Aim House Bangkok Hotel (SHA Certified)
Thonburi,Thonburi - View on map
"Location: **** easily accessible by private car or taxi, 700 m. walking distance from BTS Krung Thonburi. The problem is when the traffic jam around, walking seem faster than by car. The entrance road to the building is quite narrow and the hotel sign is quite small, it is just before 7-11 on the left hand! Universal design: ** accessible by a wheelchair with a helper in most area of the room, no disabled toilets and parking. Cleanness: ***** standard cleanness in all areas with good maintenance. Safety: **** use a keycard to access the room, but the door to the lifts are open for all during the daytime. The hotel is committed to a smoke-free policy, but some guests still violate the rules, two smoke alarms in one day. They also sit smoking outside in the front door. Food: * no included breakfast, the pre-ordered breakfast is across the road 130B/set. Internet:***** fast and strong signal free wifi in the room and lobby. Staffs: **** friendly and informative staffs. Facilities: "

Arun Haus 39
Thonburi,Thonburi - View on map
"We paid less than 850 baht per night (no kidding) and got upgraded to room 907 with 180-degree views of the Golden Mount and Bangkok's skyline (best seen at sunrise and in late afternoon). Needless to say, it's one of the best deals we've had in BKK. Yes, it's hidden in a small soi (Arun-amarin 39, hence the name of the hotel, which is also where the gallery of the local handicapped people is located - make sure to check it out for a good cause) but if you don't mind using a taxi, the location is actually very close (without traffic less than 10 min drive) to sights in Thonburi like Wat Arun, Wat Rakhang, the Royal Barge Museum and the highly recommended, recently opened Siriraj Phimukhsthan Museum at the huge Siriraj Hospital complex. The Grand Palace is just across the river; if taking the taxi, it could take about 15 mins without traffic but another option is just to take the ferry from Wat Arun or Siriraj Hospital. Negative aspects? Horrible parking and the lack of good on-site (or nearby) restaurants."

"We stayed only one night hotel, it was perfect. Location was good as we had plans nearby. We booked the small room, there was few amenities but the room was very convenient, clean and look brand new. One problem was the room get the smell of smoke whereas we asked a non-smoking room. We highly recommend this hotel for short stay and sleep."

Charlie House Pinklao (SHA Extra Plus)
Thonburi,Thonburi - View on map
"Since March 2017, my family and I have stayed 3 times at Charlie House, for a total of 20 nights. It has been a wonderful experience, thanks to the staff who are all very friendly and helpful. This more than compensates for the fact that the Pinklao location is not the most taxi-friendly place to get back to. Almost all taxi drivers have insisted on not using the meter, e.g. from Pratunam and demanded fixed fares like THB300, which we has to pay, especially on rainy days when many taxis do not want to hear about Pinklao. The fact that Charlie House is secluded and had a garden, etc contributes greatly to our stays because we wanted to have the peace and quiet which can rarely be found at most other hotels. By now, we have got used to to the idea of being ferried back and forth in the golf cart. The proximity of Tesco Lotus Pinklao with a huge hypermarket and a good /clean/cheap foodcourt , the number of foodstreet stalls and the proximity of Central Plaza Pinklao with many, many restaurants are all advantages which we took full advantage of, during our most recent 10-day stay. In and around Thonburi

More about Thonburi

West of the Chao Phraya River, Thonburi is one of Bangkok’s most authentic neighborhoods. It dates to Bangkok’s earliest days as capital, when Ayutthaya was sacked by the Burmese. General Phraya Taksin used Thonburi as temporary capital decades before the Chakri Dynasty made a capital out of Bangkok.

Between Thonburi and the Chao Phraya is the Riverside area, a thin slice of land rich with luxury hotels, rooftop restaurants and beautiful temples like Wat Arun. The atmosphere in Thonburi may be more low-key and residential, but it’s very affordable and properties near the expressways link to central Bangkok easily. New BTS stations Wongwian Yai and Thonburi make the journey to Siam's shopping district in less than 30 minutes. There are also plenty of ancient temples, including Wat Tha Phra, Wat Bang Sao Thong and Wat Bang Waek nearby.

Hotels in Thonburi have excellent access to the small canals that branch off of the Chao Phraya and wind their way through water villages that have changed very little in the last half-century. This network of waterways once earned Bangkok the nickname, ‘Venice of the East’, and tours by long-tail boat are a highlight.

A few floating markets are hidden away in Thonburi. Also worthwhile are the museums exploring Thonburi’s 15-year stint as the Siamese capital. Most of the attractions, from the temples to King Taksin the Great’s monument and the Princess Mother Memorial Park are on or near Bangkok Yai canal.
