Simply perfect in every way”
First, let me say that the service at the Green Tiger House is nothing short of phenomenal. We booked 6 nights and have enjoyed every single one of them. Like others, I honestly do not want to leave. My wife and I had a brief bout of food poisoning and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were fine and checked up on us. We haven't been spending much time in Chiang Mai and have instead opted for a number of tours/excursions outside the city and therefore have been using the Green Tiger House as our place to rest and relax. There are plenty of places to stay in Chiang Mai with full spa offers but if you want an affordable and relaxing place to stay, this is it. We took a smaller room without a balcony and have been very happy with the room. The breakfast is top notch and the dinner menu is also stellar (avocado salad is simply perfection). The dinner menu is certainly more expensive (but not by much) than other Thai places in the area but the quality is much higher. A few small details to show just how great this place is: - The staff have their own English course once a week - The owner is Swiss and the Swiss, like the Germans, don't typically half@$$ anything. The owner speaks German, French, English and Thai and some of the staff seem to speak either Japanese or Chinese (or both), I didn't quite catch it earlier. Language barriers are non-existent here. - The woman I assume to be the head receptionist is brilliant, I think I might miss her the most. She's always checking with guests, just like the owner, (not just us!) to make sure everyone is enjoying their stay. - The pool is ice cold but very refreshing (some might not like this, I don't mind it) - The guests that this place attracts are varied. You have families, backpackers and couples - everyone is very relaxed. - The location is ideal. Most everything you could want is within a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. Chiang Mia's Old City is small, so that helps, too.

The best part of my visit to Chiang Mai”
The Green Tiger House made my first visit to Chiang Mai a nearly perfect experience. I made my choice based on the price and the reviews here, and I don't think I could have possibly made a better choice for my needs. Daniel and his staff are upbeat and attentive and run both the guest house and restaurant with relaxed efficiency - everything is on point, but no one seems stressed about it. My small double room was perfect for me - compact but including a comfortable bed, desk, small fridge, hot shower, cold A/C, safe, and storage. Breakfast was included and excellent. Being my first time in Chiang Mai, I needed some direction, and Daniel and his staff helped immensely - mapping directions, suggesting restaurants, and even arranging a wonderful unique tour off the beaten path in the hill tribe areas (Thanks, Aun). It's the perfect location just off the main roads in a quiet area, but within walking distance to everything on the Old Town. (Try Fahtara Coffee and Bird's Nest.) If you want to be in a place that's run with a passionate personal touch and true concern for guests' well-being, comfort and enjoyment, you can do no better that The Green Tiger House. I will stay there again and again.

Absolutely Outstanding”
As a vegan, wherever I travel in the world, I always try to stay in vegetarian/vegan accommodation. This is for ethical reasons, supporting fellow vegetarians/vegans and primarily because I just want a decent breakfast! I go to the islands in Thailand every year and, this year, decided to spend a few days in Chiang Mai after hearing about the number of vegetarian restaurants. After some research, the only vegetarian accommodation I could find was the Green Tiger Vegetarian House. I had some concerns as it looked like a hostel and was very cheap so I booked the most expensive room. I was worried about all-night parties in the shared rooms but consoled myself with the fact I was supporting an ethical business and would at least get a decent breakfast. I need not have worried because Green Tiger Vegetarian House exceeded all of my expectations. The building is spread over four floors, looks brand new and is absolutely spotless. My room was large with a balcony and a wonderful power shower. It is located within the old town and you can walk to the majority of tourist attractions in under an hour. To save time, I would recommend hiring a scooter if you are confident driving on busy roads, which is also much cheaper than taking taxis. The free wifi is very fast and available everywhere in the hotel. The service is the best I have received in any hotel anywhere in the world (and I have stayed in some of the best 5* hotels). The staff are completely dedicated to ensuring you have the best possible stay. I wanted to visit some temples and one member of staff spent an hour creating a customised map for me and explaining the significance of each temple. I enquired about organised tours to Doi Inathon and Doi Suthep and they told me they were a waste of money and to hire a scooter and do them myself. That saved me a lot of money and both were well worth doing. If you are going up Doi Inathon, make sure your scooter has a full tank and bring warm clothes because it is a long

Delightful - best stay I've had anywhere”
The owners of Green Tiger have a passion and gift for hospitality. This place is a labour of love and it shows through in every detail: delightful staff; perfect location; spacious, thoughtfully designed rooms with stylish furnishings; a relaxed open eating & drinking area on the ground floor with lovely gardens; great food; a refreshing swimming pool. True boutique. I stayed for 17 nights and spoke to lots of other guests during that time. Without exception everyone felt they'd uncovered a gem. Between them, the two owners - Daniel and Varee - are fluent in Thai, English, Mandarin, Cantonese, German, and French. They're terrific hosts - constantly making themselves available to guests, day and night. Other front desk staff have Thai and English. All the staff went out of their way to make each guest's stay special: organising tours and transport, attending to special requests, shuttling to and from the airport. There are a range of room options, from shared dorms up to spacious Superior rooms. The Superior rooms 406-411 on the top floor all have wonderful views of Doi Suthep behind the old city skyline. On the way to finding Green Tiger I visited 15 different hotels in the old city, all of which were in the same price range and were well-rated by Agoda. Green Tiger was twice as good as anything else I saw. Highly recommended. I'll definitely stay again.

By far the BEST place to stay in Chiang Mai!”
My wife and I had an amazing time at the Green Tiger Vegetarian house. The owner, Daniel and his lovely wife are caring so much about their guests and do their utmost to make the stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. It is really unbelievable how much service and quality you can get for such fair room rates. In detail: 1. Transfer: very friendly driver picked us up at the airport in Chiang mai. Max 8min trip to the hotel 2. Location: hotel its located in the north- west of the old town close to various restaurants, spas and supermarkets 3. Room: we had the superior room. Air conditioning and free wifi everywhere. Clean bathroom. Beds were really comfortable 4. Breakfast: so great. I had the muesli with banana each morning. Coffee is great as well. Fresh smoothies and fresh fruits 5. Trips: the owner was so kind to help us with an elephant tour. I highly recommend that you ask him for advise on what to do in Chiang mai. We also did a Thai massage. Summary : we can highly recommend this place. Nothing to complaint. You won't find such a customer service somewhere else.

Fantastic place to stay!”
We were staying in the dorm rooms for a very reasonable price and we were very happy with the dorm, the lockers provided, the bathroom area and showers (water always hot and excellent water pressure) plus the complimentary toiletries were a nice touch. The guesthouse is a fantastic place to base yourself to meet like minded travellers and chill in the common areas and having the pool to cool off after a hot day in Chiang Mai. We rented bicycles from Green Tiger for a very reasonable 50B for the day to sightsee around Chiang Mai and it is so worth it. The staff were fantastic and very helpful in providing information as well as helping you to book cookery schools etc. The owner Daniel was very helpful and liked to chat to all his guests which created a lovely homely feel. I would highly recommend the Green Tiger. I only gave the food a 3 as we only had the free toast and coffee in the morning so never tried any of the food there. Great for couples, families and individuals. The dorm rooms do not make for a party hostel atmosphere which was lovely as we did not feel like staying up all night drinking after being out cycling all day. You will meet other nice travellers in Green Tiger who you could head out for dinner and drinks with so could not recommend highly enough. A must stay in a great location in Chiang Mai.

WILL STAY HERE EVERY TIME WE VISIT CHIANG MAI!!!”
My husband and I LOVED Green Tiger House!! Amazing location in the Old City - we were able to walk most everywhere if not being picked up for a tour. One of the best parts was the FOOD. We are not vegan or strictly plant-based, but the food was so delicious and the service was incredible. The breakfast that came with our stay started our Thailand mornings off right. We even received souvenir aluminum bottles upon check in! Clean room with all the necessities. We have already discussed staying at Green Tiger next time we visit Chiang Mai. THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL STAY!

Home away from home”
The staff at Green Tiger are the best staff I have EVER encountered in any of my travels (I've visited 15 countries and countless cities). Everyone is friendly and incredibly helpful in making the guests feel comfortable, arranging excursions and discussing things to do in Chiang Mai. I had an issue with my flight (they denied me entry onto my return flight) and the owners of the hotel let me use their personal phone, called various airline and immigration departments in Thailand and China, drove me to the airport and talked with different airline officials, and researched solutions to my dilema. They genuinely cared about my well being. They are the real deal! In addition, I met some really cool fellow travelers at Green Tiger that eneded up being great traveling companions and friends. Also, the afternoon/night staff are the best! They are helpful, kind and fun! It was a wonderful experience! I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Great addition to Chiang Mai accommodation”
I stayed twice, within 3 weeks, at the Green Tiger Vegetarian House and both stays were highlighted by the extreme helpfulness of Daniel, his wife and the staff. I loved the corner room which was light & airy due to the floor to ceiling windows on two walls which opened onto a private wrap-around balcony. The décor throughout was modern with lovely tropical touches. The hotel is situated within the northern wall of Old Chiang Mai, walking distance to Central Department Store & Top Supermarket (important shopping destinations when you live in Luang Prabang)in one direction and a wonderful & cheap local night food market in the other (all just outside the Old City). I will definitely be back.

Home away from home!”
We stayed at the Green Tiger during our first visit to Chiang Mai. We could not get the entire availability for our stay there however I am very pleased that we decided to stay there for the available days. I have been travelling worldwide both for leisure and business but I have not come across any establishment where you get such a homely feeling. Daniel, the owner has done a fantastic job to build this wonderful hotel and the team around it. We felt that we were at home and the staff made our stay so comfortable. They helped us with any of our requests and they also gave us a number of tips for sightseeing places. Breakfast was excellent, the lobby was so relaxing and the staff was just superb. Above that, Daniel is a caring host and often came and spoke to us. We had a little scooter accident while we were there. He even helped us to resolve this issue with the rental company which we felt was very nice of him. This shows how much he cares about his guests. We highly recommend Green Tiger for anyone visiting Chiang Mai and we’ll certainly stay there when we return.

Wow! Truly amazing! ”
We chose Green Tiger for the location because it is all vegetarian which was a real treat for me :-) First impressions were amazing! We received a very warm welcome by the staff in reception who did not hesitate to provide a map and information on some areas to visit. We immediately felt relaxed and comfortable. The room was just lovely, a nice big bed, very clean with water provided every day, the air conditioning was really effective and quiet. I was looking forward to breakfast and was not disappointed! The rest of the menu was also really tasty and staff were accommodating with my preferences. The pool/area is small but we didn't go to sunbathe so no problem. The Internet was high speed and always available. Whilst we were there, the area experienced a planned electricity cut at midnight, the hotel was alight with candles and guests who could not sleep were invited to the lobby for free snacks and drinks by the owner. The location of the green tiger is brilliant, within the old city walls, you can walk everywhere, or take a tuk tuk if you like. Free coffee, tea and toast is available all day. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone who reads this review, the owner gives up his time to speak to guests and his staff are a credit to him, nothing is too much trouble and they are more than helpful with all your needs. Really superb hotel!

Wonderful Ambiance!”
Thanks to Daniel and his team you can feel yourself at home in Green Tiger. The guesthouse could really reach for stars in hospitality! We got a map with a lot of recommendations for those things that we really want to see. (I am not about the usual tourist sites) the atmosphere is so balanced in the house. rooms are clean and quiet, with very comfortable beds. Breakfast is more than enough, the owner pays attention to the good quality of food. If you would like to have a dinner, it is also delicious. If you are fed up with thai spices, order a noodle soup in Green Tiger, it is a medicine for everything;) If we travel to Chiang Mai next time, we will definitely stay in Green Tiger, nowhere else!

An amazing oasis in wonderful Chiang Mai”
I originally booked in for 2 nights after staying at another hostel for a couple of nights. I ended up staying at Green Tiger House for nearly 2 weeks, that says it all! The owner Daniel, his wife, Nean and Peang on the front desk and all the other staff always had smiles on their faces and were genuinely interested in your well being. The Dorm beds were so comfortable and it was the little things that make Green Tiger stand out like the provided toiletries, and the complimentary tea, coffee and toast. I found Green Tiger an easy place to meet other like minded people. There are lots of communal places to sit and relax and the pool and the terrace (where you can see amazing sunsets) are fantastic. The location on the North side of the old city was also great too, a short walk to the North Gate Jazz club and some amazing vegetarian restaurants. I definitely hope to return someday :-)

Amazing place. Best Hostel ever. ”
Owners and staff so warm and friendly. Felt like a family, they will do anything for you. I was ill while staying there and the owner dropped me to hospital personally and the staff offered to go to pharmacy for me. The food is really great and the complimentary tea, coffee and toast all day is really fantastic. And they make the most delicious mango jam as well! I stayed in the dorm rooms and the beds were so comfortable and bathroom/shower facilities really modern and spotlessly clean. Great location, just north of the old city and tucked away down a little lane way so really nice and quiet. Honestly I never write reviews but felt compelled to write one for Green Tiger as there is so much thought and heart gone into the place. Do yourself a favour and stay here. It will make you fall in love with Chiang Mai even more.

Best Hotel in Thailand!!”
We stayed in hotels ranging $300 a night to $50 a night and I have to say this was by far my favorite place! Not only was the staff accommodating they were very helpful in helping us with transportation and sightseeing. The breakfast was phenomenal We still talk about it 3 weeks later! The location was central but hidden enough. The rooms were comfortable and the water pressure/temperature was amazing!(something we struggled with throughout our trip) and not to mention chiang mai was our favorite location in thailand.. i would consider flying +20 hours again if i could stay at the green tiger house and hotels similiar. I cannot rave enough!!

Cosy gem in Chiang Mai with lovely staff”
This was the perfect stay before and after a 5-day trekking trip to the hills and forrests of northern Thailand. Green Tiger Vegetarian House has been in operation for less than a year - as such the furnishing in the rooms and amenities feel very new, giving the impression that the hotel's three-star rating is somewhat underrated. The beds and blankets are simply superb and the breakfast offering is amzazing. You get free coffee and tea in the lobby area and on the roof deck and the WiFi is reliable and really works. We also made use of the laundry service and it was quick and priceworthy. Locationwise it takes only about a 10 minute walk to Sunday Market Street. We would absolutely recommend the Green Tiger to any traveller looking to stay in Chiang Mai.

Quite, Comfortable, Helpful”
I moved from more of a backpacker's hostel to Green Tiger during Songkran in 2014 (a) because I had been staying at the other hostel for a week and needed a change and (b) I was planning to leave town on a Songkran day, and the Green Tiger was closer to the Northside of the center of Chiang Mai. Service was excellent. Upon my departure, one of the front desk staffers grabbed some garbage bags and helped me wrap up my backpack so I could "safely" walk towards the station without getting too soaked. It worked! When I arrived at the bus station I was soaked but my bags were not. Beds were also quite comfortable, clean; bathrooms in room were awesome and showers had all the fixins included. This is definitely one of the best bangs for your buck in Chiang Mai, and the pool is very relaxing as well.

Perfect stay im Chiang Mai”
The Green Tiger Vegetarian House was just perfect. It's is located in the old town and you can easily reach all sightseeing places. Staff and service is really good and very friendly. They give importance to every detail and the whole guesthouse is equipet very stylish. The room was really nice, very clean and big enough. There is even a great pool where you can refresh yourself after your excursions. Another highlight is the breakfast. You can choose among different dishes and all is freshly prepared. We can also recommend having dinner in the restaurant. It's very tasty. We would recommend this hotel 100% for staying in Chiang Mai.

Absolutely incredible”
I have been traveling in Thailand for three weeks now and this was by far the best place I've stayed. This guest house is brand new. The owners are the nicest people and so helpful. The rest of the staff were great as well. The rooms are well designed and the bed isvery comfortable (not your typical Thai beds). There is a really great ambience at the guest house and a nice sky bar with a view of the city. The neighborhood is nice and is centrally located near Northgate. My friends and I even took a cooking class with the owner and we were able to rent scooters right from the guesthouse. I can keep going on and on, but I'll just say that if you come to Chiang Mai you have to stay at Green Tiger.
