Great place to relax”
We stayed at Zensala for 4 days, it's not far from the main town (old city), which makes it about 15-20mins away from the airport and train station. we got the pool access room, the room was good, well maintained by the staff and very clean. however since the resort is very near the river, do expect it to have plenty of mosquitoes and other critters. so don't forget to bring your bug spray. the staff was very nice, and accommodating. they tend to keep their distance to offer you some privacy but very attentive whenever you will need them. Overall it's everything I expected based on the previous reviews and the photos, id stay here again if ever i'll be back in Chiang Mai.

“A little secret in CM, you will love it.””
We stayed at Zensala during mid of October. The location is very good. The breakfast is very well prepared and tasty per your order from menu and all you can eat. The staffs are very kind and helpful. This is a hidden treasure in Chiang Mai. Service is exceptionally Fantastic. Dining here is not expensive compared to those in hotels, but most importantly tastes are delicious. It is unlike dining in the hotel where it is always overpriced and taste is not authentic. The location so good to be true, it just less than 10 minutes from the heart of Chiang Mai. This is a place that you must stay and you will love it!

very relaxing”
zensala is a real gem just outside chiang mai. stayed in the loft suite with pool access. very comfortable although wifi was average upstairs. the view was very relaxing. the highlight was the daily car that came to take me to fah lanna spa in chiang mai, the best spa i have ever been to. food was good but not great. i ordered a nz rib eye but looked more like a sirloin for the price would have expected better. i would highly recommend this hotel and will stay again in the future.

the staffs are super nice!”
We stay for 2 nights at zensala, the staffs are very helpful and try to fulfill all of our request. we stay in the pool access room, but weather is too cold that we can't enjoy the pool. still the pool side view is nice. The provides DVD player and we rent the DVD at the lobby. this in-room facility is very good. We left zensala on the 3rd day, and go on our trip. we found that we left the sunglasses at the hotel, staffs find the sunglasses for us, and send it to chiang mai city for us. Really appreciate for their kindness.

a nice tranquil feel in a chill out holiday”
it was a nice vacation at zensala, with a direct view of the pool, garden and calming ping river from the room. much away from the hustle and bustle at town and we are ok to trade off the convenience at the hotels in town for the resort feel at zensala. the staff were helpful and always cheerful. Breakfast is good and the hotel cafe serves ok thai food at unexpensive prices. to me, it is sufficient enough to warrant a good review. The transport out from zensala to town costs about 200 baht one way, quite exp considering that travelling anywhere in town costs around 30-40baht per person in a song thaew (local pick-uo vehicle). to work things around, we book two tours, a half day to visit the doi suthep temple/hmong village and another full day trip to do trekking/water rafting/elephant farm/long neck karen village. the tours are reasonably priced, they pick you up from hotel and can drip you anywhere for dinner (we chose ninman road for the famous ristr8to cafes and other funky joints). so that's money saved on transport. we chanced upon his tour agency while walking at night bazaar at our first night.

just amazing!!”
wow! i can not think of a better place to stay in chiang mai. if you want to get away from the main part of down - but not so far away - this place is for you!! we had such a great time here. the resort/hotel is a gem near the mae ping river. the staff was so nice and friendly. always a smile on their face. the food was just amazing. we loved the all you can at breakfast buffet and dinner was beyond great. we had to get away from the party life in bangkok and zensala did us justice. words can not explain how much we enjoyed our stay. i cant wait to go back!!

Private Hotel fullfill your vacation trip”
We booked last minute (on arrival date) because the ex-hotel we stayed is fully. Hotel staff can provide early check-in and accommodate us to nice room - Pool Access Deluxe. We are highly recommend to stay here if you are looking for private hotel with PING river view. Location is quite a little bit far from Chiang Mai City but you can go by Taxi (150 - 200 Baht/way) but we choose to go by motor bike rental (THB 200 / day). Overall is really great, we can have a great time at Zensala, Confirmed.

Attractive resort, quiet location but no spa??”
Zensala is a new resort and we chose it on the recommendation of a friend. We should, however, have done a little more research on the resort ourselves. We visited Chiang Mai for 3 days to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We are both Thai massage/spa addicts and were looking forward to a couple of long pampering treatments in the resort's spa... According to the website's Facilities page (http://www.zensalaresort.com/facilities.php) the resort has a spa - but in reality, there isn't one!! We were very disappointed to find this out and there was no mention of when the spa would open, or if there would even be one. The receptionist just said, "No, we don't have a spa". She was, however, very helpful in organising treatments for us at a spa located in the old town, with free transportation included, however it meant we had to wait a day until we could get an appointment. The fact that Zensala Resort Chiang Mai is advertised as the sister property of Zensala SPA in Bangkok, and is spa-less, is a real surprise, and very misleading. It is even shown on the Agoda.com website that there is a spa - Agoda should address this as soon as possible. Otherwise, the staff were all very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed staying a little bit out of town as it was peaceful and pleasant alongside the river. One suggestion would be that the resort offers a shuttle service to various locations around Chiang Mai as it can get pretty expensive paying for taxis to & from every destination... The cost of taxis in Chiang Mai is markedly higher than in Bangkok - according to one of our drivers it's due to higher fuel costs. The "songteow" or "baht buses" are cheaper, but still pricier than further south. A complimentary shuttle service would be really appreciated by most guests, we imagine.

Abode of peace by the river”
Everything was as smooth and efficient as it can during our stay. The location is great because we liked the view and quietness. The staff was great, smiley and friendly. They are conversant in English, some Chinese and Thai of course. Although the rooms were filled up during this period, I had my personal space and felt really relaxed throughout my stay. There is a restaurant Cafe de Ping just a stone's throw away which serves great food and nice riverside atmosphere. 7-11 is located further south at the junction. You can borrow the bicycle from the hotel to reach these places. Because it is located at greater chiang mai, it cost B250 for cab/sorng tiaow per trip. Unless you have your own set of wheels, it will increase the cost of your stay tremendously.

Hotel with a modern design and good service”
The resort is not in town area so you will have to get a transport to go to the Night Bazaar or other places in the old city area. It is located in a small street and its subtle minimalist design is a pleasant surprise in the neighbourhood. Fantastic and helpful staff with good english. Breakfast is ala-carte buffet style and it's fairly good. Rooms are clean and overlook the Ping river. Extremely well-kept grounds. Will I recommend to friends/relatives? Yes. Will I stay there again? Probably - not that I do not like the resort, but there are many resorts/hotels in Chiang Mai that I would like to try out.

Quiet, Peaceful, Relaxing”
We loved our stay at Zensala. It is a bit out of the city, but close enough that you can ask the hotel to arrange a pick up. The hotel staff was really friendly and kind- they searched for restaurants that we wanted to go to and helped us to arrange drivers from the city back to the resort. The resort was was very nice and clean-- with a great swimming pool and lounge chairs next to the river, it was the perfect place to go and recharge my batteries! The only thing, is the spa was a bit expensive and you would have to wait for someone to come and massage you (from outside the resort). Also, the restaurant closes really early. Aside from that though, I would definitely go back to Zensala for relaxation, however- maybe not if I wanted to spend a lot of time in the city.

A nice gateaway ”
Though the location is a bit inconvenient, which took us some time to have a tuk-tuk or red taxi home, Zensala is still a nice option if you want a nice gateaway from the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai old city. The service was good, however, I felt the lack of intimacy - guess it was because of the English level of the staff. Most staff was polite but wouldn't interact with you - except one lady who spoke good English and offered us some travel tips in Chiang Mai. I am so grateful for her since I'm a light sleeper and was awaken by the sunlight from the glass of shower room - the lady suggested to tape the black paper on the glass and it worked so well that I slept extremely well for the following nights.

Hidden Gem ”
We were 2 couples staying at the Zensala for 9 days, The Zensala was a perfect place for us to chill out and relax undisturbed by the pool while our husbands most days played golf at nearby golf courses. On the days when we dragged our self away from the pool the hotel transport dropped us of at Tha pae Gate about 15 mins away bus leaves at 11am daily. Any small wants or needs that we had were very quickly resolved by the staff. The all you can eat breakfast were made to order which was a nice idea a change from a buffet style which you find in a lot of places now and a menu to suit most tastes. The hotel is situated on a small side road but the I can’t say the traffic bothered me during my stay. There was a few mosquito going about so might be wise to take some deet with you if you plan to sit outside in the evenings by the pool area. We were outside most night as it was such a lovely romantic setting by the river and after putting on the deet we had very few bites. keeping in mind that these annoying creatures are everywhere in North Thailand there is no escaping them. This was such a relaxing place to stay a situated on the Ping river would definitely recommended it and would stay here again I would like to thank all the staff at the Zensala for making this a most memorable and enjoyable stay

Food-- Reasonable priced, so so delicious, you must try everything. Breakfast was included in the booking and it was a all you can eat ala carte, soo good too! the breakfast area was cozy and i could just sit on the couch lazing. Room and Hotel-- location was by the river, out of the chiang mai city, so no sight seeing, but a great place to relax and chill out. Rooms were spacious and new.

Great hotel and in quiet location but if you dont drive it is not very convenient. Rooms are excellent and very clean The best asset of the hotel is their staff. Great Hotel and Service in a serene environment :)”
We stayed in Zensala for 5D and 4N for the first leg of our Thailand Honeymoon. The hotel and the room just blew me away, we both loved the ambiance, how perfectly secluded it was, the view, everything! We stayed in the hotel most of the time for soome R&R, but the staff were very friendly and help arrange for transportation for us when we wanted to tour (we went to bor sang and the walled city). Since we stayed most of the time in the hotel, we were able to enjoy the facilities of the hotel, they have DVD player inside the room and a good collection of DVDs which you can rent for free, you can also bike around the hotel. We ate most of our meals in Zensala as well, and they have a good breakfast and a great menu, just remember to inform the staff on the level of spiciness you want for your food. The location is priceless if you want some R&R like we did, but you will need to take a ride to go to the city center, or some other places.
