Exceptional”
This high rise hotel was situated within yards of the River Mekong. The views from my room, across the river to Laos & to the mountains beyond was second to none. My room on the 10th floor, was excellent, spotlessly clean, light, airy, modern, beautifully presented, with a modern TV & was beyond fault, it was first class. The wet room was of the same top standard, with a constant supply of hot water, & fully equipped even with a supply of quality toiletries. The room had an adequate sized balcony, which again overlooked the river. I am a frequent visitor to Thailand, & have thus been to very many hotels throughout its Kingdom, it is without doubt one of the very best I have experienced. It is almost 'too good' for the area, as my 6 day stay here was rather too long, as there is little to do in Nakhon Thanon itself, except to admire the embankment along the river in the town. The staff were helpful, plentiful & polite. The room linen & towels were changed daily, & the kingsized bed was very comfortable. My only complaint about this hotel is that of it's detached restaurant, I found it to be well below the standard of the hotel itself. It was open to the public, frequented by the 'Police' daily for freebies, The decor was non existent, like sitting in an concrete unfinished building, The staff were hopeless, could never get my order correct, if at all they gave you any attention, & the food (when you got it) was only just adequate. For the hotel I mark 10 out of 10, for the restaurant 2 out of 10.

River Paradise Suite 07/01/19 To 09/01/19”
Comment on other people's review Maelyn Singapore review on 13/01/19 Is right that there is a construction that did spoil the overall river view . But it's not only for The River Hotel. I'm currently staying 1 night 09/01/19 to 10/01/19 at the New FORTUNE RIVER VIEW HOTEL It's a whole stretch along all the way where all the Hotels are! The construction is even all the way to the weekly weekend night market area. And if i were to compare it's definitely worth it to spend more on The River Hotel than Fortune River View Hotel. 2nd comment on other's review James United kingdom review on 8th March 2018 100% agree with u! Million dollar sunrise from bed! Lastly my own review. Have one of the most friendly and helpful staff.. thank u all for making my stay wonderful. Breakfast variety was not alot but they serve delicious local noodles which gives it a very authentic Nakon phanom feeling. Night time bar was good with live bands too. Mainly full house on weekend with locals staying around the corner as the food they serve is good. Lastly lastly bed was comfy no dirty stains on bed sheet or towers..air con was cold..hot bath was working well...tv signal wifi was all working well. Stayed in room 555.

Likely the best value I found”
Certainly a joy to find this hotel met and exceeded my hesitant expectations. 39years since I last visited Nakhon Phanom, and wow was I impressed with the "River". This is a gem in an obscure corner of the country. The riverside location includes a horizon of views of both the river and the Laos shoreline to include the magnificant mountains in the background. Biggest mistake of my Thailand trip is to not plan another night here to soak up more of this peaceful image. With all the traffic and bustle I found to have grown most everywhere in Thailand the past 40 years this spot left me gazing across the river feeling as if I had never left. I can't image another trip to Thailand without going back here. I'm secretly hoping nobody reads this review and the scene there gets busy, but that is rather selfish so enjoy!!!

Excellent new hotel on the river”
Excellent hotel, modern, with good facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast, and restaurants on site - ate there with friends a couple of evenings to save driving - they had some nice wine available, reasonably priced, and the staff could not have done more to make me feel at home. Good choice of Thai and International food. The River Mountain View room has a small balcony and has beautiful views which look over the Mekong river to Laos (even on the second floor, where we were), and is well worth the small extra cost. Comfortable room with walk-in shower and good bathroom facilities, comfortable bed. Free water each day. No in-room safe. Right next to a petrol station with a 7-11 convenience store should you need anything. We had a car to get around, and it was very easy to get to the sights in and around Nakhon Phanom.

Big hotel + small town + river view = good rest”
The River is a very well kept hotel that has an understated exterior. Each room has the same indiscriminate angle of the Mekong River. Our friend stayed in a river view room and we in a paradise suite. We were all very satisfied with our rooms. Housekeeping was timely and thorough and very sweet (at least on the fourth floor). The staff were generally nice, capable of speaking Thai, Lao and English. But other than check in and out, we didn’t really had much contact. Breakfast offered a fresh selection of salad and fruit, with an egg station and noodles/porridge station. But if that’s not your typical breakfast, there is a nice bakery about 250meters north of the hotel.

Brand new hotel with excellent value for money”
This hotel is brand new - it was opened in October 2013. The staff are friendly and attentive, have good command of English, and the rooms are well equipped, making this hotel excellent value for money. If you book a room on the river side, you will get a beautiful view of the Mekhong River. This place is highly recommended, although having a car is easiest as this hotel is a little outside the city center. Hotel has a shuttle service and offers bicycles for rent.

No, really, it IS an oasis!”
We loved it! The hotels in Nakhon Phanom vary in their quality, age and so on but this is a small 5 star hotel. The price is very competitive and we got the biggest surprise of our lives when we got to the room and found it was not just a room but a suite. Clean, tidy and modern: bedroom overlooking the Mekong River. We were only there for two nights although we were in the area for four nights. We wished we could have stayed for all four nights here.

Super stay”
Check-in and check-out handled very efficiently and with friendliness. Room of good size with all facilities working and very clean, but watch out for the bathroom floor tiles as they are very slippery when wet. Excellent dinner at the open air riverside restaurant. The fresh fish from the Mekong, cooked in soi sauce, mushrooms, and ginger, was absolutely delicious. Breakfast was thai-style, with an eggs station and good choices, including salads and fresh fruit. There is a major construction project in progress along the whole length of the riverside, which affects all the hotels along this stretch of the river. It looks as though the riverside promenade in the town, with road next to it, is being extended for a number of kilometers southwards. This work was just a very minor distraction, and should not put off visitors to any of the hotels in this area of the river. Apart from being quite visible, the views across the river were still superb.

Nice hotel clean rooms.”
Nice hotel close to the nakomphanom Riverview hotel. Note the similarity in the name. Don't confuse the two, The River hotel is much nicer and modern. We stayed at the other hotel before which was dirty and damp and more expensive. The River hotel has all rooms overlooking the river which is nice although there is currently building work nearby it was not an issue. The River also has a newer sister hotel called the R Photo which is further away from town but a similar price. Breakfast is basic but ok for westerners. The staff are friendly and parking is free on site. Nice bathrooms in all room types. This is our second stay here in 4 years. It's a shame the hotel doesn't have a pool out the back as there is plenty of space for one. We stayed in room 401 and then 111 apartment type room, both were lovely. However we would recommend upper rooms as there were less moskitoes outside in the early morning and evening probably due to the nice cool river breeze blowing at upper levels.

New and with a superb view”
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The River. All rooms are tastefully furnished and have a wonderful river view into the hills of Laos -- A/C took a while to cool down the room but they sent us a complimentary bucket of ice for our drinks since the fridge had been unplugged and took a while to cool things down. For 100 Baht we got a sunset riverboat tour of almost 2 hours up through town and along the Laos shoreline. We had dinner at the Riverside restaurant and had a great meal with drinks for about 1000 Baht right on the river edge with superb service. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Boutique hotel with spectacular view and great heart”
The hotel is located right on the bank of the Mekhong River and is not too far from the city. You can sit back and relax enjoying the widest view of the river. Plus, the hotel is not expensive at all compared with the view and the service you will get. Love it to max!

Grrat hotel on the rover bank”
Pros Room was nice size and we'll furnished Beautiful evening view of river from room. Bathroom was very modern Bed and pillows were comfortable Adequate parking for the card Cons Not downtown. You really need a car Our A/C would not.get very cold - only cool. Didn't complain as it was cold enough for our one night Breakfast was below par. Some Thai noodles and rice but with lots of onions and pork - two things I do not eat. Only western food was eggs, bread and instant coffee or tea. The Orange drink was way too sweet. I don't think it had any juice in it. Overall, a very nice hotel but need to check A/C and improve their breakfast.

Nice and clean but a bit far from city center”
This hotel is really nice and clean. If you want to stay at the quiet place, here is the place for you. It's a bit far from city center not in walkable distance but they do have shuttle service to city center and airport. No swimming pool and fitness but they have spa. I had a pleasant stay.

New, Clean, Excellent Food, Beautiful Views”
It is a very nice hotel, the best one in Nakhon Phanom. There are two restaurants, a cafe, a spa, and they have motorbikes and cars to rent. I appreciated that the staff spoke English. The breakfast was very good--they do not skimp. The food in the River Bar was especially good--Isaan dishes and Western food too. The cafe has the best orange juice I have ever tasted in my life. Everything was done well, and I had an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Incredible sunrise view”
Comfortable room with a great river view. Nice breakfast. Kind staffs (especially the guy in the day shift). Only one downside for us, the hotel transportation fee to downtown is a little expensive. To rent a car or motobike is the best idea to travel around. Anyway, good hotel. Recommend.

Lovely hotel overlooking the Mekhong”
Hard to find fault with the hotel really..... Lovely room with views over the Mekhong river and Laos. Nice restaurant with good food and live music. Friendly and obliging staff. Quiet and relaxing. Maybe the only improvement,I can suggest,is if they had a swimming pool.

Nakorn Phanom's Best Hotel So Far”
There are many great accommodations in Nakorn Phanom, but it's really hard to beat this gem. The price, the Mekong River view, the facilities (great spa, nice breakfast, good cafe), the location that's not too far out (you can easily walk, cycle or get a tuk tuk ride to town). I've stayed here since its opening and it's still my first preference.

Good”
Nice view from the river. Clean and nice hotel. Big parking. Big breakfast, a lot of choice of fresh made food. Not close to the center. But there are some restaurants within walking distance. Also the hotel has a restaurant in the evening.
