Pro Got free upgrade to superior triple. Free fast WIFI. New hotel. Value for money at nett RM/night for a above 4 star but lower than 5 star hotel. What's the difference with a 5-star hotel?. (i) Well it has a cotton pillow instead of a feather pillow. (ii) There is no bathtub but it does have a great rain shower with strong water pressure. (iii) Thick carpets but not as thick as a 5-star hotel. (iv) Bed and bed linens however are as good as a 5-star hotel bed. (v) Bed linens however can be a bit more softer/smoother. However this might be pushing it as not may 5-start hotels bed linens are very smooth. (vi) Bathroom not as big as that of a 5-star hotel. (vii) Don't like the water closet as it does not have a hand bidet. (ix) Great family swimming pool. (x) Good breakfast spread and delicious. Again not big enough spread for a 5-star hotel. Con (i) There is an intermitten methane-line smell in the hotel corridors. But not so irritating as it does not go into the room. (ii) A major drawback which I think the hotel would need to fix immediately is the noisy air-corn in the room. A real turn-off, especially given that its a relatively new hotel. Overall, not a 5-star hotel but a above-average 4-star hotel. Real value for money for the price.

I've stayed here many times. Big rooms. Bath tub and shower. This is an older hotel, so you can expect some minor issues like old carpet and some wear on the furniture. The hot water can take a while to build up in the shower but when it does rotate the shower head for a great pulse massage. The beds are comfortable. Internet is really bad and open connection, I could not even establish my VPN connection. If staying from overseas get a Malaysian sim card and data plan and run your own internet from the smartphone, problem solved. With your sim you can download grab (uber) app and gain cheap fares. as taxis from the hotel are metered but the Johor taxi mafia will try to rip you off returning to the hotel. Don't forget to add the breakfast to your booking as it is great for western and eastern food. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for best location and value for money. Back soon....

It was an impromptu holiday so we had to check a hotel that is value for money, location and the facilities.. Unlike other negative comments we read before booking the hotel, we experienced otherwise.. We booked Junior Suit, it was on 25th level. We laaa-love the view it has. The space was too much for us... (well if you want have "catching game" with your partner, you may do so.. =) it was pretty near KSL, so if you are bored looking at the view, you can go out and chill at KSL.. Things to take note of, when checking in, you have to give 100RM deposit.. yes it is refundable.. We also tried their swimming pool located at level 11.. if you are photo addict, you can stay there the whole time and do burst shot.. the place gives you a "Instant Instagram View"... Oh! I guess its worth getting their breakfast.. We will be back again for sure! Shasha and myself really enjoyed our stay..

On my trip to jb, initally stayed at another hotel, but due to it having alot of problems, decided to cancel and stay in holiday villa instead. I must say that the hotel's staff is simply superb. Very friendly and attentive. Especially those that are working at the front door, always greeting you and being very attentive and helpful. One of the best i have seen. The rooms were heavenly. So spacious and beautiful. You could see that care and attention was given to designing and building the room. From the marble floors in the toilet. To the wallpaper, and even the walls and beds. The best thing is that the toilet has an automatic blinder which could be rolled up or down at the flick of a button. Next is the breakfast. If you are worried about variety then this is the best place to be. The food were plentiful and staff were really hardworking. A really awesome breakfast to start your day The only negative thing i can comment is that, when i booked the hotel room, i specifically requested a king size bed in a non smoking room. But they ended up giving me a smoking room with two small double beds. The direct opposite of what I requested. Had to stay in this room for the few days of my visit without having the option to change room. Wish they could have done something about this. Overall I give this hotel a strong 9.5 /10. Nearing perfection

It was a pleasent stay, good deco, courteouse staff, comfortable bed, relaxing enviroment. Location wise it is great, with all the great choise of food selectiom within walking distance of the hotel. Because of the location, traffic is hectic most if the time, so its best to take "Grab" out from Amari and meet your friend somewhere else, because it may take longer time for your frend to come pick you up with the hectic traffic. The pool view room window is way too close for comfort with the opposite apartment, literary can see into each others room clearly. The in room safe is not mounted down to something, and its lightweight enough for a teenager to just pick up the safe. For a 5 star hotel, these can be improve upon. The toilet mini soap holder and cup is the transpatent plastic type, which agian; for a 5 star hotel seems kinda odd. Pool is kinda small but nice, because its not always pack; so one can enjoy by the pool side relaxing. Overall, i would recommend to stay here for friends and relative. Above mention just play to personal prefferenfe and impression. For location, price, and reknown wise; Amari JB is a choise to look at for lodging in JB.

the location is easy access by car,bus and taxi.this hotel is very near plaza pelangi and ksl.lobby is so so but the room is superb.the room is quite big for 2 people and beautiful design and decorations like sofa and working table.the bathroom is nice and with bathtub.breakfast is excellent and many choices.this hotel is one of the best in johor bahru and this is just 3 stars hotel but look like 4 stars hotel.but the swimming pool is indoor,cold and does not look clear.but gym and sauna is basic but it is good enough.

A lot of people misunderstood the hotel star rating. Hotel star rating just base on what amenity is offered by the hotel. Meaning as long as the hotel offer these amenities it still count as part of their stars. Mutiara is no doubt a 5star hotel, it have all the 5star requirement box ticked, starting with their 24hr front desk and room service. I must say their staffs are very efficient. The check-in is smooth and quick. Later, I call for them to bring us extra towels and bathrobe, which they did promptly. On our second night I ask them if we can loan a wine opener and few minutes later their staff came and even help us open our wine. The room itself is a bit small compared to other 5star hotel in Malaysia but it is clean, well equipped and cozy. The bed is comfortable with a lot of soft pillows. We had a good sleep at night. No noise at all and the temperature control are good. They have a full mini bar although its not complimentary and the price is 5 time more expensive. We got a room on the fourth floor facing the housing area. Not much of a view. The bathroom got a complete set of towels and accessories although bath and shower are not separated. Although Mutiara have a fine selection of restaurant, we only have the time to try Capri, their Italian café and we had a very nice dinner here. As for surrounding area, its next to Holiday Plaza and walking distance to KSL City. Theres also a very nice day spa right across the hotel. Overall mutiara for me is a bit old, but still the best hotel in JB. Two thumps up.

My partner and I had a truly great experience at the hotel. The service staff, from front desk to housekeeping, exhibited exemplary five star service. Having stayed in many hotels in JB I can say with great certainty that doubletree is setting new standards for the hospitality industry in JB. I hope this hotel doesn't suffer the same fate as the other hotels in JB that will eventually lapse and diminish in service and upkeep over time. But for now, I have high hopes for this establishment. The only flaw I can think of is how the housekeeping missed out on replenishing tissues in my bathroom. Other than that I want to highlight that the front door team is impeccable in their dedication the work. They are the warmest group among all the departments, ready to offer help and directions. The public bathrooms on the ground floor were also easily one of the best bathrooms in JB, smelling of essential oils and sparklingly clean.

I've seen all these reviews and i'm thinking ,i don't know is it i have low expectation or people have too high expectation . It's not bad for a 3 star hotel . We booked the superior queen room and i tell you it's actually quite big to our surprise. There was even a sofa bed so this room can definitely have 3 people . The cleanliness was good, nothing bothered me except that the toilet floor still had soap when we came in . The staff were very cooperative, very easy to communicate with. We actually went to the wrong hotel initially. Just mind you this hotel is located behind Grand Bluewave hotel , not infront at City Sq . (incase anybody made the same mistake as us hehe) And there's no view (it's facing other building) so don't book if view is really an impt factor for you. Overall i rate it 7/10 :)

Stayed for a night in their one bedroom, it was beyond my expectation and far best stay so far in Johor Bahru. Apartment is newly opened. The parking was quite safe and I can assure that - especially for Singaporeans who have second thoughts on parking their motorbikes in Johor Bahru. The security guards were very attentive, seen them doing round checks in the premises. The check in was swift and the rooms are really clean and comfortable. Check in time was at 3pm but we checked in way earlier around 2pm. Was issued a room key however it was not really ready when we were outside our room. Waited for 10 minutes to be in the room but it is fine for me. Location is good for solo travellers too as the hotel was just a walking distance to Komtar JBCC and City Square. There’s 7-11 convenient store just right at the hotel lobby in case you need to get something urgently. Now, the cons about the apartment was the parking you have to pay on your own. (It comes with a price I guess) And the major turn off - their housekeeper was very rude. Knocked the door several times at 10:45AM to tell us to check out when we clearly knew the check out time was 12PM. Leave that alone, the housekeeper repeatedly knocked the door again at 12PM SHARP. How intense was that. I dont remember requesting the front desk to get someone for my wake up call. She was also rude when we asked the other housekeeper to confirm the check out time. She gave us her unpleasant death stare and walked away when the other housekeeper was apologizing on her behalf. Very rude and unprofessional. I hope the management can look into this matter. Other than that, theres nothing much to point out. Will still give the 5 star rating!

I remember when I want to book this hotel and my mom said don't trust the photo because we might get different and worse than the pictures displayed. But little did we know that the hotel is actually pretty good. The room is spacious, very clean, nice view, friendly staff and the room smells so good when we enter. You can park your car outside the hotel with a guard on the watch. Also there is 7-11 store beside the hotel in case you wanna grab anything in the middle of the night. I will definitely come back here when I visit JB.

Celebrated our anniversary there! My girlfriend loves the surprise unexpectedly planned by Belllo team. I could say, you can't even get this kind of standard at other 3-star rated hotel. I only managed to check-in at night, the staff(forgot to see the name) really has good attitude and provide awesome service. Not all the staffs there has that kind of good attitude thou. We gotten the 4th floor. Our room is good and clean! No issue with the bed. Some noises can be heard when people are shutting doors or whats not. But seriously, is a norm for 3-stars or below hotels. Hope that they can maintain all these in the future. There is security during the night, food eateries everywhere. Loads of cafes and traditional food right opposite towards Trus. Except that they are having construction which blocked the whole row.. so have to actually walked a longer way. For lazy people like us, every essential needs are just few steps away from hotel entrance. Even when you are hungry at night, no worries. You will be able to find food! The best gratitude I could give this hotel is that i will definitely be back again. Just hoping that they won't put up their price too high. Tried these during their opening promotion.

okay, let's try to do this by the segments: The room i booked was one of the best rooms: a superior deluxe room they featured in photos. it is on the highest floor (for rooms) with a decent city view: my window was facing the food court in city sq. Location:- you can see the hotel's prominent logo from the causeway on the bus & crossing the overhead bridge towards city square from the customs. its hard not to find the hotel. Check in was painless hotel staff were professional & friendly even by western standards. I reached shortly after 2pm and was already in the shower by 2.07 pm. my room came with tea & coffee facilities (essentially a electronic teapot & instant coffee) & a safe (this is important-we are talking about JB). Hygiene is not up to western standards but def. above m'sia expectations. in addition to another review, there are blood stains on the bed & dried mucus-like stains on the blanket (correspondingly-you can imagine how that came about). on my check-in there are also no toiletries provided. this was rectified the next day when the staff came to make-up room. i) he was very attentive - i was working in the room, he tried his best not to cause disturbance. ii) i then realised there seems to be no communication between hotel mgt & cleaning staff - they are unaware if the guest has checked-out or not. hotel should take note of this. hotel is good value for price but pricey for JB stds. puteri pacific with lousier service & older facilities is abt SGD15 more. Citrus is def. a better buy tho'. Hotel staff are are excellent by western standards. if overall service quality fall any further, it'll lose its competitive advantage. security is below std also, no cctvs on corridors & stairs (which were not locked - outsiders can come in). Hotel is def well positioned for further growth, but has to take note of current faults to be improved.

We stayed at KSL a couple of years and back and decided to try Crystal Crown due to its close proximity and relatively cheaper rates. At CC, you didn't have to fight with the crowds for check-in and and the lift. I read the reviews made by previous guests about the wifi, but wifi wasn't a problem except for a 2-hour shut out at 11pm. There were lots of routers along the corridor. The bed was good and clean, and had many pillows. The only issue I had with the hotel was the water pressure from the shower. Our rooms were on the 2nd highest floor and we booked their 2nd best available room. Since we paid only $65sgd for the room, we should not have too high an expectation. we will certainly be back.

I read one of the reviews that she booked this hotel to celebrate a birthday and requested for decorations in the room and actually got it. So my boyfriend and i were just thinking of whether we should stay for the night after doing some visitings, and we were looking for affordable yet convenient location to KSL since we would hang out there till late. And i managed to grab the last room here at 1pm on the same day. Made my request in the box during booking - requested for a birthday decoration as it would be a surprise + an anniversary staycation. You know how such special requests usually wont go through to the hotel, or maybe some hotels just dont care / bother. So i tried my luck and left a request whether i get it or not it'll just be a bonus since i already got to book the room at a steal! :) But to my surprise, i actually received an email reply from the hotel to say they have noted my requests and will get it done. I replied back and told them if they cant make it in time for my check in at 4pm, they can do it by 10pm. But by about 3pm, they replied that the decoration has already been done and i could check in anytime. I was really impressed. We walked over from KSL about 7mins walk, and upon check in i was told that the hotel actually gave us a free room upgrade. So instead of 1 queen bed, we actually got an extra single bed in the room. Which was a really nice gesture. Just nice my sis was in JB too so she came along and we had a mini birthday celebration for my bf. I would really like to thank the staffs of Hallmark Regency Hotel especially those who had replied to my emails during the course of my pre-stay and stay (cos i had other carpark questions as well). Thanks for letting us have such a memorable and wonderful stay, and at such an affordable price. I would definitely recommend my friends and come back for my future staycations in JB. :) 5 stars is definitely not enough! heh Cheers!

Stayed one night whilst visiting JB. I am a seasoned traveller, always going for quality but at the same time not breaking the bank to have it. For the money I paid, this was excellent. Clean rooms, excellent rain shower bathroom, friendly and diligent staff. Best of all, really nice coffee at breakfast along with the standard nasi lemak and other western food like sausage and halal hams (only in Malaysia). Would stay here again if the price doesn't change. Would rate it excellent 3 star hotel or a decent 4 stars.

I was greeted with a warm welcome at lobby with porter taking my luggage. Front desk staff were polite and friendly. They upgraded me to a suite due to deluxe room not ready for early check in. They allowed me early check in since I was traveling direct from KLIA. My room was amazing! Full amenities with 5 stars. There was in dining 20% vouchers for f&B and survey forms. There was no snacks at minibar so I requested to put some there. They sent it up COMPLIMENTARY! The porter gave me advice on good food in the hotel and outside the nearby shops. My flight was at 4pm and they allowed me late check out once I showed my tickets. That was also complimentary. They even gave me 10% Starbucks voucher to enjoy next door at Starbucks while waiting for my limo. The duty manager was very helpful but his team of staffs were even more helpful. From the security guards to the housekeeping staffs, to the porter and front desk staffs! Super location -so cheap to take a cab to town. Best hotel ever

Our 2nd visit here. Fairly new and nicely decorated hotel with lift to hotel room, and friendly reception. Good walking distance from city square 5-7mins, including one short stretch of stairs. Room is comfortably sized with large nice bed. Sheets are clean, housekeeping is acceptable, facilities are basic and includes mini fridge, bottled water, clothes hanger, clear towels, basic toiletries and hair dryer (by request). Nice and basic interior deco with shophouse windows and semi-blackout curtains. Bathroom with exhaust was good. Overall great great stay. Only consideration would be sound insulation -was not the best, nearby construction noise could be problem for light sleeper. For perfection, consider better toiletries, more tv channels and hot water for late night supper!

In my previous review of the same trip I mentioned some info is missing from agoda when I booked but a phone call tobthe hotel cleared my doubts. For the benefit of others, Hotel CIQ Johor Baharu hotel rooms are like this: Standard - single bed Superior - double bed Deluxe - one single bed one double bed Family room - two double beds Booked one superior and one deluxe room as the family room was fully booked as it was the year end school holidays. Rooms were clean. Newly renovated. Lift/elevator was new and uses touch screen buttons. Confortable pillows and mattress. Toiletries bare minimal and only 200/250ml of water in a sealed cup provided. Bring your own hair dryer and toothpaste/toothbrush but there are at least 3 sundry/convenience stores nearby and on either sides of the hotel like a few steps away selling all yr necessities and bread, snacks etc. A stone's throw from restaurants, Chinese or Muslim food available at nearby restaurant/shops. In room internet erratic. Fast enough but my devices kept getting disconnected. Overall value for money for the size.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and booked for a family room. The room was very clean. This family room doesn’t have any windows, so you might need to inform them earlier if you need a room with windows. Staffs are so nice and helpful. There was even a ‘mini grocery store’ at the lobby - which my kids love it! It is one of the best value hotel i have stayed. Thank you 😁

I was staying here before entering my university. I stayed here with my parents and brother. Quite a good experience as the best thing of this hotel is, it's located very near to the well-known shopping malls, i.e. CitySquare and KSL Megamall. Everything is good, friendly staff, ok-ok breakfast, comfy room, and so on. But it did ruin my first impression when I realised that they still use old style key instead of key card. No kettle inside to allow us to boil water but the water dispenser outside each floor does provide boiled water. Good shower with high water flow, fridge is provided, big and comfy beds. Just one thing that really annoyed us was the Hindu ceremony which was held just in front the hotel. I don't know whether that is permanent or just temporarily, but for the 3 days we stayed there, the prayers and the smoke did't stop at all from 8am to 12am. The whole room was filled with smoke smell and the prayers was so loud that we couldn't sleep until 12am. However, my family and I agree that it's pointless to complain to the hotel. That's not their fault too. Summary, everything is excellent as a budget hotel, except the Hindu ceremony.

even before i book from agoda i have been staying in this hotel for a few times but with agoda the price is better and i was surprise that they have cable tv now with star movie it was something new for this hotel where they don have it before and the guest will not be boring even they wanted to stay in the room for the whole day it's a regret that they do not have wi-fi in the room hope they improve on this

Location-not my first time in this location as it is near the CIQ to Singapore but without car park. Therefore only suitable for flight travellers via SIN or JHB airports or bus. Those who drive from other parts of Malaysia, sorry no parking. Eats-just around the corner is Meldrum Walk, if you do not fancy hawker food, City Square Mall is just nearby where you can get higher end food. BEWARE-there are some vice activities and prostitutes may be hanging out outside the hotel, but as long as you avoid them it should be ok. Staff-There was one elderly Indian man-Senior staff? Very courteous and professional as a hotel staff. Facilities-very good, booked the room with window and it was big and spacious for one person. Facilities-TV Channel. Fox Movies...Wowww, this is one reason that I wish I could stay longer and more in my room. The availability of movies means you have your own private cinema from the bed. Quite hard for a business traveller like me to leave the room though xD

UTC JB RM8.00 JB Sentral RM7.00 KSL Resort RM8.00 For the hotel rate you pay, this hotel is very good. Hot water shower, toothbrush, coffee making facility, LCD TV and dressing/writing table. Best rate will be when you book through Agoda. Beautiful stay.

Geat value for money. i booked the room with shared toilet and i had the good surprise to find a shower and a washbasin in my room (actually ony the toilet was shared and it came as a good news). The hotel is ideally located at 5 min walk from jb sentral and from the city tower (& the huge shopping mall)....i have to admit i had mixed feelings about the location at first sight (some drunk people, some prostitutes and some cops in the small meldrum street) But after 6 nights at meldrum hotel, i realized that everybody is living in absolute peace here and the atmosphere is just great ! i felt like i was in one of the streets of the movie "blade runner" ! Many restaurants and food stalls in the tiny streets around, many shops, 7eleven, laundry etc, many great people from many different origins. ....Quiet place and The staff is very helpful. i recommend.
