Sri Samui is a very small hotel, with 8 rooms total - but there’s still a very nice on-site receptionist who will check you in and answer any questions. It’s clean, quiet, modern and very close to the ferry pier in Nathon Beach (Koh Samui West Side). I spent one night on my way off the island and was grateful to watch a gorgeous sunset, eat street food at the Night Market and hang out with local Thai people in a town that sees very few tourists after sunset. It was a bittersweet taste of the real Koh Samui, before over-development. If you want to taste something amazing, order the Pork Spicy Soup at the restaurant (without English translation) adjacent to the entrance path. The hotel itself is set back, in a secluded little nook, off the main beach road. Thank you, Sri Samui!

Jinta City is one of three Jinta hotels - two on Samui, and one in Phuket, and it is quite professionally run. We checked in a day early, and they were able to sort us out with a room for the two nights of our stay. Our room was a bit dated and basic, but had everything we needed for one night - decent shower, fridge, TV (not great reception though), and an air-con that worked passably well. There is free wifi throughout the complex, but it didn't always work in our room - we had to venture a bit closer to reception to get it sometimes. There is a reasonable pool to refresh yourself in, from which you can see the beach, and the gardens are tidy, with many tables and chairs here and there, and rubbish baskets handy. There are a number of restaurants all along the beachfront, and there are market foodstalls at the pier on Saturday nights. The 7-11 is less than 5 minutes away, and there are numerous other shops and restaurants one street back. Tesco is about a ten minute walk away, towards the pier but one street back from the beachfront. We noticed that there are fancier, newer (and probably dearer) bungalows at the front of the complex, including one which has windows facing the ocean - check these out, as they looked quite good. A fine place to stay before those early morning ferry departures.

We stayed at the Humble Villas for one night as part of our honeymoon and wished we could stay longer. The staff organised a yummy cheesecake as a honeymoon gift and had beautiful swans decorating our bed. The private plunge pool was a real highlight and the super comfy bed. The sunset view from our pool and the restaurant was one of the best I have ever seen. We left Koh Samui by ferry from the Nathon pier so the location of the Humble Villas was perfect for us and very close to the pier.
