“Dirty, unsafe, no hot water - skip this unless you want your holiday ruined”
Extremely disappointing stay, especially given the price. Cleanliness: The property looks far better in photos. In reality it felt grubby and poorly maintained. Furniture is basic and dated (yellowing, scratched, worn). Overall it did not feel clean or worth what we paid. Shared entry & safety issue: Parking and entry are shared with another unit (Star View House). On our second night, new guests next door mistakenly opened our door and entered our unit due to unclear check-in instructions. Very shocking and uncomfortable. No hot water: First night around 10pm there was no hot water — freezing shower. We messaged that night and again the next day and was ignored by the staff who responded only with checkout instruction for the next day. Hot water fortunately worked the second night, with no explanation. Completely unacceptable. Poor communication & inconvenient checkout: Check-in instructions were only sent close to 4pm after repeated follow-ups. Checkout requires driving to their office to return keys. Overall, the most expensive yet worst accommodation we stayed in. Strongly recommend booking elsewhere in Tekapo.
