"This hotel is in China Town and is a real oasis in this generally run down place. It is very good, clean. The beds are comfortable, the AC works well, bathroom is good. There are big communal areas where you can have a drink, watch telly, play on the pool table, play cards, etc. You can do your washing in the machines there. Free tea and coffee. We used this area when we arrived, as it was a bit early and our room was not ready. the staff are very helpful. We forgot a wallet in the room when we left and we had an email that it is found and kept safe for collection. The lobby was great, with a nice restaurant. If you go there, ask the staff the name of the roundabout nearby. We found this best to explain to taxis when we had to get one back to the hotel. Well, we didn't like the area itself, and the view from our window wasn't great, but the location was reasonably quiet yet very easy to get a taxi, close to all the sightseeing in the old town, and walking distance to the metro station. Hotel Royal Bangkok China Town (SHA Plus+)
China Town,China Town - View on map
"You get welcomed by the nice staff and get a fast check in and access directly to free WiFi. The rooms are clean and the bed is nice to sleep in. The pool area is on the top level and the view is breathtaking, with the river of chao praya and all nice buildings in sight. This is the best view from a hotel in Bangkok! The pool area is a great place to hang out at, with great cocktails and really good food during the day and evening and soft relaxing music. On the same level you have a new gym that is nice. The breakfast is tasty and you have alot to choose between and really good alternatives for both western and Asian people. The staff in the Hotel is great and very service minded. The location is great in the middle of China town with alot of things to buy from very cheap things to gold, it is here people from other parts in Bangkok come and buy. You also have so much good food both in the Hotell and outside in restaurants and on the street, same thing here people from other parts of Bangkok is coming here to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. The hotel has shuttleservice to differ places but really it is easy to walk both to the mrt at the train station and the express ferry at the river or take a tuk tuk or taxi which the staff will help you with. In my opinion this is really the best value for a Hotel in Bangkok compered with one star up to 5 stars hotel. "

"The location is superb, just next to subway station, and the few lower floors of the building are retail shops and restaurants. Beautiful design hotel, comfortable, brand new, and kindly assisted staffs. There was no buffet breakfast on the day we stayed as was not much guests, but the a la carte dishes were quality and compromised. There was no amenity kits in the room. "

Shanghai Mansion Bangkok (SHA Plus+)
China Town,China Town - View on map
" we decided to spend more this time and stay at the Shanghai Mansion. With the Agoda special rate, it was worth every penny. Our four-poster king-size bed was very comfortable. Some rooms face outward onto the street (but with colored tinted windows there's no way to look in or out), while ours faced the interior of the hotel, so it didn't have any natural light, but it was so dark and quiet that we had the best sleep we've had in months. Be sure to request which type of room you want when you book and double-check with the receptionist when you check in. The vintage Chinese decor was tastefully done, and the warm colors and Chinese lanterns created a romantic setting for our holiday. The staff were genuinely friendly, and Mr. Is the doorman was always ready to help us with a smile on his face. The internet was good. The bar had live music every night, with some good local jazz musicians. There's a 7-11 a few steps away from the entrance on one corner and at the other end of the block is T&K Seafood, a very cheap dinner option if you're in the mood for delicious, fresh seafood in an authentic streetfood setting. The location is generally good, right in the middle of China Town. It's very close to the central train station, Hua Lamphong. However, it's far from the BTS stations. Taxis all knew of the place, and were able to get us to Siam Shopping centre for around 60 baht. Walking one block over to the next parallel street got us into some lighter traffic, where it was faster and easier to get a taxi out of China town. The breakfast was good, with a mix of Western breakfast standards, Chinese food and also some savory Thai rice porridge. The freshly extracted juice made to order from local fruits was a nice touch. Overall, we were very happy with our time at the Shanghai Mansion and will probably stay there again next time we're in Bangkok."

"We stayed here for 2 nights further to reading reviews on agoda and were so pleased with it. It is fantastic value for money, better than some of the hotels we have stayed in Thailand! Clean, brand new, comfortable bed, good bathroom, location is great too as 15 minute walk to Khao San Road, 15 minute walk to China Town, 10 minutes to Imperial Place and the closest temple is only 2 minutes walk away. One thing I would recommend is as it is new and off the main road on a side street the tuk tuk drivers don't know about it yet so have a map printed. It is right next to the giant swing. All in all fabulous experience! "

The Krungkasem Srikrung Hotel (SHA Extra Plus)

"We needed to fly into Bangkok in order to take the train up to Chiang Mai so we wanted a hotel that would be close to the train station. This hotel is located in China Town and a short walk from the train station which was great for our needs. We found the outside of the hotel to be a little rough but the insides were really nicely kept and the rooms were super clean. Our morning breakfast was really good and there were a number of options available for breakfast. The price for this hotel was only $30 a night so it was great value for a clean hotel close to the train station. We would recommend this hotel if convenience to train station is important to you. "

@Hua Lamphong Hotel
China Town,China Town - View on map
"We stayed in the deluxe room, the air conditioning worked great the room was big the bathroom was spacious. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily. Bed was comfortable and the facilities were taken care of well. They are located right in front of the MRT so when you arrive to the airport you can take the A1 bus and it takes you to Chakutak MRT STATION. From there you take the MRT to HUA LAMPHONG and it's literally steps away. This cost us $144thb as to the 800 thb they charged at the airport for a taxi. It's a walking distance away from China town and across the street is the grand train station so you get a wonderful view, there are also small restaurants in Front of there with great food with street food prices. The only downfall was when going home tuktuks didn't know what we were talking about when we wanted to go back we would get dropped off across the street which was fine: we didn't mind. But it's a great facility we would definitely go back. "

Luk Hostel

"The hostel was cleanliness. Location is inside China Town, if you prefer walking then is fine. If you carry lot of heavy stuff I won't recommended to stay here as taxi can't go in the alley. The Alley was too narrow. Overall is okay for me. One thing I don't like is the electric socket that they provided to put our adapter, the designed kind of weird. I can't really charge my phone and power bank. "

In and around China Town

More about China Town

China Town adjoins the most important sightseeing district in Bangkok. Tourists don’t have to travel far to see major attractions like the Grand Palace, especially if they’ve booked accommodation in China Town along Yaowarat Road or its side streets. The entire district is contained south of Rattanakosin and west of Silom.

There are a few shopping centers in China Town, but the traditional markets are more exciting. Merchants sell colorful silk, herbal medicine, gold, gems and a host of souvenirs. It’s a great place to stroll in the evening, with Thai and Chinese temples like Wat Thep Sirin, Wat Ratchabophit and Wat Kuang Khae in the background. China Town is also a great place to go for an inexpensive meal. Restaurants and food stalls line the busy side streets. Cantonese food is especially popular, with shark fin soup and fresh seafood in abundance.

When visitors come to China Town they usually stop by Little India – Pahurat. The markets here on Sampleng Lane and Chakraphek Road are more compact and a little livelier than those in China Town.

The closest train stop to China Town is Hua Lamphong, Bangkok's main train terminal with long distance overland services as well as underground metro connections. From Hua Lamphong it's a short cab ride to Yaowarat Road. While China Town isn't the most convenient place to stay for travelers who want to spend a lot of time around Sukhumvit, it is close to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and to the backpackers paradise of Khao San Road. The accommodation is also a lot cheaper here than in the Sathorn and Silom areas. The Chao Phraya River Express is the quickest way in from neighboring riverside communities.
