“Highly recommend ”
We stayed at TSG Blue Resort and Spa for five nights in February 2025. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel for its great value for money. 1. Staff – The staff was attentive, polite, and always willing to help. Communication in English was not an issue. 2. Check-in/Check-out – The process was smooth, and we were welcomed with a refreshing drink. The early check-out time (before 08:30) may seem unusual for Europeans, but on the Andaman Islands, early check-outs are quite common. 3. Location – The location was ideal for us. You can reach the hotel from the jetty by pre-booked taxi (1200 Rs), rickshaw (not sure about price), or by local bus (20 Rs), which runs at regular intervals and takes around 20 minutes. The bus schedule is available at the station and the beach stop. 4. Beaches – Radhanagar Beach is just a five-minute walk away. However, be cautious as there is no sidewalk or street lighting, which can be dangerous due to the number of vehicles leaving the beach after sunset. Getting to our favorite Elephant Beach (the quiet part without watersports amenities) took 10 minutes by bus and then a 30-minute walk through the forest, which can be done independently without a guide—just follow the well-trodden path. We visited Kala Pathar Beach once by rickshaw from the center, so I cannot confirm the travel time or cost from the hotel. However, this beach was really littered with trash, so we did not have the best time there. 5. Hotel Restaurant – The buffet breakfast was primarily Indian, but there were also options such as toast, butter, jam, hard-boiled eggs, cereals, and fruit. Everything was fresh, tasty, and replenished regularly. One thing to note is that other guests may sit at your table without asking—at least this was my experience. If needed, they can prepare a breakfast box. The restaurant operated only during specific hours, with dinner starting at 8 PM, which felt quite late. The à la carte menu was extensive, and a menu was also available in the room. The food was nice and served quickly. Prices were slightly higher, and you should factor in taxes and service fees. The hotel also has a Blue Café, where we only purchased two soft drinks, which were twice as expensive as elsewhere. They also have a bar, but I did not visit it, so I cannot provide a review. 6. Wi-Fi – Surprisingly, the Wi-Fi signal was strong throughout our stay. If you need to work, I recommend buying an Airtel SIM card in Port Blair upon arrival—it worked perfectly. 7. Electricity – Power outages were frequent but never a problem, as the hotel has its own generator that restored electricity within seconds. This is especially important at night when you need air conditioning. 8. Rooms & Amenities – The rooms were spacious enough, but the furniture was outdated. The fabric on the chairs was stained, and the bed linens and towels were yellowed—not dirty, just older and well-used. This did not bother me, but it might surprise some guests. The bathroom was not in the best condition but was sufficient for basic hygiene. We had hot water every day. The air conditioning worked well, and we received drinking water in glass bottles, which was a nice touch. The ceiling fan was functional but extremely noisy, so we avoided using it to not disturb the neighboring rooms. There were also drying racks outside the rooms for clothes and towels. 9. Pool – The pool was large and clean, with a few missing tiles. The water was perfect, and the depth was approximately 120-160 cm. Sunbeds and towels were available upon request from the pool staff. When more people gathered at the pool, music was played—personally, I found it too loud for relaxation, but other guests seemed to enjoy it as a party vibe. 10. Surroundings – There are a few restaurants and food stalls nearby. I won’t compare hygiene standards to Europe, but the food was tasty, and I had no issues. The menus were similar across all places.
