Resorts in Choengmon

"My husband and I stayed at Melati for 5 nights on our Honeymoon in February 2013. The resort was so much more than what we expected. We were both so happy to have such a beautiful place to relax and wind down from the hectic planning of our Wedding. We were so pleased with the entire stay that we are determined to make Melati a regular destination. After a long string of flights from Australia to Koh Samui, it was great to be picked up from the airport by the resorts limousine service. We were so jet lagged and sick of being in transit, it was nice to be greeted by the friendly driver of a very new Landcruiser complete with icy cold towels and cold water (sooo nice on such a hot day). On arrival at the resort, we were greeted with many smiling faces and beautiful surroundings. Every inch of the resort is breathtaking! We were taken over to the lounge area in the alfresco style reception where we were given more icy cold towels along with delicious homemade iced tea (I have no idea what flavour it was but it was amazing! Please let me know if anybody else does!!!). Our room was the Pool Villa & was really awesome. The photos on the websites don’t even do this resort justice. Everything about it feels relaxing, luxurious & happy! My very favourite part of Melati would have to be the gardens and decore. Everything is so well thought out and it creates the best atmosphere. The restaurants are designed so nicely and the service and food quality are second to none! Loved the swim up bar and the view from it was great! I can honestly say that Melati Beach Resort is by far the best place I have ever stayed!!!! "

"The hotel facility was perfect. Room condition was perfect. Great Location. Very clean and Nice swimming pool. A nice restaurant with a wonderful food and view. Just want to say it was so so perfect staying here. For the most, the staffs are so so kind and they are professional. (My son got a small accident, they did a great treatment there and they took us to the hospital immediately. I felt so glad I was staying in that hotel.) Just want to say again, It was the best hotel not only in Koh Samui, but in Thailand."

"We booked terrace suite but actually were upgraded to pool suite. The terrace suites are located in 1st and 2nd floors which are less luminous and have not nice views. On the contrary pool suites are in the 3rd floor and some of them have some sea view. We were upgraded because the hotel forgot to pick us up at airport since they seemed not to have read or special request in the agoda booking. Spacious room with jacuzzy, solarium terraze and private pool. The location of the hotel is in the best first line area of central Choengmon beach. Staff is very friendly and attentive."

"we stayed in a sala pool villa for 10 nights during our honeymooning june this year. we had an absolutely amazing time and would definitely go back. the whole resort was beautiful, very well looked after and very clean. choosing the sala pool villa was definitely the right choice. we loved our 'outside' bathroom and had no privacy concerns whatsoever. the bedroom felt very luxurious and the bed was super comfy and massive! we did get a few mosquito bites overnight, though as part of the turn down service the hotel staff do spray the room and light an insect repellant incense. it was amazing having our own pool, sun loungers and day bed and we spent most of the time in our own pool area. it got sun almost the full day, especially if you're willing to move your sun loungers around a bit! we did spend our last day at the main pool area (there are 2 communal pools) and also loved that. again the staff were super friendly and handed round iced water, some pineapple and even a taster cocktail. the breakfast was very good, with anything you could want, including a large variety of fresh juice ranging from orange, apple, pineapple to very exotic juices such as lychee. we only ate in the restaurant twice apart from breakfast - once for lunch and once for dinner. our dinner experience was the only disappointing part of the stay. we booked for the sea food bbq and despite booking a table in advance, when we arrived our table was not set. it took 10 minutes for it to be fully set despite us asking repeatedly. although there was plenty of pre-prepared food, we were also disappointed at the quantity of seafood available for bbq-ing. this put us off eating there for dinner again and preferred to eat outside the hotel where there were some lovely and very reasonable restaurants in choengmon, both on the beach and main street. captains choice and a smaller thai restaurant on main street (next to gift shop). we would highly recommend sala samui and choengmon. "

"I've been at Akaryn two times. First one i booked from theirs web site and stayed 4 or 5 days. And second time when i was back from other island i booked from Agoda. So they exactly knew i'm repeat costumer. But they downgraded my room to more simple version of their great selection. Room table was messy cleaned, there fork and knife in wooden plate but few days ago there is fruits, napkins etc... It ruined my that lil but cuz i'm back from very uncomfortable place and expected same room. But i'll measure my agoda review by my first visit. I have to say that rooms are great! very big, many options to light, clean and comfortable, great breakfast, cheap good condition bike rent. They have all essentials that 5 star small luxury hotel has to offer!"

"We spent a long weekend at the Tongsai Bay and did not want to leave. It was an amazing, completely relaxing and wonderful weekend, and we would highly recommend this hotel. The best thing about the Tongsai Bay is the staff. We have traveled quite a bit in Asia, and without question the staff at the Tongsai Bay were the nicest, warmest and most helpful of any place we have been. Every single person we encountered was genuinely friendly and wanted to help with any of our needs. In many southeast asian hotels, the staff are all smiles but completely clueless and basically useless. Not so at the Tongsai Bay! The staff all speak English and are exceptionally well trained. From the front desk, to the restaurant, to the room staff, to the pool and beach guys, the staff made our stay truly memorable. The second best thing about the Tongsai Bay is its location. Being situated on a private bay is priceless. No one is trying to sell you anything on the beach, the whole place is very private, quiet and relaxing. The views are amazing. We only had a beach front suite, not one of the more luxurious cottages or villas. But both our room and our view were wonderful. The room was very large as was the balcony. The bath tub on the balcony was definitely fun. We really appreciated the personal extra touches, like treats left in the room at turndown, the fact that unlimited drinking water is provided, the fact that non-motorized water sports are free (they will even give you free sailing and windsurfing lessons). We also liked the common room with pool table and very large selection of DVDs to borrow and watch in your room. The internet cafe provides free internet. After staying at so many hotels where you feel as if they're doing their best to rip you off by charging you for every single small thing, the Tongsai Bay was so refreshing. We only left the hotel once during our long weekend stay, to go to Bophut for dinner. The rest of the time, we just did not want "

"We wanted a quiet, smaller resort on the beach, but near a quieter town than Chaweng- this was, for us, the perfect choice. The staff really do bend over backwards to make your stay the best they can. The restaurant is amazing- the food and service really are excellent; we ate there a number of times. Wine is not cheap, but that’s the same all over Thailand, not just at this hotel. I don’t really want to go on too much about this resort, as I selfishly want to keep it under wraps! But, you really would be mad to miss this wonderful hidden gem. We will definitely return!"

"i stayed here during songkran and absolutely loved it. we booked the cheapest room, just the standard bungalow, and was a bit worried after reading negative reviews, but found the bungalow to be very charming. the standard bungalows are located just off the resort right next to the restaurant but are situated directly on the beach. in fact, they had the best view out of all the rooms from what i could see. we were more then pleased with the value we received. the hotel itself was wonderful. the pool was great, and we spent many hours hanging out at the swim up bar. the hotel staff and owner were very friendly and genuinely seemed to care about their guests. we ate most of our meals at the hotel. the food was very good, the pad thai was one of the best i had in thailand. the location on choengmon beach was delightful. it was not nearly as touristy as the rest of the island. i look forward to staying here again.
