“Exceptional”
For 3 to 4 months of the year, I stay at hotels. Until now, I had never left a review for any accommodation in Korea or abroad, but this time my mom insisted that I leave one, so here I am. Please keep in mind that this is purely a subjective review based on personal feelings. To get to the conclusion, the Sano-ya Hotel is the best accommodation I have experienced. It is located about a 3 to 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station, and of course, there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around. The double room is much larger than a typical hotel, and I think it can accommodate up to four people if you add a futon. The toilet and bathroom are separate, and there is a bathtub as well. The large public bath was available until 12:30, and though it was small, it was a perfect place to relax after traveling (there is also a small dry sauna room). When I went for breakfast, a delicious meal was already prepared, and I could help myself to bread and a few side dishes buffet-style. I was also very satisfied with the taste and cleanliness of the food. Every staff member was friendly, and they even kept my luggage until 3 PM after check-out. I've been to many larger and nicer hotels, but it is rare to find a place as comfortable and perfect in every aspect as this one. The Sano-ya Hotel offers free services such as bathing, dining, luggage storage, and coffee service in the lobby, aside from sleeping (breakfast is paid, but it was included in my room price). I was slightly worried about the cleanliness of the tatami floors, but the cleaning condition was very good. It may not be an enormous luxury hotel built with cutting-edge designs, but for my mom and me, it was a perfect hotel where we slept well, ate well, and had a wonderfully relaxing experience. I want to go back to Kyoto just to stay at the Sano-ya Hotel again. I highly recommend it if you visit Kyoto.
