Great hotel and location!”

We stayed at Sugar Marina Resort - Art - Karon Beach for 7 days. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Karon Beach, away from the beachfront, and at the end of a little road which was great since the hotel surroundings were quiet! The Hilton and Movenpick are closer to the beach but Sugar Marina has better access to convenience stores, food carts, massage salons, and restaurants. There's also a temple down the road that had a night market. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with various types of breads, cereal station, fruits, sausages, bacon, noodles, fried rice, and an egg station. The potatoes, fried rice, and noodles recipes were changed daily. There were a few occasions where the elevator didn't work (and our room was on the top floor, 4th) but it was a minor inconvenience. When it was down, there were maintenance people working on it right away.

Overall Sugar Marina Resort is excellent. The staff will go out of their way to make you happy. I requested to change my room - as I wanted something backside and more quiet - and they accommodated my request and I was really happy with the new room. Particularly Bo and Pepsi were both really nice and helped anyway they could. Also the Breakfast staff were incredibly friendly and great service. My only complaint: a specific night time male staff. Not sure his name. Balding (or shaved head Thai of course), late 20s early 30s. When checking out - I was late for my flight and he would not let me leave until they had checked the room. This was fine but he told the taxi driver I couldn't leave and basically forced me to wait, and was being very aggressive toward me. I told him to put any outstanding charges on my CC card which they had but he refused. I ended up missing my flight. Not entirely his fault, as I woke up late, but he certainly didn't help the situation and he was completely unapologetic about it all. However above withstanding Sugar Marina Resort - Art - Karon Beach is a great hotel, they have a fantastic staff, pool, breakfast, location and I highly recommend as a place to stay. I will definitely stay here again when I am back in Phuket.

Highly recommended this Resort Hotel. Quiet and relaxing. Accessible to Karon Beach (the best). Food and music were just around the areas. You can take a stroll and walk. Breakfast was definitely good. Their staffs eapecially the receptionist when we arrived was very accommodating. We will be back soon and will surely stay at Sugar Marina Resort Art... Missing the relaxing place.. till next time. Thank you to all the staffs..

First time and want to go back! ”

I booked this hotel 2 hours before I got to it due to a dive trip issue so I was pleasantly surprised by the deal I got. The location is perfect! Almost right at the Karon Beach round about. I was on the pool side with a balcony. Excellent breakfast! Nice size room. Very clean. Has an elevator. They have a nice restaurant at the front of the street too. This hotel is down a side street so it's quiet. Quite a few kids were enjoying the pool, as were the adults. Lounge chairs are available poolside. The Karon Beach area itself is great for families. There is easy access to the beach with multiple play areas for kids and multiple volleyball nets. I really enjoyed this hotel. If I make it back to Phuket, I'll try to stay here. Beware though, prices for transport between Karon Beach and Patong are 400-800 baht! I used Grab Taxi and got there for 190 but couldn't find a taxi home so paid the tuk tuk 400 baht for 4.9 km. Painful. Uber doesn't work in Phuket. This is peak tourist season so it's quite expensive.

Our stay in Sugar Marina Art was pleasant, memorable and relaxing. Love the art installations and little creative details. Love our poolside room! Simply lovely! The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful in every way. I will always remember Rang, who always made sure that we had a good our breakfast. The location was also great. It was walking distance to Karon Beach and since it was centrally located, going to other beaches like Kata was fast and easy. Would definitely recommend to friends.

4 night stay in Karon”

My partner and I have just returned for a 4 night stay at Sugar Marina Art Resort. Our expectations were not super high and we were expecting cheap and cheerful, a little bit basic however we were pleasantly surprised by the room- a large, comfortable bed, spacious shower, nice decor and you are provided with handy extras such as beach mat and umbrellas. There are plenty of nice restaurants and bars on the doorstep and the beach is just across the road. Our view overlooked the road and other hotel rooms opposite which wasn't as nice as a garden view but it didn't spoil anything really. The pool is also very nice and not too busy. Staff were very helpful and polite. All in all good value for money.

very happy to have my 4d3n holiday with sugar palm karon resort. 24 hour internet provide by wifi or lan line, and it provide mac mini portable for each room and it's free of charge!! i can sure tis is the service that u cant get from other resort by paying the same price. and all their crew is very friendly and helpful when we request to have some service, highly recommend to every one and million thanks to all the staff in sugar palm resort coz they very honest when my boyfriend leave his phone in the room after we changer room. if have chance to visit phuket again. i will choose to stay here again.

Nice hotel with great service staff”

It was my second stay at the Sugar Marina Resort and I definitely appreciated the free upgrade to a deluxe pool view room. The hotel was near the beach, close to many eateries and convenience stores nearby and just a short 10 minute motorbike ride away from Jungceylon Mall. The staff were friendly, polite and willing to help. I can't remember all the names of the staff but I would like to commend Pang, who was the one who attended to my request and it was nice to know that she remembered me from my earlier stay this year. Overall it was a great stay and thumbs up to all the staff at the Sugar Marina. I will be back again next year!

Best of the best”

Sugar marina is the best hotel I've ever stayed in Phuket. You can enjoy to the max in this resort even though you don't need to pay much. The room is large and equipped with iMac systems which is connected to the TV. The breakfast comes in a variety of foods. It is next to the pub street but you won't hear any noises here. An awesome resort you can't miss if you come to Karon.

the sugar palm karon resort was the best place we stayed in phuket! with everything you'd expect from a much more expensive hotel, this place far exceeded our expectations! with resturants & bars just outside the hotel & the beach only 50m away, you can't beat it! the room was perfect & the staff were excellent! we will definately be back to stay in this hotel next time we are in phuket, & will be recommending it to anyone planning on traveling to phuket!

Well located, clean, nice helpful staff and good amenities”

We travelled to sugar marina for a 5 night stop with our 2 young children (2 and 4). Upon arrival we were given ice cream by reception whilst they checked us in, this was a nice touch as it was very very hot and we were all rather sticky after a day travelling in the heat. We booked a family room and were pleased upon arrival to find a nice big spacious main room with living area and 2 single beds, which adjoined the master bedroom with balcony, and bathroom area. Lots of room for us all and most importantly a separate enclosed bedroom for the kids so we could all sleep. The rooms are equipped and furnished to a high standard; we had 3 TVs in 2/s, 2 mini fridges (stocked daily free of charge), a sofa and all items we would require (hair dryer, beach towels, beach bag and mat, flip flops, robes, shower gel/shampoo). All areas of the hotel appear modern and well decorated, the kids loved the swimming pool. Overall very impressed, perfect family resort in an excellent location.

Great stay for a great price”

After a tiring journey we arrived at the Sugar Marina Art at about 7.30 am they let us check in early. The beds were comfy, pool great, staff friendly, great Wifi and an amazing breakfast. It also had a good location on the quiet Karon beach near to the Beach and Restaurants with markets all around. Great stay for a good price

We had a great time staying at Sugar Marina Resort. It was our first time in Phuket and would love to go back and stay at this hotel again. Nice buffet breakfast, great room although some power sockets were not working but other than that everything is great. We like the location too as it's just few minutes walk to the beach.

Highly Recommended Hotel for Family”

We really intended to stay at Karon beach area because it was one of the locations in Phuket which was less impacted by the previous tsunami and we were not totally disappointed. Location is a plus as it is near the beach, restaurants, money changers, transportation and everything. The family room is clean, big and spacious with free bottled water and mini bar. There were 2 sets of towels each guest, 1 towel that can be brought to the beach and 1 that can only be used inside the room. The beach mat provided by the hotel was so helpful as we were able to use it when we had our island hopping, a chair rental of 100THB per chair at the 2 islands might costs us more for 5 persons. The big swimming pool outside the building is superb! The kids love it. Staffs are so approachable and helpful. The wide range to choose for on the free buffet breakfast was amazing! We will definitely stay here again if we will be in Phuket.

I am already missing its bed”

I was in Phuket for a 2 day conference at the nearby Moevenpick. I'd pick Sugar Marina for its dirt cheap $40 a night accommodation and it's funky room and overall hotel design. It helps that Trip Advisor gave them high marks too. Have to admit, wasn't disappointed at all. From the ever smiling, helpful staff Aon and Game who attended my check in and check out to the big comfortable bed. I had initially wanted to explore the town on the first night but the bed was just too inviting for me to move anywhere out of room! Love how the free wifi was smooth throughout, really helped me with my last minute work to prepare for the conference, oh and that the room was spacious enough for 2 or even 3 persons! Only thing funny was that the bathtub was right out there next to the main door and not inside the toilet. Other than that, I am completely satisfied, toiletries includes cotton bud and that there are enough hangers in the closet. Oh its got bathrobes, umbrellas and slippers too. I also love how spacious the restaurant is for breakfast. Love the selection of pastries and yoghurt. Oh that weighing machine near the lobby's hallway? Nice customer service touch there. If I hadnt had to go back to cast my votes for the Singapore elections, I'd have extended my stay and stayed in bed a lot longer here :) In fact m still hearing the sound of crashing waves that lulled me to sleep then.

Booked a room with pool view, and turned up we had a free upgrade to a room with pool access! (: Loved the room as it is so convenient to go for a swim every morning. Staff are very polite and friendly as well, providing us with directions and help whenever we asked. On our last day in Phuket, they were so willing to provide us with a room for shower after our island hopping trip, even though we had already checked out. Location is excellent as well - just a 5 minutes walk to Karon beach, and a short walk to many restaurants with yummy food! Overall, my friends and I enjoyed our stay at the resort. We will definitely stay at this resort again when we return to Phuket!

Good value”

The Sugar Art was good value. it's in a good location, with in the bar/restaurant area, with a short walk to the beach I stayed in the cheapest room which was the deluxe. It was in the old wing and the my first impression not good with a unattractive entry and lift area in that building. The mat in the lift was dirty and while removed for cleaning occasionally was always looked dirty. However, I was surprised how good the room was. It was quite spacious and well maintained with good beds (2 singles to make a double). Air con was good as was bathroom with separate shower and bath. The pool was long (50m ?) but slim and could get a bit crowded. Some guests "reserved" their chairs for the day early with towels or other stuff, and it could be hard to find a chair at peak time. I didn't include the buffet breakfast, but tried it one morning and it was crowded, below average, and with a long wait for eggs. However, be aware there are not many early breakfast options in Karon.

I really enjoyed my time at the Sugar Palm Hotel in Karon Beach, Phuket. It is definitely the best hotel money has ever bought me. It was clean, staff were friendly, very close to the beach, and had a lovely buffet breakfast. They had movie rentals for free, free bottled waters, pool towels and even a balcony to catch the last bits of sun. It was recommended to us by some friends and I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it anyone heading out that way. Thanks to the staff who made our weekend so nice and relaxing!

Great hotel with nice Staff and free Wi-Fi”

I have no complaints about the Sugar Palm Karon Resort at all! In fact, everything went smooth and 4 of us ladies enjoyed our stay. The hotel is located in a very good strategic location and few mins away from Karon Beach. The Staff has been very understanding and helpful: our flight was in the evening and after check-ut, they allowed us to leave our luggages for a day and thereafter take shower in the hotel before the departure. Great breakfast with lots of choice daily. Free Wi-Fi everywhere. I highly recommend this hotel, good value for the money spent.

Xmas at Sugar Palm”

We would definitely stay here again. Sugar Palm was very modern, friendly staff, welcome drink, no hassles with anything. There is also a tour shop on the corner of the lane. They have really cheap deals- come to think of it, there is one inside the hotel as well. Karon beach is a lot quieter than Patong beach. They both have many shops and restaurants, massage places etc but in Karon sellers don't annoy you nearly as much as at Patong. STAY AT KARON. We did not dine/get breakfast at the hotel.
