"I was a female solo traveller with a big big suit case. Friendly staffs are helpful for tours. Great Location (actually Akureyri is a very small town!), there is a hot dog cafe right in the corner. the bad thing is that the bathroom in their basement... that was quite tired when I return to hostel from a northern light tour. very clean room, and bathroom. "Never having used a sleeping pod before, we mainly booked this one out of curiosity. And we absolutely loved it! It is very well situated on the main street of Akureyri with bars and restaurants all around. The entrance was a bit difficult to find since it is in the back of a shopping building (a sign or arrow would be good!) but there was a phone number on the door and the staff was helpful. The interior of the place looks like from a science fiction movie, and we were a bit nervous about the pods. But we did get a good introduction on how to use them (it's really simple) and were very reassured by the fact that they can also be opened manually from the inside. We had a pod for two and there was plenty of space. It also has a great entertainment board :) The only downside was that there was no storage space for bags, shoes etc. However, the hostel was not entirely finished yet, and we saw that a locker room is in the make. The bathrooms are great, there are lots and lots, and each is an individual room with a toilet and shower, so plenty of privacy there. We haven't used the kitchen, but the breakfast buffet was lovely as well, with homemade pancakes! Do stay there if you get a chance! "

"I was requested by 2 Keahotels, at Reykjavik Skuggi Hotel and Akureyri Hotel Nordurland, to change hotel upon checking-in. Was informed by the reception that its a problem with the "system". For the inconveniences and fatigue caused to me and companions, I do not recommend any hotel from the Keahotel group to fellow travelers . Despite the disappointing experiences at both Keahotels, I am giving 3 stars to staff to indicate that I have nothing against them."

"Comfortable modern room in good location. My room was basically at ground level, looking out into the car park, so it felt like a motel and I had to keep the curtains drawn. Floating floor boards that are a little dusty and no slippers provided so it doesn't feel clean. Minimal amenities provided, refillable containers of toiletries in the shower, not filled by housekeeping. Polite staff, but no information provided about facilities or breakfast etc., information pack in room had no advice either. It's really a budget hotel experience."

"Got a room with private bath. It was exactly like a hotel. They got everything in the room. There is a canteen with a complete kitchen there, but we did not cook. The location was just by the lake facing the famous mountain. There was aurora on that night and we were in a perfect location to capture photos of us with aurora, water and the mountain altogether. Not many people knew about the perfect location. "
