Where to stay in Kota Bharu
Kota Bharu hotels & accommodations
An old beauty - one of the earliest hotels in Kota Bharu has been refurbished. With new modern design, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. However, there are a few rooms for improvements: 1. Bathrooms are too small. A person has to know how to squeeze oneself when using the bathroom 2. Some of the rooms are quite new, even, the contol dashboard for room amenities ...
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here (3 nights). most westerners seem to quickly pass through kota bharu on the way to the perhentians, but we feel it is well worth staying a couple of nights at least. we found the people to be generally friendly & accommodating. our room was clean & comfortable with a man-size bath & shower. even room service meals were cheap & del...
Overall great hotel to stay in Kota Bharu, a good option id you want to stay near the famous late night market WAKAF CHE YEH. Serve good food & staff very helpfull, professional and friendly. Not far from down town Kota Bharu and about half an hour from Thai Border town of Rantau Panjang.
This is my 5th trip to Kota Bharu. We definately will stay in Renaissance Hotel because of the strategic location. The hotel is near to the town especially Pasar Khadijah and quite close to Pantai Cahaya Bulan (PCB). It will take us about 20 minutes drive to get to the beach without heavy traffic. My family especially my hubby love to be in Kota Bharu because of th...
This is a very nice cosy hotel in Kota Bharu. There is a shopping mall (KB Mall) just next door and there is quite a bit of food in the form of traditional kopitiams and also a few fast food outlets next door in KB Mall.
I would like to stay again if going to Kota Bharu. Easy location to anywhere around town and centre of attraction
It was a short stay, hotel in Kota Bharu are more expensive to compare to the neighbouring Terengganu, this hotel is one of the value for money hotel. The room was spacious and there was a stall that is open 24hours in front of the hotel, eating out at night is not a big problem. During daytime, there were many shops and restaurants around this area. I would definit...
I took my family to Kota Bharu on the 11 November and we decided to stay at the hotel after seeing the good review of the hotel.Initially I found it difficult to go to the hotel but after asking around I managed to find it.Since then, I had no difficulties moving around as the hotel is strategically located and is near to all the places of interest. The room is clean, s...
The offer the king bed as requested. Good aircond with space to do office works. High rate of soeed in wifi. A good place to peaceful reading and rest mind. Near to Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Kota Bharu Town and Airport Faris Putra. Good for business or leisure holidays. The price a big expensive but worth with the service provided. Free parking and security.
Easy to find, parking available as side and rear. reception very attentive and as my partner is invalid gave us a 1st floor room. which was clean and well appointed with water vending machine. shower room clean. our two nights stay here was nice. within easy reach of shops and food places. for breakfast there is small coffee shop making excellent roti telure and nas...

I live in Kota Bharu where interruption of water supply is frequent. So this hotel is our escape place because it is cheap - RM30 - RM80 per night. the hotel staff quick response to our complaint about the air conditioning problem was much appreciated. the only setback is this hotel is in the area of permanent night market. difficult to get parking spaces. the good thing is we can find many kind of food. the hotel is clean. the hotel is not too far from kota bharu town.
My second time stay here. Still the best in kota bharu. I would recommend this studio to anyone. Have free parking lot at basement. The owner very friendly.
I stay at 3 bedroom apartment. The apartment is a Pelangi Mall Condoninium which is very near by Dynasty Inn. The apartment are 4 rooms attach with 3 bathroom. It very large and can fix in at least 10 people adults. The best things is got swimming pool.. Totally very relaxing & enjoy during my stay at Kota Bharu.
You will be stayed in a studio apartment for the pay of a normal hotel room's rate. Park your vehicle at the basement for free of charge with the eyeing of security guards. This hotel is located in the heart of Kota Bharu city, so for those who staying without own transport, so easy to get public taxi/bus as well as the amenities are surrounding you e.g. restaurants, 7...
got a bed to sleep, shower, soap, towel, wifi and a TV (no astro channels)... walking distance to main Kota Bharu area.
No doubt this is one of the best stay I ever had in Kota bharu so far. The reception are superb. Location are nice. Room are clean and big. But , the only problem I had on my stay is the toilet bowl. It's really inconvenient for people to sit on it because it's abit too close to the wall. 😅 Definitely will stay again on my next visit. Thank you
The good things are...super value for money, not many people know this hotel so normally easy to get the room, the tallest building in kota bharu u can see the whole kota bharu town and even the beach in sunny day. May sets of sofa at the foyer n few of simple dining table make a perfect place for family n big group. Also can use swimming pool. Cons - hard to fin...
Welcomed by an old lady with a very pleasant treat. Very helpful in guiding me about the transportation in Kota Bharu. The room was just nice for a standard queen bed. Accommodate with water heater, TV, kettle, two sachets of complimentary coffee, overall was a good deal and value for money.
If you are looking for a budget hotel to stay in Kota Bharu, this hotel is recommended. Strategic location where you can just walk to almost all tourist attractions in Kota Bharu. Please don't expect much as it's just a budget hotel but the basic necessities are there.
The hotel is just near the central bus station, and pasar is just accross the street. It locates just the center of this small town, convenient for any activity. And it's quiet and clean, nice equipment, nice staff, very comfortable stay.
Very strategic location in Kota Bharu town. Walking distance to all the main attraction, food and market. Staff was friendly and informative when we check in. Room is clean and since it comes with a little pantry plus basic kitchen tools, I was able to cut up some local fruits bought from Kota Bharu night market. Will definitely recommend this place in future!
The room is in double decker styled. Cleanliness may need to improved. But I like the friendly staffs there and good service by providing free flow coffee and simple breakfast.
I like the fact that they have fast internet access ( & i've been to an expensive hotel that does not give internet access in the room itself and the one in the lobby was very poor). As i always have business to attend to in Kota Bharu, it is easy to move around when staying here. The surround area was not as congested as other places and parking was always available.
everything is so smooth and very enjoy the scene from top. but the parking car is need to more wide. make so hard and panic to park the car. Everything are recommend with the price are reasonable.
Very cheap, very strategic location. good access and friendly hotel staff.
Great and clean hotel i have ever stay in Kota bharu.

pleasant stay with friendly staff. strategic location. close to eatery place. next to best nasi arab. worth try. spcious room with basic needs. would come again next time if happens to come to kelantan
Very friendly staff. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Free toast and kaya jam in the morning. No hot showers, but toiletries were provided. Free water and towels also. Close to cheap local food. Not a whole lot to do for backpackers in Kota Bharu, but this was a nice and relaxing place to stay.
Pretty good. Gym is fun. Loc is great. City is nice, with a few interesting museums and a useful place to stock up for working travellers like ourselves (stationary mostly, the hostel is next to a stationary shop). Guy was pretty grumpy and unhappy - got the vibe he was just sick of looking after tourists. He was hardly ever their and would lock up when he left, which ...
The three of us drove and it took us about 2 hours to find the hotel after we reached Kota Bharu town. This is in spite of the fact that we have a GPS set in our car. The problem was that we are unable to log in the address of the hotel. Perhaps it was too new, too much recent development in the area or some other issues. We found out that its location co-ordinates was...

Nearby the restaurant & pasar besar Siti Khadijah
It is near to all the tourists attractions in Kota Bharu. Other than the non-functional water heater, the other things are great.
Very central but might be a little bit hidden to find but it’s all good. It’s super cheap if you share a room instead.

The staff was very very friendly, they also recommended us few local restaurant to try, even teached us how to go to the restaurant since we're not familiar with Kota bharu. Price are reasonable. Location nearby Mydin mall Kubang Kerian. Cleanliness are very satisfied. Staff are very friendly. Facilities are very satisfied. Room motel like hotel 4 star. Must stay here for budget traveller.
My stay is excellent. The location is nearby a river, what a new experience. Have to prepare deposit for about RM50. No wifi provided. Large parking area. The bedroom & toilet is clean. Also have floating restaurant in the same resort. The food price is reasonable & the dine is good. Easy to find if you are from Kota Bharu. Just heading your way to Bachok & you will fi...
Everything was good, the staff is really very helpful, i have arrived way late then my schedule but they do entertain me in a good way, but they should replace their pillows, it is too stiff. Thank you so much for the great hospitality
Told the owner about the mosquitoes in my room and he did something about it.
Large clean room with decent bathroom and effective AC. Nothing special, but such good value. 10 mins walk from bus station and 30 mins by car to Wakaf Bharu train station. For short stay whilst in Kota Bharu this place is ideal
Value 4 money, near to wakaf che yeh nite stalls,5 mnt to kota bharu town, strategic place
got a bed to sleep, shower, soap, towel, wifi and a TV (no astro channels)... walking distance to main Kota Bharu area.
This premise should be rebranded as a Budget Htl/ Backpackers Inn.rather than those who stays at a 2-Star Htl and above. My expectation was very high (being a former Dir.of HR of Hilton Int / Local 5-Star Htl). I was given a windowless room/air condition was OOO/unclean room/bad stench fr carpet. I was conned by the advert (they only show cups/saucer.
Very cheap, very strategic location. good access and friendly hotel staff.

The best thing is WIFI services, full bar at room and secured. Water heater and local channels available. It was not too bad although we feel insecure in the room especially at night, aircond not cold as the next room, only local channels available with one Thai channel without sub, Astro only available near front counter. Be prepared to climb up and down through stai...
We arrived late just as member of staff was leaving, she said the room was open and key inside - all ok. when we went into room, before doing anything, we inspected bed for bed bugs as we usually do . lifted the pillow and found 3 bugs crawling around and once we looked around the rest of the bed they were in every corner . with no staff in the building we contacted ...
This hotel is close to my parents' place and I only venture this during raya festival. Normally I choose hotels within Kota Bharu but due to past experience with bad traffic, here I am. The place is good and I would to love to stay here again. Auntie is a friendly person, but too bad I didn't have the chance to meet her. Self check-in was smooth, room is big and comes with a super large balcony! I stayed outside for at least an hour just to observe the surroundings. Perhaps they should fix the broken toilet door lock. Other than that, a good place to ...

Good for a family with 2 Adult and 2 Children (age 10 below). Very good location, located at the main road (Jalan Pengkalan Chepa) and only few minutes to the heart of Kota Bharu city.
Very nice and privacy place! Love the view and the design of the house..Just a small issue with the mosquitos at nite..Make sure you bring insect repellent.. :)
I book the room for my parents. New hotel, so the interiors all still new. Aircond functioning well, in fact it relieved us as kota bharu is very hot and sweaty. So we are enjoying and relaxing in our hotel room
This is a place that everyone should visit. It’s location on the Geting River on the leeward side of the barrier island from the South China Sea is fantastic. You are right at the northern end of the Glorious Jungle line of the Malaysian peninsula. There are few westerners here but the Malaysians know this beautiful location. + clean + location + friendly host - swimming pool is so nice but not clean - no toast machine
WASH ROOM NOT CLEAN PROPERLY
Highly recommended. Owner easy to communicate. Pool best. Parking easy. Near to attraction place.
the facilities is in great condition. walking distance to wakaf che yeh.supportive and responsive host
It is the best homestay that I stayed. Too clean, and comfortable. The facilities were complete, just like own home (except no pool, but that's cool). If you are travelling with group, as many as about 30 people can stay in this house
Luxury hotels in Kota Bharu
Pros - location near to main attractions, overlooking the river. The house is exactly as per the photos, well kept and cleanly decorated. Swimming pool was so-so and operates from 10am-7pm. Host was very helpful and attentive. Cons - not the owner's fault but wanna highlight to those driving big car. spiral parking ramp is difficult for big car to move. We use starex ...

If you like peace, this will be the best city to visit, they are not in hurry for everything. You can get anything you want even though this a muslim state.
The conservative city of Kota Bharu is the capital of the state of Kelantan. Kelantan is part of a federation where an Islamic majority party is in power for many years.
a descent city with nice people. For a tourist, there's nothing much to see. However, since its quite near to Siam, its a good pit-stop to continue your journey to north
It is a place to learn and know about the Malay tradition and culture. Uniquely, the local Chinese are able to speak the Kelantanese dialect quite well.
you can go to Pantai Cahaya Bulan (beaches) to have a beutiful scenery and play kites and it tooks about 15-20mins via car from airport.
Its a lovely place to visit and shop. Being on business trip I was able to witness the diversity of the place especially at night.
This city were claim as a islamic state mean that some restriction that you should follow. you may go to internet to get some information.
A conservative state. Food are generally good but need look for clean food. Hotels are generally overprice.
An emerging city caught in a transition between tradition and modernity. A city with strong Islamic influences and very traditional dwellers.
Kota Bahru was a Islamic State, no alcohor can be found over here in the evening you have nothing much to do.
Never dispointed to visit for second time if you plan your visit, stay near to interesting place and to taste many food stalls around Kota Bharu itself.
If you are searching for a 'peace of mind' in terms of sight seeing, shopping or foods, then Kota Bharu is the place.
so far everything is good in kota bahru, only the taxi fare is quite expensive. from kota bahru to aiport they charge about RM30, they only take about 10 minutes drive.
Kota Bahru is a very quiet city and the people there are very friendly. The food is very delicious and Nasi Kerabu is a must try and also the teh ais madu near Kedai Buloh in Warung Pak Mat is superb.
Very local, great for nature and to know more about the Traditional life and nice finger food all over the place.
The RITZ Boutique Restaurant cook delicious lamb dishes. At Pantai Chahaya Bulan malay stall serve Special Teh Tarik with honey.
is a dull city. A transit point to go to the Islands. The main attraction is City Khadija Fruit Markey and the nearby Batik shops but that is it.
Food Heaven! Yes, there are plenty of restaurants/cafes/stalls serving delicious traditional Kelantanese treats.
Variety of cuisines ranging from Malay,Chinese,Indian and Siamese food. You need to know exact location for good food especially for breakfast!!!!
Travel a bit further and there is beaches Travel a bit further and you able to buy freshly made cracker
Pls do not visit this city during the month of Ramadhan if u are a non-muslim. There are nearly 0 shops open during day time even the fast food restaurants.
Very quiet town with absolutely no nightlife. Quite scary to walk around alone at night and there were sounds which sounded like gunshots being fired.
a peaceful place. place to visit : Wat Phothikyan Phut Thak Tham, Wat Photivihan Food must try : Khao Jam
Many cultural and historical building and tourist point around the city area. Taste the famous and delicious Kelantan food like Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang and etc at Kota Bharu.
I kind of like the town, people are friendly but their dialect is different and at times hard to understand, eventhough I understand the malay language.
Food - nasi air, laksam, nasi dagang, etc. Shopping - Pasar Siti Khadijah (go upstairs! Look for stairs near entrances), Bazar Buluh.
Culture and history were different with other country. Nice shopping with many attraction with unique design for batik and songket.
Its basically a city with local products in markets and local food. Other than that, its disappointing.
Kota Bharu is a more conservative town in Malaysia. On of the things that ladies will absolutely love is the amazing "batik" cloth which Kelanatan really excels at.
This place is full of trees and flower. if you like nature definately must come. Not only having good time in Kota Bahru but also drive into Thailand in just 30 minutes.
