Great value for budget travelers.”

We were in room #3 which was spacious and clean. We were really impressed with both the Thai and Western food that we had there. Some of the meal options are a bit expensive, but after tasting them we know we were getting our money's worth. The staff was courteous and helpful at every turn. We had questions about what was in the neighborhood, diving options and more and they promptly and kindly helped us out. The pool table is a natural social magnet where we struck up many conversations. Tams might be 800 meters from the beach, but we're not infirmed so we happily made the wall there daily to Chaweng Beach which is the liveliest and loveliest beach we saw on Ko Samui.

Great and comfortable”

Hi there! We stayed at Tam's after booking at the last moment through agoda website and it was very relaxed with a friendly and helpful owner. The room was very spacious and clean and we had a hot water shower. It is very easy to hire a motorbike from the owner (you don't have to leave your passport !). In other places in Chaweng you had to leave the passport which I would not do personally. I definitely recommend Tam's and if you hire a bike it is only 5 mins to Chaweng shopping street and the beach. It is very cheap and comfortable! We paid only 800 baht per night (high season price since it was early January). The rooms at the back are a bit quieter than the ones which look out on the main road. Enjoy your stay!

Awesome Austrian/Thai Guesthouse”

We had a great time at Tam's Guesthouse; the owners Tam (a Thai lady) and Albin (her Austrian husband) were so nice, and laid-back. The room was huge and the bed was comfortable, and you get two free bottles of water a day. There were lots of little extras like that, my favorite of which was a lovely apple/pear vodka shot after our dinner, courtesy of our hosts! There were a few minor negative points: the air-conditioning was in bad shape and the the room overlooked the main street with lots of loud traffic, so we didn't sleep great. The wifi isn't the best, and it's a good 15 minute walk to Chaweng beach, and an additional 20 to get to the main bar/restaurant area where Ark bar is. Overall, though, we really liked Tam's guesthouse, it was a nice place to stay and it's excellent value for money. I'd go back just for the food, in any case!!

First Impressions Overcome, Tam's Grows on You ”

On check in had a disagreement with staff about the room description saying air-conditioning but the room not. I was told the owner would be informed and thought "yeah, right!" I was wrong, not an uncommon occurrence. Abid, the Austrian owner discussed it with me and resolved it by actually putting me in the air-conditioned dorm. I know! I didn't believe it either, so don't be afraid to ask. If you can get over the distance to the beach which a lot of folks can't-it's over a kilometer, you will get a more realistic view of Koh Samui. Close to all amenities except the beach and surrounded by cheap eats and non-touristy services, it'll grow on you, particularly if you're Austrian. It seems to be the centre of the German speaking expat scene with nightly German food, out of my price range but always a lot of fun and sometimes excellent yodelling and music, if you're into that and even if you aren't! Free pool table and real computers. Excellent Wi-Fi. The place could be cleaner though. I was there five days for one towel and set of sheets and I suspect it was only cleaned once and not thoroughly. But at $3 a night who's complaining?

I'd recommend this place to anyone ... five minute walk away from chaweng beach, close to chaweng stadium and a nifty little market on the way through. Good value for money , really helpful staff .

Great accommodation in Koh Samui with yummy food”

After my unsuccessful first accommodation in Koh Samui, I was very happy to find Tams guesthouse. The room was clean and super spacious. The food in the restaurant is even better. I would definitely come and stay again if I ever return to Koh Samui.

1) The studio Room was clean and huge. 2) Well worth the money spent. 3) Location: Can't comment because didn't venture out much to Chaweng beach. We hopped onto our bikes and zipped to other beaches. However, it on the main road to around the island. 4) Breakfast: Can't comment. Didn't have meal included in our room stay. 5) Coming again in March and June and have the intention of staying there again. :)

Right in the heart of Chaweng, this spacious room is great for the budget traveller. The room was clean, comfortable and right on the main road. We had a fridge and a sink in our room. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I was apprehensive at first. Such a cheap room, I was worried I would be disappointed. But after reading the reviews, I decided to go for it. I am so glad I did. The rooms are large, the beds are comfy and clean, the whole setup just, works. It is a just a touch away from the beach itself, but the area is wonderful, and let's be honest, you're going to rent a motorbike anyway. I would absolutely stay here again. I only wish I had found this place sooner.

Good price in Chaweng”

Once of the cheapest places in Samui. Staff helpful and beds comfy. Unfortunately a little noisy with traffic but this would be pretty hard to stop given its proximity to the road. Would stay again.

Amazing value”

This was one of the cheapest options in Chaweng and the studio apartment room was excellent- air con, fridge, TV, very clean and comfortable. Location not great about a 20 minute walk from the beach along a busy road but I guess that's why it's such good value! Friendly and helpful staff.

I was originally a bit worried that the price for the studio room was a for what I seemed to be getting. But it turned to be just great value for money. I would reccommend staying here. large sgudio rooms. Good location. Lovely staff. Only grumble is that the room smelt of smoke. But you don't notice it after a few moments of being in there. Overall a great stay and even better value for money.

Stayed at Tam's for a few nights. Walking distance to Chaweng beach and the walking street. Anything else you will need to rent a motorbike (from Tam's is 150/nearby 100). Dorm entrance is accessible from the outside of the building. Room has 7 bunk beds with a few fans. Fridge and hot water is available. Room gets warm at night/has mosquitos. Decent soft bed with clean sheets for price. Bathroom is fairly gross. Only one with shower in same room as toilet/urinal and sink. Drain on floor doesn't drain quickly, so if there are lots of people showering then there is standing water. Lockers are available for small items. Bags are kept along wall or under bunks. Restaurant has good food at a decent price, plus a pool table. Cheap accommodation. Good people that come through.

Good position”

We've been just 1 night in Ko Samui, this hotel is on a bar with pools, darts, free wifi, it is managed by a funny austrian man very friendly, it is located on the main road but taxy driver did not know it. Attached to the hotel is a very nice shop where you can buy several kind of homemade soaps. Position of hotel is very near chaweng beach 1, the room is a comfortable studio type with fridge and kitchen.

Very pleasant stay at Tam's guesthouse - no faults for me. Location is out the way a bit from the main strip of the Chaweng beach area - 20-25 minute walk, but don't let it put you off! Big sized bed and rooms with English television channels and speedy wifi! Would recommend!

For the first time, it was very difficult to found this hostel. Tams GuestHouse is the other name of this hotel. I think the Hostel is cheapest there. Room is clean and Wifi very fast. And the most important is halal restaurant near this hotel..

For the price you can't go wrong, I was skeptical as it was so cheap but apart from being a little off the main strip, yet still walking distance it was a good place to stay.
