We stayed at KSL Resort Hotel from 30/8/2012 till 4/9/2012 via agoda.com. As soon as we touched down our foot outside the lobby area, one of the concierges (Malay boy) approached us, greeted us and helped us all the way till we reached our room. We had a good conversation along the way and yes, it was a good start, indeed. Location-wise: Shopping Mall is just beneath our hotel with lots of shops available and the anchor shop is TESCO where you can buy all goods with lots of varieties. Holiday Plaza is visible from KSL which is around 5 minutes walk. Buses from KSL to JB Sentral (City) are easy accessible outside the lobby and it only costs us RM$1.50 one way but if you wish to use taxi, it only costs RM$6.90 one way. Dining Experience: The buffet breakfast was outstanding with great variety and unique and the most delicious dish that intrigued me the most was the lamb curry + Nasi Lemak sambal (Local dishes). A MUST try meal. However, the first night we had our dinner there, we were asked to order from the ala carte menus which was fine. But, we had to wait an hour for our foods (3 out of 4 dishes) to arrive (with no other customers dine-in at that time), again it was fine. Then, I saw one of the waiters went forth and back into the kitchen and eventually came to me informing that their chef has made an error when cooking my simple chicken rice so they persuaded me to choose another food. I gave up since it was almost mid-night as I needed a good night rest. In order to cover up my hunger, I shared food with my nephew’s infusion smoked burger (One of the best, thick and juicy burger stuffed with unique ingredients).

Last minute, no-fuss booking at a bargain price, over a long holiday weekend, was made possible with Agoda.com. Other sites offered prices 50% more than what Agoda.com offered. Very attentive and helpful staff during midnight check-in. Clean room and facilities. Hot water shower facility and a bathtub. Basic toiletries with 2 freshly laundered bath towels, 2 hand towels and floor towel mats were provided. Double bed not available for non-smoking room. However two large single beds, each able to accommodate 2 average size adults, was more than adequate & comfortable. This hotel has seen much better days as a premier hotel in Johor Bahru. Late check-out at 2pm. was offered upon request. If you are driving, covered FREE parking is available for hotel guests. At a bargain offer of RM153 per night, I recommend The Puteri Pacific Hotel in Johor Bahru. It may have seen glorious days in the past but its 5 star charm, hospitality and comfort is evident & welcomes the weary traveller.

the exterior itself shows that this hotel is relatively new compared to nearby hotels. it's location is very accessible(within walking distance) to ksl city, plaza pelangi and holiday plaza. friendly staff all over the place and facilities are updated. 3adults were staying in one room for my stay and everyone feels comfortable with the room size. single sized bed provided is big enough for two to sleep on. so the 3rd bed added was redundant. lastly, great city view from the room. highly recommended!

Location was near City Square so shopping and dining was no issue. Within walking distance to many eateries as well. If you prefer to take a bus instead of Taxi to places like KSL and Holiday Plaza, you can easily walk to JB Sentral Bus Terminal and hop on to a bus from there. Generally satisfied with the stay except that our window was all splattered with dirt on the outside probably from renovation or construction works in the area.

new york hotel is always my first choice hotel whenever i stay in jb. it is situated in a convenient location, where there is food on the entire stretch of road. it is also a mere 5 mins taxi ride to ksl city, holiday plaza and taman sentosa. room size is good and clean. however, it would be even better if new york hotel can change their existing crt tv sets to lcd/led tv sets. the signal strength of the tv channels should be enhance as well. bed is comfortable and air condition is working fine. i would return to stay on my next trip to jb.

We were in Thistle Johor from 11/12-13/12/12, a family of four on a holiday. I have been to Johor Bharu a couple of times and stayed in various dubious ranked 5 star hotels. Without much expectation, I booked Thistle Hotel, being one of the few hotels that we had not stayed. A few comments to make: Ambience: A wonderful ambience for a hotel. It was amazing to note that there were very few hotel staff seen in public but the hotel was run efficiently like clockwork. Hence staff were not intruding into our privacy. The balance of the hotel staff to guests ratio was just perfect. Everything seems to work efficiently without being overcrowded with hotel staffs. Hotel staffs: Very robotic and mechanical but efficient. However it did not matter. What was lacking with the staff was more than made up by the Hotel itself. The product offered by the hotel was very good, so they was no need for unncecessary and forced courtesy. Overall Impression: This is how a hotel should be run. Offering a very good product, with minimum inteference from staff. Guests are "at home" in the hotel. That is the way a hotel should be. A good place to rest and rejuvenate and Thistle is the place to be in Johor. Will definately come back and be the only place to stay in Johor. Keep Thistle as it is - the balance is perfect.

checked in with my family to the deluxe room. they're newly renovated. everything is clean and comfortable. hotel is walking distance to ksl shopping mall and holiday plaza. holiday plaza is very rundown but ksl is sparking new since they just opened. there are lots of food around ksl and the hotel. very affordable and good food. highly recommended is ho seng kee which is wanton noodles cooked by an old man. it is very very good. they're open till 2.30pm and closed on tues. the shop faces caltex petrol station which is near holiday plaza. there are free parking for hotel guests. it is an open spaced carpark right in front of the hotel. loved this hotel location and would like to come back again.

The decision to stay at Double Tree for the Chinese New Year Holiday is never a regret . Firstly , we were greeted by the warm and friendly concierge (Mr Hafizi) and the receptionist were very kind and helpful to arrange the 3 suites that we booked , all in the same floor. That makes it easier for us, with children and elder parents, to manage our outing schedules with less waiting time. During check-in, we were served with warm chocolate chip cookies - our children really enjoyed it. The check-in was fast , rooms were very cosy and clean, the view was magnificent (city and sea view!) and our luggage were delivered fast. We rarely come across hotel that give guests selection of pillows. I must say that the breakfast spread in the hotel is the best the Southern region. There are wide range of locals and western food to choose (and very tasty too!) The stay in Double definitely creates meaningful moments that’ll make our family feel special. Kudos to the team in Double Tree Johor!

I've seen all these reviews and i'm thinking ,i don't know is it i have low expectation or people have too high expectation . It's not bad for a 3 star hotel . We booked the superior queen room and i tell you it's actually quite big to our surprise. There was even a sofa bed so this room can definitely have 3 people . The cleanliness was good, nothing bothered me except that the toilet floor still had soap when we came in . The staff were very cooperative, very easy to communicate with. We actually went to the wrong hotel initially. Just mind you this hotel is located behind Grand Bluewave hotel , not infront at City Sq . (incase anybody made the same mistake as us hehe) And there's no view (it's facing other building) so don't book if view is really an impt factor for you. Overall i rate it 7/10 :)

Stayed for a night in their one bedroom, it was beyond my expectation and far best stay so far in Johor Bahru. Apartment is newly opened. The parking was quite safe and I can assure that - especially for Singaporeans who have second thoughts on parking their motorbikes in Johor Bahru. The security guards were very attentive, seen them doing round checks in the premises. The check in was swift and the rooms are really clean and comfortable. Check in time was at 3pm but we checked in way earlier around 2pm. Was issued a room key however it was not really ready when we were outside our room. Waited for 10 minutes to be in the room but it is fine for me. Location is good for solo travellers too as the hotel was just a walking distance to Komtar JBCC and City Square. There’s 7-11 convenient store just right at the hotel lobby in case you need to get something urgently. Now, the cons about the apartment was the parking you have to pay on your own. (It comes with a price I guess) And the major turn off - their housekeeper was very rude. Knocked the door several times at 10:45AM to tell us to check out when we clearly knew the check out time was 12PM. Leave that alone, the housekeeper repeatedly knocked the door again at 12PM SHARP. How intense was that. I dont remember requesting the front desk to get someone for my wake up call. She was also rude when we asked the other housekeeper to confirm the check out time. She gave us her unpleasant death stare and walked away when the other housekeeper was apologizing on her behalf. Very rude and unprofessional. I hope the management can look into this matter. Other than that, theres nothing much to point out. Will still give the 5 star rating!

There is an E&Y indian muslim restaurant about 5minutes walk, and 7-11 next to hotel. Quiet surrounding area at night. Recommended stay for moveable travelers.

This was my first time staying at this hotel in Johore Baru with 9 other family members from 6 ~ 10 February 2016, and it was a wonderful experience! Not only Belllo Hotel among many other budget hotels in close proximity, it is impressively new, clean, comfortable, great and convenient location with 7/11 next door, 24-hour food shops, shopping malls and checkpoint all within short walking distance; our 2016 CNY stay was perfected by the great team led by the Operation Manager, Mr. Kartikh Balakrishnan. Apart from the aforesaid tangible aspects, customer services and expectations are more important to excite our holiday moods and to make our stay exceptionally memorable and unforgettable! It is worth to mention that, it was terrible to call for taxi during the CNY. When Mr. Kartikh managed to secured three taxi to fetch us to our CNY eve reunion dinner, at last, the taxi driver broke his promise without informing the hotel and had phone shut off! Frankly, I would never expect a hotel manager would proactively fetching us using his own personal car to and from restaurants with multiple trips! He even firmly declined to accept our token of appreciation in lieu of the taxi fare we are supposed to pay! Caring, attentive and thoughtful customer service are what spice up our recent stay that are suffice to cover up other shortfalls if any. I would have no hesitation to return to this hotel again and would definitely recommend Belllo Hotel to all holiday-goers going to Johore Baru. I am quite familiar with the estate where the hotel is in but had never wanted to stay in it. But my opinion has changed completely. Despite the 1990s facade and seemingly off-site location, the interior is very premium and the room is very clean, outperforming it's status as a 4 star hotel. The room is plush, and huge. The bathroom came with a clean large bathtub, and a powerful shower with hot water in good supply. Some flaking of the chrome piece on the bathtub knob is seen but not disturbing. Otherwise, it's in a very good condition. It even comes with a rubber headrest for relaxing in the tub. WiFi is strong although I wished the aircon could cope better with the large room. From my high nonsmoking floor, I realized how near it is to walk to the nearby ksl mall and holiday plaza. The hotel is also 15 mins walk to the pelangi plaza, which is the only area you can find early morning supper nearby. For 15 mins walk, you can also walk to the nearby sri tebrau food centre. The location is very good. The swimming pool was a let down. It's very small and you have to walk through the conference rooms floor in swimming trunks, and then down a dark stairway to get to it. There is no one giving out pool towels too. Overall, a very good stay for the location, comfort and price.

Stayed one night whilst visiting JB. I am a seasoned traveller, always going for quality but at the same time not breaking the bank to have it. For the money I paid, this was excellent. Clean rooms, excellent rain shower bathroom, friendly and diligent staff. Best of all, really nice coffee at breakfast along with the standard nasi lemak and other western food like sausage and halal hams (only in Malaysia). Would stay here again if the price doesn't change. Would rate it excellent 3 star hotel or a decent 4 stars.

I was greeted with a warm welcome at lobby with porter taking my luggage. Front desk staff were polite and friendly. They upgraded me to a suite due to deluxe room not ready for early check in. They allowed me early check in since I was traveling direct from KLIA. My room was amazing! Full amenities with 5 stars. There was in dining 20% vouchers for f&B and survey forms. There was no snacks at minibar so I requested to put some there. They sent it up COMPLIMENTARY! The porter gave me advice on good food in the hotel and outside the nearby shops. My flight was at 4pm and they allowed me late check out once I showed my tickets. That was also complimentary. They even gave me 10% Starbucks voucher to enjoy next door at Starbucks while waiting for my limo. The duty manager was very helpful but his team of staffs were even more helpful. From the security guards to the housekeeping staffs, to the porter and front desk staffs! Super location -so cheap to take a cab to town. Best hotel ever

Our 2nd visit here. Fairly new and nicely decorated hotel with lift to hotel room, and friendly reception. Good walking distance from city square 5-7mins, including one short stretch of stairs. Room is comfortably sized with large nice bed. Sheets are clean, housekeeping is acceptable, facilities are basic and includes mini fridge, bottled water, clothes hanger, clear towels, basic toiletries and hair dryer (by request). Nice and basic interior deco with shophouse windows and semi-blackout curtains. Bathroom with exhaust was good. Overall great great stay. Only consideration would be sound insulation -was not the best, nearby construction noise could be problem for light sleeper. For perfection, consider better toiletries, more tv channels and hot water for late night supper!

the hotel has a wonderful set up and awesome interior deco. rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. free wifi is also available to enhance the stay. it is conveniently located near ksl /holiday plaza and only a short distance away from city square, hence making it a prime choice. have to commend on the excellent customer service provided by rani. she made us feel really welcomed! overall, had an awesome stay and looking forward to staying again on my next weekend getaway!

The hotel is located in a newer area of the city centre, separated from the dodgy, shady and dirty city areas (eg jln Wong Ah Fook, Jln True) but still near enough to be within walking distance from JB Sentral- it’s very safe & comfortable to walk as there is a elevated and sheltered walkway that takes you directly to the front of the premise. Location is very ideal. The whole place is presentable, brightly lit and comfortable to be in. The room I was assigned is clean, spacious and airy. The rooftop breakfast area was very nice as well. Reception was great, check-in/ out was done swimmingly. For those of you with a budget under MYR200, this is probably the best place to stay. I am very pleased so will therefore recommend this place highly.

In my previous review of the same trip I mentioned some info is missing from agoda when I booked but a phone call tobthe hotel cleared my doubts. For the benefit of others, Hotel CIQ Johor Baharu hotel rooms are like this: Standard - single bed Superior - double bed Deluxe - one single bed one double bed Family room - two double beds Booked one superior and one deluxe room as the family room was fully booked as it was the year end school holidays. Rooms were clean. Newly renovated. Lift/elevator was new and uses touch screen buttons. Confortable pillows and mattress. Toiletries bare minimal and only 200/250ml of water in a sealed cup provided. Bring your own hair dryer and toothpaste/toothbrush but there are at least 3 sundry/convenience stores nearby and on either sides of the hotel like a few steps away selling all yr necessities and bread, snacks etc. A stone's throw from restaurants, Chinese or Muslim food available at nearby restaurant/shops. In room internet erratic. Fast enough but my devices kept getting disconnected. Overall value for money for the size.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and booked for a family room. The room was very clean. This family room doesn’t have any windows, so you might need to inform them earlier if you need a room with windows. Staffs are so nice and helpful. There was even a ‘mini grocery store’ at the lobby - which my kids love it! It is one of the best value hotel i have stayed. Thank you 😁

I spent 30 (thirty) days at this hotel and I felt like home. Very polite and helpfull staff. Taking a taxi is a matter of walking about 100m to a main road and wait for no longer than three minutes and a free taxi will drive by :). About 4-500 m is Danga City Mall with UO store. The KSL bus has a stop next to the mall and costs one MYR to CIQ and JB Sentral. Taxi cost less than 10 MYR. The hotel was refurbished and has new tiles in the rooms and bathrooms which is very clean. After nine days at Grand Bluewave Hotel ***** (ultra noisy air conditioner and neighbour rooms with direct view at me in bed) and 31 days at Berjaya Waterfront **** (changed four times the room due to no hot water or air conditioned) I found Golden Court the best value for money by far. The included breakfast is very handy.

great place to get away from town, yet easily accessible with paid shuttle bus to jb icq. very good international spread, seldom found in malaysia hotel. next to a ksl city shopping mall and opposite is the aging holiday plaza. lots of eateries. so, eat and eat. negative : 1) near to ktvs and discotech, booming away at night to wee hours. can be heard in the quite bedroom. boom you to sleep.

Location-not my first time in this location as it is near the CIQ to Singapore but without car park. Therefore only suitable for flight travellers via SIN or JHB airports or bus. Those who drive from other parts of Malaysia, sorry no parking. Eats-just around the corner is Meldrum Walk, if you do not fancy hawker food, City Square Mall is just nearby where you can get higher end food. BEWARE-there are some vice activities and prostitutes may be hanging out outside the hotel, but as long as you avoid them it should be ok. Staff-There was one elderly Indian man-Senior staff? Very courteous and professional as a hotel staff. Facilities-very good, booked the room with window and it was big and spacious for one person. Facilities-TV Channel. Fox Movies...Wowww, this is one reason that I wish I could stay longer and more in my room. The availability of movies means you have your own private cinema from the bed. Quite hard for a business traveller like me to leave the room though xD

A good hotel at an excellent location. Centrally located. Quiet location except for the occasional locomotive sound. Grab fare roughly: Larkin Sentral RM8. UTC JB RM8.00 JB Sentral RM7.00 KSL Resort RM8.00 For the hotel rate you pay, this hotel is very good. Hot water shower, toothbrush, coffee making facility, LCD TV and dressing/writing table. Best rate will be when you book through Agoda. Beautiful stay.

My favourite JB hotel, without any hestitation. Whenever i need a cheap and convenient hotel while waiting for the Causeway car queue to lessen, it is always Meldrum. I covered extensively before in the previous reviews, it is conveniently located near the Immigration and major shopping centre (City Sq). Hawker and street food is everywhere when you stepped out from the hotel. Famous food include: The Kam Long Curry Fish Head (walking distance), Ya Wang duck rice (don't order the duck rice for 1 person. Try their herb marinated duck, which is at least half a duck). Weighing the cons, the room rate is still one of the cheapest in JB. No question. Room is spacious but dont expect a hotel feel. It's more of a low to mid end Airb&b room rental. But if you want a real hotel, visit KSL or Holiday Villa. They are more appropriate for family trip where comfort is high on your list. Meldrum is good for a short stay (1 or 2 days) and when you are alone and not picky with facilities.
