Beautiful”
Although I travel a lot, the Rachamankha is easily the best hotel I have stayed at in Thailand, and perhaps anywhere. I lived in Thailand for over a year so am familiar with Thai service and food, but the Rachamankha topped any experience yet. The owner is apparently a Thai architect who has restored the building carefully, and who uses the hotel and the gallery to house part of his collection of Nothern Thai antiques. The care and attention is clear in the details throughout the cloistered courtyards and in each room. As an aside, the hotel is very well situated next to Wat Phra Singh and inside Chiang Mai's old town. The food at the restaurant is excellent - the Pad Thai is a contradication, being a peasant dish that tastes like a Michelin starred chef prepared it. The service is excellent - attentive, but unobtrusive - and the best I have had in Thailand. Yet it very reasonably priced, compared both to restaurants in Bangkok and in Chiang Mai (approx THB 220 for a main dish). I chanced upon the Rachamankha while trying to book a decent but not too expensive hotel for a weekend in Chiang Mai for the girlfriend. Having stayed at the Rachamankha I will be back to Chiang Mai just for the hotel.

Just beautiful”
rachamankha hotel is absolutely stunning and a secret oasis within the old city walls. every detail of this hotel was meticulously planned out maintained to make your stay as comfortable as possible with hints of thailand all around you. when you look at the pictures you might be saying to yourself, “wow this place looks amazing”. you would be wrong . . . it’s even better than any picture could describe it. every bit of this small quaint hotel is absolute perfection and pulls off its goal as being a retreat away from the bustling small yet charming beautiful city of chiang mai. we had an amazing breakfast every morning in on restaurant patio which is small but very comfortable and relaxing. the rooms were beautiful with tons of exposed wood beams and handcrafted furniture. the service was impeccable. everyone was so nice, accommodating, friendly and professional. if you needed anything they would make it happen immediately. we could not have had a better stay at the rachamankha for our honeymoon. it was pure relaxation and zen-like after a long day and night of exploring one of the most beautiful cities in thailand.

Beautiful, elegant hotel”
the rachamankha is in an ideal location near several impressive wats in the "old city." our room was well-appointed, nicely decorated in thompson-esque style, and quiet. we were greeted by the manager, paul, a charming and helpful fellow. our first stop was the pool area, which was impeccably maintained, romantically lit, and intimate. the lobby areas were dramatic (huge pillars and lots of surprisingly nice art pieces) and comfortable. the library was truly fabulous: lots of polished wood, tons of hardcover books, many of them over-sized, a decanter of brandy, computers discreetly set, and comfortable chairs. our room was well-appointed, spotless, nicely decorated in thai style, and quiet. the restaurant at the rachamankha was truly special, for half of the tables were in a courtyard under the trees. we were serenaded by live, traditional lanna music and chose the option of a several-course, vegetarian meal with a very nice wine. the rachamankha was a wonderful surprise. we will stay again if we're fortunate enough to return to chiang mai.

Rachamankha Hotel Chiang Mai: Perfect Escape ”
From the moment we stepped foot into the Ranchamankha Hotel Chiang Mai, we couldn't have been more pleased. The receptionist at the front desk was amicable, thus leaving us with a very positive first impression. The receptionist walked us to our room, which was standard, and we were thrilled to be staying in such a lovely space. There were two double beds, two armoires, a safe deposit box, several hangers, and a fully stocked bathroom. Every time we ate a meal at the hotel, which for us, was breakfast and lunch a few times, the waiters were not only friendly but also knowledgeable about the menu and willing to go the extra mile to make us happy. The pool area was also beautiful, from the color of the water to the lounge chairs. Chinese antiques were dispersed throughout the hotel, which gave us many unique photo opportunities. There was this serene quality about the Ranchamankha that made us want to extend our stay, which was during the Thai New Year, meaning there was total chaos throughout Chiang Mai, since thousands of people were squirting each other with water guns (part of Thai New Year tradition). We don't know when we will be returning to Chiang mai, if ever, but if we do, we'll definitely choose the Rachamankha, which is telling. This was truly a perfect escape!

Beautiful hotel”
We stayed at Rachamankha for one night; I wish we could stay forever. It is a beautiful hotel with a very attentive staff. We chose to spoil ourselves for one night on our backpacking trip for my girlfriends birthday. The hotel was luxurious without being stuffy. They have a nice restaurant with a bar and the location is perfect for the old city of Chiang Mai. This is one of my favorite hotels I have ever stayed in. As a member of the service industry, I was impressed.

Beautiful Hotel”
We loved our stay at the Rachamankha Hotel. The hotel is located within the walls of the old town square, although it is a little far to walk to some of the further attractions in Chiang Mai. We soon leaned to catch the songtheau (little red trucks) that will take you anywhere for 20B per person. The staff were very helpfull and courteous. The hotel hasa large, beautiful pool, which we had to ourselves most times we were there in the heat of the afternoon. Overall, highly recommended.

A serene oasis in the middle of a bustling city”
From the moment I emerged from my taxi, I was engulfed in a sea of tranquility and beauty. Voices are hushed at the Rachamankha, in fact words seem unnecessary as one's soul is drenched the peace and awe of the surrounding. Exquisite care has been taken with the entire property, which is adorned with pieces of art and sculpture that are amazing. Walking through the grounds is akin to walking through a holy land and your spirit soars. On top of this, the staff are impeccably trained and attentive to all your needs. The restaurant serves excellent food and the breakfast option is quite a deal. Order what you want from the menu. My accommodations at the Rachamankha were the high point of my visit toChaing Mai. It was difficult to leave the grounds for the many sights and acitivities available in the city.

Superb in Every Way”
The Rachamankha Hotel is as close to perfection as I can imagine. Its setting is tranquil despite being within the busy Old City, and is beautifully designed and maintained. The registration and restaurant staff are exceedingly helpful and communicate easily in English. I loved the pool, spa and library, and gourmet meals most. This is my new "home away from home" in Chiang Mai, and I will be returning each time I am in the area. Jeanne from the United States

A special place, a real retreat”
There are few places that capture the spirit of Zen in this way. The hotel is carefully designed and one feels instant calm and relaxation when entering the grounds. It's truly a fabulous and unique place! The staff are exceedingly helpful, the Thai massage was superb, and restaurant excellent, as well. I highly recommend the Rachamankha as a retreat within the bustling old city of Chiang Mai.

splendid upscale place in chiang mai”
The Rachamankha is one of those places that is so beautiful and comfortable that you have a hard time convincing yourself to go out and hit the streets/temples/markets of Chiang Mai. Architect-designed, and it shows; you could walk around for hours just absorbing the details and the antiques in the public areas. (Great gallery--almost a small museum, really--above the restaurant as well.) Breakfast is incredible--you can even make your own blend of fresh juice--and the dinner menu seems inventive and authentic, with some dishes from Burmese and Lao cuisine as well. A short walk to many important temples. I came during Songkran (Thai New Year) and it was a pleasure coming back to the hotel after a day of being sprayed with water by what seemed like hundreds of people on the streets.

A magical experience”
Staying at the Rachamankha has been one my best hotel experience to date. As soon as you enter the hotel, you immediately feel immersed in a quiet and luxurious haven. The staff is particularly friendly and always happy to help. The hotel only has a limited number of rooms so it feels quite selective, and it makes the service very personal. I will definitely return to the Rachamankha on my next visit to Chiang Mai.

Incredible atmosphere.”
We had a remarkably pleasant stay at the hotel for three nights. On checking out I met the manager, Paul Walker, and told him we had missed tea and coffee making facilities in the room. He said that could be provided, and offered us a very competitive last minute rate, when I told him that we would return to Chiang Mai in three days time. On our return I fell ill and was hospitalised for two days. Although we had a booking for only one night, Mr Walker daily extended the stay for my friend and on my return we were given a large room with a bath tub and tea and coffee making facilities, all four days at the same competitive rate. I tell this story because I felt we were given personal attention by a caring Mr Walker and staff during our stay. Not something you find in many hotels. All three the rooms we stayed in were well apointed and comfortable. The breakfast, which was included in our package, was a la cart and excellent. The hotel is designed to echo a Thai temple or monastry. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet. There are ample deck chairs round the pool and enough shaded areas under large trees for those who do not wish to lie in the sun. It is an artistic place with pieces of art in the rooms and on the varandahs and in the art gallery above the restaurant, which spills over into a beautiful court yard where breakfast and dinner is served. The library has a good collection of books, with free brandy and free internet and printing facilities. A very special place, to which we will certainly return on our next visit to Chiang Mai.

Perfect in the middle of Chiang Mai's craziness”
A wonderful resort in the middle of the crazy city of Chaing Mai. It easy to get around with tuk tuks and taxis around the corner and staff is very helpful in directing and suggesting places to go. Shout out to the Manager that exceeded any and all expectations. I loved the decor and design and lives up to the photos and descriptions online. Great place! Thanks Rachamankha for making out first trip to Chiang Mai one to remeber.

Elegant & beautiful, a pretty perfect south-east Asia hotel”
Two years ago I had dinner here after stumbling across it when wandering round the old town of Chiang Mai. I immediately had hotel envy and as soon as I decided to come back to CM I knew I had to stay here. I was not disappointed. The beautiful courtyards unfold before you, each one shady and alluring, housing antique furniture and prints down the side galleries, and with frangipanis and palm trees dotting the central space, one of them enclosing a lovely quiet pool, another an exquisite library. This is the kind of building you often find yourself paying to wander round, to stay here was a privilege and I loved it. Every detail here was considered and I would definitely recommend it. My only comment to the owners is that the bathrooms need some love and attention, compared to everything else it felt shabby (but in fact, it was absolutely fine and with lovely Molton Brown toiletries - it just didn't live up to the quality of the rest of the experience). Location-wise it's also great, down a small back street inside the old city walls and a five minute walk from the main temple complex and one end of the night market. I was sad to leave, you'll be delighted to arrive.

Comfortable Boutique hotel”
The rachamankha is a special hotel. The owner has basically kept the original villa intact and refurbished it into a hotel with most of the original fixtures remaining. So you get the feel of staying in a hotel that has stopped somewhere in time. Location of hotel is good (within chiang mai city) and makes it easy to walk around chiang mai itself. Breakfast is simple but tasty and the library is a hidden gem in itself with the relaxing gardens there to help you forget the outside world.

Serenity absolute”
Tucked away on the edge of the old city, one feels transported into a bubble where time seems to stand still. Some might say that the Rachamankha is a little spartan by todays standard, without a spa or fitness facility and a very abbreviated in-room dining menu, but it excels as an intimate secret retreat away from the mainstream. The ambience provides insulation from the hustle and bustle which if so desired, is a mere 10 minute walk from the Sunday night market walking street, Conveniently located within the Old City the Rachamankha is definitely worth a revisit.

Beautiful and Quiet Boutique Hotel”
the hotel is located within the old city of chiang mai, not too far from the moat though most dining and shopping is located elsewhere. still, a pretty area to walk around and the hotel ground themselves are very nice. we stayed in a suite which wound up being a two-bedroom suite, which was a bit unexpected. as such the suite was very large but we didn't utilize all of the space as we are a couple. breakfast was very good- a good menu selection of various dishes along with a small buffet of breads and cereals. on the second day the buffet was gone and service was much slower- the staff apologized and noted that there were only two of them working that day. rooms had complimentary wifi and numerous plugs for charging. overall a very good stay and i would stay there again.
