"Best hostel per budget so far I’ve been to in Japan. You get fridges to store food, kitchen to cook, coin laundry and locker to store small valuables. Downstairs is a cafe where you can eat all day, Nepali chicken curry is very good. Note that you make your own bed. For access, take Keihan train to Kiyomizu-Gojo station and walk here, or JR train to Kyoto station and take the bus 86, 100 202, 207 to Gojozaka bus stop. The hostel is near Gion area and the entrance pathway to Kiyomizu temple. Other attractions are easily reached by bus and I suggest buying 600 yen one day bus pass from the hostel staff if you will ride the bus at least three times in one day, except for Fushimi Inari which is much easier to get to by train. For food, head left towards Gion direction for about 300 metres, there’s a 24 hr Fresco supermarket which sells much cheaper stuff than convenient stores."

"I loved the atmosphere and its convenient access to transportation and the different attractions. Considering how much the price of the hotels in Kyoto had been increased during the weekends, 25 dollars/a night is nothing but the reception staffs were not so friendly in my personal opinion but the lady I met works there as a cleaner was really kind and helpful. Her name was Tamaki. Overall, this place wouldn't let down of budget room finders and quiet nice for everything."

"If you are a new traveler to Kyoto (solo or not). This capsule hostel is for you. the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable in sightseeing spots, events and tours. they were able to teach me where I could go for autumn leave night illumination which is famous in Kyoto. facilities are clean but bed is dusty (not for people with sinus issues). It has a very traditional japan design thus it is a very interesting stay. It is abit far from the station with afew slopes. Beware if you are a solo traveler with heavy luggage it will be a struggle. I really enjoy my stay here and will definitely come back to Gion Ryokan Q-beh the next time I am in Kyoto."

"For those who want to experience the traditional Japanese style home stay and with limited budget, Yululu would be the best choice. The bed and whole setting is comfy and cozy. The staff are very friendly. But the only limited is that it is not noise proof at night. Also, it has the best location, located at the city center, lots of coffee shops, gallery and boutiques around, only 5 minutes walk from the nearby subway and 15 minutes walk to Kiyamachi (night pub street). Will definitely choose here again when come to Kyoto."

"The accommodation is located only 5 minutes walking from Kyoto Station and situated near the center of Kyoto highlight, Kyoto Tower. Tanaka was very helpful during my stay. In the time I arrived, he was out for emergency and he informed me all the information needed for self check in. Among the accommodation during my trip in Japan, it has the best fluffy bed I need to sleep. I had a great sleep there. "

"Gion Koh was one of the most memorable experiences if my 11 day Japan trip, which is not what I expected from a hotel! The house is beautiful and relaxing, the check in room is the most relaxing place in all of Gion. The garden has a koi pond and lighting at night, you can fall asleep to the sound of running water. It feels like a quiet little bed and breakfast even though there is a big shrine right down the road. The host, Hiro, is a very friendly man with lots of personality, he sat with my wife and I and recommended lots of things to do and see in Gion based on what we like to see. He speaks English very well and will go out of his way to be helpful. His hospitality is unmatched. We stayed in a Japanese style room with futon mats. I am used to a mattress and still found them comfortable. The room we stayed in was the perfect size for two people, and like the rest of the house, beautifully designed. When I come back to Kyoto, I'm staying here again for sure. Top recommendation."

"Great location and the most welcome I have ever felt at a hostel after travelling over 2 years, all of the staff were amazing from the minute I arrived, the guest house itself is modern, extremely clean and very comfortable. The beds in the 4 bed dorm have a curtain for privacy and a power point/USB port so it is perfect to rest after a long day exploring all Kyoto has to offer. Tommy is an amazing and truely kind person who went above and beyond with myself and all the other guests to make sure our stay in Kyoto was a memorable one. I will definitely be returning here when I come back to Kyoto, truely amazing staff and a peaceful and fun hostel. Also free breakfast, great showers, free tea and coffee, large secure lockers and all the help you need for booking trips or a bicycle and finding all the best places in Kyoto."

"Really fantastic stay in an authentic feeling Japanese Inn. Nice little room on a pleasant Street in the nicest area of kyoto for tourists. The owner was very helpful and even went out of his way to provide details for late checking, as I was flying into Japan quite late. "

"It’s such a nice and very comfy to stay here. The train station is just nearby (Shichijo st. 320m, Exit3) and Kyoto station just 10mins walk. The hotel provides more than standard items such as facial cleansing foam , cleansing oil and leave on hair treatment. However the hotel is 90% of wooden, it’s probably trouble with noise if you have non-respect guests. Everything for me is fine and I’m sure to be back again!!"
