Amarin Samui Hotel (SHA Plus+)
Mae Nam,Chinese Temple - View on map
"upon arriving we were upgraded. our room was very spacious, had a massive bed, a tv and dvd player, cheap mini bar, very nice bathroom, the hotel changed the towels daily (and sheets if you want them too), the hotel also provided slippers and dressing gowns for the length of our stay. the pool on the roof is very nice and clean. if you are unfortunate enough to have rain during your stay (we had 3 days of it), the hotel will lend you dvds for free (or an umbrella if you're feeling up for braving the rain), and the room service is very good value (drinks and food). this hotel also has a bar (something which we found lacking in most hotels in thailand) "

Khwan Beach Resort & Luxury Glamping and Pool Villas Samui - Adults Only (SHA Plus+)
Mae Nam,Chinese Temple - View on map
"Experiencing by luck a special promotion night due occupancy, I got so lucky to spend a short stay there Everything near dream, from pick-up to check -in an amazing reception sala, kindness, caring and profesionalism of staff to the extraordinary duplex private pool villa for surely 1/3rd of a normal price of the best rated 5* around whom cannot technically compete such privacy and set up !!! Views are there very exceptional with a river along the villa, the beach 50 Meters away, the ocean and look over the Island of Koh Phangan nearby. I enjoyed an exceptional butler service as well brought at any wished time to the privacy of your villa. privacy but not surrounded as usual by walls !! No one could see me but I could enjoy the view around from the master bedroom balcony in the evening with a nice glass of wine. breakfast was brought as well at the villa on time and succulent, diner was also available to be delivered in the living room set as a dining one under request but I prefered to have a walk 300 Meters away to a nice little street of Maenam center where I could find all kinds of restaurants. I specially appreciated the expresso coffee machine and various coffees at my free disposal and the unbeliavable decorated shower half outside to enjoy the tropical weather and the sight of the coconut and mango trees around overlightened by the sky stars. Dream also completed by the cocooned atmosphere and the decoration set as being the only Gallery hotel in Thailand together with the amazing swimming pool multicoloured from the evening through the night by rotating lightening spots Inside !!! For sure any guest like me will definitely come back many times, I recommand especially for couples and of course honeymooners for a one life time experience "

Everest Resort Koh Samui
Mae Nam,Chinese Temple - View on map
"The resort is located at the most beautifuly natural and clean Maenam beach (palms all around, wide and long sandy beach, crystal water, resorts are at the beach, but you can hardly seen them behind the palms and they organicly flows inside the palms, that was big pluss compere to other beaches.)Everest resort is located about 3 min walk from the beach, in calm, green, nise and quiet street, were is everything that you need: shops, restaurants, even washing machine. I was really glad that I booked this place, on this cozy street, it was like paradise after Bangkok noise. The owner is great, polite, provide all the information that we needed and even made a exellent tour around the island, much cheaper than the tour companies, so we saw the other places in island, other beaches in Koh Samui and this place and this beach I liked the best. Santiburi Koh Samui (SHA Extra Plus)
Mae Nam,Chinese Temple - View on map
"We have stayed at all the 5 Star resort on Koh Samui and this is one of the best by far. The resort is older but extremely well kept and the staff, some have been there for many years are excellent. The swimming pool is huge and there is a very nice kids pool. The bungalow/villa style accommodation is spacious and very comfortable and has everything you need. The breakfast is excellent and there is a good selection to keep just about everyone happy. Maenam beach is one of the good ones. It's North facing which means it face Koh Phangan which is nice to look over at. It's one of the few beaches on Samui you can run down the sand and dive into the water without hitting coral or rocks. This is a very large piece of flat land and great for kids of all ages. The gym is good, open from 6.00 am which is handy. It has everything you need for a workout, there are two tennis courts, one grass. My only gripe is the cost of the food. This is an expensive place to eat in. The beach cafe and the restaurants are all expensive. We live on Samui and eat everywhere and Santaburi although we love it, the food is definitely overpriced. Don't get me wrong the quality is excellent but it is pricey by ANY standards, especially 5 star Thai. We did eat in a few times but there are so many good places close by we recommend you eat elsewhere."

The Cosy Beach Resort
Mae Nam,Chinese Temple - View on map
"We stayed 8 nights at Hacienda and booked the beachfront bungalow. All in all we enjoyed our stay and recommend Hacienda to travellers. Anyhow, there are a few things to consider for guests and maybe the management. Location: awesome location literally on the beach. Plenty of restaurants and bars, supermarkets, laundry, car/moto rental close by. Sun beds and towels provided, swim gear for rent and outdoor shower. Accomodation: beachfront bungalows are the closest to the sea one can get. Garden bungalows got mixed reviews though. Standard design, space is quite limited especially as we put a baby cot too (provided by Hacienda). Bathroom basic but totally fine. Our bungalow was ok clean and decent, nothing extra ordinary though. Restaurant: decent international menue (French, Italian, Thai), food was tasty but a bit pricy. Opening hours are a bit odd - opens at 8am and closes at 5pm - even the bar closes at 7pm. Breakfast (ours was included) starts at 8am only (I mean, they really just start boiling water etc at 8, so first breakfasts are served around 8:30) which was challenging with a baby. The complimentary breakfasts are nothing special, continental with bread and jam, Thai breakfast to chose from. Chicken rice soup made a good breakfast for our baby, the baguette was really good. Service: I voted 3 stars for the service only. Here I have to differentiate between the housekeeping (all fine, friendly and supportive), the waitresses and reception and the manager. We were quite irritated by the tough talk of the manager and his not-showing interest in guests staying there longer. Besides us, mainly French, elder couples stayed there, and he only chatted with his French friends who came for lunch often. What really disturbed us (thus the 3 stars), were the waitresses who gave harsh answers to small requests ("could you please give us the tea bags/jam/cup" etc as usually they would forget one thing at least, we several times got a harsh "I'm alone and very busy, yo"

Moonhut Bungalows
Mae Nam,Chinese Temple - View on map
"If you are looking for a place with a nice quiet beach away from the crowd, with alcohol at reasonable prices and delicious local food, this is your place. I stayed here for 8 nights and it has everything anybody could possibly want at its disposal. This place offers beachfront chalets, with a maximum walk of 60 seconds to get to the sea. The restaurant and bar area is also a very short walk from the chalets. I stayed in the standard fan room and found it comfortable, with a few nights being very warm and sticky. If you aren't used to the local temperatures, you should definitely get the air con room. Finally, if you like playing pool, Moonhut also offers a free pool table to use all day. The food served at Moonhut is more expensive than the food that can be found at street restaurants, but the food you order is always very good. My family tried several dishes on their menu and we were all impressed. Their Thai food is also very substantial and very flavoursome. If you are looking to venture outside of the accommodation, there are some very good restaurants nearby. I'll name but a few of my favourite restaurants - Chef Restaurant (Near fisherman's village), K-Siri (also near the fisherman's village), and @SamuiRestaurant. The final recommendation actually can't be found on the map, but it is almost opposite the Austrian Corner restaurant. There is one thing I do believe is a disadvantage for sunbathers - there is only a few sunbeds, and at a busy period, they are likely to be snapped up very quickly. They have three sunshades which are very nice to relax in, but you have to lay on the sand, which has a slope down to the water and can be a bit annoying. They also do not provide any umbrellas for the sun beds, so if you want shade, you will have to physically move into the shade. Overall, I would say this place is a very good choice. If you plan to eat at Moonhut every night, then bring your full wallets. The location is good and the food is very nice. Also, if y"

"Nice place, nice room, good location, very comfortable bed, very clean. There is everything you need for good staying in the hotel. Russian lady began to run this hotel from the beginning of March and do all the best for customers. The hotel is on the main road and I used earplugs during the night, which is given complimentary by hostess. Morning market is 2 steps away and it is amazing. "

Palm Point Village

"I cannot stress enough how beautiful this collection of bungalows is. The location is right on the beach and oh what a view it is! The family that run it are lovely and will do anything to help you, there is always some around too! You can have a massage on their wooden veranda over looking the turquoise waters of samui. Absolute bliss. The value for money is amazing, it's the upmost luxury at half the price. I'm 23 and that is really saying something! I had an air conditioned one bedroom bungalow with living room all to myself for 397 Chinese Yuan which is approximately 40 GBP...it would have been cheaper if it weren't for the service charge, hotel tax and city tax...whatever that is I don't know. I'd book via somewhere else but I wanted this hotel and it was the only sight it was still available through. Very, very highly recommended. "

Ampha Place Hotel

"the hotel is located along the quieter mae nam coast, just between the main ring road & miskawaan resort. the beach is only a 1min walk away via miskawaan or the moonhut bungalows down the road to the right as you leave. it was a quiet week when i was there (only 3 room of the 12 rooms were occupied on my last night), so i had the pool to myself & the only noise was from the geckos & crickets. i was made to feel very welcome as soon as i arrived. i emailed in advance to book a taxi to pick me up from the airport (400thb/20min. my suitcase had missed my flight , so i had to stay in the first evening waiting for it to be brought from the airport. when it hadn't arrived by the scheduled time, the lovely staff member (never got her name) offered to ring the airport for me to chase it up. the room was very clean and a good size - great value for money. it had a decent-sized bathroom, balcony (with chairs/table/rack to dry clothes), tv (no need for it on this beautiful island however!), combination safe (big enough to fit a netbook), wardrobe (with coathangers), several power points (for charging phones, cameras, netbooks etc), excellent air-con & minibar (with 2 free bottles of water per day - cans of softdrink are only 25thb). the room was cleaned straight away each day once i left & the bed was very comfortable. the hotel has free wifi too which works in the rooms and by the pool - i had no issues with it the whole week. i had 2 breakfasts & a lunch in the dining area by the pool (breakfast is from 8am but thai food is only served from 11am so you need to eat european style before that). the meals were served quicky & were a good portion size - i recommend the beef panang curry. the owner ampha (pronounced without the h ie 'am-pa') is always around & likes to chat which is great. she & all her staff are lovely & i chatted to them each day about what i was up to. this is a great place, hidden away, not listed on uk hotel search engines & i thoroughly recommend it.
