West Sumatera hotels & places to stay

Travelled with 4 adults and 2 young children, booked 2 twin bed rooms. This was ok for my group. Rooms were rather clean for Indonesian standards. Staff ok and helpfull. Small swimming pool, nice locations at a market/shopping street. Buffet breakfast was rather good. Comfortable beds. Nice for little children. Strange they locked the key room every day, and we had to ask them to activate the keys again every day. But in general, as experienced Indonesia traveller, I enjoyed my stay here. Tip : special for this hotel : dont let any valuables unlocked in your room. Put wallets in your suitcase and lock it if you leave the room. A bad experience was the reason for us to leave the hotel earlier then planned.

i brought my family total 8 people from 3 years old children to 75 years old. i and my kids stay in this room, while my parents stay on next room (deluxe). the room is clean, even we can smell paint lightly, due its still all new. the view from window is also very good, especially during sunrise. i would suggest to take higher level to have better view. the swimming pool - while still new, but seems not designed really well. water are flooding in the toilet's floor and difficult to change clothes in the swimming pool's toilet. also, we have to really monitor the kids playing around the pool, since no dedicated guardian / hotel staff watching them playing in the pool. the food is very good. it's like combination of standard hotel food and native west sumatra food. don't be afraid to try each of them :) aside from that, in general, this is a good (best?) hotel in bukittinggi. hotel is still improving (some are still in finishing). happy to stay there.

Location of the hotel was a bit far from the center of the city center but it was ok since the view of the hotel was great. It was like in the uphill and we can see the view down there and mountains far away. It was kinda property in Ubud, Bali with greens view where ever you lay down your eyes. The hotel has three type of room; superior, family suite and bungalow. Me and my family stayed in family suite room. The room was spacious, has one queen size bed and two singles bed, unfortunately this type of room doesn't have balcony like superior and bungalow. Too bad, the lighting of the room kinda poor, they must improve this. The hotel itself is kinda old property (with few stain in the bathroom) but I like the decoration which was brownish and it uses parquette on the floor since Bukittinggi is kinda cold. But the hot water went well so we feel very relaxed once we got showered. They serve you fried rice with fried noodle in day 1, fried rice vermicelli in day 2, sunshine egg, cereals for kids, milk, tropical fruit (papaya, watermelon and melon) for breakfast which taste standard. After all, this hotel is very worth the money we spent. If you ask me whether i'm gonna stay again in this hotel if i come back to Bukittinggi or not, i'd definitely say yes.

We stayed at the Hotel Pangeran City, Padang, Indonesia for a scientific seminar. The Seminar was actually held at the Hotel Pangeran Beach; same management I think. We didn't get enough room for our group at the Hotel Pangeran Beach when we booked, so we tried to searh for other hotel, and we decided to book the rooms at the Hotel Pangeran City. Our considerations were that the hotel is located in the city center, not too far from the venue of the seminar, the rate is affordable, and the pictures of the hotel condition looks good. We were quite happy with the hotel when we arrived. The staffs were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable; I enjoyed the nice local/traditional breakfast. Good value for the room rate. The location is easy to reach by public transportation, and close to the local gift/souvenir shop and local food shop.

This is a new hotel, one of the main reasons I'm giving it a try against the recommendation of a local. The room is ok and new (of course), but a number of things are not to my liking. 1) The flooring within the room and outside at the aisle on each floor. As it is tiled with no carpet, it is the worse combination when patrons wear its provided in-house slippers. Every now and then, you can here the dragging sounds of slippers when there's someone walking outside. 2) There's no electronic doorbell but a kind of a pendulum hanging at the door. This cause it to knock and sound every time the door is open/close. Also, the closing of the door is very loud, especially a nuisance at night. 3) There's no shower curtain. While showering itself was good, the consequence is a partly wet restroom overflowing to the toilet bowl area. 4) The lobby is a little messy especially during the breakfast as the lounge is right beside the check in/out counter. And the direction of the hotel facing close to east means that if you are waiting for pickup at the lobby in the morning, you are faced with frontal sunlight directly since the lobby is glass protected ... again without curtains. 5) I asked for laundry bag, but was told it is "sold off". Didn't know we need to actually purchase a laundry bag?? 6) Breakfast variety not much, there's only about 5 or 6 food trays/bins for main course, and this includes one for rice and another for mee/noodles. 7) Hotel aisles are not air-conditioned, and it becomes stuffy in the afternoon. Now, these are not so much of a complaint, but in general a feedback. I rated the hotel fairly well. However, why do I have so much feedback? Simply because I had tried another hotel at Padang right before I checked in to Amaris Padang. Perhaps, Amaris would be better run over the months since they are still in its infancy just after opening for a month or so.

Neae to everything in Padang, from outside look like a small hotel , but go inside planty of rooms at the back . Peaceful and nice environment inside. Spacious room, nice good size bathroom for the price that I paid . The only letdown is the breakfast, too simple , taste ok but not great. But in gourmet city like Padang, you can just take gojek or hop in Grabcar/Taxi to explore other nice breakfast outlet scattered around the city, for those who dare , roadside stall is a galore of taste to be explored.

Room not sound proofing when people outside talking can hear very clear. If room facing road there is big noisy when the peak hour begin. Very Basic there is no tea making facilities, but there is always a coffee and tea available at the lobby i guest it for welcome drink and i always ask for coffee there the staff give for free for gesture. The wifi just ok not high speed but still ok for communication using internet. This hotel seen renovated few house to become hotel and no elevator, if room at 3rd floor need to use staircase. The staff and the service is great. Worth to pay, basic need with economy rate

Very nice small hotel. Room is big, bright and clean. Compared to other hotel around, this hotel's Superior room is bigger and has comfy facilities. Excellent value for money.... Good location in city center and very near to the Padang beach. Had nice morning stroll and swim at the beach, kids are very happy. Internet is free and most importantly fast and stable. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included and service is . Overall stay is excellent Will definitely come back to stay at this hotel.

I can say that this is the most beautiful hotel designs in Padang with great environment, good foods in restaurant and good service staffs. I checked out the next day to another hotel but I came back to D Oxville with my pyjamas and requested I that I wanted to stay in again to room. Unluckily the room was occupied but they tried their best to keep it for me the next morning. They did it. Their trustworthy touched my heart when I said I will buy straight away and please give me the room I wanted. So I able to go back to this hotel with the only balcony room of the hotel. It was a very memorable time in this hotel. Highly recommended. All were okay. Only the bathroom with less design. I will go back to the hotel again if I fly to Padang. Free WiFi, comfort room, comfort bed, good foods in restaurant, nice environment, sunbath beds, nice nemos pool and great staffs. Thumbs up to D Oxville Hotel. Keep it up. Oh ya. I found few lipas in room but I managed to kill it. No big deal and no complaint about it. Cheers.

This is a nice, boutique hotel in a pretty good location. It has a number of restaurants across the road and the beach is only a short walk away (with many simple food stalls - nasi goreng, mee goreng, drinks). A further walk takes you to the river (south) or central shopping district (west). It's an interesting town and worth the visit for one night or two. The Superior Rooms are extremely small but okay. The pool is also small. But the hotel is very tastefully arranged with nice plants, water features, sitting areas and pleasant music. The management seems good also. Breakfast was only Indonesian fare and could be improved, but is okay. Given the poor reviews of all hotels in town, we were happy with this choice. We nearly chose the Mercure but glad we didn't - it's too far away from everything.

The price was affordable for a family of three. We can walk to the beach and stalls near it around 15 minutes only. There's a food stall in front of the hotel also. Actually quite a lot stalls. Halal and non-halal stalls accessible by walking. There's a hot water and air conditioned. We get free breakfast also as per booking statement. Need to pay 200k rupiah for security deposit but I'm short of rupiah thus head back to Malaysia next day and just giving RM40 for security deposit. Overall is okay

I can’t say how much I loved this place, from the staff to the atmosphere, food, room cleanliness, and hospitality were amazing. This is probably one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I would go out of my way just to stay here again if given the opportunity. The building itself is wonderful and then they put a trendy hotel/bar in it. Beds/restrooms are comfy and clean, the staff is fantastic. Stay here!!!

nice clean hotel with frienly staff but the lift is way too far behind from the lobby. corridor via restaurant is a bit narrow so if you're with big bag, take the left corridor (via surau). one lighting power switch that control lighting switch and power plug switch in a room. so if you switch off this lighting switch at night the plug then your tv is off too!!! as for food, fast food outlet (cfc) is infront of hotel and a 'padang food shop' nearby. within a walking distant (600m) is a shoping paradise where everything is sold here. with hundred of shops.... just choose what you want but then price is bit expensive compare to bukitinggi. angkutan is just outside if you're tired after shopping. overall i recomended this hotel if shopping is on your list.

Not as expected. Was given different unit , not as per picture. Old building and a bit run down. Disappointed coz no water heater and they don't even provide toiletries. No sofa provided because the living hall is too cramp. Breakfast was good though , however it was packed and sent to your unit. No dining area in our 3BR unit. Imagine that you have to seat on the floor to have your breakfast.

We really enjoyed our stay in this places In fact we extend our stay for one more night,it's so beautiful around the hotel,wich is the hotel right in the middle two mountain Singgalang and merapi,the Staff are really helpful and friendly,two things let it down are the breakfast not much choise,,the nasi goreng is cold,and they only breakfast for Western is only toast bread,and they don't have international tv channel,other that that it is a great place to spend a quiet holiday with the love one
