Huge resort with no customers”
The resort covers a huge amount of space so it's great if you enjoy walking. The pool looked usable but we forgot our gear. The resort has aged so its in need of maintenance, but there were people working on it which was good to see. Breakfast was surprisingly OK with toast and marmalade, cornflakes, and eggs and sausages. The coffee was undrinkable though. My main gripe was that all the double bed bungalows were behind the twin bed bungalows meaning they didn't have a view of anything. It would have been nice to have that view of the river, especially when the resort is so vast and empty. I feel the resort has its own charm and we enjoyed our stay, but without a view from the balcony we don't expect to go back.

Looked old”
Great views next to the Kwai River, but the resort has felt the effects of Covid. Most of the resort was closed off. Pool cleanliness was average. Needs a thorough make over.

Very old hotel”
This hotel is very old and in very poor condition. The pool was renovated and nice. The breakfast was very average. The food in the restaurant for dinner was very good and well priced. We payed a extra 699b on Agoda for a extra person and fold up bed but then the hotel staff wanted to charge a extra 120b for the extra person for breakfast.

Above average”
We have stayed in this resort before and hence chose for this time again for a 2 nights stay. But looks like, the resort is badly hit by the pandemic and the property looks like its not been in use for a long time. Rooms are fine, but breakfast is below average, with only bread and fruits on the buffet and any other request was served on table. Bath accessories were not sufficient. There are only a handful of staff at the reception and most services close by 8 pm. But the staff who are on duty try to provide the best they could. On the second night, we were the only guests in the whole property and it was a little creepy to be alone in the sprawling place. Our stay didn’t have any problem, was smooth and safe. But the property needs a lift up in maintenance and service. P.S : The raft houses are not available for booking these days and the activities around the resort have been cancelled. The staff said its due to Covid restrictions.

Acceptable”
The room is like being in the parking lot, when asked for a better room, received an answer that if booking from Agoda, you can get a room like this. If you want to take another room, you have to add the normal price, the breakfast is good, there is a swimming pool.

peaceful and idllyic setting”
the resort is fairly big so it takes a while for things to happen but for me it suited fine as i was having a slow lazy non paced holiday. being away from k'buri town also worked in my favour as a certain type of traveller will head out 65km to pung waan and not your average noisy backpacker groups. transport is an issue and it would be good to consider hiring the bikes and riding out to enjoy the local food instead of being restricted to a fairly western dominant menu with some thai dishes. having said that, the food was good.

delightful stay in comfortable hotel”
Pung Waan was great. We loved the rooms and the big veranda that we could visit our friends on, yet be private in our own rooms. The rooms are big and spacious and the gardens are immaculately kept. Peaceful and green. This was a lovely stay in a hotel that will definitely see us again

our stay 17/12 - 21/12/08”
The resort has lovely well maintained grounds and our deluxe cottages on stilts shared a a balcony and over looked the river. The swimming pool had the added bonus of a water slide which my two children (11 & 12) thoroughly enjoyed. The food was really good, I can recommend the fried pork with garlic and pepper! The activities provided by CDR adventure are really worth doing - an elephant ride and bathing on a elephant in the river really is a must as is taking a long tail boat up the river to the death railway and then riding the train back to Nam Tok. We really got to experience the real Thailand even sharing most of the train with Thai school children on their school trip! The staff are very helpful and friendly, always smiling and polite. It is a little far out from the main attractions - Bridge of the river kwai and some museums, but we preferred this. It mainly has Thai people staying there, but we preferred this too as it was a little quieter! We had a and wonderful stay and have fabulous memories and photos!
