go back again as well as recommend to all who are going to visit Kanchanaburi.

Luvury Plus Plus”
our visit to kanchanaburi was to see and walk the hell fire pass and ride the burma railway. our hotel choice just needed to be fairly central. when we and the other couple pulled up to the dheva mantra we were gobsmacked, it was simply beautiful. we arrived late, because 'the king' held us up on the way out of bangkok, so all the lights were on when we arrived, and it was simply beautiful. the room (delux overlooking the river) was beautiful and big) staff could not do enough for us. from here we did a day trip to the elephant ride, tiger temple, river raft (guides english was ok but not great on this tour). next day we did a full day on the hell fire pass tour. we had 'tum' guide us (we asked for an excellent english speaking guide) from jumbo tours with us, her english was quite good and a sense of humor as well! i have read some reports to say you can't walk the bridge over the river...let me tell you, you need to almost take a ticket to get onto it with crowds!! next day we took a long boat ride down to the jeath museum and cemetary and we got dropped into town to do the markets and stayed for dinner. we took a motorbike/sidecar back to the hotel (all 4 of us) what a funny time. arrived safely!!! great hotel, brand new, great tourist city...loved it!!!

Beautiful Hotel, Lovely Staff, average Spa”
the dheva mantra is a little gem in kanchanaburi. although a little on the expensive side, the dheva mantra is a lovely hotel and spa with view across the river kwai. the staff at the hotel are very friendly and one of the receptionists that helped us had very good english which was a real help. the staff went out of their way to make our stay as easy as possible and even mended my shoes for me free of charge and without complaint. the hotel is not as polished as you would expect given it's grand appearance, however, if you're patient then the will certainly grow on you. the few bad points we had were: - location is a little bit further out of town than you would expect. when we booked a taxi we were a little surprised to get a song theow (open back truck basically) and for it to cost nearly 300 baht. - the spa is pretty average and you're probably better off organising day trips trekking and getting massages in town. - some of the staff don't have good english which can be a little frustrating. however, the hotel is primarily looking to cater to thai local tourists. good points however were: - very friendly staff who catered to our every need where they could. - great rooms. we were upgraded for part of our stay and got a lovely view across the river. - good breakfasts. quite a large selection of food and a lovely view out across the pool down to the river. - the staff arranged a lovely honeymoon cake and decorated the room for our honeymoon with no extra charge and no prompting.

Great hotel by Kwai river”
Dheva Mantra is second to none in high-end luxury hotel in Kanchanaburi. We stayed there for 2 nights with a good rate from Agoda and found that the hotel is surprisingly gorgeous! Compare to the other old five stars hotel in this province, Dheva Mantra is far more impressive with its Coloniel style with stunning high ceiling lobby. It gets really quiet at night and that's perfect for our getaway trip. the restaurants are fine, not that super delicious but good enough to rely on in a could of days. The hotel is just a several minutes drive from downtown and the famous bridge where you can enjoy the local foods and feelings. In short, it's a little expensive but it's a great hotel that's worth it.

Unexpected and super nice experience!!!”
When I first arrived, my friend said this seems like a very normal hotel and not grand at all as no one welcome. However, once we arrived the lobby, the staff came out welcome us and also gave us a very tasty cold tea! We did enjoy the hotel a lot! Very big and nice room, and maybe it was not peak season, there was not much guest, when we were in the hotel, it seems that the whole hotel belong to us. The pool, the spa, the gym, wherever we went to, only 2 of us. I really love and enjoy that. The staff were friendly and nice, we went to the Bridge in Kanchanaburi, she got a very nice car for us which is not too expensive. When we back from the bridge, the restaurant is terrific!!! We went to the restaurant Tiara, it is a western restaurant, however, we went to thailand for thai food, so we requested thai food. The chef is really nice, and talked to us for a long time. We really enjoy they stay @ Dheva Mantra!!!

Great setting and very friendly staff”
We stayed for two nights, driving directy there in a rental car from Bangkok airport. The resort has a lovely relaxed feel to it, in a pseudo-colonial style, perched on the banks of the river Kwai. Our room was spacious, with great balconies and a view right over the river. Fantastic shower - the easiest I've come across to get just the right temperature flowing. The pool area looked really nice, although we didn't use it. The Kanchanaburi area has lots to offer for tourists, plenty of sights to see and you obviously get the best flexibility to do that if you have your own car. It's too far to walk to the centre of Kanchanaburi itself. But we enjoyed the feeling of being away from the crowds. We ate in the hotel's floating Thai restaurant (great) and in the 'normal' hotel restaurant. The menu in the latter was a little limited but still good food. And try the Thai wine 'Monsoon Valley', from the vineries in Hua Hin. Red and white both very drinkable at a really god price! The staff were very friendly and good at their job. We were able to check in early, with no fuss at all, and our waiter in the Thai restaurant was really enganging and amusing. The hotel wasn't busy (which might have helped the staff patience levels!) and the staff made quite a contribution to our overall enjoyment of our stay. We would definitely stay there again.

Colonial style hotel near the river.”
The dheva mantra hotel is a beautiful french colonial style hotel near the banks of the river kwai. The hotel is about 5km out of the town and on the opposite side of the river from the main tourist attractions .My elderly mother has difficulty in walking long distances and we were really surprised to be informed that there was no lift although it is a three story building. They had originally booked her into a ground floor room which involved walking down 30 steps which was impossible, this despite me informing them at the time of booking of her age and immobility .

nice hotel near River Kwai bridge”
the dheva mantra is built in colonial style and it's directly at the river kwai. we booked garden view but still had river view, so two in one. the rooms and bathrooms are very big and clean. complimentary soap, shampoo,... is from a very good quality. the hotel is close the the river kwai bridge, but on the other side of the river. we arrived with our own car so no problem for the location, but if you don't have a car it might be a bit difficult to get quick the the other sides restaurants and shops or back.

Beautiful resort set in tranquility”
This was our second stay at Dheva Mantra Resort which proved a perfect escape again. It was very quiet again, with only a dozen other guests, which meant the staff were only too pleased to offer assistance. There' a section of the pool that is perfect for young children to splash around in. Lots of green space and lush gardens. The hotel is a few km out of town so best to access with own transport. The rooms are comfortably furnished and still have a 'new 'feel to the. It's easy to make this place a destination in itself.

Wonderful hotel with wonderful service”
we booked the dheva mantra after reviewing trip advisor. the hotel is very , very nice and sits right on the river. our room was very spacious and had all the amenities one would need for comfort. the only down was the water pressure in our shower was very low. but with that said, our friends said the shower in their room was great. would stay here again for sure. the staff is simply amazing. they are very accommodating and make you feel right at home.

Colonial charm and elegance..”
W were totally pleased with the Dheva Manra hotel. All the staff we met was helpful and friendly from the front desk personnel to the restaurant staff to the hotel parking lot security guards. Just strolling on the well manicured hotel grounds was fun for us. The hotel has an internet connection that's as fast as any I've seen in SouthEast Asia. During our four night stay, I never encountered a buffering condition on my laptop. We will return to this hotel whenever we go to Kanchanaburi. I should mention I read a negative comment about the food served at the hotel and I can't imagine how anyone could possible make such a claim. The fact is the breakfast is outstanding with loads of choices and the dinner is worthy of a 5 star hotel. If I were to make any recommendation at all, it would be to consider adjusting the room service prices to be more in line with the menu prices. After a long days sightseeing on two of the four nights we stayed in a deluxe room, we did in fact order room service and while good, I couldn't bring myself to order a cheeseburger for 750 THB. What we did order was delicious however. Oh yes, the dining room could use new coasters on the legs of the chairs. It's not easy to push the chairs back from the table and when done, at least for me, it was a noisy affair.

Beautiful Hotel, Lovely Staff, Need a Car For Town”
Visiting the Dheva Mantra over new year and for our Honeymoon, my wife and I thought that this was a lovely hotel. On arriving at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was very grand and certainly a cut above any hotel that we had seen in the local area. I emailed the staff prior to our arrival to let them know that we were a honeymoon couple and they certainly made the extra effort to make us feel special. With a honeymoon cake, specially decorated room and a personal introduction by each of the managers of the hotel we were made to feel special even in a large hotel. The Dheva Mantra isn't as polished as a standard 5* international hotel, but that lends to it's charm. All the facilities of a 5* hotel are there but the usual slickness and efficiency isn't quite there yet. My wife and I found this charming however, and, if you explain your needs clearly to the staff they are more than willing to help out. As the Hotel is a bit outside of town it is much easier to stay at this hotel if you have your own transport. Taxi's cost about 250-300 Baht into town but it is a hassle and an extra cost which you don't get if you're staying the heart of the town. Overall this was a lovely hotel with a few rough edges for a 5* hotel but we would certainly stay again. We stayed with an agoda promotion giving quite a large discount and this made it a bargain for a 5 night stay.

Spacious and Charming”
Dheva Mantra was a lovely hotel to stay in. Amenities were all excellent, however, unfortunately the dinner restaurant that floats on the river was undergoing renovation. The rooms are large and clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The only disadvantage to this lovely hotel location is that it is not located within walking distance of attractions or restaurants so your own car would definitely be an added advantage.

Beautiful Hotel, nice gardens, besides the River.”
The hotel layout is quite nice, a beautiful house just in front of the river. The restaurant and lobby are very well decorated. The rooms are a little bit old fashion and dark but the hotel it self is very nice and quite relaxing. My kids enjoy a lot the swimming pool. I do recommend this hotel for travelers with kids, actually we are travelling back to Dheva Mantra for the weekend in some weeks,

Dheva Mantra Resort and Spa”
I am a business traveler ... and I have stayed in hundreds and hundreds of hotels all over the world. Me and my daughter ended up at Dheva Mantra by chance becasue we wanted to visit the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi, and I must honestly say that this is probably the best hotel that I have ever stayed in. A solid 10 on everything.

The Dheva Mantra Resort and Spa is an impressive hotel with well kept grounds and facilities. The rooms are spacious and clean and the rain forest shower head in the bathroom is awesome. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation in a high end resort this is a great choice.
