Railay Bay Resort & Spa (SHA Extra Plus)
Railay,Krabi - View on map
"We booked the hotel with Agoda.com - including a free upgrade to a privacy cottage. I wouldnt recommend paying extra for a beach facing villa because you are facing the pool then the beach so you dont get any privacy in your room - privacy cottages are set back a little, we were in room 9004 which was on West Railay as the numbers get higher you are heading to East Railay which isnt as nice. If you read any comments about the staff then i would ignore them - i would say that the island has mixed cultures from the surrounding countries. The thai people are lovely and yes some of the other staff that work their are little abrupt but i would ignore it We got to the hotel via traveling from Krabi airport to ao nang via taxi (500bhart) and then longtail boat to west Railay - be aware of low tide and having to wade out in the sea with bags - it cost 100 bhart each and goes when 8 or more people were ready. Recommend only looking at hotels on West Railay if you want the beautiful scenery - hence why East railay is cheaper and to be honest smells with sewage. The tide goes at lunch leaving a muddy shore behind. I think this part of the island is the trade entrance for the hotels. Boat ride from Railay to Krabi 45mins longtail boat - nothing really worth visiting in the town - would suggest Ao Nang for shopping and if you need western shops this is your place. Hired a longtail boat for half a day 1600 bhart - island hoping around chicken island and Pra Nang Beach worth exploring - Ko Phi Phi is at least 2.30hrs away via longtail boat. Rayavadee Hotel is a must for dinner for at least 1 night - it is one of the top 100 places to stay in the world and whilst it is expensive to sleep their the restaurant is good value - you pay about £30 for wine compared to about £10 back home but to be honest we were sick of Singha beer towards the end of our tip. I would say that the Railay Bay resort which is next door to Rayavadee is the second best hotel on the Island es"

"Writing this my the roof top pool, looking out at the sea. Don't really write reviews but after a bad start in thailand and this place been a slice of luxury, I felt I owe it to others to write a review. I had a bad start in a hotel a few hotels down, which was not clean and small pool, I then moved to the princeas for only £6 more and it is like a different world. Cold towel and juice on arrival, friendly staff and a bell not to carry your bags. Big room, lovely clean modern bathroom, balcony and free water tea and coffee. 2 swimming pools, one on the roof, free towels, pool side service, mini mart and beautiful restaurant, massive buffet breakfast and free wifi in all areas of the hotel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. On the east side so a short safe walk to the more busy bars and then 10 min walk to the west and sunset beach. Lots of places to eat cheaply and well near buy and lots of places to book tours, found last bar the best and cheapest prices for this. Love this hotel and can't recommend enough !! "

Sand Sea Resort (SHA Extra Plus)

"Our stay was awesome! So much so that we went to Phi Phi for a few nights, then skipped Krabi town and came back here! The pool is a little small and crowded, the check in staff can be a little slow and the eggs lady at breakfast was pretty clueless but apart from that I totally loved it here. One thing their website doesn't say is that while it's in Krabi it's only accessible by boat. We drove, and had a hard time finding the office to park our car at but we found it in the end near the jetty. Our car was safe for a period of 5 nights and parking was free. The boat ride over was cheap, but pack light because lugging a suitcase from boat to boat wears thin! When you're at Realeigh Beach Krabi (the beach this hotel is on) make sure you walk around and check out the whole area - east and west side. Tip: get up early, the beach was deserted until about 8am (so too was the breakfast buffet). Meals in the restaurant were super tasty, much more expensive than other areas but generous serves and really tasty. The hotel has an activities centre that organises great day trips - make sure you pop in there to do a day trip. A day trip to all the islands was great fun - Chicken Island etc. The boat that the hotel organised was by far the best boat out on the water that day, so while it might be a tad more expensive it was worth it. We left our wallets, keys etc on the boat and they were well looked after by the staff. They also did a head count each time we got out to swim so safety was important to them - definitely recommend doing this through the hotel. Walking Street is right next door, although pretty small so don't expect much. I'll be skipping Krabi town next time I'm in the area and heading straight here. Best hotel in Krabi I think! "

Krabi Resort (SHA Extra Plus)
Ao Nang,Krabi - View on map
"We decided to spend songkran down at a beach location, and I had never been to Krabi before. When deciding on a Krabi hotel, I wanted a decent sized resort in a central location, that was right on the beach. Krabi Resort ticked all those boxes. When I arrived, I quickly determined that I had picked the optimal resort for the area as Krabi resort was the most centrally located, and one of only a very few that had direct access to the beach. The reason is the resort is one of the originals for the area, but the over the years it has expanded a lot, meaning you can choose between a lot of accommodation options, eg hotel style rooms, or semi detached rooms, to fully detached villas with their own private pool. The resort itself is large and they drive you to your room after you check in. Facilities include two pool areas (one done like a pirate ship), a fantastic gym, large scale chess board with pieces set up, multiple restaurants, mini golf, bicycles for rent, beach, massage etc."

Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort (SHA Extra Plus)
Ao Nang,Krabi - View on map
"Cliff Beach is a really good value for the money. By Western standards it would be a 3-4 star hotel. In Krabi it was really helpful to stay at this kind of place because the staff was very willing to help out with booking the various kinds of trips that travelers come to Ao Nang to take. These are generally booked through an agency anyway (who charters their own boat in Thailand?) so why not have it at a convenient location you can get to by just rolling out of bed? The weather was unpredictable when we were there so it was nice to have a comfortable, DRY! home base that we could retreat to. They also make sure that there are always fresh bottles of water in your room. How sweet. Definitely try the drinks but avoid the creepy in-house "Activity Director"/Muay Thai instructor."

"The bungalows at this resort are very comfortable and clean, quiet at night for sleeping, too (but needs a better mattress)! The staff were generally friendly and helpful. Booking their transfer with private boat from/to Krabi Airport , though expensive, was a fun adventure! It was an easy, pleasant way to arrive and depart. The breakfast was excellent, too...good variety of dishes. The restaurant also offered some delicious meals at reasonable prices (though drinks at the poolside bar were expensive)...nice swimming pool. The resort has some stunning views of those famous Krabi cliffs and even the sea down the hill. I would especially like to commend the Reception staff who were always very helpful. Only one caveat: watch out for the monkeys! They can be very bold and will even try to enter your bungalow if you leave the door open just for a few minutes---one snatched a packet of cashew nuts from my mini-bar!There should be several clear warning signs about this! A great stay overall."

Amari Vogue Krabi (SHA Extra Plus)
Tub Kaek Beach,Krabi - View on map
"The Amari Vogue Krabi was our last stop on our trip throughout Thailand. It was a wonderful way to complete a great two week vacation, even if the country was subject to some of the worst floods in history. The surroundings of the hotel were absolutely beautiful and manicured to perfection. The staff and service were perhaps the best that we have had during the time of our travels. We caught a king mackerel on a fishing trip and the chef prepared it for us at dinner. Perhaps one of the best meals we have ever had. We loved the hotel and only regret that we could not stay longer. Definitely worth the money and we would not hesitate to go back again."

Diamond Cave Resort & Spa (SHA Extra Plus)

"The room were clean enough, but could need some extra scrubbing in the corners and maybe a little new paint on the walls. Bed were clean but very hard, you could feel the springs in your back (I like hard beds so I still got a good night sleep). Good working ac, but made some noise. The pool was supernice and clean, not so many sunbeds though. The hotel is less then ten minutes walk from the pier, and it placed a little bit uphill off the "mainstreet". It's still just two minutes walk to bars and restaurants but lies far enough away for you to not be bothered by the sound from there. It's close to a beach but you can't swim on that one (this is on the eastside), but with 15 minutes walk you're on one of thailands best beaches. I really liked my stay here and would come back."

Apple A Day Resort (SHA Extra Plus)
Ao Nang,Krabi - View on map
"Overall, apple of a day hotel is more than satisfactory. Hotel is clean, staffs are helpful, location is great and many restaurant near by, walking distance to ao nang beach. Hotel buffet is not many to choose but still ok. Like the juice bar so much, it's a way of starting new day with healthy life style. Next time, if I visit krabi will stay again. Instead of staying at hotel at railay beach area, I will stay here and just go day visit to railay beach. Railay beach hotel are not worth money and not good food around that area though the beach is nicer there. There is a swiss cottage beach trip package seller near apple a day resort, they offer the best beach package, cheaper by 400-500 bhatts than other tour company. We booked and use airport transfer from there 150bhatts per person. It is cheap and affordable when taxi charge 600 bhatts. Overall location, cleanliness and food wise, apple a day is the best choice."
