Where to stay in West Papua
West Papua hotels & accommodations
This was honestly one of the BEST resorts I’ve stayed in so far. We were the ONLY one staying in this whole resort for 4 nights which was good but scary as well. On Agoda and booking.com they show “sold out” or “last room left”. That’s all false. It’s never sold out and Incase it’s showing sold out then you can contact the property directly to book a room. Staff were a...
Extremely clean accommodation with great staff, especially the dive masters, and great food. However, unless you like diving, there’s not much to do besides visiting Blue River and paradise bird watching.
Very Good. Best hotel in West Papua. Staff very polite and helpfull.
We had a fantastic 7 days for our honeymoon. It's important to have the right expectations: if you're looking for a 5 star hotel this is not the place, but if you want to live close to nature then it definitely is. We stayed in the eco bungalow: nights are sweaty & damp, shower has slightly salty water and you won't find a fan nor A/C, but this is part of the charm! Yo...
The hotel is definitely an excellent choice especially for transit or waiting for the next flight within 24 or 48 hours. Location is just in front of the airport and there is a free shuttle van provided. Staff are friendly and polite and room is clean and comfortable. Cheap too !!
we very much enjoyed our stay at Alter Native. The staff were outstanding and the food was excellent. Altho not cheap, its' location and food were top notch. As we had just celebrated our 20th anniversary, we were overwhelmed by the special cake and music and dancing they put together for us. Helga, thank you so much.
Comfortable beds, nice sitting areas, good food, affordable diving, knowledgeable staff, amazing area.
It really is just 5 mins from airport so it was nice after a long flight not to have to deal with the bartering of taxis and to be able to walk here. Room is clean with good selection on TV. Fine for a night stay and perfect as my dive company picked me up from here (Scuba Republic - highly recommend!)
Good things: Breakfast included, free transfer to ferry port if you book via Agoda, clean and spacious room, staff were excellent and very helpful, huge comfortable bed, food places nearby Bad things: No hand wash basin in room, no hot water, lots of mosquitos in room which were quickly eradicated by using an insect spray they provide (it would have been nice if they ...
It's nice to have such a great room when I just had a tiring morning flight to Sorong. They gave me such a great & upgraded room. Loving the interior so much and the hotel is very clean and comfy. Keep up the good work!
Apart from the friendly and very helpful English speaking front desk staff, and the large menu modern restaurant, and the suitably equipped room, everything was just fabulous. l had a foot infection so the staff took me to to the Medical Clinic just around the corner. Which l recommend and are well equipped. Then taken back to hotel. Awesome staff! As a solo travele...
The hotel location was good, good to get out to walk or easy to catch taxis from. Seafood market right opposite at night. Breakfast was very average, eggs cold, breakfast you would get in a 2 star hotel. Bar staff had no clue and no one willing to help or serve in bar. Rooms small but if you are not staying all your time in the room they were fine. They were clean and ...
I had a great adventure with the help of especially pak Agus, the owner of Maras Risen.
Close to the airport and to a shopping mall. (Stack up before or after islands visits) Staff was all good. But our room was wall to wall with a laundry?and it kept me awake all night by some "knocking". We left early so we didn't had the breakfast, but they made some toasts for us.
Seclusion from the hubbub of Sorong with royalty treatment by kind staff. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with juice drinks. A short ride to our condo-style accommodations, and we had peace and quiet for hours. Room service took about an hour, but food was good. The television had 2 channels in English to entertain us; the shower was hot & divine, and the king-si...
Very good. Basic hotel but great location. Nice staff. Food basic but tasty. Fabulous sunsets
We stayed in Belagri before and after our diving holiday in Raja Ampat. The hotel is not huge but it is comfortable. We booked deluxe room which is very spacious and comfortable. I suggest to try their Indonesian menu because the taste is delicious - our recommendation is Oxtail soup and Mie Goreng (Fried Noodle). The hotel is also located close to Ramayana clothing st...
Let me start with the pros first. The cottages are right above the crystal clear water and very nicely furnished. You can relax on the porch which gives you stunning views. Best, most civilised bathroom on the entire island. Wonderful service from "Mama Koki" and her staff. Location is more on the quiet side of the island. Unfortunately, there are cons. Guests ...
Our trip in Sorong is about 3 weeks and we lived this hotel nearly a week. Comparing with other local hotel we lived, this one is said to be the best hotel in Sorong downtown. Though Mr Henry is the Duty Manager of this hotel, he performs so hard that he often attends at the Reception Counter to face to those customers who need assistance. It is no exception to us....
Smart choice if you have to spend 1 night in Sorong. You can enjoy sunset at the roof, looking at the sea. Staff always provided free transfer even when I stayed 1 day only. At the moment it was the cheapest hotel in Sorong, and it wasn't bad. Food was ok as well
From the outset of my stay, I was made very welcome and it was clear that making guests' stays memorable is at the heart of everything the resort does. The staff were amazing and really made my time there special particularly Rey the owner and Zoe and Jan who manage the resort. The location is perfect for diving with many spectacular dive sites a short boat ride away....
Good place to relax and dive. Good food and great hospitality... Raja Ampat is a place for nature lover so don't expect five start facility. Bring your basic stuff (toothpaste...) and medicine. Don't forget to get pill for Malaria (consult with your doctor).
I stayed in Pandawa for my first and last night in Raja Ampat. Good food and very nice to have a hot shower after a week of kayaking. Rooms could be cleaner and the karaoke was going on late into the night but the couple running the place is lovely and I was very well looked after. I asked for a diving trip to be arranged and had a fantastic day with experienced dive m...
It is simple, some things do not work, but compared to more expensive hotels in Sorong this is quiet, seaview rooms are available, wifi in the dining room and near the reception. Breakfast consists of fried buns, sweet and savoury and sweet tea or coffee. I recommend it to budget travellers who will like the very friendly and helpful staff and the quiet location.
This was by far the best holiday ive had all year! Words cannot describe how beautiful the location of this bungalow was! And how welcoming and friendly martin's family is:) They picked me up from the ferry and we went by boat to Famangkor Homestay, where i was received with a fresh coconut they had picked for me. The food was delish and with huge portions. Service was...
On the way back from Raja Ampat I stayed the night in this family home. Don't expect any more than you got at the islands. Basic room but comfortable mattress and clean! Showers work's with the buckets. But the warm welcoming and the friendly service was perfect. I got a dinner for small money which was really good (well, fish, rice and veggies) and I spent some time t...

Good points: * Close to the airport * Free shuttle (only pay for entry 5k) * Inexpensive * Close to eating and shopping Bad points: * Cleanliness seems to be a challenge - the wall still had the spatter of the previous guest on it * Only one device code for WiFi per room - tricky when there are two of you * Aircon is on a time timer that can not be switched off - will ...
