Cairns hotels & accommodations

Excellent location as next to Cairns Central Shopping center. Self contained apartments with pool access to guests. Laundry facilities and B-B-Q facilities also available. Easy walking distance to the Cairns CBD. In house entertainment good with a wide range of TV channels. Bus service available in Lake street which is 3 blocks from SCAA. Cairns taxis available at Cair...

I definitely recommend Palm Royale Cairns Resort! They have the best customer service I've experienced (and I've travelled a bit)! Prior to the trip, a family member became quite seriously ill and as a result, I had to forfeit my flight and only enjoyed 2 out of the 4 day's planned. However, much to my surprise, when I rang to ensure my final 2 night's accom. were ...

The staffs at Jack & Newell Luxury Apartments are the BEST, i have been emailing them one month prior my booking's date to confirm on making reservations for the activities in Cairns. He has been super helpful and patience with all my questions and endless changes to the dates and activities. Since my flight arrived mid day on the first day, most activities would not b...

This is a great resort, a short 45 minute ferry ride from cairns we stayed 3 nights.Being a resort guest gives you inclusions over day trippers which they need to pay for -towels -beach chair and umbrella -snorkel equipment -wetsuit or lycra suit -glass bottom boat -kayak hire -windsurfing with lesson Additionally, when there are only guests on the island (prior to 9.3...

My friend and I stayed for one night as we were transitting. I have stayed here over the years when it was previously known as the Cairns International. Nothing has changed seemingly. Everything is what can be expected from a 5 star hotel, superior service and quality fit out. I can also attest that another collegue of mine asked for the Presidential Suite, however...

You could not find a better located hotel in Cairns! The room size was not massive, but it was definitely adequate and comfortable. The room was not serviced throughout our stay, but that suited us (we could have paid additional for this, but chose not to). Being opposite the lagoon and walking distance to everything, we would definitely stay here again.

I am very satisfied with our stay at Holiday Inn Cairns Hotel. It is close to the airport but very quiet and yet so close to everything-public transport at the doorstep, church across, seafood buffet in a nearby hotel, RSL, short stroll in nearby good restaurants (plenty to choose),weekend fresh market, short taxi ride to casino, wharf to great barrier reef, Cairns rail...

Our stay at the Alamanda was excellent. We were guests at the hotel for five nights last week and our entire experience was more than we could have expected. From the time we were checked in by Cedric until he checked us out and everything in-between, we were amazed. We were given an upgrade to a one bedroom suite and were vey happy. The hotel itself is beautiful,...

we stayed at the cairns plaza hotel for 10 nights. from the time we arrived to departure the staff greated us with smiles. we arrived early (9am) so the room wasn't ready but staff directed us where we could freshen up and stored our luggage. a short pleasent walk to the centre of cairns (5 -10 min) the room was great (rm 506)very well presented and good sized balconan...

I've had the best stay at Hilton. The receptionist upgraded me to an ocean-view room (awesome!), and the room was spectacular. The view was excellent, and the breakfast selections were delicious - everything for everyone. I booked all my adventure trips just downstairs near the reception area, and I got to do all the must-do things in Cairns. I got to use the pool, alt...

Easily checked myself in late at night. Very spacious well furnished apartment. Clean and had everything you needed. Chose this place for its pools and lovely gardens. Staff very helpful with day tour bookings. Easy 5 mins walk to the main Palm Cove restaurant strip and beach. Use the back entrance for a short cut. Bus stop out front, over the road for buses to C...

It's true what everyone else has to say about Rosemary--she's an absolute delight. Friendly, knowledgeable, and always present. Oh, and patient, which is good, because somehow the combination of my Macintosh computer, my company's timecard system, and Heritage Cairns wireless service just did not like to work together. She was great about fixing me up with replaceme...

The location and the facility was much better than I expected. I definitely was pleasantly surprised. The room is large and it has everything you need as mentioned in the other reviews. The location is quiet and I did not feel it was unsafe at any time. It is a bit remote but the Esplanade is a 2 km walk or so and it is probably 4 to the center of Cairns. The staff ...

We would like to recommend this facility to anyone who visit Cairns. The apartment has everything that you are looking for. The best of all, the laundry facilities are inside each apartment, which really helped us cleaning our clothes. The fully equipped kitchen was also making the place above and beyond other lodging places. The staff was very helpful and very organiz...

Great location only 30 minutes from Cairns airport. Palm Cove has a lovely relaxing feel with some nice cafés and restaurants. Our 2 bedroom Mantra accommodation was spacious. We liked the large pool. Overall, we really enjoyed the Mantra and would definitely recommend the accommodation in Palm Cove.

i stayed here while transferring to a next day connection flight and found it to be a great hotel. it has everything that you could want out of a hotel in cairns for a short stay. it is only a few kilometers from the main strip of the city and not far from the airport. the hotel itself has everything that you could need for a short stay. excellent food in the restauran...

This hotel is located in an idyllic position with regard to accessing the main sights of Cairns. It is convenient and close to the main attractions and amenities. The room in which I stayed was clean and well maintained with lovely fresh linen and a supremely comfortable bed. Noise pollution was kept to a minimum thanks to heavy blinds covering the windows of the ea...

We arrived at the hotel with no expectation of the place and were very pleasantly suprised. The receptionist was exceptionally friendly, and allowed us an early check-in to the room at 9am. And the room itself was lovely (I actually stayed at the Hilton Cairns a week after staying here and the Rydges Plaza room was nicer) and looked like it had just been renovated. We ...

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in Palm Cove. The best thing about this hotel is its two great swimming pool - one is the large Lagoon pool with white sand; the other is the Serenity Pool providing tranquil swimming experience. The beach is just across the street. Wonderful breakfast with value price. The concierge service is great - helping me reserve local air ba...

Great priced hotel in Cairns. Clean, comfy beds and friendly staff. Our room was facing the main street and it was noisy due to traffic. If you can, get a room facing the pool as its much quiet. The hotel is slightly far from the restaurants and the esplanade. Apart from the noise and the location, this is a great budget friendly hotel.

I was very impressed that this hotel is very clean, comfortable with very good view of both hotel pool view and sea view of Cairns. Spacious and clean room attracted me to stay in the room for long time. Large and full-equipped offered me convenience to prepare my breakfast everyday. Special laundry room allows me to bring less clothes as I can wash it easily. And also...

My wife (Grandma) and one of our daughters and her two children visited Cairns for a memorial service for my wife's brother. The occasion became a family reunion. Accommodation met all her requirements, and we would like to record our thanks to staff for help from the time we booked, through reception, and departure. Thank you. Stayed at Njoy because all the big hotels were full, but will go back to Njoy next time I'm in Cairns. The staff were very helpful, polite and friendly, taking time to explain everything. The room was clean and the whole place had a nice laid back atmosphere. Recommended.

This is a great hostel, one of the best I've seen in Australia. Really comfortable (real beds!), super clean, friendly and breakfast (with good coffee!) which enables you to meet more easily the people. A really good hostel, especially for travelers who travel alone.

I knew this from my friend, she recomend as this is so far the best hostel you can stay in cairns, so i give it a go. Yep i found out its true! I made new friends in the room, we're out and having a good time together, the staff is also helpful and friendly, they always have something happening in the bar like free drinks free pizza, ect. Only the wifi is lame, and you...

Hostel located right opposite of Esplanade Lagoon. Next to Mcdonalds and 3min walk to Woolworths. Receptionist Laura is so helpful and friendly. I'm in love with the 4th floor open concept kitchens and living area I spend at least 4 to 5 hours sitting there to watch sunrise or sunset. The only hostel in Australia I had ever stayed with seaview. Kitchen is huge and clea...

Probably the best hostel I’ve stayed at during my travel around Australia. Everything is perfect, the facilities, the people, the location, the rules, the staff etc. Honestly, you won’t be disappointed if you stay at the reef :) I’ve been there for couple of weeks already and don’t wanna move to a share house !

Wasnt so sure about staying at a backpackers, but the accommodation was great, clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Was great to meet so many different people from different countries and swap stories. Waterfront backpackers is the place to be in Cairns, great location on the esplanade right across from the lagoon and everything so close at hand.. beds comfy and a...

I have staid at another hostel that was extremely dirty and has to ask for refund and leave so after that I checked many hostels in cairns. Yha was the best, very clean, the bathrooms are new and nice. Nice and chill atmosphere and in front of the supermarket and shopping mall. Not a party hotel but you can meet nice people and party outside. I stayed more than a w...

The title says it all. FYI this hostel is under the same ownership as the hostel next door, waterfront, and one other so if you're booking for location... Go ahead and book on one the esplanade because I'm sure you'll have a pretty similar experience anywhere in this network of hostels. This is a bitboff the main difference drag. The staff were long term residents and ...

I booked this hostel based on the good reviews and I totally agree with them. In fact, basically the whole of Cairns seem to agree, because luckily I booked in advance but a lot of people were disappointed to find out it was fully booked, and not just around the eclipse. So the good points about the hostel: clean and big rooms with ensuite bathroom, the atmosphere w...

I had an amazing stay at Asylum Cairns. The hostel is very chilling and the atmosphere is very good for people who like to make new friends and have fun or to just chill. There are many things to take part in, such as the pants down party and karaoke night. The staff is just fantastic. They are super friendly and helpful. They always have a solution for anything you ne...

We live in Cairns Area but we had Christmas dinner so we booked this Backpacker to sleep one night and literally I can understand why these guys got the 9.1 average points!! Very clean and quiet comparing to other back packers. Loved it. Definitely will come back :)

I was totally impressed with Caravella, Cairns. It was my first experience in Australia and the staff were terrific. A special thank you to Zenon who made everything so special. The personal touch of learning my name immediately and using it in daily greeting. I will definitely be recommending the hostel to other travellers from UK. Thanks again. Penny Gaze.

Travelling solo for a live aboard diving trip, had to stopover at Cairns for three nights. So, I wasn't looking for anything fancy. Just a shower, a clean bed, maybe a kitchen to cook, and as cheap as possible. Geckos' at the backside of Cairns Central where there's Coles and a mall. A bit far from CBD where all the shops and restaurants reside. You need to walk quit...

I was pleasantly surprised the room contained microwave, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, air conditioning, fridge, tea, coffee, crockery and cutlery and free wireless internet - all for a very moderate price. The centre of Cairns was a pleasant walk away. Access to bottle shop, convenience store, laundry, gym, and many other services were within stone throw. Motel sw...

This motel is not a resort; it's a 60s style motel & is fairly basic. It gave me all I wanted. Staff cleaned daily. It's about 3 blocks from the centre of Cairns, main local bus terminal 1 1/2 blocks away. There was a fridge, microwave & TV. Pool is only for children (unless you like wading).

YAL is a great hotel but we were surprised to hear they don't take reservation after 7. They said Agora is sending clients ignoring that rule which is not acceptable and even after warnings. It is a great hotel with wonderfully friendly and helpful staff and Agoda should respect their hours not to put them in troublesome situations. Agora needs to respect the hotel...

Was pleasantly surprised when entering the room with a simple clean and modern layout. Very well presented with few nice flourishes. The bed was very comfortable, the air con was cold, quiet room with privacy and friendly helpful staff. I will be using this motel again as I often need to stay just one night in cairns and as far as value for money goes it is the best I...

Great location only 30 minutes from Cairns airport. Palm Cove has a lovely relaxing feel with some nice cafés and restaurants. Our 2 bedroom Mantra accommodation was spacious. my husband, parents, and i stayed here for three nights while we explored the daintree rainforest and great barrier reef. we were really glad we had picked palm cove as our base over cairns and the sarayi was a great little hotel. it was located within easy walking distance of restaurants, the beach, and had a great deli right out front. even though there was a probl...

We're impressed with our unit and location. Everything we required was there, unit was well designed, and the the location excellent. We were unable to contact any staff ons...

I had a chance to stay at Ibis styles Cairns Hotel recently for a short stay. I was very pleased with the concierge services provided from the front desk of the hotel. I stayed in four hotels in Cairns over the course of two weeks and this was the best by far. Great value for money and superb location - literally a stone's throw from the beach. Holloway's Beach has more of a local feel. The beach itself is great and the designated swimming area is less than five minutes' walk from the hotel. There is a great restaurant across the str...

Nothing fancy but comfortable and very clean. We had one bedroom apartment which was spacious with all amenities. Wifi was sometimes week, did not work in a bedroom. The hotel is located on a beautiful promenade in front of a nice beach great for swimming. Many barbecue spots around. Convenient location between Cairns and Port Douglas. Excellent spot for Great Barrie...

Aquarius Apartments are in a prime location close to the restaurants, bars and the Lagoon. We didn't have a car whilst in Cairns and certainly didn't need one. The apartments are spacious with great internal facilities. Perfect for families with 2 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms together with laundry, great kitchen, spacious living room and a great balcony with awes...

The friendliest, most helpful hosts I’ve ever experienced. They are extremely kind and eager for you to have the best possible visit to Cairns! City Terraces is beautiful and spotlessly clean. The pool and barbecue areas were also great to use. There is easy secure car parking if needed and bikes that guests can use. There is also recycling available - a welcome change...

The Discovery Retreat was clean and comfortable and had a nice, if small, swimming pool. The staff were extremely helpful providing a map of Cairns and directions to the food markets on the Esplanade which was only a short walk away. It represented very good value for money and I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone for their stay in Cairns.

Had a fantastic stay here and will definitely go back, the area is great and the local bus runs on a half hourly timetable to Cairns city which takes about 45 minutes but runs late from Cairns back,we went to the Casino for a show and got the bus back with no problem. Spacious one bedroom apartment, very clean, king bed was extremely comfortable, friendly and caring staff, beautiful pool views and you can bend over and see the ocean (for my apartment with pool views), location is across the road from the beach and a 50 metre walk to the patrolled part of the beach, restaurants all around, the perfect location. One qtr of the pool ...

We had a beachfront apartment and we just had to walk across the road to the beach. Ron enjoyed the pool twice a day. We walked to Palm Cove, easy walk. There is a bus just stop just down from Agincourt which takes you to Smithfield Shopping Centre or all the way to Cairns. It was an ideal place to stay, we have been there twice now and hope to make it a third time nex...

I would recommend Vue Apts to anyone travelling to the Cairns area. The location between Cairns and Port Douglas is great. Besides the amazing view, which is AMAZING, the staff and management were wonderful. We had a 3 bedroom oceanview apt, which was much larger than what I would expect. There was a main bath and an ensuite bath (which had this gorgeous tub!). ...

Low end five star resort but value for money. Superb beachfront views and the pool and spa is very relaxing. Nice location which is on the cairns northern beaches. Not very far from Cairns city centre. Friendly staff and very family oriented. One of the best resorts on Trinity Beach.

We live in Cairns Area but we had Christmas dinner so we booked this Backpacker to sleep one night and literally I can understand why these guys got the 9.1 average points!! Very clean and quiet comparing to other back packers. Loved it. Definitely will come back :)

Palm Cove is a great spot with a very relaxed vibe. Location is excellent (in middle of Cairns and Port Douglas) and definitely my pick as it is less busy. Sanctuary Palm Cove is amazing. Excellent accommodation complete with a great pool when it is stinger season in Far North Queensland. Apartments have everything you need and very comfortable. Highly recommended.

We usually stay closer to Cairns City but now that we have discovered Bellevue at Trinity Beach we won't stay anywhere else! A lovely two bedroom apartment with a million dollar view made this holiday both relaxing and memorable. Trinity Beach itself really is 'Cairns best beach' and being an easy drive to the city was the perfect base. We did many day trips with our 1...

Fantastic location right on the esplanade located just around the corner from the restaurant and cafe strip. Apartment is quite large with a large living area in open style living layout. It's very clean and quiet place, I guess all Palm cove is. Our apt was a beach front, very spacious and clean. Only flaw is the early checkout. I highly recommend it, however, Palm cove is not meant for young couples. We're having way more fun in Cairns city.

It was my second time to come to this beautiful city. I would come again cause I really fall in love with it.
If staying in Cairns catch the local bus up to Palm Cove area. this will cost you $11 for a all day pass with the buses.
Cairns is a fascinating place with a mix of very diverse people. It has a fun atmosphere and heaps of interesting things to do.
Cairns is laid back city; a beach town. there are sufficient activities to keep you busy for three nights and four days.
Cairns has become a modern city with resources to cater to every budget. IT is clean and spacious with much tropical greenery.
Came to see reef. Three cyclones hit at once.... Make sure to check season... September October supposed to be ideal.
A new developed place for vocation. One can be very relaxing during staying in Cairns. If the beach has white sand that would make this city even more perfect.
I love cairns. Staying in the city center is very convenient and easy to get to everywhere. It is very small so places are in walking distance and save public transportation.
Cairns is a city with interesting history and flora/fauna. One has to look beyond the city itself to really appreciate what Cairns has to offer.
Don't get rid of the bats!!! We spent 2 hours watching them and 15 other tourists did too. They are indigenous to the area and need protection not removal.

Cairns is a lovely city, very clean, very neat and tidy and has every service needed. Something for every age to do and see.
Beautiful city, especially the marina. The promenade is just great. We liked the open swimming pool ( free ), quite a few places for small kids to play, a few stops for exercises.
Visit Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda village. if you have more time, do skydiving and other water sports.
beautiful nature! The city is completely overpriced. The food is average as well as the service. Everything is very expensive.
Hot air ballon, great barrier reef, sailing and swimming. It is a great city with beautiful sunshine.
Cairns is heaps of fun, especially if you are backpacker. For couples also, a nice city to relax and be romantic in and around.
Whether you're traveling solo, as a couple, or with a family, Cairns has a bit of everything for any interest.
I would highly recommend travelling to the Great Barrier Reef. It is best to snorkel a bit away from the tour boats where the water is much clearer and the sand isn't constantly churned up by the boats.
It's a worth going place, though we did come in a good time, due to the jellyfish and crocodile, people could not go to swim at the beach, but most of the hotels had swimming pool, there has some local supermarkets are good and convenient.
Taxi is expensive here, pls rent a car and book a hotel with free car park! Good for outdoor activities like rafting, diving, snorkelling, hot air ballon, skydive.
cairns is an exciting city to visit, summer is not the ideal time, humidity is very oppressive, best time, march - oct-end.
Only a few major activities to do (Great Barrier Reef, SkyRail, rainforest trips), other than that there isn't much to do or see in the city itself.
Actually didn't feel like I was in Australia and I am Australian. Main population is asian which I don't have a problem with, it just felt strange as I spend a lot of time in asia myself and it took me right back there without leaving Australia.
there's not only great barrier reef, a lot of things can be done there, long trousers and hat are recommended if you are going to forest area.
Hire a car and drive to all the areas in and around cairns..so much to see and do. from walking along beaches to the attractions and the night markets in the centre of cairns.
visit Rusty's markets and the bakery near it for great Aussie pies. Shop at woolworths supermarkets and BBQ at the esplanade
Cairns is gorgeous and the people are extremely firendly. I loved the weather, very few bugs, lots of exotic birds roaming free and plety of attractions.
Muddy's Esplanade is a must go for young toddler/ children. Palm Cove a short stay would be nice too.
