Amazing Experience!!!”

This was my first ever trip to Krabi and choosing to stay at Railay Great View Resort in Krabi was probably one of the best opportunities. Previously, I visited to Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia back in April, 2019 and Krabi was good enough to have me recall my memories back where Railay Great View Resort played a vital role along with their really helpful and jolly staffs. The rooms were really comfortable, coming with stunning view and ambient interior, one can always be connected to the nature. The amenities that were mentioned were well provided and there was no compromising mentality from the hotel authority. The buffet breakfast was outstanding. There were enough items to match top-notch facility and we loved every bit of it. However, the in house restaurant offers a great number of foods, but the only drawback is their pricing is comparative to the restaurants outside. I would love to visit them again.

Best Hotel in Railay”

we stayed here for 5 nights in a standard bungalow for about $45/ night. the bungalow was high up on stilts with fan only but very spacious and brand new. we felt like getting a high class bungalow worth much more than what we paid. the balcony was great, lovely ocean views and very cozy chairs!! the bungalow had everything what we needed: safe deposit box, mosquito net, tv, mini fridge, phone etc. the bathroom was amazing, although it had a shower only. the more expensive ones come with bathtubs. we were dropped off at railay west and walked over to railay east (maybe 5-10 min) and from there it was another 10-15 min to the hotel. it was a bit of a sweaty hike with our backpacks in the heat, but we didn't bother. the hotel has everything you can wish for, always considering what we paid ($45)!! a great and refreshing pool, very nice restaurant with awesome food (we had thai food all the time and it was delicious!!), a little gazebo where you can enjoy massage at a very reasonable price. you are surrounded by limestone cliffs and water, very scenic. we actually liked the location very much because it was away from all the hustle and bustle and unpleasant smells. railay has kind of a garbage/ wastewater etc. problem. specially railay east is not very appealing, so beeing away from it all was actually a relief. coming back to the hotel always felt like coming back to a retreat. railay great view is in my opinion the best choice in railay east, west and tonsai except for the rayavadee probably...staff at railay great view were very nice and helpful, especially the guys in the restaurant always made us feel very welcomed. the only downside was the noise from the longtail boats.

The best place in Railay”

I stayed for 8 nights at the Great View Resort and I am very pleased with it. It is located in a remote part of the peninsula, about 15 minutes hiking from Railay East. The resort provides with a courtesy boat that runs several times a day between the Great View and Railay East. The last boat departs at 21:30 from Railay and they keep their schedule perfectly. If you are too late to catch a boat you will have to hike to the resort and the road is quite wild. Do not try to do it when the tide is high. The hike itself is wonderful but it can be quite a challenge for seniors or small kids. As a tip: do NOT try to walk this path with your luggage. It is doable but it is no fun - wait for the hotel boat or hire one of the boats in Railay East. All bungalows are very clean and are a great deal for the money you pay. They are definitely among the best in Railay. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is OK but do not expect culinary wonders.

Beautiful, Friendly, Bugsy”

I found the resort to be extremely pretty and the staff very attentive. The food at Great View was he best I had while in Krabi and reasonably priced for a resort. The mini mart and mini bar are well over priced but you can get anything you need in Railay East. The resort is about 15 min walk removed from Railay East and the walk is along a path above the beach, well lit and well paved and very pretty. Railay east is quiet during the day time but has a happening restaurant/bar scene popping ever in the low season. My only complaints about Great View was that to reach my room was a 10-15 min uphill hike with some of the sidewalks so steep that while standing up right you could touch the path in front of you. The rooms though beautiful are no completely sealed and though it didn't bother me personally (it bothered my girlfriend) there were bugs in the room. Some sealing around the doors and rafters would easily solve this problem. again the place is stunning and very nice, just bring bug spray and you're good.

Tranquil and relaxing”

Railay Great View is in a stunning location at the end of Railay East beach, meaning that you don't have the endless stream of tourists traipsing past your hotel like many other resorts do. The food is great and reasonably priced, and the rooms are beautiful and all use natural materials, making them fit into the landscape perfectly. We have now been back to Great View twice and would continue to stay there as it is our favourite place in Krabi. Since our last stay 3 years ago, there is the need for minor maintenance, and we did have a few problems with the staff struggling to speak English. All in all, the best value for money you can find in Krabi!

Idyllic Thai Bungalows but long walk with luggage”

Had heard Railay beautiful location and was not disappointed. Railay Great View Resort is in remote area of Railay and quite a walk from the main beach area(about 7-800 metres along well made concrete pathway)which was tiresome on arrival lugging heavy luggage,but once at resort it all becomes worthwhile. The cottage(bungalow) is islandish in style and beautifully fitted out. The glass walled bathroom makes you feel like you are showering outdoors.Even though not air-conditioned the fans are adequate to cool the rooms. The restaurant serves first class fare and prices very reasonable . All staff very friendly except porter who showed the room.Great value for money

Brilliant bungalows, great pool, nice and quiet”

It's located at the very end of Railay East Beach (which is not swimmable) and it is a bit of a walk there, but you're rewarded with nice and quite new bungalows (apparently built in 2010/2011) located on a hill away from any kind of bar etc. You will walk at least 10 minutes from the "Last Bar" (literally) on Railay East, however, the resort has a free longtail boat shuttle going back and forth a couple of times per day between Railay East and the Resort. Most if not all bungalows seem to have nice veranda. However don't expect a real sea view, as the view is mostly blocked by trees. We thought this was actually quite okay, because you have some shade during the day and you feel closer to nature. The resort has an infinity pool which is real nice to hang out at during the day. Bungalow 1 is located a bit too closely to the pool. You hear pretty much everything in there and people can look into the bungalow from the pool deck. Railay Great View Resort and Spa is a great place if you just want to relax.

Secluded in crammed Railay”

this resort is a welcome break from all of the people around railay. i believe the resort was nearly booked but you wouldn't know it due to the bungalows being spread apart nicely. if you can tolerate a 10-20 minute walk to the beaches and other railay resort areas the great view is a fabulous choice. they also deliver prompt, friendly service from the front desk, service staff, and restaraunt...something we didn't find anywhere else on railay. the pool is fantastic where its enjoyable to sit and watch hikers from the other resorts come up and give the "why didn't we stay here" look. the bungalows, while mostly wood, bamboo, and palm were modern, clean and had excellent bathrooms. we stayed at one of the other resorts on the first couple nights then moved to great view...certainly glad we did.

Satisfied stay but not perfect”

I just came home from spending 3 nights at Railay Great View and am overall quite pleased with my choice. Location: Pros - In terms of tranquility and view I think the resort ranks as the best located property in Railay. It sits on a hillside between 2 private coves at the edge of the Railay East and one of the coves offers a nice view of the Railay East bay. Cons - It is quite a walk to the Railay East village which in itself is already a short distance away from the Railay East pier and the other destinations beyond. The path is undulating which adds to the difficulty. There is a free boat from Railay East pier to and from the hotel but it runs rather infrequently and it involves getting one's feet wet. Rooms : Pros - The rooms are well furnished and comfortable with a generous-sized bed and bathroom. I liked the decorative thought that went into the design of each cottage. Resort: Pros - The resort itself is set within much greenery which gives the impression of privacy and seclusion. The pool was clean with jacuzzi nozzles. There were also plenty of comfortable deck chairs if you wish to tan. Cons - Mosquitoes swarm around most of Railay but seem especially bad around the resort. - The resort is also quite hilly - I swear our room is at least 4 stories above the reception area but all these height is covered on foot on steep concrete paths with occasional steps. - Most of the rooms (mine included) have their views blocked by trees and branches. I didn't mind so much that my sea view was blocked beach that meant that the morning sun is less harsh but I thought that the restaurant and pool at least should have a clear view. Other observations: Breakfast is really quite excellent. Generous and varying spread each morning.

Lovely rooms, great setting & fabulous restaurant”

We originally booked a Standard Cottage, and althought the room was lovely, we suffered without the aircon. We then upgraded to a deluxe cottage and were in heaven! All the rooms look out through the trees onto the water, and are spacious and well-decorated. The pool is great for relaxing, and you can order meals to eat poolside. Railay Great View is the last stop on Railay East beach, so you dont have a million tourists traipsing past your lodge, which is a huge plus! The longtail boats going past are loud, but after 1 day you forget about them entirely. The meals are absolutely delicious and the menu is hugely varied. The resort was also very helpful in arranging transfers and ferry boats for us. All in all, we were very happy at Railay, and it felt like home away from home. Would love to go back! I would recommend staying at least 3 to 4 days so you can unwind here

Beautiful, clean rooms and very efficient staff”

i stayed at railay great view resort with a friend and we had a really great time there. there was only one other family staying there so it was nice and quiet. it is a 15-20 mins walk to the centre of railay- make sure you take a torch with you though at night! i can't complain at all about the hotel- everything was perfect. mini fridge in the room which was stocked with complimentary bottled water, mars and snickers bars (which you had to pay for) tea and coffee and nuts. it is not suitable for people who struggle with walking as it is situated on a hill. also the private beach isn't good for anything except sunbathing but just 20mins walk away are two of the most beautiful beaches i have ever seen.

Hidden gem...”

This place is fabulous. My second stay on Railay - first at Railay Beach Resort which is lovely, but this place has much more soul and an authentic Thai feel. Its brand new so there is yet to be a pool installed etc. but it really is a gorgeous place. There are steps - yes, and the path to Railay East (which is definitely only 10 mins max) is a bit treacherous in places (i.e. not paved and a little rocky) but this added to our experience. Altho the bungalows are contemporary and luxurious at Railay Grand View, if you are looking for the quintessential hotel-styled stay, head to West Railay resorts, but if you are looking for a relaxed, friendly, quiet and gorgeous getaway, then stay at Railay Grand View. Oh, and the breakfasts are made to order instead of buffet which was brilliant - you can choose as much food as you like!

Great location”

Clean, spacious, luxury houses in a forest. Despite the name there is not much panorama on the fantastic rocks of Railay, as the trees block the view. However, this is as advantage, as the same trees reduce the ubiquitous noise from the longtail boats arriving to and departing from other resorts. As I was the only guest in the summer low season for most of the time, the attention I got from staff was almost embarrassingly high. The price I paid through I shall stay in Railay Great View Resort during my next visit for sure!

Great views and Fabulous room”

This hotel offers all you could ask for if you want to get away from the madding crowd - the rooms/cottages are perched on a hillside, all with balconies, giving unrivalled views across the sea and gardens. We only stayed one night but could happily have stayed more. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to make your time with them pleasurable. I had a wonderful massage with Taa, the resident masseur - highly recommended albeit on the expensive side compared to the many massage places in Railay. The downside of the resort though is the noise of the long tails making their sea journeys to and from Krabi around the point - this could be deafening at times and was continual throughout the day and into the night. I was unable to sleep with it as was awake until 11pm with the noise - such a shame. The other thing to mention is this resort is not suitable for anyone who is not fit and capable of steep climbs both to the cottages and the restaurant.

Perfect for chill beach getaway”

It was low season and peacefully quiet with only a smattering of guests noticeable throughout the day, at the pool and resort restaurant. Staff is friendly and professional. The resort provides boat shuttles and airport pickups, everything went smoothly. The stylish modern treehouses are impeccably clean with rustic earthy charm, perfect for those seeking budget boutique experiences. It's the last resort on the stretch, situated a bit higher up than most, and comes with a lovely balcony with an unobstructed view, within sight of the ocean past all the foliage. The resort is private yet only a short walking distance to amenities and the attractions of pristine beaches and cliffs and caves. Great food, cocktails and hammocks at Tew Lay, then further to Railay East there's Joy Pizza (addictive thin crust pizza and cheap but good cocktails) and other bars and restaurants. Railay West is nearby, with more touristy shops and beach. Best beach is Phra Nang, a smaller and more secluded spot. All in all, a lovely and romantic getaway spot ideal for those on a budget, seeking a modern, relaxing and fuss-free getaway on paradise beaches.

Luxury in the jungle.”

Once we had recovered from getting a longboat to the wrong end of Railay East beach and having to walk for 20 mins with cases in the searing heat, we absolutely loved this place. The resort is a collection of treehouse type bungalows in the jungle with spacious wooden balconies to observe a whole world of wildlife while the sea gently laps below, the longboats chug past in the distance and the amazing limestone cliffs tower over you. Incredible. Easy walk to Railay East beach where there's loads of restaurants and not too much further to Railay West where there’s even more. Prices are very reasonable. We visited the four different beaches in one day and they're all very different. Life around Railay is chilled, happy and stunning. Breakfast was buffet style and good quality although the choice wasn't extensive. Overall, the whole place is incredibly safe, family friendly and feels much more untouched than Phuket or a lot of other Thailand resorts. My daughter is 7 and she rates it her second top resort (after Koh Samui!). Firmly recommend but bring some mozzie spray and coils for the evenings.

A perfect balance!”

I was so pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the Railay Great View Resort and Spa. As my headline states, it is a great balance in terms of location and amenities. Located at the northern tip of Railay East (more mangroves than beach on the east side), it offers peace and serenity, a spectacular view, and access to restaurants and bars -- as close as a 10 minute walk or as far as a 25 minute walk. The famous beaches, located on the west side of Railay -- ranged from 20-25 minutes by foot. Liking both the sea and pool, I spent time at both...The resort has a beautiful pool, with both exposed and shaded parts and seating on two levels, which was perfect if a nap, reading a book, etc. were on your vacation to-do list. The breakfast is good and has many options...and while I ate most other meals away from the resort, I did have one lunch at the resort and it was a very tasty Thai specialty. The cabins are all built upon a hillside, and all offer views (hence the name of the resort). Mine was at the very top (#41) and the climb was steep. If this seems to be a drawback, I imagine the resort could attempt to place you in a lower cabin. I will be booking again, for sure! I LOVED IT!

Railay Great View Resort and Spa”

Charming cottages with a rustic vibe on the quieter side of Railay. Exactly what we were looking for after a week in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. There was still a little bit of construction in the pool area (pool is almost finished) and restaurant (we had to eat breakfast in the lobby, but not a big deal) but we heard no construction noise from our room during our 2-night stay. Breakfast was simple, but made with care and served with a genuine smile. If you're out of shape, ask for a room close to the lobby, or you'll be doing a LOT of climbing up and down very steep steps. Also, due to its location, the hotel is not wheelchair friendly. The hotel is not accessible by car, so the only way in/out of the resort is either by a free scheduled long tail boat shuttle service to Railay East/Ao Nang Pier or a 10-minute walk through a somewhat well lit trail along the beach. We did get lost one night on our first try and ended up having to walk back to the pier to catch the last boat ride back to the hotel... It felt like a little jungle adventure! So my suggestion is, if you decide to explore the trail, do it during the day and leaving from the hotel to Railay East, not the other way around. Overall, we had an amazing stay at Railay Great View Resort and Spa and the attentive staff made us feel welcome. I would definitely recommend this hotel for those who don't mind being a little far from the center and enjoy feeling connected to the hotel's natural surroundings : )

Nice,quiet,beautiful view,clean room”

The room is really nice. Enjoy sunrise on our patio but can hear long tails boat early morning and keep going all day. Staff are friendly specially( Rak )from the hotel restaurant and also the manager kept checking on us if we wanted anything good services. They are offer free shuttle boat to Nam Moa,East Railay beach but you can walk about15- 20 mins.swimming pool is nice the hotel quiet and not many people like front beach hotel.We will be back next time Railay Great View Resort.

Funky and fantastic!”

The resort is located away from the East beach at Railay ... it is a good walk but the path is concrete and very good. The resort also run longtail services is you cannot manage the 10 to 15 minute walk. The resort is set amongst plenty trees on a hill... it makes for plenty of uphill walking depending on where your room is but means that the rooms which all have balconies have plenty of privacy. I loved the room, the huge bed, the teak floorboards and the massive bathroom. The breakfast is buffet and very good. The staff are very friendly and the service level is excellent as is the swimming pool. The restuarant is average for eating later in the day - do yourself a favour and find the local Thai restuarant on the path to the West Beach near Utopia. It is amongst the best and cheapest Thai food I found on my whole trip and is certainly the best in Railay. I loved staying at this hotel and would highly recommend it - I would stay here again and might do if I make it to Railay again which I loved.
