Nong Khai hotels & places to stay

Its just 1km from the bus station, we paid a tuktuk 40baht to the hotel and its like 5mins to get there. We like our stay at the hotel since its only5mins to be everywhere by walk. There are the very well-known Vietnamese Restaurant, the indochina market and temples along the Melong River. We walked to see the sunrise in the early morn at the river and the weather was so nice. Also, there are so many steet food around the hotel. I would recommend to try the PadThai and Thai papaya salad at the corner of the road. the fresh juice is only25baht. I just cant wait to be back to Nongkhai again. This city is so lovely and chill. After the stay at the hotel, we've been to Vientiane, Loas by using thier service. One day tour in Vte is a must thing to do and its really worth my spent.

Great room, clean, very comfortable bed and high quality bedding. The pool is fantastic, huge and clean, and is accessible directly from many of the rooms. I was very surprised to get upgraded to the Pool Access room! The staff is wonderful. The manager, who speaks wonderful English, checked me in personally, and the helpful staff assisted me with my bags to my room. Breakfast is also very good. Nice selection of local and Western food. Good and prompt service at the restaurant, staff always offering me to try local dishes, I kept having to say no because there was already too much (good) food! Location is a little further away from the center, but it's actually very close to many major tourist attractions in Nongkhai. The hotel offers free rental bikes. Service is impeccable. I had some problems getting a last minute flight to Bangkok, and the staff were great in helping me get the tickets and even printed out the confirmation for me. I loved my stay there. Will come back!

after you check in this hotel you will know what is thai hospitality. the service that really make this hotel outstanding compare to their competitors. of course you must compare with the hotel in the same price range. there still have many good hotel in nongkhai but you might require to pay double to get what offer in this hotel. the location are perfect not far from the bus station, most of the tuk tuk or taxi driver knew about this hotel. walking distance from mekong river side and tha sadet market. the room are spacious, clean linen, clean toilet, clean floor ... everything are perfectly clean. breakfast are reasonable especially the porridge make from good quality rice and if you are rice eater you definitely enjoy it. the lady owner and the staff always go all the way out to assist you if you need information for places to visit, transport etc...

We stay here often. One of my favorite places in Thailand. Nice clean hotel rooms and cabanas. Beautiful pool. But best part is the very relaxed feel of the place. Friendly but not overly agressive staff are the perfect fit for the place. Adequate breakfast with both Thai and western options. The emphasis appears to be on the grounds where there are lots of different plants and flowers. You see staff attending to it all day in the relaxed pace that is common at this resort. We love staying here right after Bangkok, the difference in pace is palpable. We see lots of the same people staying here which says a lot. It is a chill resort without all the hipster wantabe attitude that is common in many Thailand resorts. I wish there were more of these types of resorts I'm Thailand!

I really liked the Tanzeno hotel. While Nong Khai is not a large Thailand City, the hotel is minutes off the main highway to Vientiane. The rooms were modern, clean and well-furnished; the hotel was good value for money. The staff was pleasant and helpful. My stay was highlighted by an unfortunate incident – my fault entirely. The room had a safe and as I usually do when I stay in a hotel, I put my key documents in the hotel safe. Well for the first time in my life I did not empty the safe before I vacated the room and left my passport, credit cards, a fairly large amount of cash and other key documents in the hotel safe and drove to my home some 700 km South of Nong Khai. I did not realize until I got a phone call from the lady in my city who owns a taxi service to tell me some 2 days after I arrived home that she had been contacted by the Tanzeno hotel to inform me that I had left my passport and other items in the hotel safe. I have no idea how the hotel got her phone number. When I realized what I had done, I called to hotel and spoke to Ms. Doe, one of the hotel managers and she told me what had happened. She asked me how she can get the documents back to me, I gave her my address and she sent the items back to me by Thailand Post. This morning I received the package with all my documents, cash, credit cards etc. What a relief! So this note is a thank you to the staff at the Hotel Tanzeno for their honesty and their extensive efforts to return these documents to me and also to the Thailand Postal Service. If you look on the Thailand blogs, you will see the Thailand Postal service gets bad reviews. It took 2 working days for the package to get to me and their on line tracking system was very good giving me updates of where the package was. So if you ever have a need to stay in Nong Khai, I highly recommend the Tanzeno Hotel. You will not be disappointed!

This is a basic efficient property. The only amenities in the room were two bottles of water and a mini fridge. The shower was the best I have used in Thailand with body soap and shampoo in dispensers! They have both hot and cold water with lots of pressure. The shower has a half wall with glass above that to keep the toilet paper dry. Hop Inn needs to negotiate a walkway/shortcut out the back of the property. It would shave 10 minutes off the walk around the block to get downtown. I am 65, and let's just say it was good exercise walking to and from town. If you have a car or motorbike it is no problem. I would stay there again.

I had noticed this hotel almost 1 year ago as I live in Nongkhai and thought I must try this hotel one day. Its location is close to the Friendship Bridge and Immigration. It is about a 5-10 minute ride from the centre of Nongkhai and its attractions. The hotel has a swimming pool which is clean and an outside dining area. We stayed in the wooden bungalow which was traditional in Thai style and very clean. The breakfast was good and there is a choice of about five sets of breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only bad comment I have to make about this hotel is that they are currently building phase 2 of the hotel at the rear of the bungalows and the noise from construction works starts at 08.00am - 18.30pm which is not very good if you want to relax in your room. I believe the construction works will continue until February 2013.

Stayed in a standard room. Was pleasantly surprised by the large room and good sized bathroom. Shower had strong flow of hot water. Room was comfortable with a fridge and the included wifi has fast download speed. Slept well. Originally intending only to stay one night but extended my stay by another night. Hotel staff can help with scooter rental. They printed a map to help me find my way to the Nong Khai Aquarium. Dee Dee Pohchanah (Thai food) and Mariam (Indian food) restaurants, both recommended in lonely planet are within 200 metres. The bus terminal is about 700 metres away (10 mins walk) along the main street. Attached to the hotel building is a massage parlour offering Thai massage. Just opposite the hotel are some cafes/bars and laundry/tailoring shop. Nearest 7-eleven is about 200 metres towards the bus terminal. Will highly recommended Nongkhai City hotel if you are looking for a nice, modern and comfortable room at affordable price.

I visited the hotel with my wife during the off-season, the price was very good. I was very happy with the hotel. The room was nice and with a nice view and balcony. I had a hire car which I was advised to park in a rough parking lot opposite the hotel. I was very uneasy about parking there as there were large buses and a taxi rank there and very few cars! My hire car had a bump on the roof one day and I took it to a local panel beater, he advised me it was done probably by hand! I suspect it was done on purpose because I was parking in the bus/taxi area, however, I can't be sure! If you are driving, I would insist on not having to park outside of the main hotel, they will make room for you as I discovered later! PS: Taxi's and public transport people are not to be messed with in Thailand. The Thai mafia is involved with a lot of these organizations in Phuket!

There are two hotels in Nong Khai, the Nongkhai Hotel and Resort and the Nongk Khai resort both close to the train station. The hotel is part of a parking lot come warehouse and is quite a way from the main city and restaurants, you definately need a car to stay here or use a Tuk Tuk or Taxi to get into the city. The plus point is that if you wish to obtain a visa from the Thai embassy they will organise a car to take you their and back the next day for Thai Baht1,800. There is also a shop adjacent to the hotel if you are there for a visa run, to compare prices. The only problem I found was the electric sockets were worn and needed servicing and it was difficult to use your charger even with a thai adaptor. I stayed in one of the chalets at the rear of the hotel come garage/warehouse which was reasonably comfortable. The lady at reception called "Mon" speaks very good English.

The Thai immigration officer pointed in the direction of the Hilun Gland Hotel: go back. It is situated beside the Frienship Bridge, could see the trafic between the trees but hardley hear it. Most hotel are situated in this area, certainly those with a swimming pool. Tuk - Tuk 100 to 150 bath for a trip to town or Lotus-Tesco. Arrived without a paper voucher and smartphone out of power. No problem,passport is all they need, good one Agoda. Staff comming from combodia(living and food free)heared about this a lot maybe after the raised thai minimum wage. And children are taken to school in the morning. After reading all the previous revieuws: everybody is right. The very friendly smilling staff could be thought about Thai food, it needs some improvment (my wife is from Lao but also worked as a cook in Thailand). Breakfast: toast fried eggs and some french fries as a garnish. There was jam and we were offerd some sausage. Enjoying this on the furniture made from old big trees was a feast to the eyes and comfortabal. Counting the birds building or restoring nests. Taking a shower before a early evening swim I see a family of chickens sleeping on a treebranche. Meeting with a small lyzzard, heating up beside the pool,on my morning swimm. This hotel can over you a mini experience for a few bath. I loved it. I almost forgot walk 200 meters and under the bridge you finf some thai foodstalls. Definetly would like to stay here again.

What a beautiful place to stay, the owner and his wife were the perfect hosts,was our first time in nongkhai, they told us the best restaurants to go to and they were right,we are stopping there again on our way back to Bangkok, a first class experience, tun the owner even got up early and took us to the bus station to get the early bus to Vientiane, one of the best places we have ever stayed in,the view of the Mekong breathtaking from the upstairs room,highly reccomend this guest house,if we ever go to nongkhai I know where I'm going to stay,book well in advance as I'm sure the rim will be full most of the time,also a great cup of coffee 10 stars for sure.

+New, clean +Spacious room with private toilet (which we didn't expect) and fridge +Peaceful environment +Out of touristic scenery +Lovely Thai people in the suburb just ready to do their best to help you -SO hard to find, even tuktuk drivers didn't know where the place is, but in the end the owner picked us up after we called him. Same thing with the other couple staying there. -2-3km out of the center area, you'll have to use Jira's own tuktuk service or walk.

New place. Enjoyed a spacious room with an adjacent parking bay. Chances are if you are staying here, you have your own means of transportation. It is not quite within walking distance of Nong Khai. It is conveniently located only a few kilometers from the friendship bridge on the highway yet the rooms were quiet despite the traffic. As luck would have it, there's a 7-11 next to it too with a couple food stalls in front that are open in the evening. I didn't need to go to town for anything. Would recommend this as a place to stay if travelling to/from Laos.

This hotel is a bit of a mystery to me, it's brand new, looks really stylish and has a lovely pool but seems to be lacking that certain something. Don't get me wrong at £14 per night it's absolutely fantastic value & you would be hard pushed to beat it anywhere! It could just do with a few extras, bedside lights, room safe & a hair dryer maybe. You'll definitely need your own wheels if you stay here, the journey into Nongkhai takes around 5 mins. Trying to find the hotel can be a mission if you can't read Thai, if you're heading toward Nongkhai/Thai Laos friendship bridge then the hotel is down a dirt track on the left about 1 km before you turn right into Nongkhai (or go straight ahead for Laos). There is a material sign for the hotel but it's in Thai (Great help!)!! Look out for the big Thai Laos arboretum wall, that's it, head down the dirt track for 1km or so & you're there. It is very peaceful. If I'm in Nongkhai again I will definitely stay here again.

I only stayed one night on my way to Laos, but my room was very clean, the grounds were well maintained and everything worked fine. The hotel seems to operate with minimal staff during slow times - so you might find yourself checking in in the parking lot with the security guy. Don't expect any facilities to be open. There is a restaurant next door. Even with the minimal staff, they did everything they could to ensure a comfortable stay. They set up breakfast just for me and they also provided a free ride to the bridge in the hotel van. The property seems to be a holiday resort for Thais and is probably only fully operational during peak periods.

The hotel is nice by itself, room is cozy, all facilities are working well, it's clean, has a big parking. The only one problem of this place is the owner. When we arrived he slept and we had to wait, because the housekeeper didn't know which room should we take. They had very special guests on the next day in the same room, so they were afraid to give that room to us. There is a mention of an "express check-in", but if you're a foreigner, it will take at least 30 minutes with all that paperwork and explaining of thousands rules. The owner was unfriendly at all with me neither with my Thai friend. I've asked to leave my luggage for one night because I had to go to Laos to get a visa and he refused.
