The First Residence Hotel is located on the far end of Chaweng, but songthaews are constantly driving by & can take you anywhere you need to go on Koh Samui for super cheap rates. Right across the street is an Italian restaurant that serves delicious food. There is a lovely pool on the premises & the rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff was extremely friendly & helpful. A small yet tasty buffet is served for breakfast each morning. I truly enjoyed my stay at this hotel & extended my stay several times.

Great hotel, greatly underestimated.”

First residence is a little away from the action, but that is alright, as Chaweng is very loud at night. It is about a 10-15minute walk to the beginning of the main restaurant area. This probably one of the best places to be, unless right on the beach. Upon arriving, we were presented with a hello and a quick check-in, as I had notified prior to our arrival that we needed a later check-in. They were waiting for us and presented us with a nice glass of juice and a wet towel. Someone also helped us to our room. The room was nice and big with many modern, well designed features. There was a nice balcony, we could have taken advantage of, but didn't book enough time at this hotel, very regrettable. After traveling a lot more of Thailand, First Residence was one of the nicest we were at. We got a good deal online, and that is why we booked. If it wasn't for the deal here on Agoda, we probably wouldn't have glanced twice. If the price is within your budget, it is a nice place. The breakfast is buffet style and they make the eggs right there in front of you. If you want an omelette, they will make it right there. Very tasty.

Pleasant surprise”

First Residence Koh Samui was better than I expected. Their logo says "Budget Luxury" so I anticipated a cheap hotel that pretends (on the surface) to be a luxury accomodation with worn down cheap materials and poor standard, but I was wrong. I suggest the hotel change their logo to "Affordable luxury". The location was ideal with free parking under the house, big room with balcony, well equipped with everything you need. Big comfortable bed, clean bathroom (also very clean bathtub!), rich and tasty breakfast, lovely pool with jacuzzi, free beach blanket and access to free sunbeds on the beach, free safety lockers in he reception - and very friendly staff. We had a very pleasant stay and I can strongly recommend it.

Absolutely wonderful”

We loved our stay at First Residence, the staff were so nice, the location was great not too noisy for us. I could not believe the size of the bed it was so big. It was a quick Tuk Tuk ride to all the action, or a nice walk to some good bars and shops. It was a short walk to the beach which was beautiful. I will be going back to Koh Samui and will stay at First Residence again.

good but too far from chaweng”

We stayed in First Residence Hotel just a few nights, but we were fully satisfied. Rooms are quite big for Thai standard, clean and light. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel is just 2 minutes walk to beach. We really liked the beach, that was close to hotel, cause it was not that crowded as rest of the chaweng and had more island feeling. Only thing we disliked was the distance from the chaweng center. Its quite far away for walking, so its better to take a taxi. Nightlife close to the hotel equals to zero. Anyway, hotel is really worth its price. Good place to stay.

we really enjoy staying at the first residence, the hotel and the stuff is really nice, its a ery clean otel and all the facilities are great. the only cons is that is a bit far from the center of chaweng, but they have free taxi to the center 3-4 times a day. we order thrugh the agoda and the price was really good!!! have fun...

The First Residence sent us to The First House”

Being overbooked at The First Residence they sent us to The First House without any extra charges. Not bad since the beach was located at The First House property about five minutes away. They did say we would have to pay for the taxi if we didn't want to walk though.(Luckily we had hiking packs and not large suitcases) At the First House they were very helpful and the hotel was very clean. Our bed however was made by pushing two twin beds together. As well, the balcony view was an amazing 10 foot view right into our neighbors balcony. They made it very convenient to lock personal belongings safely behind the main desk which was nice. Overall, The First House was a great place to stay with the right location, clean beach and water, helpful staff, and wonderful food.

Great Hotel”

this is a great hotel. hotel staff are very friendly. we were very late starters most days and our room was always cleaned. rooms are a nice size and clean. the location was at the far end of chewang which is the quite it is about a 15 min walk to the centre or jump on a tuk tuk. a 2 min walk to the beach. i would highly recommend this hotel. i have stayed on koh samui lots of times and this is the best find for a great price.

Koh Samui fun”

We loved the stay a lot! Koh Samui is a must see for South Africans and the Hotel was a great help in finding all the attractions! We have a Phuket based travel company and we visit all different places to advise our own clients and The First residence will be on top of our list for budget travellers. Our company is called Paradise Golf Tours and we cater especially for South africans who want to see Thailand. The rooms were very clean and the nice folded towels was a good surprise!

if i have another chance to koh samui.i will choose first residence hotel as my first priority again, its location is quite close to lots of resturants, and easy to go out,especially for the staff give a great help for providing informations for us in samui as we didnt prepare anything before i go there

Great Hotel Option Close to Beach”

If you're looking for a hotel that offers a great balance of value, convenience, friendly staff and comfort this is a great option. By staying here you'll also have access to the private beach that is part of the First Residence, First Hotel and First Bungalow Resort. You have access to a second pool that is closer to the beach. It's a little quieter in this area but there are still plenty of restaurants close by. Alternatively, you can walk to the food court (15min) or take a Tuk Tuk (4min). The beach is great, clean water and not too crowded. We stayed at the more expensive bungalow for the first 5 nights and the staff at First Residence are much friendlier and more helpful as a general rule. Good size rooms, reliable wifi and good breakfast.

Just a bit out of Chaweng, but close enough ”

This is a nice hotel located just a 15 minute walk out of the main Chaweng area; for this reason you seem to get alot better value that you do in central Chaweng. The hotel is very nice and so are the staff, the pool is very nice and in the sun for most of the day. The rooms themselves are very modern and clean and very good for the price. The only major drawback we found was that the bath tub took ages to fill up, but it was nice to get a bath tub in Thailand as alot of hotel in Thailand don't tend to have tubs.

good, clean and well situated hotel. very nice swimming pool with good restaurant area. staff very friendly and helpfull. excelent value for money. mini mart, massage, scooter rentals, travel agent and dive centre situated next to hotel. free internet, free bottled drinking water and good menu at restaurant. the hotel offers transfers to and from the airport and is about 100Baht cheaper than a taxi from the airport. will gladly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting koh samui

Good and Great!!!!. I went to koh samui so many times but never stayed at FRH before. My first times at FRH on the 6 DEC to 8 DEC. Its not the name but sure for me is a amazing hotel with the first class feeling.

Budget Luxury”

The rooms, which were cleaned daily with fresh towels changed, were excellent. Modern bathroom en-suite; ice-cold a/c if needed!: a balcony with chairs and table; TV and free wi-fi, although not all rooms can pick up the wi-fi, so it's best to check with the desk staff when you arrive. Swimming pool is very good, and cleaned daily. i didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment about the food. I've paid three times this price for inferior accommodation elsewhere, and that's why I chose to return to this hotel for a second time. The reason it's very good value for money is because it's 30 metres from the beach; if you stay on the beach ( for example at the First House) you'll notice a massive price increase.

Very Happy Stay”

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. It is very modern and clean, cheap and in a nice and quiet location while being not too far from the main parts of Chaweng(where all the tourists are). If you stay here i do recommend hiring a motorbike though as it is about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the main area but there is a mini mart just 3 minutes walk up the road and a few restaurants, dentists, art shops and beauty spas scattered around within 5 minutes walk of the hotel. Breakfast is simple and fresh. There is free internet in the lobby which personally saved me a lot of money contacting friends at home etc. The restaurant is about the mid price range but it lovely food. Definitely worth the money though. Highly recommended!

Very nice new hotel with friendly staff”

we had a great time at this hotel. this was one of the times that our budget hotel was a highlight. it's a new clean hotel, with nice people working there. it's a 10-15 minutes walk out of center of chaweng, but for us it was a nice walk home. we used the extra distance as a little training and was happy when arriving the hotel :-) on the other hand it's lays in a quaiet area, so this is a pro. thanks for now. we will come back. got a fair price through internet booking
