"Trang city will be your hub stop if u r headed to any of the surrounding islands for adventure, Koh Mook, koh Kradan etc.(aprox 50min drive from Trang city to the coast/boat ) The south is not anything like the melting pot of Thailand 'BKK' , the local economy is agriculture. rubber, cashew nuts etc. local pass times is duelling bulls. "big money livestock!" Backpacker types will be at home here. the local language even thickens the more closer u get to Malaysia. funny, even central Thais have to listen closely to understand the southern locals...dialect & southern twang... lol The Thurmin Thana hotel may be the cities best offering when it comes to western standards. Stay away from the spa (mezzanine floor) in the Thurmin Thana hotel. " terrible service for thai standards" u r better elsewhere. In general the accommodations r at its best..just another standard hotel..there are professional services available. (ex.) catering, business center etc. upside is also security. There is key access to activate elevators up to the rooms, heavy lobby staff and theres proud security personnel like most organized accommodations in thailand. For the price its worth it. Everything worked in my room. AC :), a view, local TV...yah and western toilet haha....i have humbly no complaints and not much expectations! The staff is great. Professional and courteous. Limited in english but can get by. Expect major english language limitations outside of the hotel. Better work on your charades game. Get a hotel business card before u depart for adventure. it will help the driver to understand going back to the "rhong rham= hotel" Thumrin Thana . The local food is where its at though. Go off grid and take a old school classic tuk tuk. Now i know how it is to be on R&R back in the day. Go get some thai/ muslim fusion cuisine. U r in a ancient country. Your in the south now!"

"Basic accommodation with a cold shower and toilet in some of the huts. Toilet block with a shower. The resort offers free kayaking, bicycle and has a restaurant and bar on site. Nothing is nearby so bring your own food if you don't plan to use their restaurant. 80b for a big Chang so not too expensive food is more expensive than local price but reasonable for me. Owners are lovely and breakfast is small but yummy. Advice: bring mosquito spray, they will provide if needed. Huts have mosquito nets but cover up. Also huts have air con. Beds are a thin mattress only so if you're a big guy like me it may not be suitable. Absolutely recommended this place though. Get a real local feel of Thailand. "

"My thai wife and I (german) enjoyed ten lovely days at Sabai Resort Pak Meng in December 2014. We chose this place in the south of Thailand, as we wanted to spend a quiet time in a not so touristic spot. The resort´s evaluations from different people all over the world were splendid, so we gave it a try. The owners are thai-italian and they worked hard to make our stay memorable. Sabai Resort is away from any traffic in a huge rubber tree plantation and a ten minutes by scooter from the Pak Meng Beach or Si Kao village. The premises are new and everything is well maintained. Cleanliness of the bungalows is outstanding, as the owners take personal care of everything. Noi & Alberto are a wonderful couple and they were working hard to make our stay unforgettable. Helpful in every way, we enjoyed their food, eagerness to provide good food (daily fresh from the market), a hike by car when needed and any information or service (i.e. scooter rental, tour info, island tours etc.). We have met Princess, the world´s sweetest cat. She´s the star of the resort and she´s been always good to jump on our laps for a three hours petting. Unfortunately Alberto did not want to exchange his kitten to my Ipod. So he will probably miss my music from my Ipod as much as we miss Princess, the true Sabai Resort superstar, lol. If you are longing for a quiet and relaxed time with good food, both thai and italian kitchen, as well as good entertainment from the owners, nice day trips to islands such as Koh Mook or Koh Kradan, then you should consider going to Trang. This resort has been such a good experience, so we can only recommend it. And if Alberto will build a pool for next year, then I´ll promise to help him to mow the lawn.
