i wanted to take my girlfriend on a holiday that would take her breath away. although i did keep the hotel a surprise (and may have even played it down on the way there!) the entire experience upon arrival; the location, hotel grounds, service, private beach/bay, and finally the awe inspiring villa itself ended up bringing her to tears of joy and gratitude - mission accomplished! you'll see why she had this reaction when you get there. value is everything to me. whatever i pay, if it's a little or a lot, i expect to get what i paid for. if it is a little, i expect little and i am happy with anything extra. if i pay more though, my expectations grow. i wanted to avoid all of the "fakes" that pretend to be 5 star, but was at first nervous about paying my way out of the nerves associated with poor quality...my bank account usually doesn't permit me to do so. having been to banyan tree bangkok, and now banyan tree koh samui.... i don't regret a thing. pros: everything. might sound over the top.. but it is everything you see in all of the pictures and more. we were in a villa that was almost at the top of the mountain and had uninterrupted views of the southern coast of koh samui. it was completely private (it was clearly designed to be this way), and very peaceful. every whim had been thought of and provided. the grounds are huge and you can get complimentary buggy rides wherever you need to go (breakfast, private beach, lobby etc). our host (butler?) was very helpful, and all staff speak english very well. hammock, 2 different sets of sun beds on either side of the villa, 3 separate divisions in the villa (lounge area, bedroom, and bathroom). fresh fruit every day. extensive menu for both in room or restaurant dining. "activities" every day!!! yoga at sunrise/sunset, snorkelling, kayaking etc etc... all complimentary!!! the breakfast was typical of banyan tree, completely decadent and wide ranging. everything you could want at an extremely high standard

Excellent Resort and Great Service”

We arrived at about 2pm at Banyan Tree Samui and was immediately attended to by my Villa Host, Mr. Thep. As our rooms were not ready, we were ushered to the Lobby Lounge to wait. As we were ahead of check-in timing, we could only have the villa ready by 230pm. Our host introduced us to the resort and the dining options. Perhaps it was raining, hence he did not bring us around. He was also attentive to our needs from start till the end of our stay. Service was warm, yet not overwhelming. Unfortunately the Ocean Pool Villa had only a glimpse of the ocean. As we understood, Banyan Tree group is active in conservancy of nature and hence trees were not cut down just to give any villa a good view. We decided to pay for a room upgrade to the Sanctuary Pool Villa. The view is breathtaking (180 degree unblocked view over Lamai Bay), the best among all the resorts I have stayed in. Our host also arranged for some decoration, flower bath, a cake and wine to celebrate the wedding anniversary for me and my wife. Amenities in the room and in the resort was also excellent. Sufficient activities provided for me to stay in for the 3 nights I was there. I felt that food at the resort can improve. Apart from the Samui Fine Dining menu I had at Saffron restaurant, all other meals were just average.

Superb scenic view and best customer service”

banyan tree samui is located on the hill where you can see the great view of the ocean. for those who seek for privacy, banyan tree villa is perfect as it has all you want,including the swimming pool and jacuzzi. even the villa offers privacy, for those who come with their families, the hotel offer wide variety of activities as well as the rain forest spa, which is the signature spa f banyan tree, which i highly recemmended for the visitors to try. finally, things that i can never forgot is the service. all the staffs are very friendly and helpful. i definitely recommend banyan tree.

Amazing Hotel and Great Staff”

My fiancé and I had the most amazing time at the Banyan Tree Samui. The rooms are incredible. We stayed in a Royal Banyan Tree Villa and it was completely worth the additional expense. The views are incredible and the staff was fantastic. This is the perfect hotel for a romantic getaway. There is a beautiful private beach, the spa is excellent and the rooms are unforgettable. This is a place for total relaxation and not for a big nightlife but the main strip is only about 15 minutes away so easy enough if that is what you want. Our villa host anticipated all our needs. It was truly a memorable stay.

Perfect for Honeymooners”

we spent three amazing nights at banyan tree for our honeymoon. it was an unforgettable experience. the staff makes you feel like royalty. the villas are amazing with the private pool and jacuzzi. each is tucked away in it's own private oasis with the palms swaying above you, we felt we were in paradise just like adam and eve. the breakfast was the best we've ever had with so many options we couldn't try them all. highly recommend banyan tree samui for honeymooners, as it is not your ordinary stay at a hotel. we'll definitely be back to try there other properties.

A Private Paradise”

Firstly, I would like to really thank the staff of Banyan Tree Samui. Their service level was nothing short of impeccable. A special thanks to the host Patrick. He made sure all my request were carried out and things exceeded my expectation. From the decor of the villa to the arrangements made for transport to airport. He even arranged me to extend my stay at Bayan Tree. The Private Beach's view was breathtaking. The villa was a little old thou as you could see that stains in the bathtub and Mirrors. Food was ok. Nothing to shout about but priced on the high side. Overall it was a wonderful stay and Banyan Tree did not disappoint once again.

Highly recommended romantic getaway”

Booked as a romantic week away for Mr wife and I, we weren't disappointed. This is the second Banyan Tree resort we've stayed at, having already tasted the delights of Phuket. For me, Samui just edges it of the two resorts. Whilst Phuket has larger garden and pool, Samui has a better view, being on a hillside overlooking the sea. The island of Samui as a whole is less seedy than Phuket also. The villas are very luxurious and clean and the staff are splendidly friendly. Not cheap, but why would anyone wasn't to take their loved one on a cheap romantic getaway?

Romantic getaway”

Loved the tropical paradise surroundings of our romantic getaway to this island. Our host "Bird" made sure that all our request were taken care of even making reservations at a restaurant outside the Banyan tree resort. Lovely dinner at the Edge and Saffron Dinner expensive compared to other restaurants in Koh Samui. Loved the daily shuttle to Chaweng beach - but would prefer shuttle to return at a later time or have more trips in and out of the Resort. Overall experience absolutely wonderful.

Perfect Hotel for Our Honeymoon”

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at the Banyan Tree Samui. The villas offer the utmost privacy and from what we could tell they all have amazing views. The property boasts a private beach along with kayaks, snorkels, ping pong tables, soccer field etc right on the beach. Saffron restaurant was gorgeous and delicious. Breakfast had so many options! The staff are so friendly. They are always smiling and courteous. Our butler even set up a driver for the day who took us to all the tourist spots and recommended activities. The private infinity pool and jacuzzi were definitely a plus. The view is priceless.

Great resort with the largest private in villa poo”

The ocean view villas had sold out and thank god for that because we opted for one grade higher to the hillcrest pool villas. We got lucky and was assigned one of the highest villas in the resort (I05 - would highly recommend requesting this suite). We had an amazing view and the in-villa pool was just outstanding. Our suite did not have a Jacuzzi, however, so it's important to ask in advance what amenities would come with your suite. Also, I had no idea the room was equipped with a blu-ray player and so I didn't get to bring my movie collection over to watch - as a suggestion, I would highly recommend that Banyan tree add a list of basic amenities to villas section of their spartan web site. On another note, a nice little surprise was that the washroom had both a man and woman's amenities pouch filled with little goodies. The staff were friendly and responsive but of course the buggies that transport us everywhere would take a little longer to arrive since we were at the ends of the resort so that was expected. Did a 90 min treatment at the Spa which was also amazing and it pleases me that there is great quality control with the masseuse(s) there because they are all trained under the banyan tress spa academy. The food from Thai restaurant inside the resort, Saffron, was absolutely mind-blowing. It was authentic Thai food and so well prepared for my sensitive palate. I am no good with spicy hot foods but they're able to remove the heat and still keep all the other flavours intact. It was truly a gastronomic delight - the best Thai food I have ever had in my life. Our villa host was the only room for improvement since he didn't show up proactively till 2 days into the trip but once we got in touch, everything was great. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience and few resorts would top this experience. After coming to Banyan tree, I worry about how my future trips will live up to this experience!

Secluded resort for couples”

we had a very relaxing stay at the banyan tree samui. this is a very secluded resort where you can make the most of their facilities. exceptional breakfast. three other dining options for lunch and dinner. private beach location. villas are well appointed in keeping with banyan tree style. a most enjoyable stay if you want to stay int he confines of your resort and relax!

Our little paradise at the 2 bedrooms villa”

Most enjoyable stay. Loved our own pool that we can splash in. Magnificent view from our villa. Amazing villa hosts that are most friendly and helpful! Wonderful spa treatment at the Rainforest and the Banyan Tree Spa. Thai food from Saffron is world class. Banyan Tree Samui is a paradise and is flawless!

Great location to relax with the family”

We spent 4 days in the Banyan Tree Samui. Our 10 years old daughter loved all the activities in the Kids Center, the pool in our villa, where she swam every morning and evening, and the resort's beach. It is a great place for snorkeling beginners. Other than that, our stay was very relaxing. We enjoyed the food and the staff was incredibly friendly.

Exceptional”

I traveled with two kids to banyan tree Samui. We all enjoyed our time here. The pool, the food, the view and even the buggy service were well prepared and full of caring. There were so much activities in the hotels, even we missed the snorkelling activity, but we still had a memorable experience.

Romantic getaway”

definitely a first class hotel. great villa, great service but food also come at ' great ' prices to go anywhere in the hotel, they take you in a caddy. when we go, it was low season, only fifty percent occupant. so it is very quiet. there is no swimming in the beach as the waves are high and water muddy, and no watersports allowed. as the beach at banyan is a private beach on an inlet, it is very rough. but the outside beaches are bigger and open, they are actually swimmable and can do some other watersports like kayaking. so i think that is a biggest negative for banyan tree. we did the spa in the rainforest thinking it should be renowned but turned out to be very mediocre.

Staying in Banyan Tree Samui, you basically can free your mind and soul, thoughtful staff make all kind of arrangement where you only need to go with the flow and be a Free Bird :)

Perfect Resort for Honeymoon and Anniversary”

we picked banyan tree after careful selection process, and we were really happy with our choice. from the personal butler, the check-in process, daily activity to house-keeping, it was great experience all the way. after you checked in, your personal butler will give you a cell phone in case you need to call for assistance anywhere in the island anytime. also, housekeeping will clean up the room twice a day, and a souvenir (pastries or pastries) will be offered every night. all the small details make the magic and we are really impressed!!! definitely will go back again in the future!

Over priced!!”

Be aware that you may not get the villa you thought you've booked! We booked the hillcrest pool villa, which is supposed to have great ocean view, however, what we were assigned to a room high up among the jungle!! After complained to our villa host, only permitted room switching the next day to a villa with bay view. Compared with what we experienced in Conrad Koh samui, I think banyan tree is definitely over priced for what you got. No matter the overall environment and seriveces provided.

Second visit--still the best. ”

Second year in a row, and we'll be back next year as well. Truly the best spot on Samui. Everything is thought out, perfectly executed, and frictionless. They even gave us a late checkout, a huge plus that allowed us to board our flight to Bangkok freshly showered. Staff is really outstanding, villas are spacious (as are their private pools), and "public" beach and pool facilities are absolutely stunning. My favorite vacation destination (still haven't been to Maldives...)
