“Unique experience you can't miss”

Things I like
We stayed at Salt + Earth for 3 nights, our only wish was that it had lasted for longer! Where to start; The house is practically straight out of a magazine. Nathan built/finished it himself, and has impeccable taste. He and partner Debbie were very non-intrusive, but always around if you need anything. He can answer any/every question about Fiordland and will make sure the time you spend there is everything you want it to be. He booked everything for us and knew all the best companies to work with and/or experiences to take. The room you'll stay in is quite large, with a walk in wardrobe and a beautiful bathroom. The whole thing, including the bathroom opens up to the stunning lake and mountains view in front of the house. The house has Sonos through-out, and the hot-tub is a must (especially in winter). The food cooked by Nathan is by far the best you'll eat within a 2 hour radius. It's all fresh (either out of the garden, out of their chickens or the deer he had caught in preparation for our stay). Where else can you get fresh venison home cooked by an artisan for your daily breakfast?! The share platters in the evening were equally as divine, and so big that we didn't really feel like we needed dinner afterwards. Maybe that was just because we were so content sitting back in front of the roaring fire with a complementary hand-picked local red? Nathan knew all the best bits of the South Island and made sure to deliver it in the short 3 days we were there. Don't let yourself miss out on the experience of staying with him in his gorgeous abode and learning about the South Island in the process.

“Very comfortable stay with great view of the mountains in a very modern Nordic style home.”

Things I like
Nathan, the owner was extremely helpful, went way out of his way to accommodate us. Gave very helpful tips on sightseeing, made wonderful breakfasts of our choice every day. Very ultra modern room with significant automation.
Things I don’t like
I can't think of anything in particular, although for a newly wed couple, it may not be the most romantic place for honeymoon. We have been married for 37 years, so that was not an issue for us.

“Relaxing, comfortable, enjoyable. Could’ve stayed much longer.”

Things I like
Everything here is beautifully thought out. The rooms are excellent, the bed very comfortable, the ensuite and shower lovely. The location is perfect. Lovely peaceful outlook to the lake, but still close to the shops and restaurants. Our host, Nathan, is welcoming, friendly and helpful. He prepared delicious breakfasts and an evening tasting platter. We will definitely stay there next time.
Things I don’t like
There was nothing we didn’t like.

“What needs to be said has already been said above.”

Things I like
Nathan and Debbie give new meaning to attention to detail, commitment and passion for their chosen endeavour. B & B takes on a new dimension with a service that is personalised to the highest level. NZ is high cost and is elevated in peak tourist season but for a rare experience, and if you have the financial resources, this redescribes the ideas of luxury and human interaction. Use of home grown and locally acquired products combines with diligence and genuine interest in creating a totally unique stay. Do it.
Things I don’t like
Not a matter of not liking but jacked up tariff due to travel in peak season, especially in NZ, known for its expense, is daunting.
