Arriving before midday was not an issue as we were promptly allowed to check in, adding to the overall convenience of our stay.

“Quaint canal-side stay in Kyoto”
Perfect location with walking distance to Gion, Kyoto station, and Nishki market. The neighbourhood was pocketed with restaurants, river view cafes, an adorable public bath, and what we could only tell was potential studio spaces for the nearby art school. The host was very helpful and welcoming when we checked in, and the accommodation itself was great value for our 6 night stay. It’s an older house with second floor access only, but well maintained with a garden courtyard you can look down into. Shared bathroom and shower facilities were clean and worked well, but retained some staining and odour. It had kitchen access, coin laundry on site, and would be great for solo or group travellers, and budget travel. There were great resources and utilities available - city guides, umbrellas to use, individual toiletries if needed. Our only note was the rooms in the front of the house facing the road can hear the ding dong of the public exchange building nearby which operated from about 8:30am until 9:30pm - not a problem when you’re out sightseeing most of the day but it was decently noticeable if you were there during those times. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others!
