Romena Grand Hotel is excellent value for Money”

Romena Grand Hotel was much easier to find. It is located accross the Chiang Mai Gate corner. Reception Staff was very courteous in providing me early check in as I was changing from another Hotel in Chiang Mai. Staying at 3 hotels in Chiang Mai, I think it is the best selection out of the lot. Nice Restaurent and breakfast included. Room Service was great. I would reccomend this hotel for tourist who go to discover north Thailand.

Beautiful Hotel with first class service”

during songkran (thailand's new year celebration) i stayed in romena with 5 friends. we are all in our early 20s and this hotel was perfect for us. the concierge spoke better english then did some of the 4 star hotel's in bangkok. they were extremely helpful in organizing a van to take us to a day spa and telling us how to take public transportation to get to some of the sights in chang mai. the only downside of our stay was the breakfast buffet which was the same all three days and the soup and noodle dish both had bugs inside.

Great Hotel”

This hotel is fabulous. Service was spot on, even a last minute request to organize a driver for a day trip. Room was clean, though beds were somewhat uncomfortable. The safe should have been a larger, self-chosen PIN type safe. The location was great, right near the Chiang Mai gate and great street food!! Don't even bother with local restaurants, just eat the street food from the stalls on the moat. Overall, the hotel is fantastic value for the money. We will stay here again!

Meets basic needs, but not much else”

The Romena was our first hotel when traveling to Chiang Mai. It's in a nice location within a stone's throw from the south of the old city. The rooms were pretty sparse, and the front desk staff did not speak very good English. The breakfast buffet was nothing to write home about. But it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Free wifi worked well.

Fantastic rooms and wonderful staff!”

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel whilst looking for permanent accomadation in Chiang Mai. The staff were extremely polite and helped me with anything I needed. The rooms were a good size and very clean. I will definately stay in this hotel again! Thanks to all the staff!

Friendly, convenient hotel in Chiang Mai”

Excellent value for the money, staff were very helpful and kind. Front desk speaks English which is helpful when you don,t speak the Language. We highly recommend this hotel . Returned twice as travelling in and out of Chiang Mai. In our travels in Thailand, this was one of the best we have been to. Washrooms were excellent and clean, lovely showers, fairly new facility.

Good quality with decent pricing, location is ok”

I have stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The room is clean and the overall quality of this hotel was more than I paid for. The hotel staff is very friendly and speak good English. Although my request was very last minute, they kindly organized my travel tour. I am very pleased to stay at the hotel. Wi-Fi is strong both in the lobby and hotel rooms. In terms of its location, although it is right near the old city of Chiang Mai, the main busy area is on the different side of the old city which takes quite long time to get there by foot. I have rent the motorbike (right near the hotel), and so going to different places was easy and smooth. if you only intend to just walk around, it becomes a bit tiring and time wasting. All the rooms are non-smoking and you need to step outside for smoking every time. It is not convenient for smokers.

Clean and friendly staff”

Great location and clean”

This is just south of the Chiang Mai gate, outside of the old city, so it's very convenient if you want to do things in the old city. It was a 1 minute walk to the Saturday Night Market. It's not near the the east side of the wall, where most of the touristy hotels are, but it's only a short (and cheap) taxi ride away. The place is pretty clean, although they will not change your sheets unless you specifically ask. Breakfast is pretty good. And the bathroom is very clean.

Spacious rooms, amiable staff and great service”

do not expect luxury. the view and their facilities are not fantastic. rooms are very simple but really spacious. if you want a quiet and peaceful place to stay after long tiring day, Romena Grand hotel would be good for you. They have friendly staffs and they do what you instruct them to do. they are also very considerate.

Better options available”

Good location - once you can find it! Tucked in a side street and then up an alley with limited signage from the main road made it difficult to find in the fading light. Once there it was easy to get around. Room was clean bit the BIG drawbacks of this hotel are the acoustics and the ignorant noisy guests would were yelling and shouting late at night and very early in the morning. Thin walls allowed me to lay in bed and listen to the telephone conversation of the next door occupant and then her TV selection. Internet was extremely slow and ended up using my 3G phone which was much faster. No 3 pin plug in the room to plug in a laptop charger that requires an earthed connection unless the bar fridge was pulled out for access. Would I stay there again? No, there are better options available in Chiang Mai.

There was nothing wrong with my stay at the Romena Grand. As a single traveller I picked the wrong hotel. For me there was no atmosphere what so ever and breakfast was not good.

nice hotel”

service was good. No problemshotel is ok. I enjoyed the breakfast. I thought location was pretty good being mid way between night bazaar and right next to small market for eating. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were nice but could probably have more of a selection on the TV channels. No problem with the hotel , maybe a bit on the high side regarding the price

Grand Indeed!”

This has to be the nicest hotel I stayed in during my trip for the budget I was on. The staff were friendly and a butler carried my bag to the room. The room and hallways were very modern and clean. The room was large with a window overlooking the city. The shower and aircon worked well. Breakfast was the usual fruit selection with a choice of cooked meal and tea/coffee. All in all rather posh! The name fits the bill.

Central but very hard to find”

This hotel is very close to Saturday walking street in Chiang Mai and close to the old town which makes it very central. The rooms are spacious and clean, the bed reasonably comfortable but small. The breakfast was stone cold - I think it would have been OK if they'd managed to keep it warm! The air conditioner in our room was either off or really freeszing cold - the fan did not work on it so it was constantly at full force. Neither did the angle director so it was fully directed onto our heads all night. If we did not have this we had to turn it off all together and then the room was stifling. We asked for it to be fixed and the attendant said it had been but it was not and when we told them not to let that room again until it was fixed, we were met with a sly smile and no response. For the price, if the aircon worked and if the breakfast was hot as it should have been, then the hotel would have been good value. It was such a shame that these two things really spoiled our stay.

clean and comfortable but needs some character”

This is our third time staying here and we always have to same reaction. in a city with lots of nice boutique hotels we seem to end up here when our other favorites are booked. rooms are clean and comfortable, but totally stark, without so much as a picture on the walls. very basic breakfast and the staff seems very indifferent toward the guests. not bad though for a night or so if you just want a good nights sleep. good location just outside the Chaing mai gate

Good location and cheap”

Cheap hotel, well located near Chiang Mai Gate. The hotel is very sparse though. Bed in a room. No extra seating, no hotel toilet outside of room (send you across from the hotel to a filthy, stinkpit), cold breakfast with limited options. Overall cheap for a reason. The room was clean though, and so if you are looking for a quick stop somewhere cheap this may fit the bill.

Muslim friendly hotel”

The room was big and very clean. The hotel has signs for muslim travelers to refer to when they need to pray, i think this is very thoughtful. The only not-so-good thing is that when I wanted to shower in the morning, the water came out from the water heater was not hot.

Great place but shame bout the air con!!!”

We had a pleasant stay here, very clean hotel very friendly staff. The only issue we found with the hotel was that the air con had only one speed, temperature(16degrees) and only one direction for blowing the air( straight onto our bed!!) which made it fairly hard to sleep as when we turned it off it got very hot very fast!! Maybe we just got a bogey unit. Other than that I would def reccommend this hotel.
