A nice, clean and quiet place to stay in the heart of Bangkok”

The Tarntawan Hotel was a very nice place to stay during my two weeks in Bangkok. Don't be discouraged if it's a little hard to find; that's one of it's strengths! The hotel is situated in a small alleyway, but the hotel is the only building in the alleyway, so, it is so incredibly quiet. It was hard to believe I was in a bustling area of the city. The staff was extremely kind, helpful, and welcoming. Everyone went out of his/her way to make guests feel welcome. The manager even came out to the lobby during breakfast and spoke to everyone and made sure everything was OK with their stay at the hotel. He is doing a great job of managing the hotel. Speaking of breakfast, it was quite good and offered a nice variety of omelets, soups, and Thai breakfast items, plus breads and fruits. The staff serving breakfast were quite friendly, efficient, and attentive to guests. The location is within walking distance to either the Sala Dang or Chong Nongsi Skytrain stations, the Silom Street nightlife, shopping malls, great restaurants, etc. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bangkok for pleasure or for business. The ONLY thing I would mention in need of improvement is the wifi/internet service. The connection was very poor from my room. I work online, so I was not just in Bangkok for vacation. I was barely able to work from my room and could only get a strong enough connection if I sat right next to the door, with the door open, and my laptop in my lap. I could also go down to the lobby, and use the Business Center, where the connection was a little better. However, I did not let this fact detract from my enjoyment of staying at the Tarntawan Hotel.

Comfortable, hospitable hotel in a good location”

I have stayed at the Tarntawan Place Hotel on numerous occasions due to its excellent location on Surawong Road near good shops, restaurants and nightlife. The hotel is a great deal for the price with large comfortable rooms with king-sized beds, a coffee maker in the room, a fully stocked mini bar, excellent WiFi, large bathroom and more. The restaurant in the hotel has an excellent breakfast and other meals. The staff is very friendly and accommodating there. I have stayed 3 or 4 times at the Tarntawan Place Hotel, and keep coming back because it is the best place to stay for the money.

Fantastically-Located Hotel!”

the tarntawan place hotel is the perfect place for action in all senses of the word. shopping action is to be had at the night markets of patpong, with the pratunam (plus platinum mall) and siam square shopping areas just baht cab rides away. dining action isn't hard to come by as the restaurants and street stalls lining surawong road leave you spoilt for choice. last but not least, of course, is that other kind of action this area is known for. with the tarntawan place hotel being a stone's throw away from the noisy & naughty nightlife of patpong and its environs, it'd be hard to get bored in this area of bangkok.

Great staff, great benefits and great location”

This is the 4th time this year I have stayed at the Tarntawan and I have never known the service to change. It's a safe and secure hotel for a solo traveler. I started my trip in Bangkok flying from U.K and ended it back in Bangkok at the Tarntawan. The good thing about this is that I was able to leave all my english winter clothes at the hotel and pick them up on the way back rather than have to carry them over SE Asia. The staff are really friendly at the hotel, the rooms are clean, spacious and have a incredibly large bed. There is a TV, mini bar, desk and day chairs in the room. Although the hotel does not have a swimming pool for a small charge you can use the pool at a nearby centre. Breakfast is served whenever you get up and at anytime which is convenient if you have spent the previous night on the town at the many nearby bars or clubs. I will be back later this year and will be returning.This is a very gay friendly hotel

Great Hotel in central Bangkok”

From arrival at the hotel, as a returning customer, the staff imediately recognized and welcomed me back to the tarntawan Place. Lukas, the exceeding friendly hotel manager, is always engaging with each guest and in addition hosts a reception on Thursday evening for guests. The location in central Bangkok is ideal with the night market and nightlife just minutes away from the hotel. The housekeeping staff promptly cleaned the room with fresh linen each morning while I was enjoying a full included breakfast and then delivered fresh fruit to the room in the evening. When in Bangkok, I will always stay at the Tarntawan Place, its like a second home.

we stay at the tarntawan place, which is located on surawong silom area, that's very perfect location like easy to get to bts for shopping mbk , siam paragon.here the staff very helpfull, get into the room very clean and they provided complimentary tea&coffee in the room as well. overall tarntawan place very good with big smile from the staff and also can have 24 hours for breakfast.

Great hotel with service beyond belief”

I have stayed at the Tarntawan many times over the years. I have never been disappointed. I have also tried other hotels for some variety but always come back to the Tarntawan. The staff is so professional and helpful. Within minutes of checking into your room, a staff member knocks on your door with a complimentary drink. If you need directions to anyplace in Bangkok, the staff will spend as much time as needed to make sure you have the necessary information and directions. Also, the hotel restaurant has wonderful Thai food. (I have never tried the European food) I recommend the Tarntawan wholeheartedly.

A hidden gem”

Tarntawan Place Hotel is going through different managements. Hopefully they will replace the worn and dirty carpet, and freshen up the rooms a bit more. Otherwise, great location, gay-friendly, and discreet. Staff is super nice and friendly! ! A wonderful hidden gem in the bustling Surawong and Silom area.

Almost perfect - poor TV selections”

The staff at the Tarntawan Place are exceptional. They are welcoming, cheerful and helpful. Whether it be restaurant, reception, door, security or housekeeping and maintenance they go out of their way to ensure your stay is enjoyable. The hotel has a lovely Thai ambiance with interesting decor and fresh flowers throughout. Its "old world" charm is a welcome relief from the chrome and glitz of many of the more modern hotels. The rooms are spacious and include a bath tub as well as shower - many of the rooms appear to have recently been refurbished. My one disappointment with the hotel is the very limited choice of cable tv channels. Wi fi is free and works well in the rooms. The business centre is a nice touch offering the opportunity to print documents. Breakfast offers a mix of a la carte and continental buffet. The location of the hotel is a real plus - walking distance to the Silom Entertainment areas, the BTS, numerous excellent massage faciities, as well as the Silom Shopping Complex. Security staff are thorough and professional providing a safe but unobtrusive environment for guests.

Like Family”

The Tarntawan Place Hotel does an outstanding job at making each guest feel warmly welcomed and like part of a family. They quickly learn the guests' names and room numbers. There is a weekly Thursday welcome cocktail hour with management. The atmosphere is relaxed and tranquil. Although a small boutique property, it offers all of the amenities of a much larger property including newspapers, business center, 24-hour lobby lounge and bar, laundry, etc. I've stayed at other properties in the neighborhood and while the rooms may be a bit nicer, they cannot compare to Tarntawan as far as providing an enjoyable stay. I've made Tarntawan my hotel of choice in Bangkok.

Great Service”

My wife and I checked into the Tarntawan Place to have a night out in Bangkok. We live quite far out of town and have a 16 month daughter so this was a treat. Although the rooms in the Tarntawan Place hotel aren't anything to write home about, they are clean and comfortable. What made the whole experience great was the location (downtown) and the service. The people were very friendly and warm. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a good hotel in the given price range.

You can't get better staff than here”

i have stayed in bangkok many times but keep coming back to the tarntawan place hotel. the reason is down to the friendliness and politeness of the staff. it is predominantly a gay hotel but if this doesn't bother you i would recommend this place. the rooms are spacious and clean and every night there is a knock on the door and housekeeping would deliver some no set time for it. if you want your breakfast at 3pm in the afternoon you can have it. location is great for pat pong night market and a stones throw from the many bars and clubs that are located around the area. the sky train is a 5 minute walk from the hotel and if you want to use the water way to travel around you can walk or use a tuk tuk for 20 bht

I had one of my best budget hotel stay in silom Bangkok in this hotel. Got the room at an attractive half price during agoda promotion. The hotel is nicely tucked at a back street opposite Tawana hotel, right beside The Green massage (which I frequent a lot) Room is extremely comfortable (603). The super king bed was so comfortable it’s hard to get up in the morning. Hot water is instant. And plenty. The beautiful lady in charge upgraded me to a higher room instantly when I requested it. Love her! And all the friendly and adorable staffs especially Kofy. Songkran had been amazing partially due to the accessibility of this hotel (change and bathe easily) and they even have songkran mini party outside the hotel on the road! Overall. 5 stars for friendly stuffs, comfort, and accessibility. I will be back. - William Marquis Goh (Singapore)

Lovely hotel with friendly service”

We have stayed at the Tarntawan before and will keep coming back. The hotel is situated in the Silom district, tucked away down a quiet little Soi, which is very central for all the major attractions of the centre of Bangkok. The hotel is well maintained, the food they serve is really good, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel - great for a two or three day break in Bangkok.

I have stayed multiple times at the Tarntawan Place Hotel because it is a great value for the money and is centrally located in Bangkok for shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The hotel has everything that I am looking for including large comfortable rooms with good amenities, a friendly and accommodating staff and a good breakfast and restaurant in the hotel. All my needs are met at the Tarntawan Place Hotel, so I have not needed to look anywhere else to stay. I will stay there again and highly recommend it to others.

as always, i had a nice stay at the tarntawan place hotel. the rooms are clean and nice, a little tattered compared to some of the new hotels in the area, but still a nice and welcoming place to stay. some additional english language tv channels would have been nice. the staff is wonderful and the hotel quiet. overnight guests are allowed, ids will be kept by the staff for your protection. possibly the best part is that breakfast is served all day for you and any guest. it's a long walk over to silom to catch the bts.

Very friendly and good hospitality”

i stayed also at the tawana bangkok hotel just opposite the tarntawan hotel. that hotel is more expensive but very commercial. for everything one has to pay extra! at the tarntawan hotel the internet is free and one can even print free. ok they have a swimming pool but their beds are as hard as rocks. so if you want to stay in silom i really can recommend the tarntawan hotel, which apperently is under swiss management.

Excellent service”

Tarntawan Place is a lovely oasis in Silom. Being a boutique hotel it is able to offer friendly personalised service where you genuinely feel welcome. The Thai decor is beautiful and relaxing and the lobby area is peaceful and quiet. Security is first class, internet and use of the Business Centre are free. No joiner fees, all day breakfast, and a variety of delicious foods on the menu all add to the positives of a stay at Tarntawan. One negative is the lack of variety in cable tv channels - most hotels offer a choice of about 60 channels, Tarntawan Place has about 5. there is no swimming pool.You also pay more here than you would at some of the nearby (and newer) alternatives. However the positives do ensure that your stay is a pleasant one and once you have experienced the friendliness of the staff you will want to return.

A Happy Return Customer”

This is my third visit to Bangkok and my 6th stay at Tarntawan. Its the hotel I first check into for a few days before traveling to surrounding areas and the last hotel I use before returning to the US. The place is great. I love the location and the staff are friendly and go out of their way to make sure my stay is enjoyable. In fact I recognize 5 staff members who were there 3 years ago during my first stay and they each remember me when I return. I was told also they are in the process of renovating the guest rooms.
