Where to stay in Suðurland
Suðurland hotels & accommodations

It is a beautiful family run hotel and we had an excellent stay. Our only regret is that we should have stayed longer, perhaps for a few days. Our room was quite large and very user friendly. The hotel location is well protected by the mountains and surrounded by farmland. Just 5 minutes east from Vik, beautiful scenery if you drive up the gravel road past their hotel...

The owner was very accommodative, but the property frankly needs to be renovated. It’s situated at a prime location in the main Vik town, and with a little expense on renovation, guests can leave with a much better experience. On a separate note, the owner put up a decent breakfast spread, and had a wonderful and cheerful attitude.

The best hotel I stayed in 8 days in Iceland ... run by an Italian couple, rooms are very clean, very well equipped, the breakfast was amazing with fresh cooked eggs and bacon made to order, wife can’t speak good English but she is so accommodating ... the best part of this place is the view, you have a mini small pond right out front with a sofa by the pond facing Sel...

My gf and I spent a week in various parts of Iceland during winter. The Garage was easily one of our favorite stays. It has a rustic look with all the comforts of a modern flat: Full kitchen for simple meals, mini fridge beautifully hidden in the interior design of the kitchen, comfy beds, a table for 4, and a beautiful bathroom with HEATED FLOORS. (That last amenity s...

This was the best place we stayed at in Iceland! It was a stopover during our self-drive in the south. It was only the two of us but we were given a HOUSE with two double rooms, large bathroom, large lounge/kitchen area, and an outside hidden jacuzzi that unfortunately we didn't use. Everything was IKEA though, IKEA beds, furniture, cupboards - they look good but will ...

The guest house is quaint with convenient check-in self check in facilities . We stayed for a night and never met any staff as there was no need really. Room was clean but tiny. We did feel a bedside table between our twin beds would have been necessary. Great kitchen facilities. As with all guesthouses there is some noise as guests move around thou this was minimal. ...

Room and public area is comfort and clean. A bit hassle during the checked in. There was no frontline staff and I need to use my international roaming to call them but the staff cannot find my booking. I was asked to drive to another nearby hotel (3 mins) to clarify and eventually they managed to find out because they were confused and mixed up all the booking name (Ch...

We had an amazing stay- modern, comfortable, well-located property with exceptional hosts who were very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and incredibly helpful. Sleeps 6 comfortably. Modern kitchen and washer/ dryer. Functioning gas grill on patio in a wonderful setting.

We stayed in one of the bungalows, as opposed to the main building. The bungalow was a nice cozy cottage. Warm inside, despite the cold weather outside. Everything was clean and in great condition. The breakfast was amazing, with a very diverse range of options. It was buffet style. Very secluded and quiet area. Definitely a nice place to spend a few nights of your tri...

Host was so nice to come and welcome and check on us after we check in. She even print out a guide for us depending on where we going, she really melted my heart with all the extra touch. Aside from its location, which abit off the main road, I am fully satisfied with the cottage. This is a perfect place to stay if you're hunting aurora as the area is open and very dark at night. I love the self contained cottage where it's compact yet provides all you need, e.g. kitchen, hot water, kettle, shower, heater, toaster, coffee maker etc. I was skeptical at f...

Our stay at the hotel was excellent! we were recommended to stay at this hotel from one of our friend who also stayed at the hotel the previous year he was visiting Iceland. I really like the wake up call service for the Northern light. And the location for the light is perfect, away from town, and city lights. The owner would knock on your door, if the light was visi...

Nice clean and friendly hotel. Very good food. Good central location to move up (to Geysir or Gulfoss waterfall) or move to the east (close to pretty waterfalls Seljalandfoss and Skogafoss and u will see more, Vik black beach, Glazier Lagoon) Sauna and hottub at the rooftop. Staff very friendly. Close to supermarket and gasstation.

We stayed here one night and found it to be very cute and charming (we felt like we were on a school camp - in a good way!) We mainly stayed here as were were off to check out Gulfoss & Geysir the following morning and were disappointed we didn't have time for a horse ride. The staff were super friendly and we would recommend this place for families/children. Thank you...

The Guesthouse very welcoming, and the location is strategic, near Selfoss town, so you can get the groceries, KFC fastfood, also souvenirs or gasoline easily, and its very calm and peaceful place, we saw the aurora in this Guesthose's front parking lot. incredible experience!

We stayed in "the blue house" down the road from the main accommodation. It has a great kitchen and two shared bathrooms for the 5 rooms of the house. We were able to go outside and watch the northern lights for about an hour. Clean and comfortable rooms.

Highly recommended place to stay. A good view of the sunrise with a nice mountain facing. Very cosy and clean. Everything you need to cook is available in the kitchen. And there’s even baking equipment! Would stay here again if we’re in the area. We will probably stay more than 1 night the next round and just chill around :)

Far from town centre difficult to find you would need a car to get there but then most of Iceland is inaccessible to public transport. When you get to property its worth it : your own outdoor spa, nice kitchen comfortable beds, good hearty breakfast.helpful lady host all in a very pristine surroundings..rolling hills and meadow with Iceland horses

We stayed at the hotel on the way from the east coast to Reykjavik. It is close to the attractions of the Golden Circle and only an hour from Reykjavik. The hotel offers a nice pool area and a good restaurant for travellers. There are some geotermal sites and a small waterfall nearby.

This hotel is cozy & well decorated with warm & cute decorations. It is located about 5mins driving away from the main road, okay for those who is driving. There is a restaurant in the hotel & this would be the only choice for you since there is no restaurants nearby. There is no TV in the room but you can find many books & puzzle in the hotel. If you are lucky enough,...

The hotel is beautifully located situated in the mountains and next to a small river, only a beautiful walk or short drive away from Hevelir hot springs (a must see!).
