Vientiane hotels & accommodations
After a really difficult time from arriving at the bus station and suffering a ‘rip off’ Tuk Tuk - we were ‘dumped’ from one of the awful shared TukTuk trucks 2km away from the hotel and told it was ‘up this street’ - Travel tip: ensure these Tuk Tuk drivers drop you to the door if your hotel in Vientiane! Suffice to say we were pretty annoyed and very late when we a...
The S Park Design Hotel is an average hotel for Vientiane, but it is a distance from most points of interest. I can't think of a compelling reason to stay in this location unless one has family or business on this side of town. In terms of cleanliness it was okay, but has room for improvement - the room had quite a few long black hairs strewn about. I noted a couple...
I stayed here with my girlfriend for one night and I am amazed by the service. The breakfast ends at 10:30 but because I had to do stuff for my visa I arrived late and the hotel staff still offered to serve me breakfast. The gym and pool is nice and the rooms are very modern and clean. I highly recommend this hotel and the next time I stay in Vientiane I will be coming...
Great hotel in Vientiane , good breakfast, have swimming pool and spa, good views from room ,professional staff ,1 minute walk to thai embassy
We stayed 3 nights from 10 Aug 13. We arrived at 10pm local time after some 20 hours travel – the staff were efficient and had us in our room in no time at all. The hotel is a short drive from the city centre, however the hotel offer a free shuttle. Although the hotel is one of the more expensive hotels in Vientiane it is well worth the price. We had a ground level ...
We had no problem whatsoever staying three nights in Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel. Complementary breakfast was very good with many choices to choose from. Huge rooms with luxurious bathrooms, I loved the garden and the huge pool area! The staff was very helpful, when I asked the front desk to book two more rooms for my relatives after we stayed there for a night, she...
Sengtawan Riverside Hotel was a nice place to stay and I highly recommend it. It was very clean and there was a TV, minibar, wifi, and AC in the room. The room and bathroom were large and toiletries were provided. The lobby was also very spacious and the staff was attentive. I was picked up from the airport (complimentary) and they also offered to drop me off at the bu...
I was totally delighted with this hotel, the Salana Boutique Hotel in Vientiane, Laos. The staff at the Salana are very polite, professional, and frankly quite charming. They are helpful, informative and go the extra mile to answer your questions and ensure you enjoy your stay and see the city while you are there. I was very pleased with the driver that the hotel arra...
I stayed at the Don Chan Palace Hotel & Convention for one day during my layover in Vientiane and I wish it was longer. The staff was nice and greeted me well as I entered the hotel and took me and my luggage to my room with no problem, even though the hotel was huge. I enjoyed a spacious and luxurious (for Laos standards) hotel at a nice price with air conditioning an...
V Hotel was very fine. I paid $7.00 for a taxi from the airport. $21.00 dollars per night. Clean room, good air con, good elevator, hot water in the shower. You also get a light breakfast from 8;00 to 9:30. I saw no flaws with V Hotel, but Vientiane? Never Again. It's now huge and sprawling. No maps available for the crooked main sts. So I took a jarring 6 1/2...
This is a great boutique hotel situated only 5 mins walk to the River and night markets. Location is perfect and the hotel was the best place I have stayed in Laos so far. A true gem and one I will stay at from now on when visiting the Vientiane. Value for money was excellent and the rooms were spotless and a high standard with good internet and all the modern comforts...
Rashmi's plaza is a luxury and comfortable hotel in vientiane for the room is wonderful room i think rashmi's plaza is a best hotel in vientiane i'll be there at soon or every time i go to vientiane i'stay at Rashmi's plaza again and again
The room type i selected was full upon check-in but i got upgrade to Suite Room. The room is really huge including kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom. It's clean and modern. Bed is so comfy. There're some restaurants and mini marts around the building. It's very easy to walk to Thai Embassy. Overall it's such a great hotel in Vientiane. Recommended!!
This was my fifth trip to Vientiane and second time Ive stayed at Lao Golden. It would have been my third time, but last trip it was fully booked. This hotel is a great location if you are is Vientiane for the Thai consulate. It's nice to have a hotel nearby for a few reasons. 1. Taxi's / Tuk tuks in Vientiane are relatively expensive compared to Thailand and you hav...
In terms of professionalism and quality of stay, you can't beat the Crowne. I've stayed here twice and have loved it both times. The staff are professionals (which is not something you should take for granted in a place like Laos, or Southeast Asia in general) and the building is spanking new, as are the big and comfy rooms and facilities. The restaurant/breakfast is v...
We have been to a lot of hotels in Asia and I have to say this was literally Golden sun hotel - the best one we have stayed at. Everything from the service to the food and the room were great. Buffet breakfast was so tasty. Manager runs the hotel very well. And also wonderful fitness center and swimming pool, Spa. They really looked after us being on our trip. Above a...
I have stayed at and looked at several other hotels in Vientiane and nothing was as nice as Lao Orchid. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend especially with no pool facilities. It is close to everything down town. The breakfast buffet with omelet bar was a nice treat. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everything on premise was clean and nice. Staying here hel...
My favorite place to stay in Vientiane. Every time I visit Laos, I stay in Vientiane Luxury Hotel.
Actually this is a good service apartments with basic facilities such as kitchen, many types of rooms, bar cafe, and gym (No swimming pool). You need to ask the cooking tools from the hotel if you want to use it, but they will ask you how long you will stay and i don't what is the purpose of that question. I also having trouble communicate with their staff for a while ...
The hotel seems have a bit of a run down appearance but is really rather good value and possesses great character . Rooms are large with nice wooden floors and comfortable beds. It is not a backpacker place, for instance, it was full of Lao government official staying there on my first day. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. I think the one area that can be ...
It is good new hotel. Rooms are clean. Good to sleep. Not nearby the center of Vientiane but nearby Mekong River. Tuk tuk to city center around 3 USD. Dinner is grear however menu in Chinese language. But staff can help to translate. Breakfast is simple but ok. I expected dim sum and other chinese food. But haven't got.
This is the best hotel in Vientiane, and I would definitely return. It is a historically significant building, and the rooms are quite spacious and feel like you are stepping back in time, even though the modern amenities are there and acceptable. It is not a cheap hotel relative to other options in town, but it is extremely centrally located and has a very nice feel...
One of the best hotel/room during our vacation in Laos. A great place to stay after a long hour of night bus ride from Luang Prabang. The hotel even let us for early check in (this is subject to availability) which allows us to freshen up a bit before exploring the City. The hotel is relatively new with all basic facilities are up to date and functions very well. The n...
Simply a really good value hotel in Vientiane in a location which is within walking distances of the main downtown sites. Breakfast was one of the best we had in Laos. Staff always friendly. Even asked us if they could make us a coffee in the breakfast room every morning. Location was reasonably quiet. Airport bus stop right outside door which was very convenient ...
We stayed for four nights in this very nice hotel. The rooms are not big but they're big enough. There's a very small fridge in the room. Air conditioning kept the room at a nice temperature even when the outside temperature was near 40 degrees Celsius. The staff was very polite and friendly. The breakfast cost 10 USD per person. It was good but maybe a little overpric...
This hotel is the best choice in Vientiane if you are looking for a decent hotel that offers some luxury at a budget rate. We booked two superior rooms for one night only. The rooms were big enough and the beds are soft, the linens immaculately clean. The interior of the rooms is distinctively Lao. The broken glass art work at the lobby enhances the beauty of the hot...
Cheap places to stay in Vientiane
It's best if you book in for multiple nights straight away, as then they'll try and give you a bottom bunk in a quiet spot. Still had a bit of music and really loud snorers, but that's usually an issue in large hostels. Always bring earplugs. Staff were pretty helpful, though it was clear they made their money through commissions and services. The main lady is from Vie...
We stayed here while visiting Vientiane for 3 days. We somehow managed to get a private room, which was just a doom room with 4 beds (2 king size, 2 bunk beds) that we had to ourselves. We had no issue with the air-conditioning being cut off during the day, we had control over when it was on/off. The free breakfast that was provided was a nice touch, but like other rev...
Returned to Avalon for an additional night on my way back from the north. This time I took a smaller room which I regretted as it was really tiny. You could hardly walk around the bed and the bathroom was nothing more than a toilet with a shower in it. I booked the room for 2, but when I checked in I was alone (my partner was parking the car) and they gave me a breakf...
This is a NEW HOSTEL 1 year old. They have thick bed mattress which I have looked for. I got back pain in many other places because of too thin/cheap bed mattress. Hostel is very clean or at least cleaner any other hostels. Because everything here is new, owner takes care of them well to keep it last long. Free breakfast with care! They offer two eggs, sandwiches an...
For anyone heading to BKK after, I asked one of the people that worked there and they gave me a price of tuktuk and bus to border way over than it really was. Maybe they were trying to get me book the trip to bkk through them, but it’s all good. Tuk tuk to bus station should be no more 30000 kip. Bus to lao-thai border is 8000kip. Train from Nong Khai to BKK is 898 Bah...
It was a breeze! The hostel staff just takes really good care of you. From the duration of your stay, how to go around the areas in Vientiane and even help with your travel bookings. I couldn't be more happier.
My friends and I were just passing through Vientiane for one night and found the great price on Agoda. We only stayed one night, but it was a nice hostel for backpackers..clean room, hot showers, wifi, and breakfast included! What else do you need? :)
Funky Monkey was one of three cheap accommodations that came up when I used Vientiane as a key strong on Hostelworld’s website. When I say cheap, we are talking USD5 a night for a bunk bed kind of cheap. This is one of the cheapest accommodations I have booked so far, and the quality of the dorm is not that bad either. Good catch.
Recommended by a friend from Bangkok, i actually was staying in another bed bugs infested hostel and was forced to move here. Here, i was greeted by friendly Vietnamese owners who run the hostel very well. aircon was avail all day, unlike other hostels that on it during certain times of the day. dorms were spacious and beds were suitable for tall people like me. beds...
We enjoyed our stay very much. Very comfortable bed. Good bathroom. Perfect working lighting. The receptionist was a lovely young lady who speaks perfect Thai and English as well as Lao. She answered all our questions with great enthusiasm. Organised our bus away to Luang Phrabang and supplied us with the best bicycles in Vientiane. Unfortunately our taxi driver on arr...
Somehow the hostel managed to strike a perfect balance. The beds, which are comfortably large, comes with privacy curtains for times when you require some peace and quiet. The rooms and toilets are always kept clean, and the staff do their best not to intrude during house-keeping. Personal lockers are provided in your own space so there is no need to get out of bed to ...
I was only visiting the City for Visa/Embassy purposes but had to stay over the weekend as arrived too late to the embassy on Thursday so had to go back on Monday for my passport. The staff were super friendly and looked after me well my room was fine, cheap and included double bed, wardrobe and desk etc The only thing I was disappointed about was that I found out on...
The hostel itself was fairly basic but had everything you could need , Free Lao vodka from 8-10pm every night. - warm shower, comfy bed, A/C. Was great location, free breakfast if you were up before 10am and the lady who runs it was so helpful and lovely, I think she made my stay here so much more accommodating. Spent 3 nights here as loved Vientiane so much and this h...
I've been on the road for 8 months. This hostel was the best hostel i've ever stayed in my whole travel. Everything is new and super clean. Staffs are super friendly and helpful. Situated in opposite of the best vegetarian restaurant in Vientiane, in the downtown. It's very close. If you're fellow vegetarian i would love to recommend this place absolutely much. So, i d...
This is definitely my best accommodation in Vientiane, but I have a notice for potential guests who may chose My Box Hostel & Cafe. There was some construction work just next to My Box Hostel & Cafe (at least 11th and 12th in June 2019) and it caused a really serious problem by making awful sound and vibration which made me unslept since 09:00 till 18:00. Of course i...
I stayed at the Vientiane Star for just one night while on a visa run from Thailand and would definitely come back. The staff is very friendly, the Wi-Fi connection works well at the outside bar as well as in the rooms (or at least it did in my room), the location is excellent and near the main tourist drag (the little bit there is), the fittings in the room and the ba...

I've been to Vientiane several times and this place was the right place for location and price. Owner is chill and had a nice time.
for my first "dormitory hostel" vientiane travelers house was a great find. i had to do a quick visa run and ended up staying for the weekend. the guest house is in the center of the city. i walked everywhere, i wanted to go. the location was prime. they also have bikes for rent which i rented for two days and free wifi which is extremely fast. the dorms not only h...
Good size room...clean .toilet room clean ,good English speaking t.v Movies ,,football ,,,etc......staff and boss where fantastic ....the only down side to our 4 night stay was ...across the room from yours ,it was like store room ,,inside was somekind of big water boiler ...it must of supplied the whole floor or floors because every 5 mins it made a big banging noi...
The guesthouse staff knew nothing about my booking, they refused the booking confirmation until I showed them the email address of the recipient of the fare. My family had to wait for an hour before the co_owner phoned his brother to confirm the booking. I have been really disappointed and frustrated for their unreliable and unprofessional business
Budget hotel. Near by downtown.
I've read reviews and was prepared for the upsetting stay, but it was the cheapest option in town, so we took a risk. We were the only ones in the whole dormitory and later realised why - Agoda made a mistake, Benacam Boutique was getting ready for the new season and wasn't letting anyone in yet. What I can say is that they are fully ready for the upcoming season - new...
great room for the money, fridge, water heater, nice bathroom, huge room, comfy bed, etc. Room at front of hotel quite noisy, only slat windows so the roar of traffic a bit annoying at first, but quickly got used to it and overall still happy to have stayed here.
The community rooms, bathrooms and our room were all very clean and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is basic but is of course nice if it is included. Free coffee, bananas and drinking water are a nice touch. All in all good value for money and a pleasant stay for us. The hostel demands that its guests behave quietly so that everyone can have a r...
Very good staff, friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic but for the price it's some of the best value in Vientiane. Some guests are a bit of weird but if you just come to sleep and not hang out in the hotel it's fine. I think it's just like that in Vientiane in general but this hotel was fine for us!
It was very good to stay for me cause i had to leave the next day quite early to domestic airport. Staff was so nice even if i arrived 1am. One thing is that i had to shout for a minute cause the door was locked. Except that, everything was reaonable to the price. The best thing was about this hotel was that they sent me to the airport in the early morning for free. I ...

This is the best hotel in Vientiane for this price. Top reasons I picked this hotel was the pool, the fact it is a new hotel, price and location. Also their shuttle service is much cheaper than the local taxis, next time I will call ahead for airport pick up. They also offer free bikes to ride around the city which is another bonus considering taxis are 1000% more exp...
Stayed 5 nights and LOVED it... Highly recommend it... Can walk to the night market, and many, many very nice restaurants... The BEST coffee shops that I have been at - Siouk Coffee (opposite the night market) is incredibly GOOD, amazing peppermint latte... the hotel room is large, the bed is comfortable (on the hard side, but not too hard), the A/C is fantastic, the W...

My partner and I stayed at the Ansara Hotel 3 times during our travels around Laos. After reading the reviews online, we had to try it! It was average at best. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's in the center of town and super convenient for tourist. You can walk to get a massage, eat, and shop. Laos people are super nice by nature but the staff needs professional training. I understand the language very well and can hear them speak to each other. They lack tack, proper chain of ...
This residence hotel offers small apartment equipped with kitchen, living room and balcony. We booked a “Studio Premier”. 85€/night. The building and the rooms are new, clean and well equipped. I like the separate toilet and bathroom. The staff is friendly, responsive and helpful. The place offers a good value for the price. The only small issue is that it is about 30 ...
I have stayed in many hotels in Vientiane. This hotel is far and away the best vlaue. The average room size are considerably larger than you normally get for an approximate $50.00 per night hotel cost. All of the rooms have balconies and many have excellent views of the nerby Mekong. Although it is an older hotel, it is clean and tidy. On the downside, the breakfas...
Rather new hotel, room pretty nice and in good condition. Bathroom also fine although shower water pressure fairly low (6th floor). Hotel built by a Chinese person and nearly all guests are Chinese - some hotel employees spoke English very well, others (more than half?) only Chinese and Lao which might be a problem for English only speakers. Hotel staff reasonably frie...
the hotel was about 15-20 minutes from wattay internatioinal airport. all staffs were extremely professional, courteous and friendly. the room was very clean and comfortable with all facilities available. the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the mekong river, 3km walk to patuxey park via avenue lane xang and the morning market. it was a pleasant stay and enjoyable...
This hotel really is exceptional value when you compare the price of the rooms with those in the central city area. It's quite close to the airport, not near the city center. However, the staff are amazing and give a very personal service. There is a free hotel shuttle bus everyday at 10am, 3pm and 8pm. The van will take you anywhere you want to go, any of the main tou...
No Doubt about it. It's more my expectation. The room is so nice, quite , clean. Moreover All of staff are polite and friendly. I recommend for all traveller and particularly if you want to visit Laos for business trip. Bring it on Five star for The Park Vientiane.
I reckon you could pay a bit less elsewhere, but for just a little more of that earned money you could stay here, in a new bed, bathe in a new bathroom,. All very clean, spacious, with a pool and a staff that’s just as sweet as Tupelo honey. Great coffee shop down the road called Dada with higher speed WiFi and sensational raisin rolls to feast on while you wait f...
I was in Laos for 4 nights doing a visa through the Thai embassy. I enjoyed staying at this hotel a lot. It is conveniently located quite close to the embassy although I did have to use public transport. The hotel was very accommodating in providing transportation to the embassy at a very reasonable rate. The room was very nice. The linen and towels were of high qualit...
This hotel was excellent. It's not too far away from the centre of town although renting transport is a good idea here. The staff are polite and helpful. Check-in/out very fast and easy. Lovely pool area, okay breakfast selection, clean rooms, very comfortable bed, good shower (although water not hot, warm)possibly the smallest gym in the world. This is my new choice o...
My stay here was just delightful. I had a beautiful room overlooking the Arc de Triumph, Super clean, beautiful bathrooms, the staff were more than helpful. They couldn't do enough actually.Real value for money. Definitely would stay there again and recommend it over certain 5 star Brand name hotels in Vientiane.
My 2nd visit here. I use this hotel for transit between domestic and international flights. Excellent pick up drop off airport transfer service. Great food at the resturaunt and adequate room facilities, instant hot water and good water preassure, well functioning and quiet AC.
I went to the Cosmo Hotel in Vientiane, Laos for a t4-days trip. The selection was based on some internet reviews, the price of the rooms, a recommendation by a friend and the proximity to NUL university. My impression from the place is twofold: On the one hand the rooms are clean, have TV and WLAN (which has to be paid extra, though!), on the other hand I felt like ...
One of the best hotels in Vientiane. Very friendly staff, immaculate rooms, and good internet which is very hard to find in this area. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms have very hot water with rain showerheads. The cafe downstairs is also modern and cute with good food. There is a minimart next door and a small bar. Definitely recommend.

The Lao Plaza Hotel is probably the best hotel in Vientiane. The rooms are quite nice and well equipped. The location is OK and the staff is friendly and helpful. A quiet city that could be romantic for couples, the language barrier and weak tourist infrastructure make it more of an "adventure destination.
Vientiane is a city, if you never been here before and just come here for an experience will do. May come to Laos through here to Long Probang.
We enjoyed see a couple of the monuments and stupas. However 1 days is enough to see most everything.
A small town. Easy to see all there is to see, which is not much, in a very short time frame. There is fairly good food.
Nothing much too do. Nice coffe shops and restaurants. Very French, fantastic baguettes and croissant.
Friendly, kind, honest people. Amazing food at restaurants and street vendors. The night market on the river is lovely.
I rented a bike to tour the countryside with a guide. The bike rental was on the same street as my hotel (Ibis) it was very convenient.
Excellent..visa service for most embassies Good food and great shopping. Don t miss the night market along Mekhong river.
Small & relatively tranquil for a national capital, but good for a few days of relaxation, some light sightseeing, Beer Lao, and fairly authentic European food.
Its a quiet city. I was surprised by the wine that was there, stores everywhere with high end stuff. Wasn't sure if it was legit or not.
This capital city is getting larger with a large influx of foreigners in living here. Traffic is becoming a nightmare.
The capital city of Laos is a quiet chaos of people and changes. Many people are flocking to this city to do business and to buy up land, space, and/or buildings.
the area near the river is the old French part of town, along Rue F. Nginn and the parallel streets. it is full of good restaurants.
There is not much to do in Vientiane to warrant more than a 1&1/2 days at max as a tourist. There are plenty of Wats to see and that is mostly it.
In short: if you do not like the mass tourism industry of Thailand, but do like South East Asian culture, it be easier to find it HERE.
Inner Land city near the Mekong River and opposite of River is Thailand . Most of the people here are friendly and no many car and very quiet city and no pollution.
There is not much to be done nor seen in the city itself. One full day will cover most of the attractions.
Beautiful city with many amazing tourist attractions and temples. City streets are always crowded with cars and they will park anywhere.
Vientiane is pretty laidback capital - even for a South East Asian standard. There's virtually no traffic, nobody is rushing anywhere, and there's so many cool coffee and pastry shops to choose.
It was too hot during the day and quit many shops were closed before opening for dinner. Night market was great because we could see the beautiful sunset in the river where many locals also enjoy walking and exercising.
Must see places are Pha That Luang, Patuxai, Wat Sisaket, Buddha Park, Night Market, sunset by the Mekong River.

Very modest and limited options to do anything. 2 days here would be more than enough to do sightseeing
It's a quiet sleepy town, very flat terrain if you rent a cycle, many temples if that's your thing, no real nightlife to speak of and feels like somewhere you visit briefly on the way to somewhere else.
It is a strange place. Run down and sort of empty. Interesting and safe to check out but not a place I would go to if I didn't have Visa business there.
