Nice affordable hotel in the middle of Bangkog”

We were travelling by car so the main need was to find a hotel close to Khao San area with good parking facilities. Trang hotel absolutelly satisfied our expectations. It's a big hotel, not new but recently renovated, well located in walking distance to all main sights of Old Bangkok. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is included in price although it's quite poor and insipid. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Great hotel, swimming pool, clean, nice staff”

We have been pleasantly surprised by the Trang Hotel. The staff is nice, including the cleaning ladies. They always smile. We booked the superior room, but have been upgraded to premium superior. The price through Agoda is very good value for money. A big and deep swimming, with barely anyone inside. We swam many times alone. The breakfast is included, there are asian food (rice and noodles) and continental food (bread, jam, butter, ham, sausage, eggs), there are also orange juice (not that great) and tea and coffee. It is not super good food, but correct enough to give you a boost at the start of the day. The premium superior rooms have balcony with view on the garden, so quiet during the night. We can hear the people having breakfast in the morning, but not annoying. The other rooms have view i believe outside, but not sure. Flat TV screen with USB plug, if you fancy a film. Nice bathroom with hot shower. Plenty of storage. I haven't seen the standard nor the superior rooms, but i would recommend the premiums. We feel at home ! The wifi works well too, and you can even work on your laptop near the swimming pool The Khao San road (tourists road) is 10 min walk, and there are buses which goes straight to Hualamphong train station. Shame there is no BTS or MRT station nearby, but if you are 2 or more, it is worth to take the taxi cost wise anyway. So glad with this hotel that we will come back next week but this time with my parents-in-law and I will update their opinion on Agoda

Lovely hotel not too far from Kao Shan road”

Trang hotel is a great deal since fo a very reasonable price you get access to all facilities best hotels (should) provide for free: a swimming pool, a charming decorum, several english TV channels, wi-fi and cosy and clean rooms with a gigantic bed (for the double rooms at least). We went to a 4 star hotel afterwards in another corner of the city that was a lot more expensive and still dirty, with a paying wi-fi, only thai channels on the TV and ugly dirty rooms (tough bigger but what's the point?). Trang's breakfast is not the yummiest but still offers several choices from western to thai/chinese food. Anyway, I recommend it, its in the center of the old city,20 min from Kao Shan on foot, 5 in Tuk-tuk, close to all the greatest temples of Bangkok and god you will enjoy the swimming pool after sight-seeing knowing the temperature peaks there!

best hotel i've stayed in in bangkok. the room is a really good size with a/c and a good bathroom with hot water. the service is always friendly and did i mention the free breakfast buffet, really worth the early wake up. the staff will always get you a taxi and give you information to help you on your way. all in all a great hotel. thanks trang hotel

Great hotel with friendly & helpful staff”

Really enjoyed our stay at Trang. Having never been to SEA before I was somewhat dubious about paying in effect so little for a hotel, but as soon as we arrived my mind was put to rest with welcoming staff and a great room. Modern, clean and spacious - couldn't really understand why the bathroom sink was in the bedroom but hey, why not! It's nice to have the option of a swimming pool however it's blimming freezing!! I suppose you could say refreshing after a hot day sightseeing?!! Good wifi access throughout the hotel, in our room etc. It didn't work when we arrived and I was told to 'try again tomorrow' so I thought here we go! However true to their word when we woke up it was on and had no more issues during our stay. It's a bit of a strange area (quite a few of the local businesses around and about are industrial, garages, tyres shops etc) not lots of other hotels/bars/shops in the immediate vacinity but you don't need to go too far before coming across some. I would say its about 20 minutes walk from Khao San Road with many other sights easily accessible via foot also. We went to Thai boxing one night which was great fun and the stadium is just around the corner (5-10 min?) Breakfast at the hotel was ok, a good selection of 'local' food together with freshly fried eggs, frankfurter type sausages, ham and toast! To be honest, the food you can get locally is so cheap (and wonderful!) we gave breakfast a miss after our first day. I think the biggest pain was the hotel is not exactly close to the public transport rail link, but it would seem no where in 'central Bangkok' is. Taxis and tuk tuks are readily available just don't pay too much! We instinctly thought the tuk tuks would be cheaper but it turned out the metered taxis were a better bet. We paid THB500 in our first trip from Phaya Thai not knowing better but really you shouldn't need to pay any more than THB100 to get to Trang. Would definitely stay again!

Amazing Hotel, lovely service and smiling ”

this is the second time i have stayed at the trang hotel i arrived at the front desk..was received like a long lost relative by happy, smiling staff my room was cool, spacious and so very clean, breakfast, which was included in the price, was lovely. the food choices were fabulous, with both western and chinese style to choose from the hotel dining room offers an excellent menu as well as live music. see you again next year

Very friendly staff and clean, beautiful pool”

we stayed at the trang for 3 nights. we arrived rather late as we had just arrived from australia. on the first night we noticed something not quite right in our room. we called room service and within a few minutes the manager and 2 others came to our room to resolve the issue. a few minutes later a letter of apology from the manager was slipped under our door. - we were very impressed with how our issue was resolved. the rest of our visit was lovely. there were very few other westerners at the hotel, and no small children that we saw. our 4 year old son was given a lot of special attention by the staff. every morning as we were eating breakfast,one of the staff would get a bowl of fishfood for our son to feed the bright fish in the courtyard pond. the hotel was very clean and we basically had the pool to ourselves. we would definitely stay here again! the only downside to the hotel was that to go towards khao san rd you have to cross a very busy road, but khao san is within a 15 minute walk. however being a bit further away from the busy, noisy area was definitely a plus.

Great value for money in the older part of Bangkok”

The Staff at the Trang were some of the friendliest we encountered whilst travelling in Thailand. The hotel is quite far from any skytrain stops which was a bit of a setback but the bell boy would go out onto the main road and hail a taxi for us every morning and give them instructions wherever we needed to go which was awesome. The room was very spacious and clean and the Pool was the perfect way to cool down after a hot day trekking around Bangkok. There isn't much in the way of restaurants in walking distance which we found to be a bit annoying but the hotel restaurant had nice food and good service. Great value for money hotel.

Clean and Minimalis Hotel”

My good experience to stay in Trang Hotel Bangkok, the place close to UNFCCC office, the room is simple and clean, the architecture of the hotel is minimalize, someday i will comeback to this hotel and hospitality, love it to stay there..

Nice hotel ”

We had room 2220 at the Trang hotel. The room was spacious and clean; not the greatest deco but clean. There was a nice public area just outside our room with a sofa, chairs and a coffee table. The swimming pool is very nice, big and very clean. There is also an outdoor terrace. Breakfast was included and good. We had free WiFi in our room and in the public area. The staff is very nice, polite and efficient. We recommend this hotel because it is extremely quiet and a very nice place.

Oase in Bangkok”

Nice location, we can state only positive things about the hotel. Moreover, for what you get it was very cheap! The breakfast is very, very nice (Thai and Continental) and you can sit outside to enjoy it!!! The pool was great for us, since we like to swim. We used it after sightseeing in Bangkok, in the evening we were swimming and this was really luxiourous for us. The rooms are nice and clean. Nearby is a nice temple (standing buddha). First when we came to the hotel we were a little bit confused, because the first impression of the surrounding was not so nice. But in the end we attapted very well, we were walking a lot and there are several things you can make by walking distance... chao phraya river, kho san road,.... ect. Enjoy your stay! Bangkok is incredible city!

Nice and Friendly ”

Well, before heading to the hotel, I was little worried about this hotel. Because most of reviews were not so good somehow. But, when I arrived my room, the room was just nice and cozy!! Maybe because I did not expect this hotel too much, so that is why I loved this hotel, I guess.. Anyway, the service was good. Also, all of them were very friendly. Will visit there again if I go to Bangkok again.

Modern hotel , good location”

Although the rooms are small at the Trang hotel the quality of the rooms makes up for this. They are new and modern and it was great having a hotel with a pool to relax in after exploring Bangkok in the daytime. We ended up booking the hotel for two days with Agoda then made a second booking for another two nights and we had no problems, didn't need to check out or change rooms so it was great service.

Nice clean room; comfy bed; and garden pool view”

I was very apprehensive about booking in Trang due to the negative reviews. But maybe I got lucky. The Check in was fast, there is a nice pool and a garden restaurant; which luckily are the view from my room window. I got a nice room, simple furnishing, flat plasma tv, king bed, balcony for smoking (and the nice view). toilet/shower. I thought these were very good value for money!!! not exactly near UN but if attenting a UN conference, it is about 15 min walking distance; also have 7/11 nearby (5min walk)

nice hotel in a ok location”

we loved our stay at trang hotel. the service was very friendly and always willing to help us navigate the city or suggest ideas for things to do during our stay. we reserved the room 1 day before new years eve and it was not a problem. the one thing that is perhaps letting the hotel down is the location.

Great hotel & location”

the rooms are clean and tidy, the service is good and quick, great facilities such as internet everywhere in the hotel and the pool is good. two restaurants are available, 1 is chinese cuisine and the other is thai. breakfast was good and had a wide variety including western ans eastern food. the hotel is located in the center of bangkok a few minutes away from touristic places. the room had some mosqitos and the toilet didn't have a shower only a bath tub. when showering in the tub, there is no curtain and the water will fill the toilet, so you'll have your mini flood (bangkok experience)..... food at the hotel is at a good rate.

Great stay”

We had a great stay at the Trang Hotel. It is located near many of the main spots in Bangkok (a short taxi ride away) and the facilities are great. We enjoyed our room right by the pool and the spacious room.

Decent oldish hotel somewhat revitalized nr Kaosan”

as usual i did a lot of researching on agoda before choosing this hotel in kaosan. i didn't want to be smack in the middle of kaosan where generally, hotels charge quite a bit due to the buzz around the area and demand is high, but also there are none or not many newish hotels in that area purpose built etc. generally they all have a very backpackers, ad-hoc feel in my humble opinion. first thing to note is that the name golden tulip essential vasu hotel may simply be "off the radar" for cabbies. they tend to know it by its former name "trang hotel". there is however a large vertical dark blue signboard with golden tulip when you are upon the hotel but because it's situated under a overhead highway system, visibility is impaired somewhat. the lobby is unimpressive (not a significant negative in my books) and is more like a check in counter. white (matt, slightly passe) stone/marble tiled floor and walls, and architecture in the main building that looks more like a medium sized hospital. but wait, it gets better from here... my room was in the adjacent building accross the hotel's driveway, and its obvious that some new additions with a cosy wood strip floored alfresco courtyard flanked by 4 floors of hotel rooms on two sides, and further in, an interesting swimming pool as you walk further into the adjecent building area. having prepared myself for some disappointment whilst checking in, the rooms turned out to be decent, if you're paying thb1200... refurbished and not as "tired looking" as one would believe judging from the lobby area. i ate several times at the restaurant downstairs, and items on the menu (i tend to eat thai food only in thailand) was fairly priced and quite yummy. good thing too because for days you just wanted to "hang out" and not do the 15 to 20 miniute walk to kaosan road. my room and the environment around the swimming pool and the alfresco cafe is like an oasis in an area that is not as loud as near to kaosan road itself

Out of expectations!”

Everything about this hotel was nice, even better, the price was a great deal! The room was clean, the staffs were friendly, the pool was amazing. The only con is that the location is a bit far from Khao San Road crowd; we expected we can just walk around to get food but turned out there was nothing in the surrounding except 7-Eleven. We always took taxi because there was no public transportation. Despite that, we really enjoyed our stay and would like to recommend the hotel.

Fantastic hotel great service”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel, service was great the food was good. The room was a little small but clean and comfortable. The walk to Khoa san road took 15 minutes it is placed away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to take advantage of the night life. The pool is an enjoyable way to cool down after a long day. The Trang hotel is close to many of Bangkoks attractions. We will stay here again!!
