the BEST in Chiang Mai”

warm service, exquisite, honeymoon special

Definitely the best in Chiang Mai! We tried 3 different hotels in Chiang Mai, and sent the "honeymoon couple" request at booking. The Rim is the one which really makes our stay special: upgrade to deluxe room, quite corner location, 2 free drinks at pool bar(colorful & good-taste!) and a B5 size honeymoon chocolate cake surprise when we had our 1st breakfast!!! The breakfast in Rim is very very delicious btw, and lots of choices provided. The room is spacious, clean and traditional thai style, if you wanna try some exotic experience, don't miss it...since it's only 1.5 years old, all facility are new and very good preserved. The pool is beautiful, esp. at night. Location is good as well, though not in the hot spot of hostels in the old town, still very convenient to walk down to sight-seeing places and around 80 Bht Tuk-tuk from the night bazaar. Overall, The Rim is our BEST hotel experience in Thailand!!

Lovely little boutique hotel !”

Price, Location, Room Size, Staff Attitudes

Fantastic little boutique hotel in traditional architecture and interior appointments to give you that old-world feeling. Only 38-39 rooms and therefore very cosy. But the rooms are big! In the spare spaces, 5 adults can play a game of Twisters with no injuries! Staff attitudes are first rate : polite, friendly, and attentive. Maybe because it's a small boutique hotel that there seems to be a, cosy, fuzzy, family-like atmosphere. Location is fantastic : just inside the edge of the Old City walls and practically next to the Suan Dok gate. Incidentally, Suan Dok gate guards the western entrance to the roughly 1.5km x 1.5km square old Chiang Mai city (pls Google a map of the old city to have an idea). As the hotel is relatively new at only about 2 years old, many tourist maps may not indicate the hotel's presence but it's there. Just look for Suandok gate on the map. The hotel is almost literally a spitting distance away to the left of the gate as you are looking out of the gate from inside the city walls. As far as convenience goes, it's perfect in the sense that it's not far away from the attractions inside the old city walls or surrounding it, and yet not too near the crowds and traffic on the narrow streets within. Perfect balance of convenience and privacy. When I return to Chiang Mai, that's the hotel I'll be going back to. No need to try others.

Great Hotel, Great Service”

Nice Atmosphere, Lovely Pool, great Service

we truly enjoyed our stay at the rim chiang mai and can highly recommend it to anyone. the atmosphere at the hotel is really relaxing and the rooms are very stylish. the pool area is really nice and allows for relaxing breaks between all the sightseeing. the breakfast was amazing with great coffee and the restaurant served really good food. they even make their own ice cream and the raspberry ice cream was a great success with the children (as well as the adults).the service was excellent. there are several tuk tuks waiting outside the hotel, so no problem getting transportation around if you don"t want to walk. we were however talked into going on a trip with the tuk tuk driver to see different sights, like a monkey show at the monkey school and to the village with the burmese women with the long necks. these attractions, i must say, are very degrading and sad and i would not recommend it. this is however nothing to do with the hotel. i would very much recommend the rim to anyone who wants to experience a great hotel in a really nice city.

Oasis in the city”

Great location, helpful staff, relaxing setting

the rim was a wonderful home base for us during our stay in chiang mai. the room was comfortable and well decorated, the pool and bar were relaxing, the food from the hotel restaurant was very good, and best of all the staff was always ready to help. this smallish, boutique hotel is well situated within walking distance of the sunday night market and other attractions yet they do provide a hotel shuttle service. the only critical comment i can think of concerns the rather firm bed. we slept just fine but if you're wanting a more pillowy bed you'll be disappointed. that said, i'd highly recommend this hotel and know that if we returned to chiang mai, we'd book at the rim!

What a gem”

Staff - they were all lovely, lovely grounds, big room, good location.

We can not speak highly enough of the Rim Chiang Mai (and we have stayed in quite a few Asian hotels). From the minute we arrived till the second we left the service was amazing. The staff are professional but friendly. Nothing is too much bother. Our large room was spotlessly clean and well appointed and the balcony overlooking the garden made us feel as if we were the only guests there. The hotel offers a shuttle to the Saturday night market and Sunday Walking Street markets. We could not fault the service or room in any way - fantastic value through Agoda. I wish we could rate the staff higher than excellent.

Great hotel and great staff”

Nice pool, big clean room, good restaurant.

we booked because t.i.t. travel had book a dirty hotel for us. we were so glad to have moved because if we had stayed at the other hotel it would have ruined our holiday in chiang mai. we were at the rim hotel for 2 nights (march 12 & 13). we enjoyed everything about our stay. the hotel is very clean (room, restaurant, swimming pool, lobby and public area). the restaurant has a good variety of both thai and western dishes. the breakfast is also very good and healthy including the excellent coffee which is the best we have had in asia (we left canada 1month ago). above all our stay at the rim was memorable thanks to the professional and friendly staff.

Great Stay in this beautiful central hotel”

Beautiful view on the pool, quiet and peaceful, very nice bedrooms

The Rim Chiang Mai Hotel is not too big but not too small either. It is absolutely lovely, once you entered the garden, you seem to escape from the noisy city, peaceful. Great for rest. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very spacious. For internet addicted, Wifi is everywhere and works perfectly. Staff was very nice and managed to help us when needed. Only - : on the last day, we went on a day trip and had a flight in the evening. therefore we had checked out in the morning, and the staff didnt find any solution for us to take a shower when we came back from our trip... which is a bit annoying for this kind of high standard hotel.

The best option in Chiang Mai”

Rooms, food and team preparation

I stayed 20 days in Thailand in more than 6 hotels and at The Rim I had the most amazing experience. Of course that Chiang Mai is a must-do in Thailand and a wonderful place, but I'm sure that this hotel made this special as well. The welcome team speaks good English and explains all about the city and tours at your check-in. But what is amazing is that they don't push you in any moment and make you feel comfortable to decide. They set all my tours, transportation, bike and motorbike rentals, spas, etc with no extra charge. The hotel structure is fantastic and the room, very romantic, comfortable and clean. Cordial team! Best breakfast! Felt in home!

Great Hotel”

friendly staff, rooms, location to airport

We had a great stay at Rim Chiang Mai. It is about a 5 minute drive to the airport. The hotel offers airport transportation at a small fee. It is within 15-20 minute walking distance to some temples. What Chedi Luang was our favorite. The hotel also offered a free shuttle to the night bazaar. Breakfast was great. My husband and I always ordered the Thai dishes from the menu, which is included in the buffet. The rooms are large and some have views of the pool. The staff is extremely polite, attentive, and helpful!

Great Hotel, Great Staff”

Location (in Old Chiang Mai), wonderful staff, beautiful rooms and property

I loved this place. It's in Old Chiang Mai, within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants, but far enough away from the Night Bazaar to avoid the tourist crowds. It's well known, so you shouldn't have much difficulty getting lifts to or from the hotel. Rooms are beautiful and clean, bed was solid and comfortable, and the grounds are gorgeous. The entire hotel has a wonderful theme and texture to it that makes one deel that they're staying in a different era without sacrificing a bit of modern luxury. The staff are friendly and very helpful at every turn. Breakfast was excellent and extensive. Negative notes (that were not a big deal to me in light of the above): shower pressure was not impressive (probably because of a flow restrictor in the head) and there was a small amount of mold on the walls (difficult to avoid in a permanently humid environment). Travelers that like having all attractions immediately on their doorstep may have slight issue with the distance to the other side of the wall. I very much recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

Amazing hotel, great staff”

Most comfortable bed! Large, well decorated rooms

We had a lovely stay whilst at the Rim... The staff were extremely attentive and made sure when getting taxis or tuk tuks that we weren't overcharged. Location is fab, very near the markets and the airport. We were unsure about the pool as it looks small in the photos but it was a decent size and there is no competition for loungers! Breakfast was ample with a good selection. The rooms were great, large shower, large bath and a huge TV. I have to say that on our 7week trip the Rim's bed and pillows were the most comfortable! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Chiang Mai.

Small Luxury Hotel with great Service”

Beautiful Hotel, very nice Staff, good pool, great food

We stayed 4 nights at the Rim in Chiang Mai. It,s a lovely Hotel with very friendly, very professional Stuff (they call it Butler here which matches it perfectly). The design of the hotel reminds of the old lanna architecture but brings in the modern comfort of a 5Star resort. it,s never crowded and very peaceful. we will come back. the only little Contra is the location, it,s at the outer part of the old town, could be a bit closer to the main attractions, but on the other hand that is the reason it,s so peaceful

Nice ambiance and excellent service”

friendly and hepful staff

We really enjoyed our stay at the Rim. The hotel grounds and ambiance were lovely, and invoked a Lanna/Northern Thai feel. The rooms was very nice with big bathroom (including a bathtub with bath salts, which was nice) and a terrace looking out over the grounds. There is a lovely pool and bar that we did not get the chance to use, but was definitely a pleasant surprise in Chiang Mai. The hotel is also in a good location, making it easy to stroll through the old city and not too far to walk to Thapae Gate and the River. The staff and service were fantastic and definitely the highlight of our stay. They were very friendly and helpful (sorting out dinner reservations, taxis, shopping spots, etc.), all with great English language skills. The only issue was with the Internet connection (which is provided for guests free of charge - essential!). The staff were quick to respond and help out when I had problems, but even after the log-in issues were addressed, I continued to have problems logging out. I think it is something about the service provider they use, which they may want to consider changing. Overall, I definitely recommend this hotel for a pleasant and relaxing stay in Chiang Mai.

Pleasant Oasis”

This hotel has large rooms with balconies, large bathrooms, simple decor in Lanna style over looking a pretty pool.

I was happy to stay a the Rim Chiang Mai. I felt it was a good value and my room on the top floor was light and bright when I opened the curtains. Staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is located on the rim of the old city which is a busy street but it is still easy to walk once you figure out how to get around. I found this to be a pretty hotel and good value.

Beautiful and quiet hotel”

nice decor

The Rim is a quiet hotel, not too many rooms, the decor in the old Lana house is beautiful and especially by night when the pool is enlighted. Great food in the restaurant, very helpful staff, good value for money and spacious rooms. Maybe the only thing they could improve is to offer some more information about the possible trekkings in the surroundings, but there are plenty of travel agency's in Chiang Mai who offer tours and trekkings. Also the gym is very basic.

Oasis of Laid Back Tropical Charm”

Location, Great Restaurant, Gorgeous Grounds, Lovely Staff

We loved this hotel, so much so that we actually wanted to just chill there, rather than venture out. The rooms are gorgeous as are the gardens. Great spot for lounging by the pool and they serve a great cocktail. Try the Lord of the Rim. Surprisingly good, although a little expensive by local standards was the food in the restaurant. We had lunch there and were pleasantly surprised at how good and authentic their Thai food was. Beware though. The Pad Thai I had was one of the spiciest I have encountered, but I'm sure they would tone it down for you. Their breakfast isn't hugely extensive but there was still plenty of choice. We hired bikes just a short walk away on the hotels recommendation and explored the old city in the little time we had. It was a great experience. Navigating the traffic outside of the old city was a bit stressful. Its very busy, but everyone is very polite and unbelievably careful in the chaos of it all. I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.

"Boutique hotel with heaps of character and charm"”

Friendly staff, only 36 rooms ( small and private), charming rooms, great dinner menu, easy walking distance to temples

I loved my stay at "The Rim' -booking online at Agoda was my first attempt at on-line booking and i was delighted with the discount and the quick confirmation of my booking. I was over the moon when i actually got to "The Rim' - transfer requested and provided- to see it was even more charming than the pics posted on Agoda. What wasn't on the web were the fantastic staff - young, informative and so very helpful. After a hard day's temple spotting, a soak in the deep bath, followed by a glorious dinner at "The Canal" restaurant topped off a great day in Chiang Mai. I have already passed on details to friends.
