Amphawa (Samut Songkhram) hotels & places to stay

Na Non hotel was my amended choice from Thanicha and I was really glad with this change. Only wish to stay for a second night if I knew amphawa would be such serene n interesting .. Check - in to Na Non was a breeze with cold towel n welcome drink. Room numbers are shone to the corridor ceiling. When we entered the clean n bright room, we were delighted w a spacious balcony over looking some locals homes, greenery n palm trees. Giving us a true outskirt feel which we wanted. I love the steel table n chairs at balcony, would be dreamy n relaxing to enjoy the breeze n birds singing.. Bedsheet is clean but a little rough to touch. Furniture are displayed with sufficient to move without feeling cramp even when staying indoor. The common corridor at every level is designed w different theme n furniture. We love to use the stairs bcos of them. An additional hangout corner provided besides the assortment of couches found at lobby area. Most hotels lack of these hangout places for guests . The main river market is just few minutes walk away, we went through the back door of Som Tum Seafood. ( large restaurant serves good food ) When we returned in the evening, we stayed a short while at the rooftop bar. Had to leave as the mosquitoes are hungry. Morning came too soon especially when we wished to stay longer to enjoy the hotel and amphawa market. Breakfast was sufficient with both international n thai choices. The thai dishes was delicious. We were assisted with useful info from staff on the van transport to Cha Am. They ordered a tuktuk for us as no public taxi was available at Amphawa. If you want taxi, they will order from bkk which you have to pay the bkk - amphawa trip too, not to mention waiting time of 1.30hr minimum . Every experience we had w Na Non was happy n pleasant . They have shown great hospitality. We are definitely coming back here again. Hope other guests appreciate nice hotels like this n preserve their design thoughtfully.

Located right at the riverside, great ambiance with good selections of musics. Personalized service, attention to detail especially the food presentation and most importantly taste amazing....super cozy and its the best place if you want to be alone. Personal firefly watching pick up right at your guesthouse and the best part for all is the monk offering service, 50 baht per set with fresh flowers included. Literally 2 minutes was to get a songtheaw to Maeklong Market... and 5 minutes walk along the riverside to Amphawa Wet Market ..one of my best place to stay in Thailand

The hotel is located within the Amphawa floating market area, which is the main reason we chose it. When we first arrived we were disappointed with the room which was upstairs and next door to a service lift. The room was small and basic. So we asked to change and paid 200 baht more for a bigger room downstairs next to the coffeehouse/breakfast area. I had concerns about the noise but the room was large with low beds on a split level area. It was clean and tidy and I was happy to pay for the upgrade. All the rooms are built around a central courtyard. Our room was next to the coffeehouse reached by crossing a small bridge over a pond contain Koi. You are required to remove your shoes before entering the coffeehouse area, which I completely agree with. There is a car park at the rear of the hotel which was very full when we arrived on Sunday afternoon but we managed to park ok. So first impressions on this hotel were not great. However after up a freshen up we left the room, walked through the coffeehouse and onto the river. The walkways were thriving with people, boats and wonderful smells everywhere. We decided to have a coffee at the coffeehouse and sit for a while to soak up the atmosphere. The coffeehouse sells quality tea and coffee and its definitely recommended. Breakfast is taken in the coffeehouse and was great. Great coffee and lovely food which you help yourself to. You sit at traditional low tables which adds to the atmosphere. We loved this hotel! Amphawa floating market is a most wonderful romantic place to visit and this hotel is in a perfect location. Its represents great value for money and would definitely be happy to return. Tip – Amphawa floating market is lively, full of life, wonderful markets, great restaurants, and you should definitely take a river boat trip (about 50 baht per person). However everything closes from Monday to Thursday. Book for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

This is a small family owned resort. But the owner make many details like a four star hotel. Clean room and good bed with four pillows. You even get safety locker and varieties of free minibar. We get coconuts as welcome drink. Night milk for the children. The breakfast was arranged in the door table, you see the pool and enjoy breakfast in your private area, very delicious. The owner even pick us for dinner and to minivans station while checking out for free. The quality and service we get is outstanding, especially when you consider the reasonable price. Finally, amphawa on weekday is a very quiet place, you can enjoy the calm atmosphere. If you want to see the fireflies, you can rent a private boat for just 500baht price, the experience is awesome for my kids.

Each room tastefully decorated differently, nice and clean. Attentive staffs. A welcome drink was nice. On our return from outing at night we were pleasantly surprised by a plate of fruits freshly prepared. We were also asked our preference of newspaper at breakfast - a nice touch. The A/C was a little small for hot afternoon but adequate. We noticed a staff go to turn on the A/C in our room upon our arrival which was nice. We like the semi outdoor shower. At times it smelled a little though not intrusive to other part of the room. Bed was very comfortable, bed linens are of good quality and clean. When booking we're aware that the hotel was some 900m from the main floating market and it's better to have your own transport. We were planing to rent a motorbike but learned on arrival that there was no such service in Amphawa. However the hotel owner arranged tuktuk for us to the market(a reasonable rate of 30bahts). We'd prefer to stay right at the heart of the floating market one night for atmosphere. For longer stay or those preferring peace and quiet, Panviman Amphawa would be a good choice. We certainly enjoyed our stay.

I stayed at Villa Amphawa with my lovely taiwanese girlfriend on July. It was the most memorable hotel since we travelled together. The hotel was built as coloniel style and located in the green scenery atmotsphere. All staffs were very accommodate with a big smile on their faces. You can book some sightseeing tour with them accordingly too example a fire fly tours, and lucky me bcoz i see a thousands of it on the tour. Breakfast was fair but still have all you need for energy. Rooms was extreamly comfortable with a nice design. The only downside for my stay is at night time hotel wall will have a lot of house lizard and my girlfriend very scare of them but it make me can't stop laughing at her LOL. If have a chance to Amphawa i will definitely stay here and of course i will recommend Villa amphawa to all of my friends. Cheers!!!

If one expect to be on the spot of the bustling floating market, Yao In Chan would be the wrong choice. We were looking for a real retreat after staying in Bangkok for some weeks, Yao In Chan is probably the best solution for us. It is located in Banprok, with a 10 min distance (by Tuk Tuk) to Amphawa Floating Market. Since the market starts from the afternoon and runs till the evening, we could enjoy our morning of tranquility in different corners of the garden and the balcony of our room. We were staying on the second floor, there is a private balcony overlooking the riverside garden, and the shared balcony on the other side of the room leads to the beautiful view of the pond. The owner and his families, as well as the staff, are extremely helpful and friendly, every single detail is being taken care at Yao In Chan. We will definitely be back...

Fantastic location! Easy enough to find and literally situated above the floating markets - just open the french doors onto the balcony and BAM! Super friendly staff greeted us in the cafe downstairs upon arrival, and asked us what we would like for the following breakfast and at which time we'd prefer it (and honestly, it was probably the best breakfast we'd had in Thailand). The room itself was so cosy, and indulgent. It did not disappoint at all - in fact, it rose above my expectations. Air con and wifi were flawless too. Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and water too . What more could you want? :)

This place is more like private house with some room to rent, than a hostel. It is thai style. Just 5 rooms. We had one with shared bathroom, but just 2 rooms use it. The bad thing was, we had ants in our room, which wasn't big problem (you are in thailand though), but they were travelling with us all around Thailand after that. And we didn't keep any food in our luggage. There is big balcony with a view to a canal. And actually it's located ON the Amphawa Market. You go out of the place and same time your in the middle of people. You definitely have to go to Mae Klong Train market if you stay overnight in Amphawa. It's amazing.

Amphawa is a good morning day trip to go to. Take 515 from Victory Monument to go to Sai Tai Mai (Southern Bus Terminal) for 17baht and then a mini van to go Amphawa (70 baht) then they will drop you at the last stop which is a bus stop... walk further down and you will see a resort looking building.. that's Baan Sanranrom because their sign board will not be in english. Their back gate leads down to floating market in minutes. Very convenient. Fyi The last bus back to Sai Tai Mai from Amphawa is 8:30pm but must buy tickets from the bus stop. Or you can take their public pick up truck transport to Maeklong see the Train Market at Maeklong Train Station (8 baht) and then find back the mini bus services which is beside the hospital over there. Amphawa floating market starts packing up to close by 7:30-8:30pm. Hope this will help tourists!

it was one of a kind. We came in very very late - 2AM because of delay at the immigration at Don Muang Airport but they were very accommodating to still welcome us with a smile. I didnt realize that Amphawa was completely opposite of Bangkok. The whole place was very quiet and there were no more establishments open at that particular hour, i guess there's not much night life in Amphawa, thus i was even more thankful for the staff's consideration to still open their doors for us. The whole place was both big and small - big because the land area was big for a house but small because the rooms were small and the ceiling was low. i also liked the feel of the homestay because they're truly a homestay. I really felt at home and the whole place was a real home. our breakfast was free, it was simple and tasty. I liked the appetizer very much. I dont know what it's called but it was like a fried fritter with no filling and tasted really really good. It somehow felt special also because the owners were the ones who prepared it. Our room was their cheap room - there was just 1 bed enough for 2 persons, there was AC, a small table and a wooden ladder that served as a rack for towels and clothes. The remarkable thing about baanchompoo was the whole place was very cute. Everything would make you smile and feel like "aaawwww".. cute figurines and very nice DIY stuff - old refrigerator made into plant pot organizer, thermos made into a plant pot, etc. The colors were pastel (lilac, pink) and homey (brown, green) Value for the money: Very good (for our cheap room) Location: very good, walking distance from the floating market and shuttle to bangkok (about 5 to 10 mins away) Staff: very good

The staff are very friendly and eager to help but do not speak a word of English making it difficult to communicate. The home stay is a 15 boat ride to Amphawa not steps away like it says in the write up. That was a huge disappointment for us as that was the purpose of our visit to the area was to see the Amphawaw floating market. The rooms are very clean and the most comfy bed we've had in Thailand so far, firm but softer than most. The showers are spacious but just Luke warm. The family dog is very sweet and has been trained well but gets very excited for any meal scraps that might come his way. This would be a nice place to relax and enjoy the setting or if you had your own transportation. The grounds are well kept with pretty plants and flowers and they do offer food if you can communicate. We used a translation app on our iPad which the staff got a real kick out of.

the hotel location is not very close to Amphawa floating marking. You cannot walk to the market but there is only 20THB per person for motorbike taxi or TukTuk. I booked the room with triple beds. There were 1 queen bead and 1 single bed. The beds were not soft; there're quite hard which I think someone can have a sleeping problem with these beds. There was no hair dryer. The real accommodation and the photos on website were the same (the photos were taken from the real place). The woman who was a housekeeper and also a receptionist was very nice and kind. She served us very well and gave us lots of suggestions about how to travel around Amphawa. We all impressed on her service. For the breakfast, there were boiled rice with minced pork, bread, jam, butter, sweetened condensed milk, coffee, and Milo. The weather was nice; not too hot, maybe it's because there were many tree at the accommodation.

We loved our stay at APLE Homestay. Our family room was very clean and spacious. The owners were extremely helpful and gave us free rides to the songthaews when we left. They also cooked us a lovely breakfast which we weren’t expecting. The homestay is in a nice quiet area of Amphawa within 10 minutes walk of the floating markets so perfect with young kids. All in all we loved our stay at APLE and will return in the future.

Walk from Amphawa market along the river, not need to use the main road after u came down from van. Just along the river towards the home stay direction. U would find a small bridge behind the shops at the end of the Floating Market, cross the bridge and reach in few steps away. Very convenient. Fireflies trip is cheap and worth the money. Go during raining day it would surprise u. Free instant noodle and instant drink. Good breakfast, porridge with shrimp.

This hotel in amphawa floating market,its veryconvenient. The host very enthusiastic and nice, The rooms are clean and simple,but very warm.Its Thai style.The aunts are very nice and young, and good at cooking. Breakfast is made by the aunt herself. There have shrimp, rice, soup, fruit and coffee. It's so rich and free of charge. In the early morning sat by the river ,drinking coffee and watch the peacful Amphawa picturesque scenery.This is the best experience I've ever lived in Thailand. Strongly recommend.

We had a nice short trip to Samut Songkhram. The resort is next to the river, near to Amphawa floating market. However you need a car or motorbike to get around since it is not near a main road. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated with an "open air bathroom". It was er clean the breakfast buffet was good too. All in all a nice small resort in beautiful surroundings next to the river.
