our arrival at Sandalwoods was a relief following a harrowing night in a hut halfway up a tree in a jungle so the absence of resident rodents and presence of air-con and hot running water would have been pleasing enough. Sandalwoods, however, offered much,much more than merely the amenities to meet our basic needs. Our villa (the Malee) was spacious, maintained to a high standard and decorated with thought and flair and we particularly loved the big bathroom and walk in shower. Our inside-outside 'space' extended out through two sets of sliding doors to a more than adequate balcony/terrace running along two sides of the accommodation and folding screens ensured privacy when using our open air jacuzzi bath-beneath-the-stars (nice touch,guys!). The views over the island were difficult to comprehend they were so perfect and the infinity pool directly below our villa is exactly as it looks in the web site photos - in fact, no photo could do Sandalwoods justice. The breakfast was the best we had in Thailand and room service dinner was really special. Sandalwoods is at the top of a great big hill (as other reviews highlight) which is probably not to be attempted on foot but you can't get these views without a little height and free daily transport to nearby coral cove and chaweng resort means getting out and about isn't a challenge. Sandalwoods manages to combine luxury and privacy with a warm 'family' feeling from the staff team our week at Sandalwoods was the best of the three we spent in Thailand. See you in 2011!

Wow! Absolutely Amazing!”

Wonderful Experience! The staff made our 10 year anniversary very special. The Malee Villa was absolutely amazing! Very private! Large plunge infinity pool was a real treat. Outdoor jacuzzi with a view gave it an even better experience. Room service was prompt and the food from Blue Ginger restaurant was simply fantastic. All the staff were great. Always smiling and friendly and willing to make us happy and comfortable. Front desk with Tang, Sew, and R were awesome. They gave us each a free massage for putting up with a little construction noise next to our villa. Very much appreciated. The Sandalwood Spa was also excellent. Ann, Nga, and Da helped us relax during and after our many treatments. The special milk bath in our jacuzzi one evening was a real nice surprise. Kai and staff at the restaurant made dining each day something to look forward to. The pool villas are very amazing and we will definitely book for at least 7-8 nights next time we stay in Koh Samui! What a beautiful view and experience at Sandalwood! We highly recommend vacationing to unwind and relax here.

Excellent Service”

We apologize for the delay feedback. On the 7th of December, my friends with their 1 year old daughter, together with my wife and I was greeted at the airport for a complimentary transfer to Sandalwood Luxury Villas. The driver was friendly and shared with us about the areas we could visit in during our stay Upon reaching the villa, we were all greeted by the friendly staffs in the lobby and she explained to us in detail and assisted us with all our queries. The villas were exceptionally beautiful as the view is amazing(facing the sea) and it was very clean and spacious. As there are some upgrading works near our villa, as a token of consideration, the staff gave each of us a complimentary spa session! During our stay there, our friend's daughter was not feeling well and the staffs assisted us to make an arrangement to send the child to the hospital and it was such a breeze process with their help. We really appreciate the help given and will definitely come back again in future!

Breathtaking”

There is soooo much to say about Sandalwood Villas. It offers beautiful accommodation with absolutely stunning views. The main pool is beautiful and our Villa has a small but stunning private infinity pool. The staff are impeccable, and so lovely to be around. After 3 visits to Koh Samui and a handful of great hotels, Sandalwood Villas is by far the best and we will definitely return one day. Highly recommended.

amazing view over the ocean! Great house for stay!”

I was looking for one night's overstay at Koh Samui. And found Sandalwoods Villas, located high up on the mountain side, with a stunning views from all villa terraces. We stayed at a huge two bedroom house, the hotel's flagship, although we did not use both. It had a lovely balcony/terrace, where we had a great candlelight dinner under the stars, overlooking the bay and most of the island. Staff was highly service minded and helpful. Food and wine was good and not overpriced. The hotel provides transfer to and from hotel to airport, which is very convenient. Shuttle service to the beach is also available for a small charge. We will definitively come back to this lovely haven.

Great stay at Sandalwood”

My wife and I stayed at the Sandalwood Villas for 3 nights. We have stayed mostly at guest houses in China and Chiang Mai, and a 5-star in Singapore. We don't have the experience to compare Sandalwood with other resorts on Samui. I can say this...absolutely outstanding service, great private villas, and although out of the hustle and bustle of Chaweng, they are working hard to keep the beach easily accessible. The rooms, bed, shower, were all really nice. Each villa is private. You won't see anyone else. One stop at reception and our 1-day boat dive trip was set up...then they offered to make sandwiches for the us on the early boat trip. Car rental easily set up and ready the next day. Day of early morning departure to the airport and they made sandwiches again. We drove the island and got detailed help and places to see.

The perfect place to relax with amazing views”

Our villa was amazing! Breathtaking view, spacious, clean , beautifully decorated with everything you needed including from mosquito sprays to beach bag. I loved it and felt very relaxed there. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We even got a mobile phone given to us to call the driver anytime which was great although we felt oblige to use it and for Thailand was a little on the expensive side. Nevertheless it was great to have a friendly face pick us up and the cars were all 4x4 and very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Great breakfast selection of Western and Thai food. We had dinner there on a couple of nights and never disappointed with the quality of the Thai food was on par with many of the top restaurants in kho samui . The spa was very high quality and very good value. I had a lot of massages in Thailand and I have to say the massage I had at sandalwood was one of the best. Only thing is that it can get booked up quickly as a few days we couldn't get any appointments so make sure you book on arrival. Overall one of the best places i have stayed at and if I return to kho samui again I would definitely stay at sandalwood again

Honeymoon In Paradise”

We started off our honeymoon in Koh Samui at Sandalwood based off of the great reviews. It is a small resort (8 villas I think) but the benefit is the quality of service. The staff goes out of their way to help you in any way they can. The location is great because you are away and above all the touristy stuff at Chaweng Beach, yet you are just a short cab ride away. The pool is amazing, room service is cheap, and of course, the view above overlooking the bay is priceless.

Fantasic. We we had styed longer”

It is hard to explain how much we enjoyed our stay. We have been coming to Thailand for 8 years, every year for a month, and now have found what we are looking for. We are already planning to stay next year(2015)for a longer amount of time. Sandalwood is in the middle of Lumai and Cheweng. They offer a free car service to both Lumai and Chaweng at allocated times. This is the first hotel that has given us a mobile to contact them to be returned back to the resort when needed at a small price. Our host, Robert, was fantastic. Both he and his staff made our stay perfect. The restaurant offered great value meals with flavors to match any town menu. Breakfast was made to order which solves the common fault of the dry and over cooked food sitting in a water bath. You need to see the views to get the perspective of how unique Sandalwood really is. They also offer free transfers to and from the airport, other hotels and don't charge for water at dinner. We are in a 5 star resort (Nora Buri) and they want to charge for water ++ and everything else. We wish we were back at Sandalwood before we return to Bangkok and then Australia. I would also recommend for families as there are options for larger rooms just in case you need a break form the kids. Please make the effort, it is worth it and you will not be disappointed.

Surprisingly friendly luxury resort”

We stayed two nights of our honeymoon in Sandalwood Villas and had a fantastic stay. The food and the staff are totally topp range and we highly recommend this great hotel. Unfortunately we did not notice that we had to turn the sign outside our villa, to get it cleaned.. Our loss. We had the Plumeira room, and this is the one-bedroom villa, with the smallest pool, but close to the reception area and a public pool. Next time we will choose Malee or Jupee. The place is used, but well taken care of, and they have a very nice thai-interior-style. We love Sandalwood!

Great small Hotel with a stunning view”

We stayed as a group of three in the Jasmine Villa. We had two king size beds on two floors, a large bathroom and a big balcony with a stunning view on the island and ocean. The hotel consists of a few villas that are placed over the hill. I really liked the facilities. Everything is done with love for detail. The staff is very friendly and always assists, if you need help with anything. We booked our ferry and a scooter via the reception with no additional costs. The Villas are located between Chaweng and Lamai Beach on top of a hill. It is very exhausting to walk up the hill, but there is always a shuttle that will pick you up at any time from the bottom of the hill at the main road. Also there is a free shuttle to either Chaweng or Lamai Beach at certain times during the day. And the cars will bring you to the close-by beaches at any time during day. The only negative aspect about our stay was the breakfast. It was a very small buffet, that leaked of any variety.

Beautiful Sandalwood”

The villas are located in a mountainside village overlooking the most spectacular sea views. We stayed in Orchid Villa which was beautiful. The spa was amazing, I've never experienced anything quite like it and the prices are reasonable too. The restaurant serves great food. Definitely the perfect place to stay and away from the touristy area of Koh Samui.

Worth your money!”

The villa was really spacious and it was always kept clean by the friendly staff. Me and my friend got a villa for 4 persons with 2 bedrooms and a private pool. The location also provides a peaceful and quiet scene contrary to central Koh Samui, although, this also meant that it was harder to get back to and from the villa when out later at night. Overall, the staff were very accommodating and the villa provided a nice escape from busy city life.

Amazing villa with amazing view”

We (4 adults and a 5-month old baby) stayed in a villa for 5 nights; we can only recommend this place as everything was perfect. From the excellent breakfast to the shuttle service, from the swimming pool to the staff, we couldn't ask for more! We will make sure to come back to Sandalwood should we return to Samui

Yes you can find many other places on the island for the price being charged, but Sandlewood is worth every single cent. The experience and memories that was created during my stay, from the uniquely decorated rooms to the jaw dropping view overlooking the ocean will be in my thoughts for the many months to come. Everything was amazing, the staff , services and transportation my stay was only for 4 days and i was soo sad leaving the island because of the hotel... and hopefully next time i will plan extra days to be able to stay at the hotel more than just discovering the island. Exceptional”

The service here is unbelievable great. We stayed in the Dao Ruang villa, a two bedroom deluxe pool villa. They have high ceilings and very spacious rooms with a full kitchen. The master bedroom has a huge Jacuzzi big enough for two. I left a binder there with my work stuff, and a week later they had found my address and returned it to my home in Samui. I highly recommend this place for group stays.

Beautiful property, great staff”

Went here for our Honeymoon in April. We stayed in the Malee villa and it was breathtaking - the view from our balcony and infinity pool was awe inspiring. Everything was clean, the staff was extremely hospitable and accommodating. We met the owner Robert and he was very nice too; great to see the owner taking pride in his place. One thing to be aware of is that this property is basically on a mountain, and while the property provides free shuttle service 4 times a day to/from Chaweing and Lamai centers (and unlimited shuttles between hotel and a small nearby radius such as Coral Beach), if you want to get to/from hotel outside of the shuttle times, you need to pay extra (though you do get a free voucher on check in). If you take a regular taxi back to the hotel, they will either refuse or charge you higher because of the fact that the drive up to hotel is extremely steep and not all cars can make it up. My wife and I made the trek up from the main road. Trust us, don't do it :)

We absolutely loved our stay at Sandalwood Villa. Robert, his family, and the staff all went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We loved the view, the food, the independence of having our own house but also the convenience of a restaurant and a taxi service all so accessible.
